I can confirm that screen mirroring is now working with Windows 8.1 devices that support miracast. I have connected to my firetv with my surface pro 3 multiple times with great success and no last. (probably my best miracast experience yet)
However, after the initial connection, upon reconnecting it sets the resolution really low, like 1200x700 or something close. At this resolution windows metro apps will not run, this making miracast a little less useful.
Any body think of a way to fix this? You can't just change the resolution on the computer to a higher resolution it doesn't see it as a supported resolution. Anyone else have a similar issue?
I'm running the newest Intel drivers on the surface pro 3.
How did you get Miracast working? Is anyone else seeing it working?
I've got a Fire TV Stick on version 54.1.1.0_user_110035420 (March 2015), and it doesn't work for me still with my Surface Pro 3 that's on the same WiFi network.
I start by choosing Mirroring on the Fire TV Stick, and a window pops up on screen that says guest devices can wirelessly mirror now. I then sweep out the Charms bar from the right on Windows, choose Devices, and then Project, add a wireless display. It sits for a while on a screen saying "Searching for devices", and then it always just says no devices found.

I did what you said above. It is working but there is too much lag
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
How do you make Miracast work? I tried and couldn't get it to work with windows 8.1
Do you have VirtualBox installed? I have had discovery problem with Roku's miracast mode because the VirtualBox network drivers. When the drivers were removed everything worked. This sucked because the drivers were for an android emulator.
miracast works also => lenovo yoga 2 pro (I use a extra intel widi wifi card for 5gh wifi)
but it works only one time, the next time you must remove your connected firetv in windows 8.1 and reboot the firetv.
After reboot it will work for one new connect and so on,..

I got it working by factory resetting my Fire TV Stick. I use the term "working" very loosely. This is more like a proof-of-concept than a working product.
I'm not seeing any of the problems with resolution that jdtimothy talked about, and I'm not seeing the need to reboot that Pat1981 saw, but it's still basically unusable. I'm constantly seeing some mix of: (1) lag, sometimes as long as seconds long, (2) random reboots of the Fire TV Stick while connected, (3) random freezes of the Fire TV Stick's screen while connected, though sometimes sound will continue to play, and (4) random disconnects.
I've found that using a high-resolution causes all of these problems to happen a lot more severely. Using 1080p lag is around 3-5 seconds, and a reboot of the Fire TV Stick is common. Using 1024x768 it basically works other than half second lag on everything. This is all while connected to an N-router located in the same room with no interference on the same channel.
hi,
This could be a sily question I am posting. but here is interesting thing I am trying to do. I have a wireless network where my PC, Mobile and TV connected. I can use PlayTo feature from mobile and watch on TV. but can not project my mobile screen to TV.
Another issue is On my PC, I have windows 10 and I can see my TV listed there in Devices, but can not project desktop to TV. earlier on windows 8.1 there was facility in mediaplayer to use Playto, it seems that is missing. does any one know what is way out ?

So I have my Huawei P8 Lite, Build no. ALE-L21C432B170 with Kernel 3.10.61-ga9763c9; and a Samsung Series 6 Smart Tv.
The Multi-display shortcut thingy does not find the TV automatically. Through wifi direct I can connect my phone with the TV. Then run again the Multi-display thingy, the Tv's Wifi Direct name shows up, I press it, the TV goes into "Loading" - status and remains there yet the telephone signals that connection failed.
Tried it with an Allview P5Life, a far weaker device, yet with a single button press I could establish screen sharing, without having to mess around in Wifi Direct.
Can somebody confirm that the Huawei P8 Lite devices are not compatible with Samsung Series 6 Smart Tvs or that I need to do additional settings before being able to share screen?
P.S.: As I recall correctly I even tried sharing screen with an other brand Tv but without success. Need Help.
I am using a rooted tablet with Android 5.1 which is manufactured by a Small company and looks like MTK Chipset.
I rooted the tablet and edited the build prop to get the cast settings, but it is not letting me connect to miracast.
It does a search or available screens but whenever I try to connect it its stops in between.
Please help in connecting it to a Miracast device.

Hi,
I just bought the "Smart Tab M10 Plus TB-X606FA" and want to access the smart dock of the tablet via "vanilla bluetooth", but both, my mobile phone (Samsung Note 10) and my laptop Computer (Manjaro/KDE), deny access.
The laptop connects, but I do not see any audio profile. Do these smart docks not work as normal speakers at all? I am not going to use Siri, Alexa or whatever external microphone im my home ;-) Does anybody know, if there is any open source driver, to access the dock?
Furthermore, I am wondering, if there is already a developmet ongoing to get LinageOS running on the tablet?
Thanks
