Hello,i need help,
Is there any way to force the SHIELD TV to output display :
1920x1080, YUV 4:4:4 10bit Rec709 ?? (yes this can pass in HDMI, i did it with a laptop + hdmi 2.0b)
Why this question ?
Because i'm using a projector with native panel 10bit and i check with a computer... the best result is with this settings. (for 1080p 10bit video)
I don't want 12bit.
i don't understand why in 1080p, yuv is only in 8bit and 12bit on shield TV...

From VLC:
H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
English
1280x720
Frame rate 23.976215
In an MKV.
The audio plays, it has a picture from the frame of the video, but it just wont play the video stream... How can I get it to say why? Or have I got some special codec that won't play, I thought the SGS could play a 720P H264.
Hey guys,
My HDMI cable just arrived today so I excitedly converted a blu-ray quality .mkv to an .MP4 using Handbrake. The settings on handbrake work great for DVD quality files and I can watch the blu-ray conversion on the EVO itself but when I try to watch it through HDMI nothing shows up on the screen. I CAN watch a video I recorded on the EVO on the TV if that makes sense.
Why won't the .MP4 play? Is this due to the fps issue or do I need to encode it into a different format to play out through the HDMI?
Thanks!
Sounds like you probably converted to a non-standard resolution. Make sure you set your converted size to:
720p - 1280x720
1080p/1080i - 1920×1080
Hard to tell without you listing the settings you used in Handbrake. I've been able to do 720p out of the phone via HDMI just fine.
Hey I were wondering is there any specific format that it only plays or is it
a verity of video format(s)
Per the user manual (should be on your tablet or download from acer.com):
Video playback H.264 BP, H.264 MP, H.264 HP, MPEG-4 SP, H.263
Use MX Player. Probably the most flexible around in terms of different formats and codecs. Make sure you install the codec pac for the tegra2 processor.
Hi guys,
I want to start a topic about the video playback with the HW decoder of our eee pad.
first, this link from Motorola can help about the compatibility of the device.
(its for xoom I know but anyway it's the same processor)
I test a 1080p video yet but here is my test a video:
Resolution : 1920x800 (was the resolution of my video source)
Video Format : H.264
Video bitrate 6500kbps (didn't go higher because of my video source) tested with 8000kbps and still stable
Profil : Baseline (*IMPORTANT*) main or high will not work
CABAC enabled
Deblocking enabled
B-Frame : 2
Audio
LC-AAC with 160kbps bitrate
*HW is only available for stereo sound* BUT if you use a hdmi cable and want a full surround, you can put 5.1 under sound section (with mediacoder) when you will convert, doing this, the main video player of the table will NOT work. You will have to use MX video player (free in the market) AND when the video will start, click on the "music note" in the middle left and select S/W Decoder.
So the video will be decoded by the HW and audio decoded by SW. video is fluid and it work but can't guarantee if it is stable because I only test it one minute.
****Also, the container must be a .mp4 file!****
here is my preset for people who use Mediacoder
link
I use CUDA for the encoder but you absolutely need a compatible nvidia graphic card. Otherwise, check Auto.
I will try to push the tablet to its HW limit with other test. I'll keep this post updated.
Thanks
MediaCoder is free, you can download it from this link

Hi,
my Nvidia Shield is set 3840x2160 59,940Hz Yuv 420 10 Bit Rec. 2020 which is recommended in the settings. (my TV is an LG OLED55C6D, 4k HDR LG OLED)
The resolution always stays at 3840x2160, also if I play 1080p content e.g. in Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or Plex. I think even the framerat keeps at 59,940Hz as the video is no as smooth as when I play it with other sources (TV internal Apps, Apple TV 4k, FireTV 4k), but i can't check as the TV only shows "16:9 2160p BT.2020 PCM" but not the framerate.
Is there any way that the shield automatically changes framerate and resolution that it matches the video? I read somewhere that it should work with Kodi, but normally I don't use Kodi but Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Plex.
I have the same question and observation
