I bought one of these Chinese Android boxes that integrate with your existing head unit and I'm trying to find any information about it, and which forum I should be posting questions to. FWIW I have a VW Touareg with an RNS850 system that is basically the same thing as the Audi MMI 3g+ system, but with a touch screen.
Here is some model and version info:
Model: ZQ8002
MCU: TUREG-ZQAND-1.1
APP: MTK-8002_C37_GA1_DZSJ_DaZhong_EN_2019-05-27
Android: 6.0
CPU: 4 core 32-bit CPU Coetex-A7 @1.3G
RAM: 2GB
Flash: 16GB
Baseband Version: MOLY.WR8.W1449.MD.WG.MP.V61.P3
Kernel: 3.18.19 [email protected] #2
Hostname: fise8321_tb_m (seen via ADB shell)
It has a "Factory Settings" menu similar to other Android head units I've seen mentioned here. That presents a numeric keypad. I figured out a few codes for it:
0000: Bunch of debugging toggles, also toggle for ZLink CarPlay
5555: Just says "ok" when you enter it. I think this turns on ADB over TCP. I was able to ADB to it after this, but I had also use a terminal emulator to enable it.
9999: Single item to allow installation of "APP", which I assume is the firmware?
The box on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PJGLD41/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Main issues I'm trying to solve right now is that my skip track buttons on my steering wheel aren't doing anything, even though I can see the CAN bus events in the logs when I press the buttons. I'm hoping there's a Factory Setting code I haven't found that might let me change the CAN Bus settings. It has carCanBus and FactorySettings apks that I was able to decompile, but didn't find anything useful.

Hi Albe, is this something I could copy off of the unit? I have not had mine installed for a couple of years, but I am interested in trying to get this thing updated to possibly fix some of the issues I had with it. It may be a long time before I work on it, but if you could provide the file system path to copy the MCU file, I will provide it for you. If it's more involved than just copying a file, just let me know what I need to do or link me to a guide. Thanks!

I don't know how is it possible to exctract the MCU file (.bin) by the interface. I could try to find online anything to do it. i try to find softwars and so on, if i'will try i tell you something. I send many mails to producer of the unit, but everytime i do it, he tell me to waiting for response of the engineering department......and i wait. My MCU was TUREG-ZQAND-1.3 but i think your version 1.1 coluld going rigt for mine.

Is this the 8.1go or just 8.1?
Also the android 9.0 has multi screen working?
Can i safely flash my head unit with the firmware listed?
Yes u can ( always do at your own risk like me); but use one of the touch only files. I can't upload pictures yet but i tried to post a screenshot of each firmware look. If its 8227l firmware it should update/flash.

Only error was for the firmware being for touch screen only
Hello, I would like to know if this type of software has in some menu the option of autosleep to program that it turns off completely and does not remain in standby, in other Android it exists but here I do not see it. Can this Android 9.0 image be flashed even if it now has 8.1? Is it official or is it rooted?
thanks

Android version: 8.1.0

With Canbus (ford mondeo 2007)
Its my first time with an android radio unit and I am very lost, I would like to know if I can change the firmware or update it, the one that it brings is very limited and does not let me change the brightness of the device or bluetooth functions.
Thank you for support!

Above are 2 android 7.1 & 8.1 example. Below is Android 9 example.
This is for those who have a ( 8227l ) android stereo and are looking for the update file zip. Also the mcu in the about phone menu should begin with ts . I have 5 files from jby tech, they are the Amazon seller of my hizpo android 8.1 stereo unit. From lots of research and emails to the company, i found that these Android stereos come in many brand names but run the same 8227l system. Another company with the same unit is joying but the device name is different along with the entire UI. Please do be sure you have a 8227l unit before proceeding. Other updates for other brands can be found on google and xda forum. I will try to remember to put link for xda forum. Below I have listed 2 groups of files. One is for touch screen only android stereo and the other is for touch screen with volume knob. Please choose according to your type of stereo. And follow the steps below exactly.
1. Download proper zip for your device.
2. Extract the 2 files from within the zip folder.
3. Copy & paste the ( .bin ) & other file on to a blank sd card or usb flash drive. Make sure these are the only 2 files on the sd card or flash drive.
4. With stereo unit powered off insert the sd card or usb flash drive and power on stereo. (Note some units will recognize the file immediately during boot, and others will prompt you after loading main screen. If unit does not recognize it, power off for 40sec and when u power on tap the screen in middle repeatedly with finger until the word "detected" shows in green. If it gives a message in red saying failed please check you have good download copy and have followed the instructions exactly. Will answer questions as i am able to.
All links to files and sites mentioned must be copy pasted. Im not able to attach external link yet.

Hi all,
I decided to make 3, very beginner-friendly guides on how to fully backup your Android Head Units and how to restore those backups. These guides are made primarily for the SuperMOD packages in my signature but will generally apply to any Mediatek-based device.
Video Guide - How to full backup your Android Head Unit
This guide will help you:
Backup your whole flash drive with SP Flash Tool
Create your own Scatter and Preloader file
Create your own shareable firmware
PDF Guide - How to restore your backup with SP Flash Tool
This guide will help you restore your backup on a working Android head unit, type MediaTek YT921xxx, with available flash dump
Video Guide - Test Point recovery of a bricked head unit
This guide will help you restore your non-working Android head unit, type MediaTek YT921xxx, with available backup
If you encounter errors during these procedures, like DRAM failures etc, here are the main reasons as to why this might be happening:
Your Preloader and/or Scatter file is incompatible - extract your native scatter and preloader from your backup file
Incompatible SP Flash Tool version
Try to insert the USB cable within 2 seconds of pushing 'WRITE' or 'DOWNLOAD'
Use USB 2.0 ports if available rather than USB 3.0
Make sure your USB port does not go into sleep mode
Your Mediatek drivers are not properly installed on your PC
Faulty or incompatible USB cable - make sure it's shorter than 1m.
Refer to this guide on information about all the errors
------------------------------------------
Thanks! And if this post is helpful to you please don't forget to "like" it.
Enjoy!

I wanted to share a guide that I translated from Russian forums and adjusted for the English speaking folks on how to successfully import a memory dump into you chinese unbranded Android car stereo head unit, normally a 8227L_demo device with Android type YT9213, YT9216, YT9217, YT9218 and similar.
The guide is made for beginners and is with pictures. You can view the PDF file here and I suggest you download it for better viewing quality and picture detail.
If you encounter errors during the procedure, like DRAM failures etc, here are the main reason for why this is happening:
1. Your Mediatek drivers are not properly installed on your PC
2. Try another Flashtool version (for me only version 5.1824 worked thus far) - this should solve the issue 90% of the time.
3. Ensure your USB cable is shorter than 1m and is fully working.
I am also going to make a separate post on how to perform a full backup of the same unit types, using the same tools. As you know it is always recommended to backup your original ROM before starting experimenting. Thank you and I hope this is helpful to you folks out there.

Flashtool version is VERY critical, as I found out the hard way. Please remember to follow each author's instructions to the point.

Can You please help me with this issue?
I have two HU 9216bj with 1 GB ram and 16GB storage. The problem is that one is XY auto 1.1 and is running without any issues. Another one I bought came with XY auto 6.5. However, after some time this one started to cause problems such as when I start the car half of the screen started to splash like rain. The seller changed my unit but this problem did not go away. So I contacted him again and he updated my unit to XY auto 6.8 but even after the update, the problem is there. He told me that these 6.5 and 6.8 updates are causing problems and asked me not to update my XY auto 1.1 HU which is still working fine.
So I made a dump file of 9216bj XY auto 1.1 and rewrite it on the XY auto 6.8 but the unit goes black screen and I have to use the original emmc_user file of 6.8 to restore it. These units are not 10.1 andriod. The droid info showed 8.1 and CPU Z showed 9.1. Frankly speaking, I don't know which android it is.
I have attached the images of both the 9216bj 1GB 16GB below. Kindly guide me in this regard.
Thanks again.

Unfortunately the Android 10 units are very poorly built and there are no custom firmware available afaik. The 8.1 and 9.1 units are doable but 10s should be avoided.

Hello.
The android version is 9.1. I have attached the images below. I would appreciate if you can guide to an older or stable firmware or its dump for YT 9216BJ mipi 1280×720.
I have tried many roms from XYgala but the screen goes black even after reset it remains black.
I created a dump by making an scatter file with MT8127 processor and emmc memory and then did a read back of boot 1 boot 2 and user.
Thanks.

Great, many thanks !!! I'll try to follow it.
The new backup guide looks very clear and comprehensive.
I'll use it to make my first backup attempt. Thank you for taking the time to make it.
Two questions:
1. It seems that the values from the scatter file downloaded at 8. are used only for downloading preloader.Xxx.bin. Is that correct ?
2. Should we disconnect the usb cable from the pc at 17. before reconnecting it in 23. ?

Happy to hear that.
As for your questions:
The scatter file included in the software package downloads is applicable to the respective head unit type, that the software package is made for. This means you can use it to backup your head unit, without the need of creating your own scatter file. And the best part is - if the scatter file isn't compatible with your head unit, it's a good indication that the software package is not compatible with your device.
No, as you are instructed to disconnect the USB cable in step 15.

This makes perfect sense if I had a verified firmware or at least verified scatter file.
I don't know how to get one for my device.
I would like to backup the original firmware before loading a new firmware, so I can restore the original incase the new one is not compatible. In this case I am not sure that using a scatter file from the new untested firmware is a good idea.

You can make your own scatter file using a tool like WwR MTK.
Having said that, I'd be very surprised if the scatter file in the software package didn't work for your device, providing your head unit is compatible.
To avoid people getting frustrated I have decided to end this project on my side, follow this link to receive active updates from a guy that has time. Cheers https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-custom-mods-root-twrp-viper4android.4184999/
which is recommended? 6.0 rom or upgrade to 8.0?
Is it installable on a yt9216b 1/16 with firmware 8.1 go?
thx

I have had a massive headache getting this to all work but am glad to have found a solution, these units come shipped with a fake android 8.1 (some say 9.1) and are actually android 6.0, all XYAUTO builds from 3.0-3.4 will be android 6.0
DOWNLOAD LINK - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hLDcyTHxSvI6LzuV6D7C28-qhpYEMk-A/view?usp=sharing
This update is real android 8.1 even though it comes up as 9.1 after you install it
The update fixes a number of things, the volume glitch between 17 and 18, and the fader on some models, if your one doesn't have an audio processor chip the fader will not work, more info here https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=985184
It also includes a theme chooser.
This 7.zip contains a computer only flash with TWRP recovery already included
-- Instructions --
Copy all files from "Needed" folder to a USB
Unzip firmware and flashtool
Use flashtool to flash firmware - Open scatter file - Select "Format + Download" From drop down menu
Hit download, connect USB A TO A Cable, then power on the device and let it flash, should come up OK
-- Bootloader Check --
Car Settings - Android Settings - Go to Settings - Scroll down to System - About Car
Tap Build Number to enable developer mode - Back
Developer options - OEM Unlocking - Make sure this is Enabled
-- Gain Root and install ViPER4Android FX/Dolby --
Plug in your USB Stick
Open file manager and open USB Drive
Install Android Terminal Emulator
type in: Reboot Recovery - Enter
Change Language to English, *tip* the option is настройки then globe on the top right
Install - Select Storage - Usb OTG
** In this Order **
Select Magisk-v20.4.zip
Add zip
Select ViPER4Android_2.5.0.5.zip
Add zip
Select WICKED BEATS.zip
Add zip
Select Busybox-1.29.0-YDS-UNIVERSAL.zip
Add zip
Select Dolby-Oreo.zip (Only if you want it, NOTE will replace the built in eq so the one in settings won't display)
Swipe to install
Go back
Select Wipe - Factory Reset
Reboot ** Dont install TWRP updater app this is a custom recovery and the only one you will ever get **
Connect to WIFI
Install MagiskManager and perform the additional setup when it loads
After reboot, open MagiskManager and make sure Magisk is detected if not power off/on device and check
again, boot back into recovery and reinstall Magisk zip if it's still not working after that set OEM Unlocking to disabled in Developer options, reboot and recheck, this glitch is to do with the bootloader not enabling magisk. Once you have ViPER4Android installed even if this does decide to intermittantly not enable root in the future the FX will still work as it only needs root access to install the driver initially.
Open viPER4Android FX, turn on master power and check driver status, should be working.
-- Set up side buttons --
Car Settings - Factory Settings - 8888 - Touch Settings
In this order
Start
Power - Power Button
Home - Home Button
Back - Back Button
Voladd - Vol+
Voldec - Vol-
Close - Ok

Thank you for sharing good instruction.
One question for you. Are your fader and equalizer working properly? Mines aren't. However, for Equalizer, Dolby could be a good alternative but for fader, there is no alternative in my knowledge. Any idea?

Hey mate, The fader won't work if the DSP chip is missing from the board, also once you install dolby the right left front and rear fader stop working as it replaces the audio eq, I'm trying to find a solution to this at the moment but without that chip I doubt it.

The 6.0 rom here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ecovery-custom-mod-root-twrp-viperfx.4184999/ is faster, but you can only use viper fx, the 8.1 one I have posted is slightly slower due to the android revision and allows you to use dolby.

Just check what display size you have first under car settings and download the right one cheers.
Thank you for your reply and kind pictures. I confirmed mine doesn't have a DSP.. Haven't expected a car stereo without fader.. Anyway, problem solved.
My unit looks exactly like this but the number on mine is YT9213A without the last 'J'. Do you know if this would work on my unit? Any clue what difference the final J makes?

Hey man you will be after the same one as buffaloquinn above, just unzip the rom and overwrite the preloader.bin and recovery.img from my image before you flash so you get twrp

Hi,
Thank you very much for the post. I have tried to install it by downloading the file for Y9216B and when I try to flash it by choosing the scatter file it always gives me an error and says that it is invalid. What could be the problem?
Thank you

Chinese characters in the directory name, just rename it to firmware or something and the scatter file should work
Hello, and happy new year to all. i have a car Ownice k1 1GB ram 16GB disk, can you upgrade with your rom? I attach photos
Not having any luck here. Reseting or rebooting (including from completely disconnected from power unit) never seems to recognize my computer connected via USB cable. (Checked with both USB ports as well)
Is there some trick to getting the unit into download mode?

Hey there
My Head Unit is no longer saving the last used memory and the radio just stopped working this week.
I am looking for custom firmware to try and hopefully get my unit working properly.
I have searched online and with not a lot of luck. I found someone with custom Firmware on Youtube
but I have used his firmware on another unit a few years back and you can't turn off the auto screen saver option
so I would rather not use his firmware again.
Any Help?
My specs:
Pumpkin Android Radio
Model: px5 (1024 x 600)
Android Version: 10
Last security Update: 5. May 2020
Build NUmber: rk3368-userdebig 10
Kernel-Version: 4.19.111
MCU-Version: MTCU_HT_V3.71_1 Dec 19 2020
CPU: Octa-core Cortex-A53 @ 1.5G
Memory: 3937 MB
I hope someone can help
Thank you in advance.
The file I uploaded is the firmware update the seller sent to me.
Seller instructions:
Update methods:
Download the link on your computer--Don’t unzip the file update.zip. Copy this file " update.zip" to the USB root directory. Connect the USB stick to the USB port of the radio. If the radio detects the update immediately and wants to install it, click on Cancel.
Then open Settings> System> System Updates> tick the box > click Install.
I installed it all Okay. Still have the same problems.
I also found this firmware
Hal9k_Mod_5.0_MTCx_HCTx_PX5_eng.rar
From
And it also installed Okay. Looks very different (I don't really like it that much, far too bright) however I still have the same problems.
I am starting to think it's a hardware problem.
I will post back after trying something else.

You even did not tell anything about your issues you are facing. What do you mean with:

So really think about that and communicate correctly.
The same would be if you call your workshop that your car does something wrong and don´t tell them what happens.
Would you get any instructions? I think not.
So tell us the issues and then thee might be some answer possible.
@localos : I think just pushing links to any firmware version without having a bug report does not make any sense.
