Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2019 - Strange SD Card issue - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

Okay, I'm reaching out to the community because I am completely at a loss here. I seem to be having an issue with my friend's tablet on it randomly unmounting the SD card. In My Files, it shows the SD card not inserted and that I have -30.66GB/0B of storage. I tried to help him trace the problem, but he can only remember that it began after an update some time ago.
In diagnosing the problem, I learned that everything clears up again on reboot, so I did everything I could to replicate the problem, including running the apps that my friend ran, and could not duplicate it. I then give it back, and then it glitches!
In trying to launch an app written to the SD card while the SD card is not seen, I get these errors:
Code:

It seems strange that the line CoverManager: getCoverState : This device is not supported cover exists in the first place. There is a cover on the Tab A, but I have no idea if this is in relation to that. I am at a complete loss. HELP!!!

Since my last post, I got the error "One UI isn't responding". I wasn't able to type in the password, as the user interface seemed laggier than usual. What could be causing this?

You said you had a problem running an app on the SD card. Samsung doesn't support running apps on the SD card. That's because the SD card is much, much slower than Internal storage and causes things to be laggy.

Yes, but the SD cad is not being seen at all, even when not running apps from the SD. Documents, music, etc. are inaccessible because the SD card "disappears".

Just posting to keep this thread relevant. The issue persists.

...So... Anything else you guys have would be great.

Get a new sd Card, format it as internal storage at first then format it as external storage
After that

...Then what?

I don't think the SD card is the issue, though, as I've been getting "One UI" errors as well. I suspect something more system-level.

Never mind. I'm getting my friend a better tablet, so this is now an useless thread. Glad I could get so much help.

Phone app continuously crashing

First, some information about the device:
1. Samsung Galaxy S5 from TMobile
2. Has Lollipop installed (from OTA update)
3. Factory ROM, not rooted, bootloader still locked, no modifications whatsoever.
For some reason I am getting the "Unfortunately, Phone has stopped" popup continuously. This occurs from the moment I boot up (at lockscreen) and as soon as I press "OK", it comes up about 0.2 seconds later. Makes it very difficult to navigate the device menus.
I have looked at logcats and this exception is what occurs:

It seems to have something to do with telecom. I have removed the SIM card, SD card, etc. No difference. I have tried clearing app data for contacts, contacts storage, phone app, even "com.android.server.telecom" from ADB SHELL PM CLEAR command, but no change.
Does anyone know what the issue could be? What can I try to do (besides factory reset of course) to fix the issue? Thanks in advance. I can post more logcats if needed.
There are numerous bugs with system apps crashing with lolipop on the S5. My contacts app is constantly crashing, vzw, OTA.
Ended up doing a factory reset, which fixed the issue
I really didn't want to factory reset ?
You need to factory reset after upgrading from KK to LP
That's more of a personal preference. I've seen tons of upgrades on this phone that went fine.

users.setAdapter(adapter);
}
and also can you tell me if the ordering and displaying to the LIstView will work and when no can you help me display it please?
The adapter is your problem.The layout file you specified is your main layout,not a ListView item layout.Try using android.R.layout.symple_list_item_1(or sort of) instead of R.layout.main.If you don't like that layout you could make a custom ListView item layout.There are plenty of tutorials on Google on how to do this.
It should look lke this:
ArrayAdapter adapter = new ArrayAdapter(this,android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1,listItems);
myListView.setAdapter(adapter);

Help! Google Contacts/Download Manager crashing with ClassNotFoundException

Hello,
Please help as my AT&T bootloader is updated/locked so I can't downgrade to any OEM firmware image from odin. Here is what I did:
Root --> Removed too many apps-->TB restore--xposed-->security update -->reboot loop-->factory reset-->re-root-->installing packages manually through adb-->flashing update.zips
Finally, I have the phone somewhat running. However, various Google apps (app store, setup wizard, contacts) are crashing with a ClassNotFoundException. I have manually installed these .apk using instructions in the forums here. Now, I'm trying to figure out what I did wrong and how to resolve it.
I wasn't sure about the package name/file owner/package permissions or if I need to restore more of the .apks that I removed. Some of the Samsung/Knox/Att apps are still removed. I also came across a post regarding some settings in system/framework/arm/boot.oat, framework-classes2.dex, oat2dex.jar. However, I wasn't sure what to type to check it.
I can run commands and provide any output that will help. Thanks in advance since I just bought this expensive phone!

Update: It appears that my .apk files from my TB are missing the .dex files. See the directory listing below They must have gotten corrupted somehow. I downloaded a ROM and extracted the package for comparison. The directory output is listed below. I am going to try to install the package from the Rom to my phone and see if that works.

Update: I installed those two .apk files and flashed gapps. Now I'm getting a crash in the setup wizard. It might be related to this post on github.com /opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Notes-for-CMSetupWizard. I'm not sure yet.
Steps used to try and install the version of the two .apk files that I got from the ROM

Update:
I tried updating all the permissions for every google app, but still no luck. Finally I got the system to boot by disabling the setup wizard
pm disable com.google.android.setupwizard
I setup wiFi and then I tried to start some google apps and I found that google play services was not installed. I check the pm list packages output and gms was not showing up in the list of packages.
I downloaded the correct version of gms apk and installed it. After this I enabled package manager
pm enable com.google.android.setupwizard
The wizard still crashed with the same class not found error. However, it then moved past the error and setup the phone anyway. The phone logged in and most things are working. I am updating all apps from the store and am working on a few issues like the contacts not working.
The phone is up and running now. I am having some issues with packages which see to be related to the odex.
To get around the issue, I connect with adb shell catlog and search up for FATAL to see the crash stack.
I am still working on it to try to figure out what is wrong. From some searched on odex files,
I might have to deodex the file or find a deodex one from a ROM. I think what happened to my installation
is that I got corrupted/missing odx odex data for the system service providers. This might have
been from TB "integrate into system rom" operations that I did. I'll continue tomorrow.
//had some issues trying to set ringtones and other problems
//found that the media storage provider was not installed
//from adb shell, logcat shows the following crash over and over when searching up for FATAL in the output

Update: I got this resolved. I was able to find a deodexed ROM for an S7 edge. I copied the .apk file for the SecMediaProvider from the Rom to my device and everything appears to be working properly now.

Whatsapp can't record voice notes

EDIT: FIXED! Turns out I had the magisk module "Oneplus 6 stereo speaker mod" installed (not sure why I didn't have the 6t version, maybe that's part of the reason), after uninstalling that everything started working again.
Hey everyone,
so after updating to OOS10 I can't record voice messages in whatsapp anymore. Every other app works fine, even whatsapp calls work, just voice notes are broken.
I know there are a few similar threads but the only proposed solution there is to use WhatsApp Business, which I don't want to.
I've looked at the logcat while trying to record a message and there's a few error messages thrown by various audio drivers

These messages keep looping while trying to record the message, showing the the code just tries to connect to the mic in the background indefinitely but always fails.
Anyone have any idea what to do here? I've reinstalled Whatsapp already to no avail, rebooting didn't help either.

Steam Link app not working on Lineage

I am using Lineage 17.1 no GAPS / no MicroG on a shield TV pro. When I launch the steamlink app I just get a blank screen. I thought maybe it needs gaps but I loaded it on to my OP9P with Linage 18.1 no gaps no micro-g and it works just fine. Logcat shows this for app startup. Any ideas? TIA!
