I published an Android TV app in the play store. I opted in for the Android TV by visiting Setup > Advanced Settings > Release Types. It was later rejected and I receive an email.
Now, I fixed the issues and published a new version.
I was expecting the "Rejected" status to change to "In Review" in the Android TV section in Advanced Settings.
But, sadly, it just shows "Update rejected". It is not clear, if it means the new updated is rejected. I did not get any email. Even the error message in the "Policy" section only shows the last rejection details and date also reflects the first rejection.
Now, I think, the review has not even initiated for the update. How can I initiate the review? I tried opt-out, save, opt-in. Even then, it does not go to "in review" status.
Any help is appreciated...
I'm completely unhelpful but just curious, what's the app for Android tv you're making?

I am trying to build a social app where you can follow people and watch contents (from many OTTs) based on their recommendations.

Hello,
the title says it all.
I cannot find this app on the marketplace anymore. The other LG apps are still there.
German Phone/WLID/Settings.
It's called SmartShare now.

Well I don't have that app in my marketplace either.
Maybe this is explanation.

Well not really, the last post made by a Mango user simply states that he can't find the app in the marketplace anymore either. So has it been removed?
Yep, looks like it's gone

Well I still have it on my phone but its sad to see it removed either way. This app was the only reason why I bought the LG WP device.
Can you exemplify how it helps you ? You need to have devices that support that feature right ?
Maybe the App was removed because the Play To App function will be integrated into Mango's "Settings" just the way the HTC has integrated some Apps into "Settings" too.
Just guessing here
PlayTo/SmartShare not available even in Official Mango RTM
I just updated my phone to the official Mango Update, the app didn't appeared and I even did reset my phone hoping to find it again with the preinstalled apps, but it didn't appeared. My only hope would be reverting back to NoDo, but it's weird since PlayTo was a killer feature to me.
Well I also upgraded to Mango now.
The app is still not in the marketplace nor did I receive an update notification. However, I also did not receive update notifications for other apps (such as ScanSearch from LG), but I could still update ScanSearch by opening its page in the Marketplace.
SmartShare has been updated for Mango so I would really be surprised if they did not list in the marketplace sometime soon.
Anyway, I was able to access the app again using this link on the phone:
zune://navigate/?appid=0871a857-f9ae-df11-8a2f-00237de2db9e
EDIT: Also there are new features. You can now select media servers as the source (media shared from e.g. your PC) and more devices (Roku Soundbridge) are now supported for playback.
I had open market phone, so to get Mango I needed to downgrade it to version 4008 with better firmware and then upgrade to Mango. Play application is somehow default, and every step of update I was visible. At the end when Mango was installed, markeplace asked if I wanted to upgrade it, I agree, and during update it shows that application name was changed to SmartShare. After upgrade, application seems to start, but I had no time to test it. The strangest thing is that I cannot find this application in Marketplace.
Well the App is back in the marketplace for me although it's name is missing.
I really wished that they added the ability to stream from your computer to your phone. As of now I cannot seem to do that, it is kind of misleading to have a source and target but only allow you to have your phone as a source. If you select anything other that your phone it will not allow you to select your phone as a target but rather your computer essentially creating a remote...
When I get app updates in the Play Store on my phone, I can easily view the What's New section to find out what's been updated in the app.
But on my A500 when I go to update the app, the only screen I get just shows the app's permissions. There's no "What's New" changelog section available.
Am I missing something really simple?

You have to click on the app icon itself and that will take you to the update info. That's all I've found, it's really annoying that there is no clear support for the tab.
Im sure this is a silly question but is there an actual regular app store or do you just have to browse though the panels?
There just doesnt seem to be many apps at all to install I figured there must be some better way of getting them more like playstore.
...
I cant get regular playstore working after following the guide. It either flashes and returns to apps list or occasionally goes to the account details screen but no further.
There's the Amazon app store.

Yes, there are other/new places to look for getting Fire TV apps, but unfortunately because of being new in this forum I'm not yet permitted to place external links in my posts (which would be the easiest way to assist) So, just do search on 'fire tv apps 2014' and/or 'fire tv app options' which will lead to some info that should hopefully help? In addition, I found a few recent and relevant links on the 1st page in a Google search for 'finding apps for fire tv'. But as far as there being a store solely for Fire TV apps, I'm not sure if there is one yet
If you can install from unknown sources, there is 1mobile,appchina,wandoujia,voga360,and aptoide.
You can also use evozi and/or apkleecher to get free apps from the Play Store.
And you can even get your purchased apps by signing up at the Evozi APK Downloader page!

Update: @jarayn informs me that it is not a launchable app.
And just to bring it full circle. The Amazon Appstore comes preloaded on the AFTV. It's just very hidden. This is the location on the latest FW.
Go to: Settings / 4) Applications / Manage All Installed Applications / Apptore ( Just scroll down till you find it & launch)

Thats not a launchable app on my fire tv.
Are you saying you can open that and actually browse through apps?
What other "treasures" await those poor schmucks or pre-rooted winners who get the latest firmware?

Humn... Didn't try to open it. Guess it is there but everything is dealt thru the UI. Wonder if there is another app to sideload that might act like an actual appstore. No point though....
I side-loaded the regular appstore apk from Play. Kinda messed things up. Had to Unzip Rbox's pre-rooted ROM to retrieve the correct one from Apps. Then had to R/W with Root Explorer to remove the side-loaded one and replace with the correct one.
Be careful messing with AFTV specifc apps.
Is there a way to make sure Kodi doesn't update on me? Thanks.

Open play store, settings, turn off "auto update apps" should do the trick.
Heads up though: after some turmoil within the Kodi team, and Jodi's ever increasing frustration with box sellers and them catching heat for third party addons..... The lead developer(only developer) responsible for Android version left the team. Kodi didn't want to continue supporting Android versions in future releases so.... He left.
He did however, resume his "SPMC" app which is a fork of Kodi with many optimizations and feature improvements specifically for android devices. Can't find it on the AndroidTV or Leanback Play Store. But if you goto PlayStore on a PC, and search for "SPMC" you will find it and can click install, then select your Nexus Player. It will install in just a few minutes. Will show up on your AndroidTV homepage.
Alternatively, you can web search "SPMC" and goto its website and download, view changelog, etc.
It also now supports Android TV suggested content on the home screen. This means that if you have movies/TV Shows added to your library, they will appear as suggestions much like the YouTube app, or Hulu, or Netflix, etc.
Pretty cool feature?
Sent from my LG-H811 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Will any of the kodi add-ons work with his new program or is this a totally different thing?
It is a Kofi fork, which means it is built from the same open source code from Kofi. He essentially left Kiri and took his plans and optimization ideas and is continuing the work as SPMC. Yes, all addons will work just the same

Thanks for the info, I didn't even know this program existed and yes the addons work great.
I apologize if someone posted anything regarding this, I'm searching for people discussing it and couldn't find it here or on Reddit..
After watching the keynote I rushed to the developer zone only to find:
Note: The Nexus 6P is the only phone supported as a headset phone for a Daydream development kit at this time.

Annoyed since there should be no reason to leave the n6 out I tried it anyway, the apk gives an error so I followed the instructions to setup the sdk thinking maybe to mess with the source but no need, it compiled without complaint,
the remote app wasn't working because it was only arm64 but before the keynote ended they updated the repo with a new version that does.
The demo is really interesting and I think it's a lot smother than regular cardboard apps, then again those should be smoother as well on the preview3 ..
update ??

It works fine with the Daydream VR app and any accompanying ARM compatible app. I installed the Daydream VR app and Google Arts and Culture, as well as VR services, and then installed the remote emulator on my Nexus 5. Turn Bluetooth and high accuracy location on both, pair the devices, open up a VR app like Arts and Culture, click the settings icon. Enable developer options by tapping the build number and then open them. Allow virtual controllers. Now open the emulator on the second phone (KitKat or higher, with a gyro) and connect.
