Is it possible to install Android 13 on my samsung S4 i9500
If the answer is negative, could you cite:
reasons that prevent it?
If positive, could you cite:
What steps should I follow? or recommended post to read?
Thank you
yes you can install android 13 on your device through a custom ROM.
your device is among the simplest ones when it comes to modifying the OS, you should be first well- versed with stuff like rooting, custom recoveries, ROMS, kernels.
you can head to the Galaxy S4 forums and get detailed instructions

I couldn't find any Android 13 based ROMs for GT-I9500. If you have seen one, please send a link.

Hi guys,
I just ordered a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and I am fairly certain, that I want to use Cyanogenmod on this device. Unfortunately there are no s4 mini custom roms released yet, so I thought I would try to port it myself. While this is my first android phone, I have gone through the flashing process on the phones of a few friends and I am a long-time linux user and developer, so I feel pretty confident, that I can do it.
I did some reading, but still have a few questions:
Is it correct, that Samsung smartphone bootloaders are generally unlocked? (Unless it's a carrier specific version)
Is it correct, that it is not *required* (but useful) to have CWM recovery (or similar) on samsung phones to install custom roms?
Heimdall or odin can flash them anyway?
What would I have to do to permanently brick the device? Can this happen if I mess up the kernel, recovery or anything else?
Is this guide a good resource for porting CWM to the i9195?
Regards,
Flyser
P.S.: Can we have a seperate s4 mini section in this forum?
bump
plz if u got any rom for s4 mini >> plz give me a link .. i need to port it for my htc sensation >> thanks
cyanogen might work. or maybe some rom from similar device.
some news about?
This is ridiculous... how isn't such a mainstream device supported? It's the top selling phone currently in my country...
Maybe you don't look in the right Forum section? the Root Kits and CRoms are currently in Development. Looking here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 So be patient. Don't forget there are all Homemade.
(or is it the N9000? found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465906)
this is my first non-carrier phone to own. from reading around the General Discussion and Q&A sections, i'm pretty confused.
what kind of info or terms should i know about for this phone in the world of rooting?
for example, a bit of background on myself (and the "need to know" on my past phones).
i had an AT&T Galaxy S3 (d2att/d2lte) for a long while. i rooted it almost instantly with Odin. installed CWM and kept it updated ever since. at first you could only flash TW-based ROMs up to 4.2.2, unless you upgraded to an MJB bootloader and modem then TW-based 4.3+ was flashable.
then i had an AT&T Galaxy S4 (jflteatt/jflte) for a really short while. found out it had a locked bootloader, i used Towelroot to obtain root, but not have a "full" custom recovery, and instead use SafeStrap Recovery (an APK) that flashed ROMs but not the kernel (or something like that?).
* now i have an N900, with TWRP installed. am i restricted only to this section of android development:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/galaxy-note-3-exynos-android-development
* what about these sections?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/orig-development
* if i wanted to flash CM11, is this model referred to as the "hlte"?
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=hlte
* should i stay away from automatic updates? is there something in Titanium Backup that i should freeze?
and i'm sure i have more questions. but can't think of any right now.

You have a ha3g model as its called. DO NOT try to use non exynos specific roms, kernels, or recoveries.
As for the rest, it's up to you.
Sent from my leanKernel 3.4 powered stock 4.4.2 (NF1) SM-N900T
that explains that. so in regard to sections, guess i'm stuck with just this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/galaxy-note-3-exynos-android-development
also, i didn't see "ha3g" listed on CM's website:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/
and. in regard to my past phones, bootloaders were a big hassle when new ones came out.
is there anything right now i should be aware of?

N900 does not have CM support as of yet. Do not try any of those ROMs. You are restricted to only the Exynos Android Development forums as of now.
dang that sucks. from looking over in the Exynos Development section, i don't see any AOSP-based ROMs. (just TW-based)
so AOKP, PA, and Liquid Smooth don't have any ROMs for the N900?
and so is there any need to know info on bootloaders?

You are restricted to TW ROMs.
There is a bootloader that can reset your KNOX, but that's it. Check out the KNOX thread in Galaxy Note 3 Developer Discussion.
Hi there,
I own a Galaxy J500FN and have been unsuccessfully searching the web for a custom rom for my device.
I have used PA on both my S4 and S4 mini and would be very glad (so would many others) if somebody could dedicate some time on working on a build for this device?
It currently ships Lollipop 5.1.1 out of the box.
There is no CWM Recovery build for this device but there is a TWRP Recovery Build that CTxz has kindly developed for us.
I am more than happy to flash experimental builds onto my device to help develop a custom ROM for it.
Thanks a lot!
Kyle
P.S: As many others have found, all root methods currently known for this device will trip the knox security.
No plans as we don't dev for devices we don't own or have access to. It is not on our radar at all, as with most Samsung devices.
@Pirateghost i can provide you all the files of j5 that you needs.

And what exactly does that do for us? That doesn't put a device in a developer's hand and they have ZERO way to test it. We know nothing about the device and we don't care to. It is not on the radar, it is not in the cards....
NO.
Not going to happen.
Please realize that developing for a device isn't easy. Even well documented ones bring along lots of hiccups along the way. There is no way in hell that we will take on a device request for a device that we don't own or plan on ever owning.
Here's a little FYI for you: we prefer Nexus devices or devices where the manufacturer/OEM is willing to allow/support bootloader unlocks, roms, development.
My advice to you: Learn how to bring up the device yourself, and build unofficials for yourself. This site was founded on being a resource BY developers FOR developers. Use the information available to you to build your own.
I have been into modding my SM-S820L for a few months now and although I have found an unofficial TWRP release and a few stock ROM's from various sources, I have never seen any type of CyannogenMod ROM or other custom ROM for this phone.
Also I have been wondering about compatibility between some of the other Samsung Galaxy Core Prime models or similar Samsung phone in general. Would it be plausible that a ROM for say SM-G360T would run on an SM-S820L????
I would love it if anyone knows about compatibility between the SM-S820L and other Samsung Galaxy phone's firmware and custom recovery releases and is willing to share the knowledge would post here with some advice.:good:
Sm s820l
I'm in the same boat as you, there's just not much out there, a new rom was posted on area51 but it wasn't much different, just got rid of bloatware as far as I could tell. I look at it like it's a cheap phone, and as far as custom roms and such, it's just not popular or not favored. I've spent hours searching, nothing out there but malicious websites lol. I'll keep you in mind if I come across something.
Head over to NEEDROM. I built a modified ROM from the Stock firmware for the SM-S820L.
Here is my post!!!
CM, PAC, etc, ROMs for other variants of the Core Prime definitely aren't compatible with the 820L variant? Nothing available but stock-based ROMs?
As far as I have found on the Net, and I have searched for countless hours, I havent found any truly custom ROMs from CM or any other ROM makers. All of my modded ROMs and Kernels are just modified stock files. I havent heard of the other SM- variants being compatible with the SM-S820L but if you ever do find info that certain ROMs work with this model, please post here or shoot me a PM.
I would be uber happy to finally flash something like a Cyanogen Mod ROM

An acquaintance of mine just got a Core Prime, so I was looking for info to root and ROM his phone. If you, someone who's actively been looking for the info hasn't found anything yet, it's pretty unlikely that I will. Looks like he just had the crummy luck of ending up with the variant that doesn't have much dev support. Thanks for the reply, though. People over in the SPH-L720 section don't tend to be nearly so helpful.

Is his Core Prime model SM-S820L? If so, I remember using Kingroot to root and then SuperSu Me to remove Kingroot and retain root. You can find SuperSu Me in the Aptoide app store.
After I rooted my phone, I installed TWRP with ODIN3. You do need to have the Samsung Drivers setup and Kies3 installed to have all needed drivers in order to use ODIN3 in your phone's download(ODIN) mode.
I have seen very few threads on this forum about this device being very challenging and difficult to root, and little to no custom ROM's available for this device. Only information I know about this device after researching is that it is a " rebranded Verizon device." I saw one post about a test rom to root the device on 5.0.2, which I may try, but that's not what I was looking for. Many people (including me,) have been looking for custom ROMs for ages just for a slightly outdated device. If there is any ROM out there that works and removes all of the bloatware that the stock rom has, let me know and I will be willing to try with this device. And yes, my device is on stock 6.0.1.
You, the viewer have a great morning/afternoon/night! Thank you.
A potential device gone to waste.....
