I am on an s10+ with android 11.
Samsung device care
Under storage for internal storage use to be clear app cache, its gone.
I did this not to long ago and it was there now its gone.
so i reverted from latest v13 device care by uninstalling device care from adb uninstall package-name and adb install-existing package name, it dropped to v12 but that option i said is missing is still gone
even if i try install v13 apk "not from playstore" it says app not installed and i tried installing through adb cmd line and it gives an error about DOWNGRADE failed but its uninstalled
its missing from my tab s7+ as well, dunno why this got moved to s10 section, thats not the topic.
nvidia shield android tv has clear all app caches why not samsung?
makes no sense.
had to pay $5 for sd maid, prob owned by samsung by 3rd party.
uhg, its like being wrapped in a comforter in 95f heat, want out of android.

First of all, I'd like to say that I'm making this thread after countless hours of hopeless google search and a very short but rude cal with the LG LatAm support.
I got a second hand LG L3 (e400g) as a gift after my previous phone was stolen, I can't really get anything else due to lack of money so I intend to use this little baby for quite some time.
First of all, I noticed it didn't had WhatsApp, which is crucial for my work, or Facebook or Messenger so I went to get them from the Play Store but it always crashed, I found out the phone had no Google Play services so after getting an apk for that and updating the Play Store and trying to download any application the download always said "pending" and nothing happened so I downloaded an Whatsapp apk and tried to install it, but I found out I only had 5 mb of storage free because Play Store + Play Store services had taken 100mb out of the measly 150 mb the phone comes with (the other 45 being occupied with what I guess are system files and stuff.
Alright, didnd't matter, started to look for some help and found out that by rooting the phone I could install custom play store apks that would most likely work and, more importantly, I could delete bloatware and install apps on the 1gb internal and external memories.
I tried to Install the LG drivers but I couldn't make them work on my PC so rooting at home wasn't an option, called LG to ask for help on how to install that but they told me I was a poorfag for purchasing and old second-hand phone and couldn help me (not their exact words but it surely felt like that).
Tried installing the drivers at work and they worked! So i, very happily, tried to finally root my phone using Spectrum Root but it couldn't work either, so I tried SuperOneClick and it didn't work either. I took some screens but currently I'm at home and I forgot to bring them with me but Spectrum couldn't root anything because it "couldn't create directories" and SuperOneClick just froze on the 7th step of shell root.
What can I do? Anything that doesn't involve getting a new phone because honestly this is the only thing I could afford and I won't be able to change phone for some months so any help would be really appreciated.
TL;DR: Phone can't acces play store, stupidly small storage space and there's no apparent way to root it.

Root the phone with KingoRoot, it worked in my LG Optimus L5 E610/E612(f)...
Install Root Browser or a smaller size root browser app (download through your PC and put it in the phone) and delete some system apps/bloatware and get App2SD to install your apps to SD Card.

I used kingo root and it was a success, however it didn't install any SU terminal or something like that which made me think the root didn't work. I googled some stuff and found out sometimes while it works it doesn't install the SU terminal so I had to get a 3rd party terminall app, i typed "su" and the "$" changed to a "#" which supposedly means it works. I got App2SD but the only apps it shows to transfer to the SD card are the ones I installed manually, none of the bloatware or default ones. And when I tried to use the terminal to set the default install location the SD card (pm setInstallLocation 2) it apparently didn't work because when I pressed enter to input the code the "#" didn't reappeared and the any other code I used later like "date" or "exit" did nothing either.

Use Root Checker Basic to see if you have rooted it successfully!
Use root browser to free some memory by deleting system apps and then get Ext2SD (I think that's the app's name or whatever), it swaps your SD card's memory with your internal memory, so for example, if you have a SD card with 64gb and you swap memories using the app, you'll get 64gb internal memory, google it!

Root checker said yes but I still couldn't use any SU command, so I just did the unthinkable and ran Kingo Root again and it finally worked 100%. But that didn't fixed the whole play store thing so I just flashed the phone and isntalled CM9 and it worked. I can use the play store and download stuff but only the original 2.3.6 one, if I update it it stops working but I don't care and I don't really want to fix that because I may break something else.
Now for the storage, I could finally use App2SD (Which is apparently called Link2SD or something like that because googling App2SD only gave me results of Link2SD) And save a whole lot of space on my phone and could finally install whatsapp and a couple of browsing apps and stuff but I couldn't install for example facebook because, while I could copy like half of the app to the SD I couldn't copy the data folder.
I searched for your app's name in your previous post but It turns out Ext2SD isn't an app but rather something like a partition format so I got a partition app and partitioned half of the Internal SD but it couldn't copy anything there and I couldn't recover the space either so half the internal memory is kinda dead now. Is there any way to fix this and to have some more storage space without breaking the phone?

I don't know... Try searching in the internet or just reflash CM9 and see if the partitions are fixed.
So here is my situation.... I have a damaged digitizer (the component which makes touch screen work) and Samsung have said they will repair it under warranty. I have not rooted or flashed anything to this phone yet as I always wait until the warranty expires for this exact reason.
However, the technician at Sammy have told me part of the repair process is to reset the phone so I need to do a backup. Great, lets install custom recovery and make a nandroid backup of the phone and also root to use titatnium as a backup backup. Oh wait, Sammy says thats voids the warranty!! Hmmmm, what other options do I have to backup.....
I was advised to use Samsung Smart Switch to create a backup and then restore that to the restored phone. But after using this app, it only backs up the APKs of all apps then the data of a select few apps. Well thats not a backup in my eyes! For example, I have an app with an 8MB APK. The data it uses is 150MB (no cache). The app states the backup of this app is 8MB. Anyone see the pattern??
So the reason I am here is to see if the XDA community can confirm what I believe to be my only option left.
I understand you can fastboot into a TWRP recovery which means that TWRP is not installed but is run like a Linux Live CD. I assume therefore this means I can create my full nandroid backup and restore this after my phone is reset. Am I correct in thinking this? Will having this temporary TWRP trip knox or anything else which will void my warranty? Is there an issue with DMVerity by attempting to run TWRP this way?
Lastly, I have been trying to work out if my phone has a locked bootloader but I am struggling to find out if it has or not. I have the SM-G935F variant on the Three network in the UK. I have restarted my phone in recovery mode and cannot see anything which would suggest a locked bootloader. Rebooting to the bootloader just starts my phone up as normal. Does anyone have a surefire way to check for a locked bootloader?
Hope someone can help!
Helium. Doesn't need root. Backs up save data of most apps. Works in conjunction with SmartSwitch. Let SmartSwitch backup the apks and all other settings. Let Helium do the 'data only' backup.

Thanks for your reply. I have looked in to Helium but it does not work out of the box for me. I believe this is down to the RPi using ARM architecture and the included adb is compiled for x86 / x64.
Luckily this isnt my first time with adb so I already have it installed for the RPi. So taking the script run.sh and reading in to it, I will run the commands manually and see if I can work around the included adb instead.
I will definitely be looking at koush's github to see what this com.koushikdutta.shellproxy.ShellRunner2 app is but he has a hell of alot of repos to look through!
I will update when I have more.
Well thats a fail!
Here is my update to the script to use the adb I have on my RPi (adb installed using apt-get install android-tools-adb):
Code:
pkg=$(adb shell pm path com.koushikdutta.backup)
pkg=$(echo $pkg | cut -d : -f 2 | sed s/\\r//g)
echo $pkg
adb shell << EOF
CLASSPATH=$pkg app_process /system/bin com.koushikdutta.shellproxy.ShellRunner2 [email protected] &
exit
EOF
And this is my output:
Code:
$ adb devices
List of devices attached
9885e6************ device
$ ./run.sh
/data/app/com.koushikdutta.backup-1/base.apk
CLASSPATH=/data/app/com.koushikdutta.backup-1/base.apk app_process /system/bin com.koushikdutta.shellproxy.ShellRunner2 &
exit
pp_process /system/bin com.koushikdutta.shellproxy.ShellRunner2 & <
[1] 31207
[email protected]:/ $ exit
sh: resetreason: can't execute: Permission denied
From the start I didnt understand how the app can access other app data without being rooted and the fact I'm getting permission denied seems to reinforce that. Looks like I'll be contacting the dev instead.
Don't you have a PC? Basically Helium without root simulates a connected PC, allowing app data backup. To activate the app, download the PC program and install, and install the app on the phone. Open app on phone and program on PC, plug the phone in, follow the instructions on the phone, then wait for activation.

My phone is now my PC. I can cast my phone screen to my TV and use a bluetooth mouse n keyboard to do almost anything i can do on a PC
For the few things i cant do, I use a RPi and thats based on Linux. The instructions you gave is exactly what i am doing but using linux instead. The helium desktop 'app' is available on linux according to the support page (its really just a script which runs adb commands).
Since i have adb on Raspbian anyway, i just modified the script to use my built in version of adb as the bundled version is not compiled for ARM. The permission denied message is from the phone itself. So something else is going wrong. When i run the android app though it allows me to make backups but it doesnt look complete to me, much like the Smart Switch backup wasnt complete.
Fyi, i am a web developer by trade but dabble in python and c programming. I am currently writing my own android app to control my custom made home automation system using an API. Thats why i have adb preinstalled. So i am used to dealing with code to work out problems. I will liaise with the dev about the permission denied error as soon as i find the correct repo to report it in!
I've never been able to ge Helium to work reliably on my edge. Most of the time it won't work at all. Crappy unsupported software.
Unfortunately I've not found any solution that backs up everything, or even close to everything. Smart Switch will back up some, RERWARE's MyBackupPro will back up some. And those seem to be the best options out there. It's borderline criminal that Google still hasn't bothered to build a full backup solution into Android.
The Apps themselves should be set to use Google's online backup, but not all of them do. Games mostly follow. On restoring your phone, it will ask you if you want to restore from backups of your apps Google made, but that only works if the app developers were compliant with standards Google presented.

Helium is working even with the permission denied error. The app runs and allows me to make backups but as ever, they dont appear to be complete. For example, as mentioned in original post, the backup only takes the 8MB APK and not the 150MB data. Its the same as Smart Switch.
As to the Google backup, you can now view these backups in the Google Drive app and only half my apps are there and again they dont look complete backups (one backup is apparently 1KB but app manager says it 12MB data).
I noticed that app manager reports data size but even this isnt accurate. If your app stores data in a folder on internal storage or sd card then this isnt counted as data. Only that in the data partition appears to count. My Torque logs are a prime example of this. 56MB of files on internal storage, app manager reporting 292KB data. No backup at all on Google Drive.
Im trying do a nandroid backup using a temporary recovery. Ive tried 'fastboot boot twrp.img' and 'fastboot boot recovery twrp.img' but neither work. Nothing is recognised with 'fastboot devices' which is concerning. I also cant use 'adb reboot bootloader' as the phone just restarts like normal. Samsung and Three have both said they dont lock the bootloader so im at a loss as what to do next :/
That's weird. Helium works for me. I wonder what's the difference.

THIS ^^ Exactly my thoughts. Without root and TWRP / Titanium you're screwed
Hello!!
My phone is an S7 Edge with Android 7.0. I am trying to manually install updates from apps included in the stock, like the calendar, messages ... etc. However I can not do it because it gives me this error: " App not installed. The package conflicts cith an existing package by te same name".
Please, can someone help me with this?
Uninstall the app and install the newest. If you have still the problem try install over ADB. Then you can see package name with conflict and uninstall it.
Hi,
You're trying to install two apps with the same package name, in Android data system the apps you install have its data saved in a folder with the format /data/*package name*/, therefore if two apps use the exact same package name and have different signatures (that is, one is not the update of another) you won't be able to install it.
As suggested, try to uninstall the stock apps and then install again manually. However I do not think you'll be able to do it, due to the nature of stock apps being installed in system partition. So for manually installing an stock app you'll first need to uninstall it, and that usually requires superuser privileges.
All the best,
~Lord

That is the answer I have searched for days. You know APKMIRROR right? I am on unrooted SM-G935F (s7 edge) and I was not able to install any system apps before. But in apkmirror, some people uploaded newer versions of system apps and there was one visible difference: older versions which I cannot install was with android head icon, but newer version had it's own app icon next to the name, and that installed for me. For example s8 launcher (touchwiz home). I always got package error when tried to download versions with android head, and when someone uploaded version with its own icon, it installed. Can you explain this?
And now im waiting for new versions of s8 weather widget because there is no version available with the app icons....
All you need to to to install Touchwiz 9.0 is to encript device, and afterward install will go smoothly (All other experience 9.0 apps can be installed too).(Samsung S6, Android 7.0, December security patch).
I was recently given a Galaxy On5 after my S4 stopped receiving calls (and it was free, so ...). I have some experience with rooting, but for various reasons I don't want to do that this time. (It's partly because Pokemon Go is one of the activities that my kids will occasionally do with me, and that has gotten flakey on my tablet even with Magisk allowing SafetyNet check to pass).
Sadly, there is just not enough room on this phone for apps that I can't get along without and that won't run from external storage.
I have disabled the Play Music(etc.) apps, Amazon, and every other unnecessary preinstalled app that I can. I have moved everything that will still run to the external storage. I've been experimenting with APK Editor, but things like my employer and bank apps won't run when moved out of internal storage. I did some research and figured out how get root access via ADB and TWRP without actually rooting the phone. With that access, I have successfully deleted the audio files for notifications and ringtones that I don't like, and also Galaxy Apps (which I've never used on 2 previous phones or my tablet). So now I'm trying to get rid of Knox, and it doesn't seem to be working :crying:
Fortunately, I have been saving TWRP backups after each successful tweak, so I can restore without too much trouble.
Here's what I've done:

Unfortunately, when I try to reboot from TWRP back into the system after deleting those resources, it gets to the white T-Mobile screen and stops. I've tried twice, and the second time I let it sit for 30 minutes before I pulled the battery.
What am I deleting that the system needs? (And while I have your attention, will there be any problem if I delete the Samsung browser? It's way bigger than apps like Opera or Firefox Focus. I also prefer Inbox; can I get rid of GMail?)
Thanks in advance ~ LU
Replying to myself: I discovered that some apps (Milk Music, T-Mo caller ID, Samsung printserver, etc.) deleted via Terminal would reappear after booting normally.
I ended up getting App Inspector (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bg.projectoria.appinspector) and Package Disabler (http://www.packagedisabler.com/owner-app/) and using them together with TWRP to disable and/or delete unwanted apps. Knox wasn't going to free up very much space, so I disabled those packages, but deleted other apps that I knew I'd never want to restore. Deleting was done in the TWRP File Manager with the /system R/W mounted.
It took a long time, because I only deleted a few apps at a time (both app and data folders identified by App Inspector), rebooted normally (system), made sure everything worked and they were gone, Then went back into TWRP, backed everything up again, and started on the next handful of deletions. In total, I got rid of about .6GB of bloat (doesn't sound like much, but on an 8GB drive, it made a difference. (GMail, Amazon, Samsung Browser and Youtube were all among the deletions).
Got my OP8P a week ago. I have since rooted and installed Nethunter and have had a great time
Recently started getting the error that i have "insufficient storage" and google play will no longer install any apps. Even if i delete an app it says it cant install.
Now im stuck without two apps i wanted.
I have cleared cache and storage on google play and still the error persists. I have restarted numerous times.
If i download the APK it installs fine
I have 160GB free on my phone so its a bit disappointing
Any ideas?

Check under settings (within phone) / apps / Google play / permissions / storage
Also does it have the right to install apps.
Guessing you're rooted, turn on systemless and reboot.
So it has all needed permissions. And I've already installed a few apps from the store
I tried the "systemless" from magisk and rebooted...no dice
So weird, it randomly started working today. I can now download apps off google play.
I nearly cried tears of joy.
To all concerned i did nothing out of the ordinary besides install APK's manually from apkpure.com
Interestingly enough when i downloaded spotify it wouldnt open. just kept crashing
after downloading from google play it opened right up
Glad you got it sorted! cheers
Well just when i thought i was in the clear....
it came back. but worse this time
Now when i get that error my phone seems to loose its storage altogether
by that i mean once it says insufficient storage on google play my pictures will ALL disappear
if i go to the file explorer it tells me there is NOTHING on my phone at all
if i reboot it will start working again but then will usually fail once i get an error regarding the oneplus system service
still trying to figure this out. i may roll back to Oxygen OS 11 (vs. 11.0.2.2)
"insufficient storage" on youre Google?

It is now affecting me outside of the play store. I cant take pictures and when i use file explorer (the oneplus app not root file explorer or any third party app) it says i dont have any files at all
This can only be fixed with a restart and it seems to come back at random times. hasnt done it it a while but im sure it will
