Hello. I was trying to play with 3rd party vibration test app named Vibrations-Test. After i clicked the right-bottom power button and start to moving the sliders, i noticed really cracky sound that came out of that vibration motor (sample below).
Can someone test this too if it is factory defect on all units or just mine?
Sample of weird vibration sound
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install app mentioned above
2. Start the test by clicking the "power button" at bottom-right corner
3. Move the slider slowly and hear the vibrations

Works fine with me. Can be multiple reasons. If its not making such sound in normal working conditions then you are good to go. For safe side you can contact service centre

I too got a cracky sound when I tested this app after you mentioned, is it a hardware or software fault?

Hi there,
I am a little ticked off with the way the phone switches the light off and you HAVE to press a button to get it back up when in the middle of a call.
Is there any way to keep the phone awake while on a call? Ofcourse, I HAVE tried out "Shake Awake", but thats a little buggy too.
And also, the buttons for Hold, Mute, Speaker mode and all those options come up only when you press the menu button. Is there any alternate dialler available or something which can get all these options on the screen while on the call like the iPhone as its easier to use it than press the button to get the options?
just install keepscreen.
edit: this will keep the screen alive. about the alternative dialer i don't know. but be aware that the phone has no proximity sensor, so you are prone to accidentally press random buttons.
Cool. Will check it out man. Thanks.
I have a different problem - since, sadly, Hero has not got a proximity sensor, I constantly drop my calls by accidently touching the end call button with my cheek. I believe that's a reason the screen backlight goes off so quickly during a call - when the screen is off, it does not react to touch too, so that accident call drops would be less likely.
There are still some serious problems though. First of all, screen timeout during a call is not short nough - while you can know that you must wait a few seconds before you can actually touch the phone with the face, others can't, so call drops are, sadly, unavoidable in such cases. The fact that hold, mute and other buttons are hidden under the menu button is a good thing not only because it keeps Android phillosophy straight, but reduces chances of unwanted misc. actions. The solution of this problem could be an option to disable the end call button, since there are dedicated hardware keys for that.
I have also noticed that if you minimize the dialer during a call with home button, the screen timeout will not be quick, so before continuing a call it's a good idea to bring the dialer back by tapping the hardware call button so the screen timeout becomes quiick again.
Very true. I thought about all these before I posted, but on the other end, I just said 'f it' to myself and asked it here.. hehe.
I wonder if iPhone users have such issues.
As someone in this forum mentioned, it is best to have the screen switched OFF during a call, unless you have something to do. This way, it prevents you from fiddling with the controls.
Not just the hero, earlier models too have this feature. It quite odd in the beginning, but you will love it later.

Not necessary!
During a call
- Press "Call" to hold (will also mute)
- Press and hold "Call" to activate speaker mode.
I have noticed that my S4 forgets mute settings after a while and returns to normal vibrate and sound notifications without me changing it. First I thought I accidentally hit the volume rockers on the side, but I just noticed (in a meeting, embarrassingly) that it happens even when I definitely do not touch the rockers. All I did was hitting the home button a few times and unlocking the screen - but nothing that would change the volume setting.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Could it be a third party app that produces this "feature"?
My new N7 (2013) doesn't play the "touch sounds" consistently, they're missing in about ~10% of all touches that would usually play the sound. The touch itself is registered, e.g. an app will open or the home button will go to home, just without the sound.
I just noticed that this seems to be connected to the loudness, it doesn't happen in the top 3 volume settings. On my device it starts with the media volume set to "4 clicks down from max" and below.
Speakers seem to function fine otherwise.
Anyone who can confirm this?
EDIT: A good way to reproduce this bug: set volume to 50%, tap a folder icon (opening a folder should trigger a touch sound), close folder - wait about 5 seconds before the next tap.
Doing the same procedure very fast plays the touch sound every time. Weird! If no one else can confirm this, I guess I'll have to send it back. :-|
I can't reproduce it.
I am experiencing the exact same issue, and can reproduce it consistently. Happens on both JSS15Q and JSS15R. This is a warranty replacement that just arrived a couple of days ago. I think I will call and get another replacement. I have no idea what could be causing this, but it's annoying, and can't be a good sign.
I prefer using the touch feedback sound when tapping on my screen. Now, the only thing that drives me a bit crazy is that whenever I touch the back button or the recent app button, I hear some kind of double popping sound instead of one clear pop. Funnily, it only happens on these two buttons, no where else. Tapping something on the screen is no problem. Even tapping the home button sounds normal.
By the way, I'm using the European model with the latest Nougat firmware.
I want to know if this problem is just on my device or if other people also hear this? Is there a quick fix maybe? Did it happen before in older firmwares? (I recently got this phone and I updated it straight to the latest version...)

I always use my device on vibrator and found out that the vibrator will vibrate twice sometimes when touching the buttons. What the hecc
This would mean that the actual problem is the detection of touches. I'd love to be a dev just to see how they implemented things like that one
ZTE made a lot of these hard coded stuff here and there... notif led, vibrator strength...

So I guess it's not an isolated problem ?
Nah you are not "solo" with that trouble. I've also found that this bug occours sometimes. A2017G B04 here.
I have a Moto G6 Plus Dual Sim and would like to know if I can adjust the Call/Notification Volume on my phone with the button on the side of the phone. In the information supplied this button is set by Default to Media and what I want to do is change the Media for the Call/Notification Volume so I don't have to go into the settings and adjust the sliders. This is a pain every time I wish to alter the Volume of my Notifications as on my old Moto G5 I was able to control the Volume from the side button.Any help would be gratefully received. Many thanks Sethnettles.
Yes, the pie update has changed the volume button function. There is a sound on/off/vibrate button on top when using the volume rocker but that's it... I haven't found a way to change it. I really cannot understand why such basic functionality that has "always" been available in Android has been taken out!

Good Morning, Many thanks for your reply and now I have got this sorted can you help me with another problem??I used to receive an Audible and Vibration alert for both my Call/Notifications eg:-E-Mail etc but now I only get an Audible Ringtone for both.I have been into settings and the Vibration is Turned ON I have also been into the Moto Help and Hardware Test and tested the Vibration which works fine is there any other settings or something else that I should turn on which I possibly have either mistakenly turned off or missed altogether???I have tried all the Icons when the Volume Button is pressed and I can turn OFF and ON both the Audible and Vibrate and both are OK as is the Call/Notification Volume so all I require is for Both Audible and Vibrate to work when I receive either a Call or E-Mail??Hope you can help,Regards,Sethnettles.
I believe that it has to be set for each application individually, in the settings menu of the application.

Good Morning and MANY THANKS for your prompt reply.I have now gone into Apps-Notifications-Advanced and found the area where I can turn the Vibrate on so I have done that and I'm pleased to advise you that I now have both working simultaneously. What caused the problem is that about 500 mtrs from my house there are 2 high rise blocks ready for demolition with a lot of Cellular Antenna's on top.As the Vodafone Network keeps saying NETWORK ANOMILIY I kept loosing the Network and after contacting Vodafone they said the system was OK and the problem was with my Apps.So I uninstalled and reinstalled my Apps that were playing up and I completely missed to turn on the Vibrate in Notifications but you have saved the day.As for Vodafone they have now admitted that there is an ongoing intermittent fault on the network in my area (I suspect it's something to do with this demolition job as none of the Antenna have been removed as yet.) Once again MANY MANY THANKS for all your help.Best Wishes to All,Sethnettles.
