[SM-T590] adb reboot sideload leads to death - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
im currently stuck. i once bootet directly into sideload mode and that worked. Awfully no PC and Cable Combination connects to TAB in Sideload Mode.
When i rebboot manually it only boots into sideload again. So i cant try other things...
Has somebody had a same issue and was able to solve it?
regards
Daniel

What do you mean by "sideload mode"? The only way to enter sideload mode is either commanding it via ADB, or selecting the option in recovery.

Hey,
i used "adb reboot sideload". Everytime i Boot now, it starts in sideload Mode. But none of my devices is connecting to it. so i cant flash something new, or send commends to leave sideload Mode.

You should be able to use adb reboot to reboot normally. You can also use adb reboot download for download mode, or adb reboot recovery for recovery.

Which twrp, first version didn't have adb support as I recall...
Happened to me too. Go to device manager and uninstall any drivers, then install generic adb device

2017G can´t boot into recovery

Hy,
i,m on 2017G B03
Just tried to install the original twrp version. Now my phone doesnt boot into recovery but still boots rom. I´m also not able to boot into edl.
Any ideas?
Yours

If your phone is rooted, you can use flashify to install the newest TWRP.
Otherwise booting into edl by either "adb reboot edl" or pressing (volume up + volume down + power) should work otherwise your phone is broken.
Last Option would be to boot into fastboot ("adb reboot fastboot") and flash via "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" (please note that your bootloader needs to be unlocked for this operation)
Flahify worked!
Thank you
What happens when you boot your device, enable usb debugging, connect it to your pc, open up a command window in the folder where you downloaded adb and enter the command "adb reboot edl"? What does it say?
Try restarting your adb server with "adb kill-server" followed by "adb start-server" and then retry the "adb reboot edl" command.
Also try to kill the "adb.exe" process in task manager before trying again.
Alternatively, you can try powering the phone off, and then holding both volume buttons while connecting it via USB. Some users manage to get to EDL this way, but personally I get DFU mode.
If you manage to get the phone in EDL mode, try restoring the stock recovery backup you made with the axon7tool and then reflashing TWRP. One user reported this fixed his similar issue.
EDIT: Too late Wonderful to see everyone helping each other so quickly.

*SOLVED* Embarrassed to ask for help - but please help!

Hi guys,
Unable to boot after c*cking up a manual upgrade from B10 to B11 on my A2017G and would love your input. I feel like if I can just install TWRP again it should be an easy fix. Here's some specifics:
1. my phone is unlocked, rooted and running stock firmware.
2. I was trying to install stock recovery to install the B11 update. I did so but also tried to install another zip (B10 bootloader?) which I seem to have flashed wrong. Now just get the screen as shown on attachment and cannot boot.
3. Stock recovery seems to have been flashed and I can boot to this. From here I can boot to bootloader but can't seem to do anything from there.
4. I try update via ADB with the sideload command, but get the message "E:footer is wrong. E: Signature verification failed. Installation aborted".
5. I try to Update from SD as have the firmware zip file and TWRP on the root of my external SD card, but get the message "Couldn't Mound /sdcard, aborted."
6. The only time my phone shows as a connected device in ADB is when I try to sideload files. No other ADB code seems to work, only get the message "error: closed" on the terminal.
Assuming I've got all the firmware files (and full backups on my external SD) I feel like if I can just install TWRP again it should be an easy fix. So, any ideas on how I install TWRP given situation above?
Best,
Neil

Are you able to boot into EDL mode by typing ADB reboot edl ?
If so you can flash desired recovery with axon7tool

Hi, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately not, just get the message "error: closed" in the terminal. Is there a button combination I could press in order to get into EDL?

Try vol+ + vol- + power
it seems that the only time my device will show as connected in ADB is when I navigate through Recovery and select the "Apply Update from ADB" option. But even then, whilst it shows as connected, it only seems to allow the "sideload" command. Please see screenshot of Terminal. So at no other time will it show as a connected device.
Similarly, to have it show up in Device Manager, it'll only show when I switch the phone off, hold down Vol+ & Vol- and attached the power cable.
You are still on MM. So you are able to boot into bootloader.
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
Now it should show your device as fastboot
If so you can now flash recovery with “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img“

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately as mentioned the only time my device shows as connected in Terminal is when I select "Update via ADB" whilst in recovery. Otherwise the device never shows as connected in adb.
So unfortunately fastboot doesn't seem to be an option for me.
Perhaps my drivers are out of whack but assuming what I've done to my phone hasn't changed that, it must be something PC - side.

But what if it shows your device as sideload? Can't you there reboot into fastboot?
No, it doesn't accept the command. Only one accepts is sideload. You can see from my screenshot a few posts back that the device is connected but shows different to how it normally would.
Breakthrough!
I seemed to follow the steps I've tried 100 times today and I now have TWRP installed again!
Thanks again to those who helped

That's normal.
If you have custom recovery you can get adb working in recovery, but stock recovery has no adb.
Fastboot never had adb, and never will.

Fastboot mode issue in MiA1

Hi.
Recently I decided to flash lineage os 15.1 on my MiA1
For that I have downgrade to Android nougat.
After downgrading I booted my device.
After setting up device I booted device in fastboot mode to follow further steps like flashing TWRP and all but the problem is my device goes in fastboot mode and it is not identified by abd and after that it is automatically getting restarted and is not holding in fastboot mode.
Please help??
Odd issue. What are you using to flash? If you are using XiaoMiFlash.exe, you'll want to try the (THIS WILL REMOVE ALL YOUR DATA) "clean all" option. Please note that this removes all your data.
I have used MiFlash tool for this and now My device automatically reboot from fastboot mode so I am not able to use adb as well to flash rom or twrp also Now MiFlash tool is not recognising the device.

Hmm. What ROM version are you trying to flash on this? If your device isn't recognized by your PC when in fastboot mode, I'm not sure how you'd flash it.

It should boot if you've fully flashed it and cleaned the user data partition. If it still isn't, you'll want to wait for other members with more experience in bricks to chime in.

My device is booting up without any problems.
But the problem is bootloader is still unlocked. So i am not able to update via OTA.
And as the device does not holds in fastboot mode so I am not able to do other flash work.
Is there any way I can share a video of my problem with you?

Oh. If it's booting up fine, then you shouldn't be worried too much.
If it keeps restarting in Fastboot mode, it could be a driver issue which is preventing your PC from recognizing your device and vice versa. I'm on Windows 10 which installs drivers automatically so I've never had experience with it.

Please see this video.
If i boot in fastboot mode the device should be in fastboot mode till power button is not pressed for at least 10 seconds.
But in this case it gets switched off.
I have not connected the USB to pc and nothing else.

I think that's expected behavior? If it doesn't recognize itself being connected to a device, it'll exit fastboot mode.
I think you need to connect it to the USB cable and into your PC for it to not restart/power off.

So do you know how can I help myself out?
wait.. what exacly did you do when you booted into fastboot? did you type "adb devices" or "fastboot devices"? also, try rebooting into fastboot mode by typing "adb reboot bootloader" in cmd, with your phone plugged into your pc, and with the proper platform-tools installed. it shouldn't really go away from fastboot mode like that.

Hy man, I know basic of adb and I use cmd "adb devices"
My device is recognised when it is on.
I can also give various cmd like boot in recovery or fastboot mode or reboot and the device follow the instructions.
Please see the video that I've shared.
Once fastboot mode is on the device is automatically restarted in about 10 to 15 sec and within this time MiFlash tool or adb cmd prompt bot does not recognise my device.
I have tried to flash OTA via adb side load but it is showing error.
Help me with your input!

Your device doesn't get detected in your CMD prompt when it's in fastboot AND you type "fastboot devices"?
If it doesnt then you might have flashed something incorrectly.
Also, make sure to have your android drivers up to date in your pc. It's very, very likely that you don't have them installed on your PC, or they are outdated. See this: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/oem-usb.html
And this: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html
I have faced this issue. Yesterday i dirty flashed a custom rom. but i forgot how to dirty flash. i just simply flashed the rom and restarted the phone. it was mandatory to flash custom recovery and gapps after flashing a rom dirtily or normally. but i didn't. After the reboot completed, i remembered that i didn't flashed the twrp and gapps. So, i go back recovery mod, guessed i could flash twrp now. But i didn't see any custom recovery on my phone. But the phone boots, and i can use the phone. Still, i'm on that phone, while i'm typing this comment. i didn't lost my data cause i flashed dirtily. But the problem is, as i didn't flashed gapps or magisk (for root access), now i can't use google apps like, play store, and more. As i don't have root access on my phone so, i can't run flasify, to flash custom recovery. neither i can run other apps that need root. As i didn't flash custom recovery, now i can't flash gapps, magisk and whatever that needs a custom recovery.
I told some rom porter about the matter. They told me to flash stock rom. So, i was trying to flash stock rom. but flashing stock rom requires a fastboot mode. But my fastboot logo doesn't appear and it's blank. I told this to a rom porter. But he said, He doesn't know about that and he can't help.
