Optimizing for battery health - Without Root? - Google Pixel 4 Questions & Answers

Has anyone found a way to access the 80% charging 'Optimizing for battery health' mode directly? For example via ADB?
I know there are some apps & plugins to do this but they require root which will void my warranty.
Thanks

Samsung S6 edge + battery problem

Hi,
I'm new to Android so please help me. About 2 days ago i bought a Samsung S6 edge +, everything it's working fine on it except the battery... even when i take him out off the charger in Battery section says that i have only 10 H aprox to go with it...is this normal? And the big problem is that if i leave him with 80% battery, in the morning i have only 32% with background apps closed before sleep. I mention that i have 6.0.1 on it and i have warranty so i don't realy want to root the phone or something that will make me lose the warranty.
Thank you!

Hello Snapydj, I think the problem can be caused by any app you installed. For be sure, first thing is restart de phone in safe mode (you can search how to do it here in this fórum) and see the behaviour of the phone in terms of battery. If the problem persists, try a full wipe and don't install immediately any app from play store. See the behaviour and then install apps one by one and observe battery drain. After all these steps if the problem continue you must send it to warranty.
I wonder I could help you.

Hi,
I searched yesterday a couple of hours on forums and i think i find the answer. There are many threads that says that it is a known problem for S6 and S6 edge, they called it Deep Sleep problem. But any fix for it that i can find is with root, and i don't want to root the phone... I can't post external link because i am a new user on this forum...

Not at all. Yes, there is a deep sleep problem but is not the case of you certainly, because even with deep sleep issue in S6 edge+, it doesn't make battery drain like you have. I can say to you that my battery drain over the night isn't more than 1 to 2% per hour. So your phone has a abnormal battery drain for a regular S6 edge+ with stock rom. I remember you that my phone is standard, not rooted
Check your knox in bootloader. Maybe your phone has root before you buy it. Turn off . Press volume down, home and power button. Relase it when green screen appears. Then continue. Check info about knox warranty. There should be all 0. If you see somewhere 1 it will means that your phone has root before.

Hi,
I checked there and you're right. Appears void 1 but I checked with a program and says that the phone doesn't have root. I took the phone before I used it on a service shop to unlock to work on all carriers because was locked on single one. Maybe that's why appears void 1 there right ? I flashed myself yesterday afternoon the last build for 6.0.1 and now I'm waiting to see if something changed.. And then I restore to factory settings and then cleaned wipe partition.

Hi ,
I want to share with you the fix i found. So... as you know , i have flashed another build of 6.0.1 , the general version for Romania. This still hasen't fix my problem, but last night after reading more post, i saw someone who said that if you have knox tripped to 1 is a known bug to have battery drain and the only fix is to root the phone, so i said that i should try this too. I root the phone with CF root method through Odin and then install CPU Spy and 3Cpu and ... surprise!! ... Cpu's are going to sleep now, and the problem is fixed. I don't need to install anything else (on some forums says that you have to install twrp recovery and the install a zipp).
Now the only question is, i don't know why knox was tripped to 1 ... the phone wasn't rooted before... i read somewhere that even if you flash another stock rom with odin you trigger know , is this true ? Is any method that i can reset the counter after i unroot the phone ? I mean i don't want to lose warranty.
Rooting always trips Knox, and tripping Knox is irreversible.

I don't think you understand. Knox was already tripped before I root the phone. And only thing has happened before was flashing another stock rom on the phone.

I understand, you don't.
Your phone had been previously rooted. Whenever and whoever unrooted it at a later date is irrelevant - knox is tripped.
You asked if there is any other method to reset the counter. The answer is no.

if you knox is 1 ,you will be lost of warranty.[/B
normal ,flash another stock rom will not tripped knox .
only flash custom rom or twrp will trippe knox.
after you trippe knox ,knox cannot go back 0.
FOR YOU BATERRY ,
YOU CAN use debloater to debloatware of preinstallar system app.
here is link [ if you like ]
Universal Debloater-Mod for S6EdgePlus - v2.2 | AUTO-ROOT & BUSYBOX |
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/development/universal-debloater-mod-s6edge
this will save alot of baterry.
or flash custom rom
for example like
Pure-Stock ExtraLite Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/development/sm-g928c-pure-stock-extralite-rom-t3383399
FOR you flash rom , one thing importante
you need backup EFS .

help my knox block debug usb

hello to all, on a galaxy A5 due to safety I activated the "my knox" bad idea because it does not need to practically nothing, I wanted to do a full backup and then do the root and install a new firmware but the usb debugging mode does not is more activated (remains grayed not tappabile) reading around I read that depends knox, now I want to disable it, but I can not find how to do it ... the phone does not have the root has branded TRE.IT, help me
go to settings-app and find my knox app, then uninstall it. If u can't install it use system app remover (ur device must be rooted

Features availability without root

Hello, I'm trying to figure out if I understand everything correctly
1. Root always means knox counter goes >0
1.1. That always means Samsung Pay won't work even with magisk and stuff?
1.2 What else won't work? I've read Samsung Health might be not working, but I'm not sure why as it's perfectly working on unhidden root devices.
2. Adblocking w/o is possible? Disconnect Pro is only option?
3. bixby button is mappable to anything except actions like "imediately take picture"?
4. removing bloatware is possible with Package Disabler, right?
5. What is optimal non-root backup solution that would backup both app and data? I know Helium does that with USB Debugging, but I think Samsung should have something on it's own, right? Also How good is Samsung solution for non-Samsung phones?
6. Is USB debugging working fine? I'm concerned as heard using Secure Folders disabled it. That's the only thing to be aware of?
Thx

1.1 About Samsung pay, AFAIK, it won't work. At least for now.
1.2 Secure folder won't work as well.
2. There are many options for root adblocking.. In fact, very few available for non-root devices.
3. AFAIK, no. Need to open the camera app and press the capture button.
4. Hadn't info for that since never attempted one.. Sorry..
5. There is a PC option.. I heard it is named Samsung switch or something else? Never tried it so can't say much.. The last time I'm using backup un-rooted is using helium, and I think it is good one already..
6. Never tried using USB debugging, so can't say much..
Hope this partially helps..

I would appreciate if that was supported by some kind of links. 100% of information I've seen so far is "knox counter is not revertible" and "with knox>0 Samsung Pay, Samsung Health and Secure Folder won't work"

Knox the efuse backed device in your phone which turns 0x1 and is not reversable has absolutely nothing to do with whether your device is rooted or not. It is concerned with only one thing, and that is has your device had unsigned boot images written to it. That's it, full stop. In fact, it is currently 100% for a snapdragon (n America) device to *ever* be 0x1 because the bootloader is locked and therefore it is impossible to flash any unsigned code in the first place.
I can provide you with links saying that a thing is not affected by another thing because, well, they aren't related. I would be hard pressed to find proof that monkeys don't fly out of my ass either, but I can assure you they don't.
The reason for the pervasiveness of this incorrect information is that the installation methods of some root management systems involve the writing of a custom boot image, usually to get around things like selinux without compromising safetynet. However it is that boot image patch&flash that causes 0x1, it would happen whether you also rooted or not, and if you choose a traditional systemroot (and have a signed kernel that is permissive, but all Samsung's do), then you can be rooted all day and knox isn't even capable of knowing much less changing your unsigned flash count

But is there a root for S8 (Exynoss one G950FD to be specific) that is not triggering knox->1? I kinda assumed such thing does not exists, would be happy to know I'm wrong. If there is zero-knox root, is it still hideable like magisk to be still able to pass SafetyNet?

[ROOT/KNOX] Consequences?

Hi,
I've never rooted a Knox device before, and I can't find any good generic FAQ about this subject. If there is, feel free to direct me to it and delete this post.
I've read about flashing without tripping Knox, but only other devices. It seemed to involve not flashing the recovery though... Does anyone know anything about this?
If I cannot flash without tripping Knox, can I use XPOSED/MAGISK to make my apps work as normal? Or is this only for apps that detect the device is rooted?
Will my fingerprint scanner still work in Paypal, my banking app, Samsung Pass, etc? (Not sure if this is Knox or Root related in this instance)
If no to either of the previous two questions: is there a complete list of apps that are affected by the Knox flag?

KnoxGuard Removal (KG State)

I've been messing around with this device & accidentally managed to remove KnoxGuard by downgrading from A11 (KG State: Prenormal) to stock A10 ROM. It has been running 'permanemtly' without both KnoxGuard app & KG State in Download Mode until I remove MDM through TWRP. Now, I'm able to run without MDM but KG State now exist in download mode. I also can't remove KnoxGuard app like previous else it'll get blocked.
Is there anything that I should know? Could somebody guide me to proper or better way of KnoxGuard removal?
By the way, the above is not about bypassing where Knox/MDM revert upon FOTA or Factory Reset. I'm concerned about a 'permanent' way without using those 3rd party tools.
Thanks!
Also I'm looking for it
I had figured it out. Basically, it involved downgrade/upgrade & Nandroid Erase & Re-Format. This will 'confuse' the device & boot with the ability to remove Knox Guard. Worst mine's on MDM. Successfully, did this on 7 same devices and 5 Tab A7.
By the way, this method also works on Tab A7. Try it at https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/s6-lite-malfunctioned-and-now-does-nothing.4367041/#post-86051457
