Downgrade from android 8 to 7 - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im slowly going insane with this. I need to downgrade to android 7 to unlock the bootloader but i tried every way i found and nothing worked. My device model is PRA-LX1 (and PRA-L31).

I managed to do it using HiSuite software.
"
[DOWNGRADE] In
order for dc-unlocker to read the bootloader code it is necessary to go back to an older version of android, so let's proceed as follows:
(1) We connect the mobile phone to the computer and start HiSuite, in some cases it will start automatically, and we follow the procedure that will be shown to us to enable debugging. If you have followed everything correctly HiSuite will read your device without problems.
(2) Remaining on HiSuite, click on the UPDATE SYSTEM item, a window will appear, at this point we can press on PREVIOUS VERSION (now I don't remember the precise wording) and we can start the downgrade. It will take a while.
(3) At the end of the downgrade we can start the mobile phone by skipping and ignoring the various configurations by putting the language in Italian as a matter of practicality, let's move on to the next step

Nexus bricked: What to do?? / What to do if computer turns off in the middle of flash

Requirement :
Should haveWugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit installed on your computer [with all updates installed ( not necessary),Should wait for it to download necessary updates for your device ( If no net connection then also no prob just wait) ]
( To download nrt visit wugfresh site(can't post link soory) )
You should how to connect your device using nrt, else, follow these steps,
Navigate to about phone section, while you are in the About Phone section, click on the Build Number option seven times to enable Developer mode. Then,go back to settings menu scroll down to developer options, in the Developer mode options, enable USB debugging. A screen will pop up on your phone when the program attempts to make a connection. Make sure to allow it.
Installing drivers :If the program and computer aren't recognizing your device, you will have to install software drivers. In the Nexus Root Toolkit, click on the "Full Driver Installation Guide" button and follow steps one to four. This is the most difficult part of the process. Be sure to follow the steps exactly.
Should know how to boot into bootloader.( can't post a link on where to find out sorry)
How to find if your nexus is bricked:
You see a message "Boot failed...." on your device.
The device is not booting but is staying on boot animation screen for long time (>30 minnutes).
The device is bootlooping means the device is rebooting again and again upto boot animation.
And any other problem that might result in your device, not being able to boot.
What you should do:
Don't panic this error is 100% rectifiable.
if you happened to end up in "boot failed" message on your device after the computer you were using switched off halfway through the flashing process. Then you have to restart your computer and then boot your nexus into bootloader mode and connect it to your computer.
Open Nrt ( Nexus root toolkit)
You should select change in your model type and set "select the android build you are currently running to the version of android you were trying to flash if you were trying to flash some other ROM, then just leave this step.
Then select "soft-bricked or bootloop" or "device is on or normal" depending on your device's current state and press on "Flash stock + Unroot".
you will have to either download a factory image and browse to it when asked so by the software, or let the software download it for you.
( For obtaining factory image for your nexus and search for your device based on build number of your device... )
All the screen on your computer read and do as necessary (Most of the times it is "OK" button that you have to press)
The device should be back to normal after it reboots.
Else just let me know......!
This can be done without a toolkit, Flashing factory image with fastboot instead.
Toolkits cause many of the issues on here, learning to do it manually with fastboot can both avoid issues, and fix issues. And teach people valuable skills.... As adb/fastboot are essential tools, especially with a Nexus. ?
But thanks for the info. Contributions like this are always good. ?

Well I had a different kind of problem.
My Nexus was running fine in 4.4.4 when I rooted it since it was out of warranty. It upgraded to Lollipop 5.0 without a problem and continued to function in rooted state.
It made several attempts at updating to 5.0.2 but always ended with "Failed" message. I figured unrooting the device might help with the OS upgrade. It did not and screwed up everything. I then Set it to Factory default and it went to wiped 5.0 state. Then disaster struck. I tried rooting it , unfortunately with older Chainfire which bricked the device and would not let me install 5.0. So I tried to force install 4.4.4 and then the device got bricked. I simply get the message "Boot Failed" I boot into fastboot mode and I get the basic display with green start in the upper right corner, large Android icon in the center of the screen and the standard fine text on the lower let side. Unfortunately Windows ( x64 - Ultimate) insists on recognising the device as "Unknown Device" and when I go into properties this is is what is states ...
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
Do you think I might have better luck if I tried this on a Win XP machine ? I have both, x86 and x64.
Now, can you please tell me how I can get around this problem ?
BTW I do remember olden days of Cassiopeia PDAs before the flash memory came on the stage. The original OS would be on a plugged in masked rom daughter board in the event of losing all battery power. You could always force it to load it and get to factory mode. I think it is high time Android device manufacturers reverted to this process. I believe it can live side by side with the current system at a very marginal higher cost but have a whole lot of satisfied and LOYAL customers. It would give the user ability to go to factory mode albeit without any OS updates/upgrades but a fully functional device.
Would very much appreciate your feedback.

Root Solution for Honor ShotX/7i

Hey everyone, think its a bit sad that we dont got our own phone section since ShotX/7i and the regular 7 doesnt share the same cpu architecture so forgive me for cluttering down but just wanted to try and help our fellow honor comrades
The files to do this is taken from the chinese huawei forum (http://club.huawei.com/thread-5761110-1-1.html) and thus I take no credit for the files, im merely making a english guide with chinese files to hopefully spur some development.
The root itself was made for Honor 7i which is the asian market version (I believe?) but ShotX is the same phone but for international market (with LTE 800Mhz band, not sure if there are any other differences) and root was performed and confirmed working by me on my ShotX with Lollipop 5.1.1/B130 firmware so no guarantes if it will work on other firmwares. Im also not responsible if you brick your phone or it catches on fire etc.
First you need to unlock your bootloader
and to do so you will first need to turn on the "allow bootloader oem unlock" so enter settings, about phone, and then press build number 10 times to activate "developer mode".
Go back one step into main settings and the open developer settings, find and enable "allow bootloader oem unlock" (if you have fingerprint or any other code activated then it will ask you for that code) and while you are in here make sure to click "enable usb debugging" aswell.
You will also need a bootloader unlock code from huaweis site by filling out the necessary information on this page http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail
Product model: HUAWEI ATH-UL01 (settings->about phone->model number)
Product serial number: EGQ7Nxxxxxxxxxxx (settings->about phone->Status->Serial number)
Product IMEI: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (*#06# IMEI1 or settings->about phone->Status->IMEI1)
Product ID: xxxxxxxx (*#*#1357946#*#*)
So once youve got the code, make sure to write it down on a safe place, next you need adb toolkit. May I recommend Minimal ADB? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Now when you´ve come this far, remember that as soon as you unlock your bootloader, the phone will factory reset and you will loose any data and settings made unless you make a backup before
Insert usb data cable into pc and phone, open command prompt and be in your adb installation directory.
Start with typing "adb devices" to see if your phone is detected and make sure to check on your phone when it asks for permission that you allow your pc. I was running windows 10 x64 when I rooted my phone and I didnt need any driver but your mileage may vary if on w7 or w8. Remember to use "adb kill-server" if you experience issues when trying to connect phone with adb.
If phone is detected then you should get something like
Code:
EGQ7Nxxxxxxxxxxx device
Then all is good and you can type
adb reboot bootloader
Now to check if phone still is with us you type
fastboot devices and you should see something like
Code:
8b0dd496 fastboot
If you are still with us then type fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx where the xxxx´es represent your bootloader unlock code which you should have retrieved earlier from huaweis site.
To confirm that your bootloader is unlocked, simply type fastboot oem get-bootinfo and you should see
Code:
(bootloader) Bootloader Lock State: UNLOCKED
Congrats! Now youre ready to root the phone
If you recently unlocked bootloader then you need to activate developer settings again and turn on usb debugging aswell.
Download the files below

https://mega.nz/#!9hQi2I7A!JX121sJ2vChMuxrx1puxf-L1rP9LSPaJW-JnqvEAzIg Root
Put the EMUI3.1 Android 5.1 ROOT补丁(不要双清不要解压.zip file somewhere on your phones memory storage where you can find it.
Unzip the 荣耀7i TWRP recovery.zip and open it up and then you press the second button which says TWRP REC and it should flash twrp. Power off phone and then press vol+ and power where you keep pressing vol+ but let go off power as soon as screen is lit and you should be in recovery in a bit. If you still got the default huawei recovery then redo the procedure (I pressed TWRP REC at first but didnt see any twrp installed so I then just pressed REC just to be disapointed again but 3rd time with TWRP REC it worked so not sure what goes on but just so you know if you also fail to get TWRP installed)
Once youre in twrp you will be greeted with chinese again but buttons are located on same spots so just compare it to a english twrp image https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWRP#/media/File:TWRP_2.7.0.0.png
Just press top left button and select the root file you should have putted on your phone earlier and flash it, when its done just hold the physical power button to reset incase you´re unsure of the reboot button and you should be good to go
Grats on your rooted phone, after some cleanup (possible with root) this phone is flying like never before
Some highly recommended root apps
Rom toolbox lite, so you can flash roms/mods without knowing your way in the chinese twrp and uninstall apps etc
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox&hl=sv
Kernel adiutor, great for getting a bit more performance out of the phone by tweaking cpu and gpu speed
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor&hl=sv
And lastly the great snapdragon camera which is pretty fast and nice to use which you need to flash in twrp (or with rom toolbox)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64410821&postcount=44
Its for one+ x but it works as expected for our ShotX/7i aswell (Obvisually dont use this if youre on a regular Honor 7 device since it doesnt have snapdragon processor)
thank you very much , I'll be trying my XShot
Theres a translated twrp now for those that wants

Did you tried russian forums? 4pda or others, often they have good devs there for some devices, which are not supported here on XDA.

[GUIDE] Treble ROM on the Honor 7X From Stock Guide by Christopher Lamb

[GUIDE] [ HOW TO ] Treble ROM on the Honor 7X From Stock Guide by Christopher Lamb
Today I decided to embark on the journey of installing something to rid myself of EMUI. I was tired of looking at it. Switching between my Pixel 2 and 7X was a jarring experience to say the least. Along my journey I came to find out that the unlock code hosted on some EMUI subdomained website by honor directly was down and seems to have been for months so I needed another solution. I tried contacting Huawei on Twitter to get it reset like many have suggested, but never heard back from them so here I was now with a problem. I looked for other guides and dug through XDA. Eventually I found a guide that was almost correct enough but had a lot of un needed info and I just wanted to cut to the chase. So here is my guide to do just that for the rest of you.
My Phone:
United States Model BND-L24
Running stock Oreo or newer (This is Required for treble partitions). The update that came through the other day.
Unlocking the BootloaderThis was actually a rather painless process once I realized what was involved. The method I used consisted of a small payment $4.94 USD. Which as far as I could see is the cheapest, and is required. I should also say I hate paying for things online that look kinda shady. I used bitcoin and did so in a VM. Call me paranoid, but….
You are going to need to download a few things:
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy (not a download but buy 4 coins, and save the login info it gives you then validate your email with them or your account will show as blocked in HCU)
https://hcu-client.com/
http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/HiSuite_en/index.html
Some treble rom of your choice off XDA or something. I ended up going LineageOS. The 7x is partition type A only and arm64.
Now for the fun part where we set everything up on your phone:
Go to Settings > Security & Privacy then select Allow HiSuite to use HDB.
Go to Settings > System > About Phone and tap Build Number about 5 times until you are developer.
Press back and go into the newly created developer options menu item then select Android Debugging.
Type *#*#2846579#*#* into your dialer app. A menu will pop up and follow Background Setting > USB Ports Setting then select Manufacture Mode.
Plug in your phone to your computer and setup your phone with HiSuite let it do its thing and install drivers.
Run HCU and login with the credentials they sent you after purchasing your credits. On login success make sure in the top right corner phone connectivity is set to Autodetect and click on Read Phone Info. Once this has succeeded go to the Unlock tab and click Read Bootloader Code. This will take a minute.
Save the resulting code just in case your computer crashes or something.
Completely shutdown your 7X. Hold volume down, and plug into your computer while still holding volume down to get it to boot into fastboot.
Go back to file explorer and open your HCU folder that was extracted before installing it. Press Win Key + D type in CMD and then Enter. Then enter the following command: fastboot oem unlock {enter your unlock code from earlier without the curly brackets} Then press enter. It will say some things about wiping your data. It didn't for me but it will if you go any farther.
Installing the ROM
Turn off the phone once it is done and then put it back in fastboot (hold the volume down button, and plug the USB cable into your phone from the computer). Back in command prompt enter fastboot flash system {full path to the .img you downloaded for treble} press enter and let it copy over. Shouldnt take too long.
Once completed enter fastboot reboot and be ready to hold volume up when prompted or you will bootloop forever. This will open a new menu and just select to factory reset the device. Then boot as normal once this is done.
Done!

Thanks for sharing
I was just recently given a non functioning Honor 7x, that just needed a battery. It's still running EMUI 8. I've been reading that there is a free way to unlock the bootloader with something called PotatoNV, so I am going to do some more reading on that and see if I can save myself the money. I was worried about being able to flash something much newer to this phone after taking a look at the state of ROM support here on XDA. I didn't even know that GSI ROM's were a thing. Did everything function properly after you flashed the GSI Treble ROM to your 7x? Do you know if there is a GSI Treble version of Android 11 that will work with the 7x?
Thanks!

MDM Locked Galaxy Tab A

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2020, SN-T307U) that I got from work. It's an old Doordash tablet that Doordash didn't want back, so I'm trying to reset it and it's driving me crazy. I have followed so many tutorials trying to get this thing to work, I keep getting caught on something.
- Simply factory resetting does not work, gives an error that MDM does not allow it.
- I cannot put in the wrong password 15 times to factory reset, even though I get a warning it just lets me continue trying after 15 fails.
- I cannot enter the bootloader, rebooting to bootloader just reboots to the OS.
- I cannot enter safemode, same as above.
- I cannot enable developer options, so no OEM unlock or USB debugging. Tapping build number gives me an error that the MDM does not allow this option.
The device is recognized by Odin, can I just brick this thing and repartition from scratch? Can someone who knows what they're talking about walk me through that? I'm not really sure what I'm doing here, learning as I go over these last 2 days.
Hello,
I have the same exact same issue, have you been able to unlock it?
Thank you!
I can fix it remotely the last hope
Same Issue here,
Any one had any luck with MDM T307U. Please assist.

If you look at all of the previous post, it should tell you that no one has found a way to disable an MDM lock. Which is as it should be. Otherwise the lock would be useless.

That's not true as of today's date. (In the event this post is viewed after this exploit can be successful).
I am not taking credit and perhaps the op has discovered it. Anyway...
I am in Canada and noticed the carriers here stop at BL 8 while the USA has BL 9.
The unit i had was on BL 9 (csc TMB).
This probably works for Canadians on BL 8. I don't recommend flashing to BL 9 as that may affect your service or experience.
ANYWAY! This guide won't explain any prerequisites. They are adb, installing unsigned drivers, and you aren't able to use the device and are the owner
1) if not already, power off device with vol down+power and ensure battery is at least 50%.
2) enter recovery and factory reset. If you're having difficulty entering recovery, plug into your pc and as soon as you hear the audible disconnect, switch to vol up+power. Or jam on all three buttons for dl mode.
If in dl mode you can check firmware version and just flash it with bl, ap, cp and csc (NOT home csc). Use exact current version. Don't worry about userdata if it is USA
3) at welcome, connect wifi and imnediately go back to first screen. Don't use data sim
4) dl samfw app and on misc tab, check driver status and your pc will reboot.
*you must not have secure boot enabled
5) plug phone into pc. In the app, mtp and select youtube. If done right, click the pop up on your phone and navigate to chrome. Should be automatic.
6) search for vnrom frp. Once there download package disabler pro and notification app. They are side by side. Install notification app and set it up so you can swipe quick settings from top of screen.
5) unplug your phone from pc and plug it back in. Should be able to get back to the package app various ways to install it. Before install, turn wifi off. Now run package disabler and when it prompts for device admin, turn wifi on. It'll glitch a bit but should start.
6) locate samsung setup wizard. Don't confuse with the other. It'll have a green icon. Disable it and clear the storage. At bottom left, tap the back arrow and you should be back at final setup.
7) when asked to add samsung account, turn off wifi. Complete setup and don't add any accounts.
8) you should arrive at home screen. Your phone is re-plugged right? Good. Now turn on usb debugging and use the remove knox from the app. Done.
*i think i turned wifi on just before enabling debugging. I forget.
*if you are sloppy... you'll need to start over. You'll see, or already know
*you can do ota (if there still is any) but factory resetting or odin flashing will put you back to managed.

Click to collapse
This method works up to step 7 for me. I can't seem to enable usb debugging before knox kicks in. With or without wifi. I'm experimenting to see if I can get past that step.
How to Remove MDM Control from Android? For anyone suffering from this issue, the following are the steps to bypass Samsung Knox factory reset protection:
First of all, create a password for the device.
Make sure that your device is charged to an 80% or greater charge.
Next, you’ll need to go to Settings and Security Encrypt Device tabs respectively.
Set a PIN/password for your device.
After you have secured your device and it’s gone through. Reboot the device, and when it boots, it will ask you to enter a password in order to access your device to view encrypted data. If you type the wrong password 15-20 times (it depends on your device), it’ll wipe your device of any information and will restart and then appear like you’re registering as a brand new device after a factory reset.
Thats the 2th!!! Try it

[Guide] Pixel 3a (sargo) Return to Stock, Factory Reset, and relock Bootloader

Very quick guide for how to return to stock, factory reset, and relock bootloader. This is if you're going to trade in the device or re-sell it.
I am assuming that you're pretty familiar with this process based on the assumption that you unlocked the bootloader in the first place, but it was 2+ years ago so you don't remember the details. This is for you.
If you don't correctly re-install the factory image in step 12, you are at risk of bricking your phone, stop and ask for advice if anything isn't clear or if any step fails.
This will DELETE all your phone's data, proceed with caution.
Tested on Windows 11 PC and Pixel 3a
First make sure you have the Prerequisites here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ootloader-update-root-pass-safetynet.4443459/
Enable Developer Mode and USB Debugging as described here: https://developer.android.com/studio/debug/dev-options
Remove the sim card from the phone and erase any esim cards, restart the phone and enter your password/passcode, go to the home screen
Download the latest Factory Image (not OTA) for sargo, sargo-sp2a.220505.006-factory-978959e1.zip, to your PC, instructions are in the link in step 1 under Spoiler: Downloads
Unzip the factory image to a known location on your PC
Open a command line tool in the folder extracted above, confirm the flash-all.bat file is in the current directory
Plug the phone into your PC with the appropriate USB cable
Run adb devices on PC, if your device is "unauthorized", then approve the connection on the phone.
Rerun adb devices and confirm your phone is authorized
Run adb reboot bootloader, phone should restart to the bootloader screen
Run fastboot devices and confirm your device is listed
Run .\flash-all.bat, wait until the command says it is done, press any key to go back to command prompt.
Eventually the phone will reboot to Google Setup, may take 10 minutes, don't get worried unless it takes more than an hour or if an error is displayed while restarting
Skip past everything, do not connect to WiFi, do not enter an account, get to home screen
Go to settings and re-enable Developer Mode and USB Debugging
Run adb devices on PC and approve the USB Debugging on the phone
Run adb reboot bootloader
Run fastboot flashing lock
Follow the instructions on your phone to confirm and finally lock the bootloader
Unplug phone and restart it
Confirm Google Setup starts but do not proceed, just power off the phone, it's ready to ship
or just use this official web tool https://flash.android.com/welcome
You still end up needing to have all the USB drivers setup, and will have to run the `adb flashing unlock` using ADB and it is a less reliable process in my experience, particularly if you don't use Chrome.
Does still works if you're coming from an Android 13 ROM or does the "anti rollback" feature not apply to the 3a?
I'm thinking of installing Ubuntu Touch. The requirements is to return to Android 9. Is that still possible? Anyone reverted back to previous Android version?
Haha. Terrible Jan 2023 update. Cellular connection not stable on my P7P while posting this asking for my newly bought Sargon for Ubuntu Touch project
Update: revertable. Even on flash.android.com you can choose previous stable public build including Android 9 ones
