Hey guys. The other day I got a notification I was carrier unlocked on my AT&T Pixel 4. If I go into settings, OEM unlocking is not greyed out like I remember it being. Does this mean I can unlock bootloader and root? Thanks in advance. Haven't rooted anything in over 3 years.

Hey all,
I was just wondering as all the O2 nexus 4's were unlocked, is it possible for them to lock it through an OTA update?
Thanks,
Shaizer
No, the carrier has nothing to do with OTA's for the N4. They are all unlocked and will remain so.
First off, sorry for the confusing thread title.
I'm currently running an AT&T Note 3 which has a locked bootloader and I've wanted to run CyanogenMod for a while now. I've ordered a second hand T-Mobile Galaxy S5 because I've heard the bootloader is unlocked and/or unlockable.
Can anyone here clarify how the sim lock/carrier lock works?
Will this require me to purchase an unlock code or will flashing the bootloader and custom firmware automatically unlock the sim? From my research I've read that I still need to unlock the sim, but I've also read that using a different bootloader can unlock it. Kind of confusing.
Hello,
I just acquired a new 'Huawei Ascend XT' phone which is sim locked to AT&T. I am currently in the process of unlocking the boot loader and rooting the phone.
I was wondering is there any tool available to Carrier / imei unlock this phone after I have rooted it (or may be even befor rooting it)?
Thanks.
I'm fairly certain you just need to change the apn settings manually.. need to do something weird to bring up the option to add/edit, believe it's holding down the tasks button
Without being carrier unlocked, the phone can only be used on AT&T Prepaid, AT&T, or AT&T based MVNOs. These days AT&T won't give you an unlock code unless you use the phone on AT&T Prepaid for 6 months. You can check eBay to see if any unlockers will sell you an unlock code for a few bucks. Only buy from sellers who have a money back guarantee if their unlock code fails.

Bought 2nd-Hand
I would like to ask if there is any way to carrier unlock. I bought this phone for 20$ on offer up. But when I contacted at&t to request unlock they said it has to be used for 6 months. For me that does not work, as I am already with tMobile and bought the XT for a second phone because of the large device support. I actually love the phone, but as is it is just sitting around. If anyone has or has heard of a way to accomplish an unlock please p.m. Me.or answer in forum. Thanks in advance.
Ps. phone is already bootloader unlocked and rooted with magisk 14.0. And latest TwRP.
Hi bought the essential phone from Sprint and paid off the next day. I want to unlock the bootloader to be used on att. I want to know if the phone gets updates or not once it is unlocked. Please advice.

Bootloader and carrier phone unlocks are 2 different things. Unlock bootloader to install custom roms. Unlock phone to use other carriers networks. Even if you unlock your bootloader but your phone is still locked to Sprint then you can't use it on AT&T network. You need Sprint to unlock your phone first but your phone has to be active with them for 50 days to be eligible for unlocking your phone.
Hey all,
Are Pixel or any other phones from Verizon sim unlocked out of the box? i know it used to be. I'm not asking about boot-loader unlock, i'm just asking about sim unlock status. Are they sim unlock (with boot-loader locked) by default? Thanks
