MIUI.eu 12.5.2 keep killing all VPN (& background) apps - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Hello,
This is a major headache for me. I know MIUI sucks at memory management and background process control.
But is there anyway to remedy this?
I already tried:
* disabling MIUI optimization
* disabling all per app battey saver settings.
* Change MIUI to performance mode with hidden setting app.
It didn't change anything, still killing all my VPN apps, BBS and greenify agent. Anything with persistent background process get killed seemingly at random intervals.
Please help if you can.
Thanks

Known issue and i think no remedy available while using any MIUI 12.5 version
Problems on MIUI 12.5.2
Good day! I installed different software versions on Android 11 (12.1.2 - 12.5.2). Everywhere recurring problems that were not in versions on Android 10: 1. Freezes the interface 2. Aggressive closing of applications in the background 3. Very long application launch (for example, Chrome starts...

Redmi K20 and K20 Pro users are complaining with the myriad of bugs on the Android 11 based build while Xiaomi announces end of support.

Now half year later after the buggy "stable" release it's EOS

Up to the last Android 10 Version i had no problem with forced closure of background apps. I think it worked even for Xiaomi.eu/MIUI 12.1.2 (Not latest 12.5 version). So only way would be to downgrade or try out another non miui custom rom. Both would need a clean flash

Detailed Guide which ROM is better.

Simple Difference in Between
Miui 8 vs Custom Roms i.e~ lineageOS,AOSP

5-Major Fault -
VR problem with Auto contrast mode
6-Apps compatibility is minor issue yet it is.

8-New Drivers are loaded in the custom rom. Like Kali net hunter,
Dual Boot Recovery support.
9-Custom roms are for the one who needs perfection to get better towards the Usage of UI in routine.
10-No bloatwares.
11-Theme engines are improving day by day.
12-All new Features are available.
13-Multiwindow Feature
CONS-
1-Development can be stopped anytime.
So no promises on next builds.
2-Bugs these are present in Custom Roms but very minor.
3-Bootloops usually occurs.
4- Too pure roms like lineageOS has least features compared to Resurrection Remix.
5-Though lineageOS uses Substratum in N builds but yes Substratum isnt user friendly and has minor bugs in it.
6-Again the problem with some app compatibilities.
7-Doesnt have features like Copy Otp,Long screenshot, Quickball,Applock in memory, call recorder and many more features that are already provided in Miui 8.
If you are a Xiaomi user then I must advice you to stick with Miui 8.
Looks like you really spent time for this but i must say all of these things is ridiculous except a few one.

Issues with background apps

Hello, I have a Le Eco Le Pro 3 x722 since November and I am having some issues with the launched apps,
I mean.
When I start whatsapp (for example) and i tell the phone to have the app started on the background
it stops
For example : I start Whatsapp (with auto-launch and background ON) at 10 AM. And I look at the phone at 12 AM and i have no notifications, but if i open the app, 3 or 4 seconds later I have like 30 messages and it didn't notify me, do you know something??
PD: My brother has the same problem and the same device.
Probably due to background resource control. https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...s-background-resource-control-switch-t3598624
Also, change your region to U.S. Apparently other regions have issues with notifications in eUI (the unofficial vendor ROMs, that is, which 99% is what you're running). If you want good notification management, you definitely don't want to be on an eUI ROM, official or unofficial. Switch to LineageOS, AICP, literally anything else. Follow the link in my sig to learn how to unlock your bootloader and all that.

Redmi Note 2 Global Stable V9.6.3.0

http://en.miui.com/download-274.html
Author: MIUI Official TeamVersion: V9.6.3.0.LHMMIFD (MIUI9) Size: 960M
Do not update!!!! Can't update apps via play store, camera settings crashes. Can't install from playstore... Awful update. Dex2oat process is killing battery. Stay away from this update
well, I installed, and I had problems with the google play , google drive, gmail etc.. manually I downloaded apk and installed.. now working for me however, better to have clear that working from start.. battery no more than a day ...
After playing for a few months with LOS & its variants, I returned to MIUI official ROM (MIUI Global 9.6.3.0). After I made a clean flash, I did the "magic" two-line-modification in build.prop, and I must say that now it works much better than with LOS&Co before (at least with me!)
- no more camera and video problems
- no more slowness (especially Google apps were very very slow)
- overall speedness of phone is significantly improved
- SOT is much better
- no problem with Safetynet: I have green marks for both ctsProfile and basicIntegrity in Magisk without doing any modifications
The only drawback is that I cannot change the region, there is only one option: Chinese (no problem with languages), but to say the truth I didn't experience any disadvantages beacuse of this so far.
I have one small problem: rich formatting option is completely missing from Gmail (maybe it's due to Chinese region...?), and I would badly need it.
Anyone with the same issue?

There was nothing to fix. Just made a clean install + build.prop edit + Magisk. That's all.
The same problem. But I can't update or delete system programs at all. They "disappear" in Titanium or Root Explorer for a moment and then you refresh the folder and they're there.
Totally broken update. Trying to find 3rd party firmware that would work.
Unfortunately applied themes always get reverted after a short while - is there any solution for that?
Hello,
Which is the last "official" GLOBAL ROM for RN2?
This one is on my phone now: miui_HMNote2Global_V9.6.3.0.LHMMIFD_83711029cc_5.0, which otherwise works perfectly, but has a small drawback: you can only choose Chinese region, there is no other, and it has some minor disadvantages..
After a long search I found: xiaomi.eu_multi_HMNote2_V9.2.3.0.LHMCNEK_v9-5.0
Can this be the last? Or is there another one? (the point is region choice)
Thanx
I am using that chinese version. IMO it is the latest stable one. The most annoying topic is that built in camera often freezes phone and then rapidly drains battery and OpenCamera cannot be used. Besides that reverting themes is another drawback but a minor one.
Google Play Service no edit build.prop
Hi there
This Google play services is latest version 19.8.31 (020408) and it's working flawlessly on my Redmi Note 2 (MIUI 9 v9.6.3.0 LHMMIFD), no need to change anything like editing build.prop, just install and your RN2 can continue using all Google apps.
Download or search on apkmirror this apk =
Google Play services 19.8.31 (020408-284611645)

MI Max Review - Best, Most stable and Highly customizable Custom ROM so far!!

Hi Mi Max'ers.
My name is Addy and I have been using Xiaomi MI Max [Hydrogen] for 2 years now. I do a lot of customization because being simple is boring .
I liked MIUI till MIUI 8 Nougat (Global ROM). After that there was not much improvement in MIUI ROMs and I could not customize much in the new MIUI 9 and 10 ROMs.
I mostly like system-wide black theme and black theme for all the apps.
So, I came to custom ROMs. I flash ROMs like crazy just to find the perfect one that fulfills my level of customization.
I found AEX [7.1.2] (AOSP Extended). It was good for about 5 months. Then I was having lot of issues one over the other.
One of the major problem was... All the widgets were getting disappeared when I turn on my phone after my phone shutdowns when the battery is dead. No matter what I tried, the problem did not solve. I'll have to restore my 10GB of Nandroid backup everytime it happened.
So I started to search for a new ROM. I wanted to go the the latest releases like Android PIE.
I tried almost a dozen of Android PIE ROMs. Unfortunately, all the ROMs that I have tried had one problem in common.
But exactly the camera and flashlight did not work. Many user were reporting this issue and some said the the camera would work after some time after reboot or it might work after few reboots. It was highly uncertain.
Since I love taking pictures, then I thought I have no choice and I have to go to MIUI again to the latest release (even though I experienced MIUI 10 is full of Bull crap.)
But I saw that Latest MIUI 10 global is still running on Android Nougat. So, I decided to go for Nougat based custom ROMs.
Now I ended up with final version of Resurrection Remix [7.1.2].
In my opinion, this ROM is by far the best and most customizable ROM that fulfilled me. So I am sharing my review on that.
For now I have installed around 85 user apps + Google apps micro package + Magisk and Xposed Modules.
ROM Link:
a. RESURRECTION REMIX [5.8.3] [DEPRECATED] - Thanks @sawdoctor.
-ROM thread.
-Post for download link.
b. AOSP Extended (AEX) - Thanks @Davehimself

Battery : ~8 hours of SOT
I think 8 hours SOT for a 2 year old phone is more than expected I guess considering my torture of my MI Max in the past with all the games in the past
I stopped playing games these days since I had to concentrate on my studies. So, I mostly watch youtube videos and listen to music. I hardly use any social media because it if filled with nothing but full of fake stuffs and promotional ads these days.
Camera: Best on so far - MIUI modded camera
I flashed MIUI modded camera so that I can use my favorite Camera and make fruitful memories:victory:.
I did not take good pictures recently. So, I have attached a HDR picture that I have taken few months ago when I was using MIUI camera.
I tried a lot of modded Google camera apks for features like night sight, HDR+, Portrait mode etc. But I got tired of searching/installing/uninstalling. So I think I will enjoy those features when I get a new phone instead of being greedy.
If anyone has working Google camera MOD for MI Max Hydrogen Nougat based ROM, kindly let me know in the discussion.
MIUI Camera: - Thanks @Arnova8G2.

CPU usage: ~ 50% of time in deep sleep according to EX Kernel manager.
I use ondemand governer for both Little and Big cluster.
I also have also set 1190 Mhz for Big cluster for saving some juice.
I did not tewak GPU settings.
I have only Double tap to wake setting turned on.
Memory Usage:
At first only when I installed only the ROM, without Masigk or GAPPS... Astonishingly, the total free RAM was ~1900 MB!
After setting up all my apps customizations, now the free RAM after clearing recents is around ~ 1200 MB!
I know the unused RAM is wasted RAM. But in previous ROMs, I used to have only 500 MB of RAM or so as free RAM. So it was nearly impossible for me to multi-task.
I am really surprised with the RAM management in this ROM!
But, I still have some apps freezed in Titanium backup + I hibernate some user apps in greenify.
Customization and MODs:
I utilized almost all the features the configurations option in RR ROM settings. My favorites are:
- Recents and Notification panel blurs.
- Customized lockscreen using "Lock screen wigdets [L-M]" xposed module.
- disabling quicktiles (GravitiyBox) and power menu in Lockscreen (This is a major securty issue for me in MIUI ROM. They removed the option to disable these from marshmallow! Now, It is much easier for the thief to steal the phone and switch off/ turn to silent mode!)
- I totally disable mods of the ads in my phone. I use adaway + "MinMinGuard" xposed module for systemwide ad blocking and I use Mozilla firefox with uBolck Origin addon to block ads in browser.
-and other bunch of stuffs.
One thing I was not satisfied after switching from AEX is the quality of VIPER4ANDROID soundmod.
I installed the same module. but somehow I could feel the different effect. I will have to adapt to this I guess.
I have shared the screenshots so that you can see it for yourselves .
Thanks for Reading.
Feel free to share your opinions/mods/etc.. So, that we can use our MI Max to the most fullest way possible
Thank you very much for sharing your experience, that was very helpful.
Hi @Aadhik how did you turn on all black settings? Are you using substratum?

Hi there, i got question regarding this rom, after i flash this rr rom from lineageos 16, my internet h+ - lte display but no data or connection. but my phone line is ok. anyway to troubleshoot this problem. right now im only using my wifi only as my data cannot be use. thx

Few quick questions on MIUI 11

Can anyone help answer a few quick questions on MIUI 11 on the Redmi 7A ( or any other Xiaomi device) please?
1. Does MIUI 11 have the cursor magnifier bubble that pops up when editing text or moving the cursor? This is native in Android Pie but some Android 9.0 builds (I'm looking at you Samsung) didn't have it in. Do a lot of texting so this is really useful.
2. Is MIUI 11 still stuffed with ads like the previous versions? Have Xiaomi finally provided a one click option to remove / stop all ads?
3. Can you remove factory apps in MIUI 11, either through Settings or using adb? (I've no use for Facebook, Twitter and a bunch of other bloat in any ROM).
Thanks in advance, looking at getting a Redmi 7A (or Android Pie based Redmi device) as a cheap second phone which will e used for email, chat and text but find editing text is very fiddly on Android without the cursor magnifier thing that iOS has.
I can only answer questions 2 and 3. 2) Miui contains ads that can be disabled in each app from an option called recommendations. After this, the ads are not usually noticed in apps. 3) It is possible to debloat the device without root, there is even a tool that lets you see which apps you can disable: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/miui-xiaomi-global-debloater-the4anoni-t3879739
My opinion: If you unlock the device, flash mokee, you can use it with up to android 10 (It has less lags than miui, and you can restrict usage in the background) and with/without gapps, and you will get a lot of battery. Or reach the end of the day with 60-70% (no games, occasional uses,we are in quarantine, I have not tried it in a day outside.).
So I ended up buying a brand new Redmi 7A running Global firmware Android Pie and can answer the questions:
1. MIUI 11 does not have the cursor magnifier thing like stock Android it uses the same teardrop bubble cursor that Samsung phones use (this might be fixed in MIUI 12).
2. Yes, it's still stuffed with ads and you have to go into individual apps to try and get rid of them. Even this doesn't work fully though, the whole UI is riddled with ads.
3. Not possible to remove the apps and in fact, it's the worst phone I've ever seen that doesn't even let you disable apps either. All the Google crap like Music, Movies, Books, Games, etc. you can't even disable let alone uninstall them like you can on other phones.
I had the phone for approximately 1 day, hated MIUI and promptly sent it back for a full refund. Never again Xiaomi
