Modding apps to disable swipe to exit? - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying to install Subway Surfers on my watch(Ticwatch E2), as it is an older game that should run on the watch decently and has simple enough controls. I downloaded the 1.16 version from uptodown and installed it using adb - one big problem. You can't swipe right because of the close app gesture. Other than that it seems to run decently well. I heard this could be fixed with a flag on the AndroidManifest.xml file and tried it, didn't change anything. This is the flag I tried :
Code:
<resources>
<style name="AppTheme" parent="@android:style/Theme.DeviceDefault">
<item name="android:windowSwipeToDismiss">false</item>
</style>
</resources>
Would anyone be kind enough to help me modify my APK file or send me a modified APK? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I had the same issue as you. I tried installing Subway Surfers by sideloading it through ADB and although it worked surprisingly smooth, the game would exit whenever I'd swipe right.
After a few minutes on Google, I came across Android Wear platform's official documentation about swipe to exit here and then I decompiled the apk using Apktool, headed over to manifest to check what the main theme of the app is by searching "<application" and then after seeing that UnityThemeSelector is the default theme, I headed over to styles.xml and added this property to UnityThemeSelector:
Code:
android:windowSwipeToDismiss
After all that it fortunately worked. Here's the apk in case anyone doesn't wanna bother with all that.

It adapts and works really well, it seems incredible that it is not a game originally adapted to Wear OS. Your mod works correctly on Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS.
With your permission, I will upload it to the app repository.

Ikr? Those were my first thoughts when I first ran it on Galaxy Watch4 too, it's super smooth. Sure, you can upload to the repository, give credit if possible and send link of the repository itself.

[APP] Wear OS Apps Repository. Why are there so few apps available for Wear OS in Play Store?
Why are there so few apps available for Wear OS in Play Store? In the origins of Wear OS, when it was still called Android Wear, between 2014 and 2017, hundreds of apps created for these watches were published in the Play Store, during that time...

How to access G-Gee, Square Enix, etc - Easy 3 Step Method

K, so I reflashed my phone and proceeded to repeat what I did to gain access to the G-Gee Market and Square Enix. It is not really easy to do.
Download this zip with all 3 G-Gee Markets, install each one but the one you want to really use is the GameBox installer.
After they are all installed download the modded build.prop I used (its from my Xperia PLAY, if on another phone just copy the SO-01C to all references of Build, Model, etc)
Modded Build.prop
Save as a text document, backup your old build.prop (system/build.prop) Then copy the modded build.prop to the same place as your original.
http://db.tt/1RQUKz4C
Next you need to download/install Market Enabler and set it to Japan - Docomo, reboot your phone.
Market Enabler:
http://db.tt/OWdfOWX6
After the above steps are done and you have rebooted. Open Market Enabler and set it again to DOCOCMO, then copy this link to your gmail and send it to your self.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ggee.gameboxam
Open the email and select the link and select Play Market to open, it should then be able to let you download the G-Gee ticket for the game from the Android Market, it should hten automatically open the GameBox installed and let you download nd install the King of Fighters.
I have done this same process 3 times now and each time it worked.
Found this and wanted to share with y'all
http://ggee.com/xperiaplay/playnow/
If you loon at the bottom it shows the Devil May Cry and says "coming soon". I will be keeping an eye out for this game...guarantee.

Hmm... I'm noticing a trend here.
Seems G-Gee's bringing out all those games shown off during Sony's Japanese Xperia PLAY launch specials.
EDIT: Looks like that's not all they're doing... snooping a little further in, I saw that they're promoting Disgaea Infinite on the Play Store, and even a special Android King of Fighters game!
Hear that? That's the sound of me getting hard.

In digging through some of the G-Ge apps I found this,
http://gmo-game.com/
Notice the King of Fighters
http://gmo-game.com/app/1313/
(I am going to change my build.prop to SO-01D to see if I can get this KofF apk)
For those interested there are two types of the G-Gee Markets and here they are:
http://db.tt/taYSFmA7
http://db.tt/e2I42xnf
http://db.tt/QLfNKsRT
Between using the market enabler, modding my build.prop to reflecct a r800i instead of r800x and the occasional Japanese VPN account I use (which is free by the way) I have been able to gain access to some of these games from the G-Gee market.
This is the pae for Devil May Cry, its not out yet..

Right now as I type this I am downloading the game Disgaea Infinite. It is really slow download but still .... hope to have the app installed, apk saved and uploaded shortly.
I can download and buy any of the market g-gee apps using market enabler and docomo as the carrier, but the games themselves are performing a device check in case anyone trys to buy these.

So far I havent seen the device check but that doesnt mean anything, just havent seen it, also I did find this, Legion any chance you may be able to snag it? I am not having any luck getting it. Its Disengaea Infinite in English.

I lied, here you go... I can install the apk but it wont let me install the additional files which it said was I think 75mb.
Here is the file in case anyone wants to have a go at this.

easily done, http://www.mediafire.com/?vs2e1vb05g2l97w
I would highly recommend you check this out, this lets you download any android market app directly on your computer as long as its a free app.
http://codekiem.com/2012/02/24/apk-downloader/
OK, I got the Disgaea from the Gamebox G-Gee Market, the one I got from Legion was just basically a link to the game on th GGEE market. I got the game to download and install however the only problem is that I am unable to save the game as an apk. However the 149mb additional files that downloaded, actually I think its the whole game hence the reason no apk, and I backed it up. The files were saved to a new folder on my sdcard by G-Gee called Runtime Apps, Looks like all the files are there and unfortunately it is in Japanese. I am uploading the files to my dropbox account and will be posting a download link shortly.
And here it is...... someone mind taking a look at it? It is compressed as its 129mb zipped, 145 uncompressed
http://db.tt/rqPhsSEg
OK, so you ned to have the G-Gee Market installed, and the above zipped file on your sdcard. You load up the G-Gee market and it should show you the Disgaea game under "my apps". From there you run it. That is why the game has not apk, it is all run from within the GGee market.
Just in case here is 3 different versions of the G-Gee Market, one is web based and doesnt have much. the other tow are are G-Gee & Gamebox Installed. I would recommend installing both of those 2.
Here is the link, all 3 are in a single compressed file
http://db.tt/Vrd17wNy
going to try switching my build.prop to korean and see if I can get TLtheory , and everyone else, King of Fighters by SNK. Cross your fingers.
Ummm TLtheory... in the words of Pam on the FX series Archer... Holy ****snacks.... I got the King of Fighters and believe it or not, the xperia play controls works. Again though it requires you to have the G-Gee GameBox installed as it runs the game through that. I have the download link for the Kof F below and I sure hope it works via just having the games files saved to the Runtime App on the root of the SDcard with GameBox installed. So the android market link takes you to the G-Gee Gamebox which then after installing that tkae you to the K of F on the Gamebox app to download/install. The files are a good size.
Please let me know if it works... sure hope it does....
Also, since it was so large I had to break it into 3 seperate zip files. I know its a pain but it was the only way to do it and still be able to upload
Part 1 of 3:
http://db.tt/5tp3fZpg
Part 2 of 3
http://db.tt/9YSkq0FU
Part 3 of 3
http://db.tt/g6XDhqnw
Just a heads up on the 3 download links above, 2 of the 3 came back as having errors but I was able to download them from the links and they seemed fine. If anyone has issues with the links let me know.

would you be able to get Sonic The HedgeHog and Super Monkey Ball 1 as well?
---------- Post added at 07:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:16 AM ----------
unfortunately, I don't think it works just by copying it to the sd card, I tried a bunch of stuff like for example downloading an app that shows available to me and swapping the sd card data and so forth, no dice. Try making a titanium backup with these games already installed and upload that, that ought to work.

This is the part that sucks, I tried the TB first when I saw the apk saver app wasnt seeing the games. TB does not see the FoF or Disgaea either, as both games do not have an apk and are dependant on the GameBox. OTher then making a zip of the folders for the games and recommending installing the Gameox, thats all I could think of..
So you tried the uncompress and saved the folders to a folder on your sdcard called Runtime Apps, and had the Gamebox apk installed and you were not able to play/see the games? Hmm.....Gamebox is making this a total PITA, and probably for this very reason, to only make it available to countries that can access it.
Here is what I did to gain access to the games. I changed my buildprop to the SO-01D and went to these links: (with market enabler on Japan Dococmo)
K of F
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ggee.gameboxam
easiest way to open this was to email the above link to your gmail and open it on your phone, it then says its availanble. I selected install and installed it. OPening it then tales you to the GameBox or G-Gee market and then it allows you to Download and Installed the files. This worked for me, the files are around 45-500mb download. This same process worked for me on Disgaea,
Disgaea:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...kZWEucnVudGltZS5PWlN0b3JlX0FNX1RpY2tldDc0NSJd
This is all I can think of, as obviously saving the files and trying to transplant them onto another phone does NOT work.... try the above steps and see what you get...as said it worked for me. Attemting to look up the games on the android market after the enabler and build changes will NOT show the games on your phone, you HAVE TO open the above links from within you Gmail, hence emailing the links to yourself. Only then did it work for me.
Let me know how it goes
Could anyone upload APK file of King Of Fighters (this fighters game, not shotem-up) ? Only if is it a free game. I don't have root, so i have a hope that this game will be work like Locoroco... I love KOF serie ...
Oy... you guys are really kicking ass here!
...this is hurting my head though. I
• Modified build.prop
• Changed "ro.product.model" to "SO-01D"
• Got Market Enabler
• Faked Japan DoCoMo
...all seemed gravy til I hit some error screen. I couldn't even install KoF from the above link. I was able to grab the "com.ggee.gameboxam-3.apk" APK with the tool mentioned earlier, but that never got me to KoF.
I'm confused, and I just know I did something wrong... either way, I'm changing my build prop back for now.
There is no apk for the game. You have to run the game through the game box or g-gee. When you download the game it opens throught the ggee and then downloads the files. It saves all the files in a folder called Runtine Apps. I have no idea how to convert these files to apk as again all it is is all these .exe files.
Sent from my SO-01C using xda premium
Sooo... I see . I must wait... Maybe in some time they relese this game in google play ... I don't want root, so i can't change build.prop ...
I am going to make a video here in a couple minutes showing off the King of Fighters game on my Xperia pLAY and post it on Youtube. This game runs smooth and the controls aork awesome.... really really wish that SNK will release this to the android market. I had to buy the game for $5 from the G-Gee market and it is totally worth every penny. I will post the link once I have the video uploaded.
K, this video is almost uploaded but here is the Youtube link. Also I aplogize for the poor camera work, its my first video. I just found the app ScreenCast which records your phone screens rather then me holding a camera to it... so it should be much better picture. from here on out I will be using that to make my vids... I will make another vid soon, getting tired..... and will post it on here.......
Here is the link for the youtie video, its up now
http://youtu.be/OUDRPF401OE
Video is up, I did the best I could for my first video. And I am trying to remember everything I did to get this all to work.. honestly I was up till 230am trying to get King of Fighters to download, then to work, and so forth. I am going to attempt to recreate the process on another android phone and if it works and I can figure out a much easier process I will post as much info to help others as I can.
TLRTheory probably couldn't download it becuase he wasn't on a vpn. Yes, this is a tough one. Looking at the sd card data, it has alot of elements of an android apk, but its not all there...... its incomplete. There are two attack vectors available to us:
1: Find a way to modify the sdcard data/g-gee market
2: Try to inject the game data into an apk file and pray it works without force closes.
I will try both, but number 2 is really unlikely due to me ****ing hating using Eclipse.

[Apps] for I'm Watch Smartwatch

I started on the wrong foot, but finally found that it likes Android 1.6 Apps!
- Angry Birds!!!!!! (with music and usable, albeit, it just takes a little time to Start just Once Initially, the everything is quite normalish after initial start..... But the initial Splash screen looks so cool on the smartwatch it is worth the wait).
- Dolphin Browser
- Opera Mini Browser
Hints:
- To download anything in Opera Mini, select the DCIM folder, it seems it does not like to download on initial root. Warning, it is not fast downloading.
- When typing remember that it is a good idea that when typing in the small keyboard, that if you are fast, and keep pressing a key and notice it was not the one you intended, before releasing the key, if you do it fast enough, you can move your finger towards the correct key before releasing your finger. This is much faster than having to delete a wrong entered letter. If you keep pressing and fail to move fast, it would suggest alternative based on the wrong letter and you can no longer move to next, but if you click elsewhere, it won't type the wrong letter.
- Dolphin Browser is great because you can define shortcuts for common menus (remember you don't have a menu key), with its gestures. I made a gesture for settings and other to go to downloads and for full screen!
More Apps come!!
Please Share your Apps!!!
More Apps!
- Aptoid works quite fine to install new apps.
- Backgammon Free
- Bazooka Rabbit works! (albeit, not all the screen appears, but it is playable).
- ES File Explorer
- .... more to try ...
Are you running the latest 2.1 os?
I'd be interested to see these apps in action on the watch. Anyone want to make a youtube video?

I just recently got my imwatch and I'm already using the amazing side loader machine to load random apps onto it. I'll try to get a video going of it if I can but otherwise not many apps seem to work on it. If you can give me some ideas and a link to the apk to make things easier I will have more examples to show.
Great little thread. Lets hope more people post the names of more suitable useful apps.

I'd be interested to see how some apps work compared to my Motoactv. So some examples would be emulators such as gbcoid, snesoid and n64oid. Maybe some android games such as Hill Climb, and Hardest Game Ever. Apps, I dunno, maybe root explorer (or just explorer), a browser (I use boat browser mini), and mxplayer playing a video would be cool to see. Everything but the emulators I just got off the Google Play store. If you can't access the store on the I'm Watch yet I remember being able to take apps off my phone. Just download the app on your phone, then use a file manager to browse to /data/app/, then send it to your computer (I use bluetooth). I can send you the emulator apk's, just PM me your e-mail.
Use bluestack make it easier to grab the apk and download multiple apps at the same time,
Games or apps compatible with android 1.6 will have a much better chance of working...
Good info
apps
Got some more apps that seem to work on the i'm watch after the 2.1.2 adb update
go jkeyboard works
mobicalc
advanced task killer
voice search kinda works, cant find netwrok connection. would like someone to get that working.
dropbox works
graffiti pro keyboard works
dolphin browser works
gesture search
but there arent many people who are rooting and or doing things for the watch,. So if you can give me any ideas as to what to do to it or how I'd appreciate it,. Such as unlocking the bootloader
What I'm finding is that anything where you can draw or speak is more useful for this watch.\
rooting with super on click was the best way of doing it honestly .
Ok so I found a useful group of apks that make customization something a greater thing.
email me @ [email protected]

Thanks!
There is a new ADB version out. The last was 2.1.2 but now there is a 2.2.0 which I am going to update to now and attempt to see if it changes much.
Heres hoping.

Well theres two ways to do it.
1. you can do the whole rooting process by getting the ADB software from imwatch and using super one click to root it then install it through a sideload manager.
2. you can download all the apks in there and go to the im market and get Sideload Manager app from there. Then you'd put the apks in the DCIM folder and go through the Sideload Manager and install it that way.
Note: You should disconnect from the pc when trying to install through sideload manager app for option two.

It's still pretty buggy. But from the things I've seen android phones have apps that are capable of handling and changing the volume and etc on there.
Don't quote me but its just what I've heard. I have an iPhone 5 so I can't really share from experience.

Custom Device - Google Play Compatibility

Hello. I'm working on a custom device that is not on the market yet, and I am having issues getting it to work with Google Play. I have root access, so I was able to sideload GooglePlay.apk and GoogleServicesFramework.apk. However, I am forced to use Market Helper in order to download apps. I would like to bake in compatibility to the ROM itself, but am having issues.
I've tried modifying the build.prop to have dummy values for ro.product.{model,device,manufacturer}, as well as ro.hardware and ro.com.google.clientidbase. I feel like I'm close, but the device still fails to be accepted by Play without marker helper.
Any hints or advice are tremendously appreciated!
Sorry, can't help you with the problem.
But I am really interested in your custom device. Could you please tell us more about it?
Cool.
For those who encounter a similar problem, I will post the answer. Credit to (xkcd: Wisdom of the Ancients) for the idea.
edit: the policy of not posting outside links is really annoying. All links have the base: http: slash slash developer dot android dotcom , just add the relevant url and glue it together.
Anyway, here goes. Turns out the build.prop was not the limiting factor.
Explanation of the overall process:
- Developers create an app, and list certain features it depends on in the manifest.xml file located in the root of the apk. ( /guide/topics/manifest/uses-feature-element.html)
- When the Play Store is opened, a call is made to getSystemAvailableFeatures()
- This call is handled by an internal app called PackageManager - (/reference/android/content/pm/PackageManager.html)
-This app looks in /system/etc/permissions and parses the xml files to determine what hardware and software features the phone has. it then sends this list back to the play store. - see( /guide/practices/compatibility.html) and ( /google/play/filters.html )
- The play store then filters the apps, as per the links above.
How to modify this:
- What I’ve done is taken the files from /system/etc/permissions on a galaxy S2 Skyrocket (my personal device), and copied in all of them, without overwriting the already existing files. Now, google play works and allows the download of the same subset of apps as on the Skyrocket.
For those wondering how to include these files at compile time, here is the answer:

Tasker

I had high hopes (very high!) that I could get tasker to run on the ouya, unfortunately I have not had any luck as of yet.
Maps was installed, as was a few files that needed to be manually installed in /system, but unfortunately neither seemed to work.
Has anybody had any luck? Please let me know if you did, I had big plans for this little system and tasker was a key piece to it.
Thanks.
Well, apparently I'm batting 1000 tonight on threads.
A reboot allowed instillation of the tasker trial version.
It looks like everything works, or as much as you would expect for the ouya. I did two test tasks. First was just a screen popup, which obviously worked great. The other was a reboot to test root access, and this also worked perfect (say hello to automated weekly reboots!).
Now, to see if autoremote can be made to work, and then on to autovoice or utter! and the inherently difficult prospect that will be.

Please periodically update this thread with your progress? Curious to follow suit, though don't have the time to help in the investigations
A few issues with tasker itself, such as I can't download from Google play, it won't recognize my original order #, i can't find 'my' .apk, basically can't get my purchased version working and am stuck on the 7 day trial version. As for functionality it works great.
Current main task is to start XBMC if Autoremote received a certain message, as well as sending a message when xbmc is open and a different one when it closes.
On my tablet when I fire up the Yatse app, Tasker checks to see if XBMC is running, if not it displays a popup asking if I want to start xbmc. If I say yes it sends a command through autoremote which is what triggers tasker to start xbmc.
OK, a few things I have found.
Originally I could not download Tasker through the Play Store as the Ouya showed up as 'incompatible', however after a Play Store crash that removed it from my system, and subsequent reinstall, I can now download it from Google Play. I don't know why this was, but when I first did the play store mod I didn't have busybox installed, I did for the reinstall. I don't need the play version however as I was able to get the 'Trial' version validated, which is good as the direct download has added functionality (that I will never use). To validate the trial version you need to find the 15 digit order number (not the 16 digit Google provides in the email). This is best accomplished by using the 'Contact Crafty Apps' link in the email, and then finding Tasker, the 15 digit order number should then be visible. This only works if you bought Tasker before March 2013 though, otherwise you will need the Play store version (thanks Google :/)
To get Tasker to run you need to be Rooted and move two Google files to the proper location on the Ouya. Tasker will not run without the Google maps framework and oddly enough installing Google maps doesn't install the full framework. You can get these files by flashing the gapps package with CWM, or just install the two files themselves. To get the files unzip the gapps package, I think in the 'framework' folder. You need to move com.Google.android.maps.XML to /system/etc/permissions, and move com.Google.android.maps.jar to /system/framework. This WILL require you to remount /system as writeable. ES File Explorer worked for me (download an old version, 3.0.4 maybe, as the newest Play store version crashes), it was the only free root access file manager to work for me. Remount /system back to the way it was. BTW, I did all of this without adb, it was all done on the system itself with some help from dropbox (unzipped on my nexus, it was easier).
Tasker itself works great and I currently have it sending messages through autoremote to update variables on my other devices, this triggers a popup that asks if I want to start XBMC when I start my XBMC remote app (only if XBMC isn't running). If I select yes then it sends an Autoremote message that triggers a Tasker profile that starts XBMC. I also have Utter! setup to trigger the 'Start XBMC' Auto remote message on my Nexus
My next two tasks will be for an automatic nightly reboot, and a task that sends the Ouya into sleep mode when I start my alarm clock app on my nexus. I'm still trying to think of good ideas to implement. I hope to get a microphone working to use voice commands directly on the Ouya, and my dream is for an IR blaster to work so the Ouya could turn on my TV with voice commands (old TV)

Scenes Working
Hey Snoman002,
I have my Ouya rooted and found a Tasker that can be used to mount and unmount NFS mounts. I have the two google maps files installed and have version 4.2 of Tasker installed. When i try to open the scene or even create a new one Tasker closes and goes back to the Make Menu. Have you seen a similar thing with the version you have been using ?
Thanks

Sadly, other than getting it running initially I have done nothing more with Tasked on my ouya.
Your trying to make a scene in tasked? Scenes are really only for overlays and custom menus (drastic oversimplification I know). I fail to see the need for the complication of a scene just for mounting and unmounting. Perhaps you could change the tasker task to a simple popup menu (which now that I think about it may be a scene...). Popups worked for me, but that's all I can say about it.
Sorry, I'm not here much anymore as my ouya just runs xbmc now. I will try and check in more often.

[Q] Launching Netflix From Within Kodi

To the point: Anyone have any smart ideas to make the Netflix app visible to Kodi?
I bought my Nexus Player as a Kodi player to test the ability to launch android apps and hopefully get away from using PlayOn for Netflix and Hulu.
Unlike other android boxes, such as the Fire TV, I've noticed several android apps are hidden from other third party apps. Notably Netflix does not appear in either Chainfire's Sideload Launcher nor within Kodi in the Addons > Programs > Android Apps. So the app cannot be favorited. I tried using a StartAndroidActivity command with the correct apk name for Netflix "com.netflix.ninja" but that does nothing.
I'm rooted.
Much appreciation.
Does voice search --> "Go to Netflix" work for you?

I had to test it just now. It does however. That is a possible solution. Especially since I go straight to Kodi on startup with "XBMC Launcher".
I'd be interested however still if there was a solution, even convoluted or with some work, to make the app directly accessible from Kodi via key press.
I use the Eminence skin and do exactly like this guy, simply by adding the app as a favorite, then adding it to the start bar, works like a charm for native Android Netflix, WatchEspn, DishAnywhere, HBO GO all perfectly seamless and it drops me right back to the Kodi main screen when I exit.
http://youtu.be/PrRNqrZmFfE scroll forward to 5:58 to see launching apps.
I know there is a way to do this with other skins but Eminence makes it so simple, plus it looks great.

And this works with the NP as well?

Hey I appreciate it but that isn't really the problem. I'm familiar with the mechanics of adding android apps to various skin menus within Kodi.
That problem is that, unlike with Kodi on other android devices that I've used, on my Nexus player several apps (including Netflix and Pluto.tv) simply do not appear within other apps (including Kodi and Chainfire's Sideload Launcher). Netflix and Pluto.tv appear on the default launcher's home page and work perfectly. They can be launched via voice command and work perfectly. However within third party apps they do not appear at all.
So I've favorited several apps and added them to the home screen menu easily (Google Music and Hulu).
I would like to do the same with Netflix. However, the fact that it is hidden from within other apps prevents that. Does anyone know the mechanism behind which it some apps are hidden and what I might do to make Netflix visible from within other apps on the Nexus Player?
My sneaking suspicion is that the netflix app manifest only contains a leanback launcher activity and intent while other apps contain both leanback and normal intent (or only normal and are invisible to the leanback launcher). I plan to test this theory with a simple hello world application.

Any solutions for this?
Also, Bueller? Bueller? Is this forum really debating things like the merits of an Ouya versus a Nexus Player versus whatever at length as compared to an actual technical problem like this?

Yep.
1] Download apktools (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639400)
2] Extract the downloaded file anywhere in your pc
3] Copy the netflix apk to the "2-in" folder where you extracted APKTools
Note: I used EsFileExplorer to copy /data/app/com.netflix.ninja/base.apk to my PC
4]Double click on "Advanced ApkTool.exe" to start the tool
5] Select "2 - Decompile Files"
Note: the decompiled files will be be located in the "3-Out" folder
In the "3-Out" folder open AndroidManifest.xml using a text editor and below the line:
Code:
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LEANBACK_LAUNCHER"/>
add the following code:
Code:
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER"/>
6] Save AndroidManifest.xml and select "3 - Recompile" and recompile, sign and zipalign the files.
The recompiled apk will be inside "4-Done" folder
7] Uninstall netflix and re-install from the recompiled apk.
You can now run Netflix from XBMC and the sideload launcher.

You're awesome. I wish I could buy you a beer.
Totally worked on Netflix and Pluto.tv.
Would the long-term solution be to update Kodi to look for leanback launcher intents when assigning favorites?

I submitted a simple fix to the Kodi dev forums.
AFAIK it was committed and should be in the nightly.
I wonder, how can I achieve this without modifying the apk? It would be cumbersome to update the package at each update.
I'm trying to launch netflix with Automate, so I can configure a package, activity and intent. This configuration currently works on my nexus tablet, but on the nexus player I get an error stating there's no app that can handle that. Image here imgur.com/BBgBmm7
Edit: nevermind, found the problem. Package for Android TV is com.netflix.ninja

Did they do anything with your submission? I still can't get NextFlix to launch from within Kodi and it's annoying as heck. The new Plex launcher thing works great, I'm just missing the ability to launch NetFlix!
