Installing LineageOS for microg on SHIELD TV PRO 2019 - Nvidia Shield TV & Shield TV Pro (2019) Questions

I want to install this: https://download.lineage.microg.org/mdarcy/ , but TWRP is telling me I need bootloader version 32.00.2019.50-t210-79558a05. Where can I get that version?
If it is of some kind of importance, I currently have bootloader version 32.00.2019.50-t210-69ebfcbe installed.

I figured it out, I had to download "NVIDIA SHIELD ANDROID TV 2019 Pro Recovery OS Image" version "8.2.3" from https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworksdownload and extract it. Then you can do fastboot flash staging blob and you will have bootloader version 32.00.2019.50-t210-79558a05.
If you can't download stuff from there, turn off your Adblock, I had the same problem.

I tried this version before, It not work properly for me. I hope to release Android 11 with microG.

Update Unlocked, rooted, 2017 16GB on 7.2.3 Developer image to 8.X?

I been happily running my 2017 Shield TV 16GB on 7.2.3 for years however just recently Amazon Prime has stopped working presenting the extremely helpful error of "Something went wrong". I've tried all the usual app related things and nothing has worked so I'm thinking I'm finally going to be forced to update my shield to 8.X. Fortunately it looks like 8.X is now fully rootable.
My bootloader is unlocked and I have root with TWRP recovery. What is the best way for me to update to 8.X and what firmware should I use? I'm currently on a developer image so I was thinking I could just flash the 8.0.1 Developer image and all would be well? Or should I flash a stock image (if so which one?) and let it OTA update to 8.0.2 (I think that is that latest?) then root that with Magisk? I'm sure I can figure it out by trial and error however this Shield is on the main TV and "extended downtime" is frowned upon....
Any help / guidance would be extremely appreciated!
Anyone?
Really just need some guidance if I should use the developer image or go back to stock and root with Magisk.

yeah apply update via ota, than flash latest magisk.

is there any root method for Shield TV 2017 firmware 8.2.0

As title, do we have any way to root it with magisk yet?
I'm wondering myself. I tried to root with "magisk_shieldtvpie_r2.zip and although it seemed to have installed, after restarting I still didn't have root
I know you said you wanted magisk but have you tried the Nvidia Sheild developer only OS images?
Those come with included root.
https://developer.nvidia.com/shield-developer-os-images
My problem is I don't know if I can update my developer only OS image 8.1 to 8.2 without losing all my apps. I left the bootloader unlocked. Wondering why I couldn't simply flash developer os 8.2 over 8.1 if bootloader is unlocked?

i just fastboot boot twrp then flashed latest magisk on my 2019 pro 8.2.0
Maybe I'm doing it wrong, haven't flashed anything in a while and the place I use to get step by step guides from (nvidiashieldzone) shut down. Mind telling me the steps that you used to root?

I successfully root on normal firmware 8.2.0 with the lastest magisk. I dont know about the developer firmware.
1. I disable all magisk modules and restart
2. Boot to fastboot mode
3. Download and extract the firmware .
4. Run flash all.bat to flash the 8.2.0 firmware
5. Reboot after complete(let the shield completely boot up)
6. Use magisk manager which previously installed to patch the boot.img
7. Reboot shield to fastboot mode and flash the patched boot.img
8. Rebbot
9. Now i enable modules.
question to you guys who have rooted.
Did you get AFwall+ to work?
I have both 2017 Pro model shield and 2019 Pro model. I would like to root so I can uninstall all the crap, and then install AFwall+ firewall and just enable outgoing twitch, spotify, youtube, and some small services I use..

I just got Shield the other day and it came with 8.2. Would flashing with rooted firmware wipe it clean? Same for just rooting it?

Which TWRP version to install?

I have moto x play xt1562 and on this page i see that there are different unofficial TWRP versions. Which version i have to install? ALso, if i have other custom recovery already installed, like linage custom recovery, do i have to take and precautions?
hi peter,
it depends on which image you want to install. since may 2020 there is a bug in twrp which no longer starts the phone with the ota update.
if you want to backup, delete or install your partitions you can install the current version 3.4.0. when you have everything set up you either have to import the updates manually or use its recovery as with lineage. twrp should also work in version 3.3.0 (or any other version before may 2020).
I am currently using the lineage with lineage recovery and it works. should you need more settings for the recovery you can simply boot twrp without installing! thus it is possible to set everything in twrp and still have the lineage recovery because of ota on the device.
if you want the recovery boot (no install) you have to execute this command:
Code:
fastboot boot twrpname.img
cheers

Stuck With Shield TV Got Lineage But No Gapps Work?

Hi I have firstly upgraded the official firmware on a Shield Android TV 2015 (Foster) to version 11 Android TV OS then i decided I hate it so I flashed twrp worrked fine got Lineage 17.1 Android 10 on it now but I add Gapps from open Gapps versions ARM x64 nano or pico it doesn't matter which I add if you add any Gapps then it won't boot into the Lineage OS it just sits in a seemingly semi-brick state only ever providing the boot animation circles only it never passes although the system is working to pickup adb otherwise it would be a full brick.
Can someone help literally point out what I need to do to get it working with play store please.
My assumption is it requires a custom Gapps not regular Gapps as is the case with some os's sometimes but i cannot find links to try for anything other than stock Gapps.
Have you installed GApps before initial boot ?

Magisk v25 on Stock B20 Oreo A2017U

Hi,
is anyone running latest B20 Oreo rom on an A2017U phone with Magisk v25?
When I patch boot image and flash it via EDL the phone doesn't boot it, I have to restore original boot.img to be able to boot android again.
Also, fastboot is not available in the stock EDL images, any idea how to get fastboot back?
Thanks
Hi,
For first, I flashed some ROMs earlier in my life but it was like 5 years ago. I'm not expert in that field. That being said... I'm running B02 Oreo ROM on A2017G but i had the same problem. I managed somehow to find somewhere (can't remember which site) that "Magisk 16.4 should work because 16.0 version had some problems". So I tried 16.4 and it worked for me. Unfortunately data partition, although it shouldn't after root, stays encrypted (in TWRP).
Also, if You boot to system and open Magisk manager it will show You that update is available. After updating to the latest app version it will say that your version of Magisk is not supported now and You should update it (meaning, flashing latest zip). I didn't try it but assuming that earlier it didn't want to boot with the latest version on "Magisk-v25.1.zip" it won't at this time too.
It's so hard to find any information about this phone this day's... I would love if someone knew how to disable this encryption. I tried I think every solution and nothings seems to work :/
I hope I'm not late and my post will help You
