Yotaphone 2 fimware help - YotaPhone

People what to do? I reseted a yota to the factory settings, loaded it for a very long time - it never loaded. It just turned off and didn’t work anymore. Can you tell me how to flash such a brick?

Hello
You can check if Yotaphone gives any signs of life when connecting it to power supply
or when connecting it to the various computers using usb cable (computers should also give some signs after connecting)
You can try pressing below button combinations and keep them pressed for at least 10 seconds
- just Power button for at least 10 seconds
- Power button and volume Up button for at least 10 seconds
- Power button and volume Down button for at least 10 seconds
- All buttons for at least 10 seconds
You can install all adb and fastboot and google usb drivers on chosen computer
You can then connect Your Yotaphone to this computer and type below commands to check if there is any result
adb devices
fastboot devices
You can also disassembly whole device and check voltage output of battery and if there are voltages outputs, inputs on pins of other components with multimeter
You can replace battery or other components
or you can use something more advanced like Jtag

[Q] POWER RESET or UNKNOWN UPLOAD MODE

Anyone having boot problems?
Waiting the case, i have put my tab in his box moving from a place to another, when i took it i saw a green andoid image with the message "POWER RESET or UNKNOWN UPLOAD MODE".
Now it is blocked in this message state. Can't turn off, reboot ...use it...
Anyone know the way to reboot (key combination)? if galaxy tab has a recovery system? or something in order to resolve this problem?
Just to know, no root attempts, only some application normal installed from the market...
hi, i think if you press the power button and leave it pressed, it will reboot.
after the battery charge finished and the recharged all work fine...
i think the "block state" has been caused from the home+volume keys that probably were were pressed in the box..
it would be usefull to know these key-press effects
They are standard android combos. Google is your friend.
I stumbled across this screen while my Samsung SGH-I897 (Captivate) was powered down, hooked up to my PC using the USB cable and the battery was half way charged. I held down both the power and volume up buttons for a few seconds and got to this screen before the unit attempted to boot. It remained there until I held down the same key sequence for about 5-7 seconds. It's now back to a powered off state, still hooked up to my PC via the USB cable, and the display has the standard large battery icon showing it at about 50% charged. Leaving the Captivate idle will continue to charge my phone via USB (abeit slower than having it attached to the power adapter) and the screen shuts itself off. It practically looks like it's fully off or fully dead like this, but it's not.

Get Download Mode with only two buttons

There is another way to access the download by pressing only two buttons. The method is as follows: With the phone off the USB cable is connected only to the mobile. Then tightened simultaneously volume - (minus) and the home key with one hand (which each managed as best they can) and the other is connected to the PC and the phone goes into download mode.
This way has been possible solved a semi-brick.
As my english is not very good here you have a link in spanish wher you can read the problem and the solution.

Cheers.
It isn't really a 3 button download mode anyway, the power is just used to get it powered to notice the volume- and menu are held. By plugging into the pc, you are triggering the power up event instead of using the power key (only if it is a true usb port..my laptop dock has a usb "charge" port that won't trigger the phone power on, it triggers the on screen battery like the ac adapter and only adb works to the phone on that port, not usb mounting or odin).
I actually go to recovery or download by holding menu and vol, and only briefly pressing the power, makes it easier to focus on making sure you hold the vol and menu keys without accidentally releasing too soon (about 5 secs is enough to hold them down as it powers up).
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Ok, but in a phone semi-brick without possibilty to access to download mode with the combo of the three buttoms this worked. It's only a new way, only that. Was discovered by accident and i share with you if it can be useful.
Interesting if this can work where vol- + menu and then power doesn't! Good tip then if this is the case.

Has anyone able to do this successfully?
I think the guy who was able to get this done was using a USB jig with pin 4 & 5 shorted with 300+ transistors.
MY GOD THIS WORKS.
I am giving this thread 5 stars & recommending a sticky.
PS : I held Vol Dn + Menu leaving the USB cable plugged into the computer, Then inserted the other end into my phone.
Tested and it works !!!
Hold Volume down + Home button than plug usb in and your in download mode!!
Great
i tried that before it doesn't work for like 60%+ percent of people
because it's heavily dependent on the kind of USB port in use.
most computer don't have the correct USB port to work
and coincidentally, this will only work on people that already have working 3 buttons only
if their phones came shipped without the 3 buttons combo, it doesn't work.
However this is the standard method for all Galaxy S family that is not part of the I9000 line
so that means Nexus S, USA Vibrant, Verizon, and AT&T captivate... all the ones missing the hard button basically.
so the absolute most effective way is the Homemade USB JIG method
Works!
Great!

[Q] Nexus 7 2012 does not charge, does not boot to bootloader - please help

Hi guys,
I have a Nexus 7 2012 which has become almost completely unresponsive.
Possible cause:
Last thing I remember is that I had it in my pocket and when I looked at it later - it was in bootloader mode. I pressed the power button and since then I have not been able to wake it up.
The device does not charge because I cannot feel the battery to be warm after a whole night of charging. I cannot turn it on no matter how long I keep the power button presses. I have tries two minutes on the clock. I cannot enter into bootloader by pressing power and volume down, even though I keep pressing them for two minutes also on the clock.
So I removed the back cover and pulled out the battery connector. Reconnected but there has been no change in condition.
The device shows the following signs of life.
When the battery plug is pulled out I connect it to my Windows 8 PC via the USB cable and I push on the Power button for about 10 seconds, I get in the Windows Device Manager in Other Devices a new(unrecognized) device named APX. When I pull out the USB cable the I hear the windows usb disconnect sound and the device disappears.
When I connect the battery, I connect the USB to my PC. I don't push any buttons and after 15 or so seconds I get a message USB device not recognized in the USB controllers section of the Windows Device Manager. When I press and hold the Power button (or Power and volume down buttons), after 10 sec The unrecognized device is moved to the Other Devices section and again is called APX.
I cannot turn it on. I cannon boot into bootloader. I have tried almost any approached listed here an on Google (about 10 different step by step guides) and I remain in this position.
Please help me bring it back to life. Hope it's possible. What should I try. I am fairly technical and can understand most instructions.
Had same problem, the only solution found charging via dock station. My 5 years old child broke usb port trying insert cable.

How do you put SATV into fastboot/recovery using the power button?

Anyone have a link to a video showing how to use the power button to put this thing into fastboot/recovery?
I have a unresponsive unit that I want to flash. Seems like I can't get it into recovery but I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly.
Here are my steps:
- Unplug everything from shield and unplug power from wall
- Plug in USB OTG cable from computer to shield tv (no lights from shield at this point)
- Plug in power cable to shield tv (power still unplugged from wall, no change to shield)
- Hold power button on shield tv for 3 seconds (nothing happens on shield, no lights or indication)
- Let go of power button and plug in power adapter to wall (light on shield turns on at this point)
- Nothing happens, no HDMI output and no indication from PC that a device is connected.
Any help?
FYI from nVidia website:
Code:
HW method:
- Disconnect power cable
- Insert USB OTG cable and make sure to connect other end to a host PC
- Connect power cable to SHIELD
- Quickly start pressing power button for ~3 seconds
- Do not hold the button and connect power supply afterwards
- HDMI TV should be always connected to SHIELD
I've booted mine over 100 times and only got in to work once, and can't reproduce the results. I have posted a similar thread, and couldn't find anything, but I'm terrified of something causing an unbootable device again because of this reason. If I find anything else to help out, I'll let you know, but my best advice is just keep trying, a lot. Don't quote me here, bit I think when I got it to boot sucessfully, I wasn't holding the button, I was tapping it for 3 seconds. Fairly quickly, but not super fast tapping. Some users report holding it works, but that didn't seem to for me.
Its a ***** to do with the hardware buttons but I have done it when I had a bootloop. If you can get it to boot normally its far easier to do it via adb "adb reboot bootloader". And if your rooted you can just use a sideloaded reboot manager app.
Yes doing it with a rebooting app or by connecting to a computer is the way to go.

It's not responding, so they basically need to recover a soft brick, which is why I'm going to assume that they posted here. Someone needs to figure out a better trick, or they need a better method for any successor to this. Especially since it supports fastboot oem unlock.

i hope nvidia put a timer trick or something to boot it in recovery mode ,maybie hold the button some secs.
maybie you will find some info in the shield documentation?
edit:found something i guess :
Alternative method:
- Perform software shutdown on SHIELD by holding Power button for 10 seconds
- Connect USB OTG cable to SHIELD
- Start pressing power button for 3 seconds
- HDMI TV should be always connected to SHIELD
then you can use nvidia full recovery images to flash the shield to factory firmware.

Been through it all. Soft bricked my shield, and spent an hour trying that. Only got it to work once and stopped playing with it.

I got it to work with the hardware (plugging in the power cable) method as mine was in a bootloop. I found it difficult because it hard to know exactly where the power button was because its not a raised button. Once I figured out the specific location of the power button I could do it reasonably consistently, like 1 in every 3 attempts. Of course your device may just be faulty unfortunately.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the power button is the whole thing. If I touch anywhere on the button at all, it'll put my shield to sleep, or wake it. That being said, I could have a faulty device as you have stated. I'd really like someone to put a video on youtube of a sucessfull run just to try to match it as close as possible, because 1/. runs is much better than my 1/100 or so runs.
No,it is just the nvidia logo,it is written in the manual and on the plastic cover when you un box it.
A user from another german forum got the right trick for timing, so it should work nearly every time to enter the bootloader :
HW method:
- Disconnect power cable
Click to collapse
it's needed to make sure that the device is switched off
- Insert USB OTG cable and make sure to connect other end to a host PC
Click to collapse
If you want only to test how to enter the bootloader, it's not mandantory atm.
- Connect power cable to SHIELD
- Now WAIT for ~2 seconds
Click to collapse
Just count: 21...22.. if you don't know how long are ~2 seconds
Now press the power-button for ~6 seconds
Click to collapse
The power-button is the sensor area with the NVIDIA Logo on the shield TV
- HDMI TV should be always connected to SHIELD
Click to collapse
yes, otherwise you can't see anything.

Is there a visual cue for holding for 6 seconds? I noticed the NVIDIA splash screen appears right around 2.5-3 seconds, is that too late or right when I should begin holding power?
What worked for me was letting the unit sit unplugged WITHOUT the OTG cable for about 10 or 15 minutes. I then prepared myself to plug the ac adapter back in and almost immediately pressing the 'on' button thereafter. Got to the bootloader and was able to recover from there.
According to the Nvidia Shield information page, you plug the computer into the Shield's micro usb. Unplug the Shield's power. Wait like 10 seconds or so. Plug it back in. As soon as you see the light come on, wait for about 2 secs. Then hold down the power button till the bootloader comes up. It should come up within 6 secs, maybe sooner. That's it. Basically like what scorpio16v quoted. What Nvidia doesn't tell you, is that it doesn't have to be plugged into your computer. For example, I was able to get my Shield TV to bootloader using this built in hardware method by plugging it into my OG Shield via otg adapter on the micro usb cable.
Saw this on the Shield User Guide:
Reset Using NVIDIA Button on SHIELD
To access the fastboot menu:
1.
Turn off your SHIELD.
2.
Unplug the power cable from your SHIELD..
3.
Connect your SHIELD to your PC/Mac/Linux machine's micro USB port.
4.
Plug the power cable back into your SHIELD.
5.
Wait 2 seconds, and then hold the NVIDIA button for 5-6 seconds until you see the fastboot menu on the display.

I don't know about fastboot but to reboot into Recovery, simply attach a USB keyboard and press ALT +PRINT SCREEN + i (same as the Ouya)

good to know!
it seems it works on fire tv too!

1 day old & DEAD. Help me revive!

Got my brand new LG V20 yesterday. It died today! Completely unresponsive, I tried all I could find, can anyone help, I’m willing to try it before sending in for warranty!
Device is LG V20 / H990DS made in Korea. It also says SEA on box so I assume that’s the SEA firmware.
I was hoping I could bring it back to life by flashing using this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/restore-v20-to-100-stock-bricked-devices-t3524903
BUT I get stuck right at the beginning – I can’t get into download mode! I can’t even turn the phone on, can’t get to recovery, nothing....
But, I did manage to get into fastboot once, maybe if I can get there again I can go to download mode from there? And once turned for a brief time on in detailed attempts later...
---------------
How it happened:
I updated the phone to newest software. It updated around 3 times? Not sure of the versions wasn’t paying attention. All was OK. Then I left it overnight to charge. Woke up to 100%. All OK. Then I was connecting my Bluetooth smart band, and was having trouble. So I had to off/on Bluetooth a few times... Finally, my band connected. And then after a couple minutes, phone shuts down. I tried turning it on but only vibrated, nothing happened. I pulled the battery for 15 secs, tried again, I think it boot looped on LG logo. Then I started researching xda and internet and tried a lot of things, can’t remember all but long story short nothing worked really.
I do remember, putting it on charger while off at least 1 time, it started charging (battery at around 85-95% animation charging... Then not sure if it turned itself on or I tried and died.
At one point, when I tried to power it on it said something like “kernel crash” or something with a bunch of numbers, but I think it turned itself off (or I did after a few minutes not sure), don’t remember details.
Then I remember trying powering it on, also trying power + vol+ and power + vol- a few times pulling battery in-between nothing happened.
Then I tried connecting it to PC and got windows “chime” a.k.a. USB connected something a few times. But screen on phone was dead, and it displayed as “Lemobile Android Device” something like that, was not visible in My Computer (only under devices and printers).
And I remember trying to get the PC to recognize the phone, I tried to connect holding no buttons, tried with vol+, tried with vol- and sometimes I got the chime sometimes not.
And one of the final attempts, and probably the most progress I got before writing details below, I somehow got it into fastboot mode. I have no idea how, but it said fastboot on phone screen (with some other details) and it was connected to pc. I tried writing fastboot devices and it showed my phone as connected! So I thought OK, it seems phone is not totally dead. Then I wrote fastboot reboot-bootloader and it said success or whatever on PC, but phone didn’t react... After about 30 seconds or so, phone turned itself off (screen dead and fastboot devices didn’t see it anymore) and after this whatever I tried nothing worked. Since I don’t know how I got in fastboot mode anymore (I think I held some key and connected to pc, but can’t remember) I don’t know what else to try.
---------------
After all of above, I decided I will write down all attempts exactly. So if you can help me, please, write exact steps what I should try, and let’s see what happens. I will edit post and add what I tried from suggestions.
Power Refresh =
1) pull battery out (and keep it out)
2) hold power key 1 min
3) put battery back in
---------------
Attempt 1:
1) Power Refresh
2) hold power key 1 min – nothing
3) plug into charger 1 min – nothing
4) plug into pc 1 min (then disconnect) – nothing
5) hold power & vol+ 10s – nothing
6) hold power & vol- 10s – nothing
7) hold vol+ and plug into pc (30s) – nothing
8) hold vol- and plug into pc (30s) – nothing
---------------
Attempt 2:
1) Power Refresh
2) hold vol+ and plug into pc (30s) – nothing
3) hold vol- and plug into pc (30s) – nothing
4) pull battery 10s and put back in
5) plug into pc 1 min (then disconnect) – nothing
6) pull battery 10s and put back in
7) hold power & vol+ 10s – nothing
---------------
Attempt 3:
1) Power Refresh
2) plug into charger 10 min – nothing happened BUT, it’s warm between camera and power key
3) hold power key 1 min – nothing
4) plug into pc 1 min – nothing
5) hold power & vol+ 10s – nothing
6) hold power & vol- 10s – nothing
---------------
Ready to give up and assume it’s DEAD BUT THEN......
---------------
Attempt 4:
1) Power Refresh
2) Power key & vol+ - maybe a few seconds, phone vibrates, LG LOGO shows and it turns ON!!
3) I’m shocked, have no idea what to do now... Go into settings, check software version... Saw battery was at 85% or so....
4) Phone Reboots itself, LG Logo.... and DEAD. – but warm between camera and power key.
5) plug into pc 10s – nothing
6) pull battery (10s and put back in)
7) Power key & vol- 15s – nothing
---------------
WTF at this point? It’s obviously NOT dead, but not alive either. Zombie mode?
---------------
Attempt 5:
1) Power Refresh
2) Power key & vol- 15s – nothing
3) Pull battery (and put back in)
4) Power key & vol+ 15s – nothing
---------------
Attempt 6:
1) Power Refresh
2) Do nothing 5 min
3) Power key & vol+ 30s – nothing
---------------
Ready to give up again, HELP?
---------------
Attempt 7:
1) Power Refresh
2) Go to sleep, trying more stuff in morning......
To be continued and updated once suggestions come in.....
Got a bad phone. Get it replaced
Will do it on monday, I guess it's a hardware fault then?
Seems like it. usually if it only vibrates when trying to turn on then its in EDL mode(Emergency DownLoad mode) usually because there is a corrupt bootloader. if its 1 day old and that happens then we would assume that theres a hardware fault in reading the EMMC. Unfortunatly we cannot really do anything in EDL mode without the proper tools(like a jtag box) and the proper files which we do not have.
