Why did you ask for moving to Android head units @marchnz ?
He is talking about a WIN CE unit wich is not even hardware compatible with any of the android units in the market?!?

The unit is not Android Automotive. This is the closest forum as there is no wince head unit forum. You're welcome to use the report button and request it moved - say xda general qna?

This is at least even no unit which is discussed on XDA. I even don´t know any forum where these old fashioned units are discussed.
But I already answered that there is no possibility to switch from CE to Android without having deep insight into the CE6 system. At least Android would not even provide the needed driver to do that. Even the platform design is completely different...
Because of the limitations on XDA on more or less Android based units, there was no reason to move it anywhere. Just pointing the user to the facts and that´s it.

In this case you posted in the wrong thread.
To enable anyone to help, you should post some details about your unit in a new thread. This one is definitively the wrong one.
MCU version
CPU
A picture of the "About tablet" page would show us the needed details...

[Q] Keeping things organized in this forum

It's great that XDA have given us this dedicated forum for discussing all things Android car-audio-related. I think we were all hoping for a forum specific to each model or at least brand, but this is much better than a single thread.
I'd like to suggest that we adopt a method for telling threads about one head unit or device from another, so as to avoid lots of confusion. Maybe something like the following when starting a new thread:
[Model][General Theme]Put your thread title here.
For example:
[NU3001][ROM] XDAuto 1.1.6 installing and upgrade instructions
What does everyone else think?

I'd avoid using NU3001 as the generic name and probably use Carpad2 since the code works for many different models.
This is broadly a new category for us. I would like to see after a bit if it makes sense to split up into different forums, but for now it seemed to make sense to have a general forum for Android head units.
I don't know a ton about Android head units in architecturally, but tags should be used to generally categorize them into families, such as [RK3066]. An RK3066 based unit might be used across different cars with different faceplates, but have the same internals.
I wouldn't use the chipset as an identifier since they will all be vastly different and there is virtually no chance of code working across different vendors

Agreed, even all of the HuiFei models don't seem to be able to share code (at least MCU firmware).

Thanks !
Proper section for my Android Auto Headunit app, that can run on tablets and will also run on some Android based head units ?
There will be some confusion I'm sure...
I don't think there is yet any Chinese "Android Headunit" that supports Android Auto (though my app will eventually work on some.)
Then there are headunits that support Android Auto, such as the Pioneer 4100-NEX.
So perhaps the top level forum could be named "Android for Cars" or "Android Automotive" to distinguish it from the "real" Android Auto software and compatible headunits.
Or even something more generic like "Connected Cars" or "In Vehicle Info-tainment". The latter or similar, without a "Cars" reference, may be preferred, since boats, bikes, and other vehicles will also be destinations for this stuff.
And maybe a sub-section for software.

Yuntx android 10 head unit

Hi, I've just bought a yuntx head unit which runs android 10, and I'm not sure I'm asking in the right forum.
I want to use a different music app to the standard one, is it possible to customise the homescreens and the default apps?
Thanks.
Post MCU version, if it starts with MTCD, E Or P this is the correct forum. If not, Android Head units forum.

Ok, thanks for that information. I'm new to both this forum and android units so I was losing my way a bit. I'll check later.
The beginning of the MCU version is STM8, so I'm in the wrong bit then.

Hardware identification - help

hello,
i bought this unit sometime back. Please check details here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/8227l_demo-blaupunkt-key-largo-970-10-1-with-pcb-pics.4204181/
Can you please check the PCB and let me know what type of system is this? MTCD/E/B/C?
thanks in adv
Not an MTCD, you could try (Android Head-units) forum.
Looks like an odd ball.
it definitely is an odd ball. This is (supposedly) designed in germany and product managed in Malaysia and produced in china and distributed in asia...phew.
that post is already on AHU forum. Hope someone can help post this in 4pda Russian forums...
The 8227L definitely tells me that it is not MTCD/E.
It is likely a generic/unbranded 1G RAM 16G ROM unit, cheaply made, and cheaply sold on eBay and elsewhere. These units typically claim a fake Android version (e.g. device and/or reseller says Android 10 when it really is running Android 8 or Android 9).
Usually you're on your own if you expect any support from the reseller.

What's the difference between Mekede M300 and TS10?

Hello everyone.
So I found these two head units
Mekede m300s and Ts10
The ts10 one seems to have only two themes and the Mekede m300s looks much better, but the ts10 have 4gb ram instead of 3gb.
So is there any other differences? And which one should I go for?
Fyt unit. Mekede. Forget ts10

any reason why? is it quality problems or the ability to root and mod or something else? thanks
edit: sorry to ask this what's FYT?
Read this forum. There are several topics about FYT and what it is: No explanation here.
And indeed: go for the Mekede.
TS10 has more bugs, but there are also man happy users. It is sometimes simply a question of taste or "what does this unit better than that and is important for me".
So read, read, read.
It is actually not very usefull to ask this in a forum. Most users here only have one unit of the same generation (or two the same from the same generation) move from an older unit to a newer unit, either from the same reseller and the same manufacturer, or from another reseller but still the same manufacturer, or .., or ...
Which person has two or more uis7862 units from multiple manufacturers at the same time to compare?

Any chances of development of an Android Automotive Custom Rom for uis7862 (ums512) Chinese Android Head Units ?

This units are unlocked bootloader, rooteable, running android version 10 or above. Mine for example comes with 128gb rom and 8gb ram and it is fast, qled screen.
Not Android Automotive. OP doesn't realise device is simply Android modified by Chinese origin seller.

Easy question, easy answer:
No. As marchnz already answered: These units are NOT Android Automotive, these are reduced and special developed for being used with hardware on a separate board.
Android itself has restricted influence on the functionality of this board.
Android Automotive goes a complete different way and a complete different hardware combination.
The chipset is known so far and you would have found it yourself by using the forum search.
