can i use Droid2Bootstrap to flash update.zip to my milestone2?
Sure you can.
Which rom? Gingerbread leak cannot be flashed in any way, is not signed.
Also, there is no update.zip working for m2 at this moment, only some nandroid backups.
thx, I heared some chinese is makeing a rom for MS2(Android 2.2),so I just want to ask this,,,, sorry for my badly english
Yes, you can do that, but dont expect a clean 2.2. Till now, nobody find a way to remove blur, only hiding on the backeground.
Wait for a nice 2.3 leaked rom
hi everyone right now im on an errand for a friend of mine, i've been searching and i haven't found something that can serve me, i have found that i need to upgrade to froyo to install cm9, well in fact my friend will be fine if i just can put gb on his defy so if it is a real mess to install ics on this phone i think i will stick to cm 7.2 or 7 it doesnt matter i just need it to work fine and that he is able to install some apps that my firend isnt able to, i havent done root so if someone provide me with a good way to do it i would apreciate it a lot.
Does not mind whether you want CM7 or CM9 - first you should upgrade to froyo, best way through moto RSDLite program.
Upgrading to froyo will let you always downgrade to froyo again and you will have a way to any proper CM7 or CM9.
All info u can find here and here
U have to root, install sndInint, check whether u have green or red lens and choose any proper CM7 or CM9 to flash
Always do all steps as in threads - then u will not get into trouble
I have a T-Mobile SM-N900T GN3. I have rooted it and installed CW Recovery. Now I am in the process of trying to find a ROM I can use.
My main focus is:
1. Battery Life: I am a cyclist and ride some long distances in the middle of no where and use my phone GPS to track and broadcast my location in case of emergency and need assistance.
2. Aroma Installer: Got to get rid of all the bloatware on this thing so I can pick and install what I actually use.
3. I would love something that would allow me to increase the rows and columns so I can add more to the screens I use.
4. WiFi calling would be nice, Jedi Elite ROM supports this and I do use it, but I'm undecided if its absolutely necessary. I have been on the road and in areas where I could not get a cell signal but could get on WiFi.
I have looked at BobCat ROM and I was all set to install that but could never get it to work. So, as a get me by for now option, I installed Jedi Elite ROM (KitKat 4.4.2). Its okay but not sure its what I want long term. I cant, at this point, decide if I want to install Omega ROM or Ultimate ROM. Omega ROM specifically lists the N900T but OH MY GOD is it taking F-O-R-E-V-E-R to download. I thought it just may be my home high speed connection but when I got to work I tried there as well and am only getting 29 - 30KB/s for a 1.6GB ROM. If there is not a quicker way to download that ROM I may have to go to another.
I'm looking at Ultimate ROM and it seems really good, but cannot tell if it will work on the N900T.
Anyway, it occurred to me to post here and see what the recommendations would be. If the Ultimate ROM will work then I may just download that. But I cannot tell what, if any extras are needed. For example, with Omega ROM I have to also download the Compulsion Kernel and another file to fix Bluetooth, WiFi and NFC. NFC I don't care about, I never use it but the others I use quite frequently.
Sorry for the long post, just want to get a good ROM, install it and be happy and not have to fight bugs left and right.
A couple other things Id like to keep that the Jedi Elite ROM has are the Xposed Framework and the Viper Audio. I forgot to mention those.
In this Thread I will port the Iron Rom from the Tab S to our Note 2014
Thanks to Tkkg1994 for making the awsome Iron Rom and xluco for the Kernel
Just to be clear: I didn't developed the Iron Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/prerooted-stock-touchwiz-rom-t2973107) nor the xluco Kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2725193. I just put them together.
Ok, first how you install the Iron Rom: Download the Iron Rom for the T800 and the xluco Kernel for SM-P600 first and put them on external SD Card. After that go into Recovery and wipe EVERYTHING exept external storage. Maby you can also wipe system only but i highly recommend yout to wipe everything. Install now the Iron Rom and DO NOT CHECK REBOOT AFTER THE IRON ROM INSTALLATION, when it has finished, install the xluco kernel. Than do a Reboot. for me, the Rom took some time to boot, and often did some random reboots. when you see the assistant, you have to be very fast, dont configure anything, as I already said before, it will very likely crash after some time.
So, now why I opned this Thread: I'm not a developer, so I cannot do this by myself. Hope I will get some help, I know everybody is waiting for a Lollipop Custom Rom
good point mate ... Maybe I'm going to give other CRs of that a Try ... have you tried that with other Custom ROMs like AOSP ones or others ?
Yes, I did. In the past I could get a KitKat Rom from our big brother P900 running on my device using the same method as I used here.

@wulkanat @hitman1376 were either of you able to get this ROM running on your device? If so, which build did you use? I've tried at least a dozen different configurations via Aroma Installer on both the 2.4.5 and 2.5 builds, but the SystemUI crashes on me within seconds of booting up every time.

To be honest , I didn't try it out ... but , as the devices have so many things in common , it wasn't so odd ... but , does it happen the same on the MM ROM ?

You would think so. A couple years ago, it seemed like most apps/features were interchangeable between the Note 2014, Note Pro, Tab Pro, and Tab S on Kitkat. I distinctly remember my go-to ROM was originally designed for the Note Pro.
As far as IronROM V3.0 (MM) goes, the Aroma installer detected my device right away and put the kibosh on that experiment... not that it would have worked anyway seeing as how we don't have a 6.0.1 kernel... I was just hoping to get enough of the ROM installed so I could use TWRP's file manage to extract the files I want while still in recovery.
Anyway, now that my Note7 will be stuck with a non-rootable, unsupported, firmware for eternity; I figured it'd be fun to grab my old SM-P600 and see what havoc I can wreak on it.

Well , if you just want to play around , you can try out the stock Lollipop with my Prime Kernel and get better Performance and Battery or even CM13 / CM14 ... about the aroma , you can disable the device verification ... also I guess you can force the TW MM boot with Lollipop Kernel like it boots CM13 and CM14 ( I don't mean booting without any problems and also don't forget T-805's MM Kernels !! ) the Biggest problem is that we don't have a MM Bootloader which is the biggest problem ... anyway , this device is still so powerful to play newest games and OSs ... It's not fair to abandon it  ... You know ? I had a very busy day and I have been awake since around 6 AM when I woke for salat till now which is 12:41 AM :crying: !! so , My brain doesn't have any more juice and I need to get some sleep ... I hope you like my kernel ( esp. In case you'd like to test it out  ) ... I Updated it just some minutes ago
With Best Wishes

1. AOSP, by @freexperia -
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=17562
Tested 2/27 AOSP build. Seems smooth and stable overall. Only browser is some kind of experimental one that doesn't work too well, or at least you need to spend more time getting used to it than I was willing to. Camera works, but is as good as any other N camera at this point, (bad).
2. AOSP and Lineage, (CM), 14, micro-g patched, by @MSe1969 - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=155737 - haven't tried yet. I mistakenly linked it to fxp until I just now noticed it. Will try soon...
3. AICP - https://forum.xda-developers.com/so...lopment/rom-aicp-11-0-mm-6-0-1-amami-t3428288
Excellent rom, regular updates, and lots of customization. Some people have posted about dropped calls in recent builds, but haven't heard of other issues. Magisk integrated. If someone can figure out how to get a good camera, you could hardly ask for more.
4. AOSP by @CLINTZ9 - https://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/orig-development/aosp-t3317511
I haven't been able to get it to boot, (error in twrp). OP says to ignore error and flash, but it won't flash anything for me. I think others have, though, so maybe just something I'm missing. Let me know.
5. LOS by micha-btz - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=153937
Just stumbled across it, and my BL is currently re-locked, so plan on trying soon...
Update - tried today and works well, everything seemed to function. Bad camera as usual, and I couldn't get back into recovery for some reason. I had to flash a different kernel first...
6. CM14/LOS builds by @derf elot https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=41716
7. AOSP builds by SonyAOSP team, (@davidteri91) - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=187966
8. LOS 14 by @Hazou - https://forum.xda-developers.com/so...opment/rom-unofficial-lineageos-14-1-t3636822
Haven't tried yet. Let us know...
9. LOS 14 by munjeni - https://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/rom-t3657384 Probably the best yet. Excellent camera. Some have had random reboots on latest build, but maybe fixed with this - http://munjeni.myiphost.com/system.rar
10. Sudamod by @maz-1 - https://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/rom-sudamod-3-1-t3666092
Testing now, LOS-based with some custom tweaks. Fast and smooth, fully working. Op says camera is good, even though 3.1 kernel, pictures look OK so far, going to test more in the light. Very nice ROM.
11. M-ROM port by @dmgZero - https://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/m-rom-v2-4-0-t3711381
Stock Nougat style and apps on custom (Carbon) rom. Very nice. Original dev seems to have abandoned xda, but rom has been popular on several devices up to v2.3.1 (I use it on Z3c [https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/development/rom-los-xperia-ui-z3c-t3654894]). 2.4 was never posted on xda, AFAIK, but posted on a Chinese site called 0z4l, or something, but not possible to download without registration, and I couldn't get successful registration. dmgZero has modded it, apparently. I haven't tried it, since I'm using Z3c at the moment...
BTW - seems to be some degree of controversy around the security of latest version. Check device threads and judge for yourself.
12. Flyme OS by @dmgZero - https://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/m-rom-z1cflyme6-8-1-22r-t3742581 I'm mainly on Xc now, so check thread for reports...
to those that have tried the FXP 7.0 (nougat) rom:
did you encounter any other problems besides the non working camera?
Tried out AICP 10/3. Looks good, runs good, no camera...

New AICP build 11/4
hi good day. I'm pretty new to flashing
I managed to install some custom rom and gapps with TWRP.
so I'm now a bit more confident in installing new roms
there's so many custom roms, I don't know which to choose. I need something not bloated, fast, and fully working camera. any help is greatly appreciated.
(or maybe I just should root the stock rom and uninstall bloated apps ?)

For the short answer, he's probably right - Jaguar Is excellent. However, there are now very good roms for this phone in kk, lp, mm, and now n, so there's lots to try. If stability and camera are your main priorities, go with stock-based, or Jaguar. Personally, I don't feel debloating is necessary, if you use an app-management app, like AFwall, or 3C toolbox.
thanks guys !! i shall try jaguar !

Hi there,
I made a CM14.1 build for amami for you to try, based on the sources of sonyxperiadev, SonyCM and SonyAosp. So a big thank you is in order to everyone involved in these projects. I only modified the sonyxperiadev amami sources to work with this build, set SELinux to enforced and removed the Gello browser from the build (there are more updated derivatives on the Play Store anyway).
I have run it for a little bit, and noticed the following bugs so far:
- deepsleep not working when wifi is on (I think)
- camera sometimes force closes, sometimes works (known memory leak bug I think, cam is work in progress)
- lots of CM stuff is not there yet, including themes (remember, CM14.1 is a work in progress)
- ?
To install it, you most likely need real recovery with TWRP3. It includes the new Sony init, so reboot to recovery from ROM works. I'm currently using it with latest OpenGapps and SuperSU, which both seem to work fine as well.
The Z1C is currently my secondary phone, but once it becomes more stable and feature-rich and once Xposed is available for 7.1 (fingers crossed), I will probably also build for the Z3C. Unless we get to see some official CM love again of course.
