General [CLOSED] Is there a guide to 3D Printers? - 3D Printers

I have kinda watched 3D printer tech improve over the last 10 years and have no clue where to start. I like the idea of printing phone/ tablet cases , to adapters for SLR and Video Cameras all the way up to designing and printing car parts.
I know that for that type of stuff, there probably isn't 1 3D printer that does it all, but I don't know where to start.

GS2 on an RC Plane! (1080p)

I just thought I'd share what the video is like from a Samsung Galaxy S2 when it's strapped to an RC plane... with duct tape!
Sorry about the noise from 1m 35s (the start of the whole flight), maybe next time I'll disable sound recording!
Maybe the first of many flights and whilst only done twice thus far, each time I put the phone in 'flight mode' I have to smile
eeek .. I cannot post video links Umm, 8 posts? ..
the link if anyone cares to see it is: [EDIT] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf_V0VgMLXU
Here's a clickable link for the more lazy users here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf_V0VgMLXU
Thanks D3 .. I've not got many posts as I spend more time reading than writing
BTW, what did you use to mount it to the plane? I'd be way too worried about it falling off to try something like this
EDIT: just read the rest of the first post
I guess I should spend less time writing and more time reading
Crazy bastard. My heart would be beating at an excess of 400 beats per minute if my phone was strapped on an RC plane flying high enough to trash my phone completely if it fell.
Although I reckon you'd be more worried about the plane in such a situation,eh?
Hahahahah, awesome! You sir are nucking futs! And for that, I thank you.
I was more worried about the phone actually .. and in hind sight, the plane was repaired once after it fell out of the sky and I still decided to strap my phone on... what was I thinking?!
Years ago, there was a video of a Nokia N93 strapped to a plane that fell off but survived! youtube.com watch?v=l_o-vxvaN6c [sorry... can't link yet!]
I consequently bought an n93 and after I lost that, an n93i, which I attached to a larger plane with rubber bands At the time, that was my 'current phone'..
he must trust his RC plane flying skills a lot
Where I want to take this:
Onboard sensor logging + HD video. It'd be nice to see the accel., etc sensor data for the flight... I tried a few, with varying success ... after sensor/flight tracking, wireless transmissions!
The possibilities truly are infinite!
You are NUTS.
But that's awesome. RC planes is something I want to get into eventually, mainly to experiment with stuff like the DiyDrones autopilots.
Too bad the BeagleBone doesn't have a video encoder... it would be perfect for airborne video if it did!

You can buy some cheap planes these days and controllers. I looked into the DIY drone system and bought myself an Arduino, never used with RC and made a basic laser projector and a few other bits but not to it's potential. As I'd not even heard of the BeagleBoard, I briefly looked and it seems promising. The thing I'm ever so curious about is the Raspberry Pi...
I only ever wanted to film aerial photography but now I find myself seeing a few pieces of technology finally being hacked together. Options: Arduino + plane, Arduino + android + plane. One's smartphone could indeed, be a smart controller.
My phone has all sorts of sensors and records video, why not put that to good use, it's got datalogging, GPS, accelerometers, compass, it comes with a touchscreen interface and records video, I want to put it all to good use
If you are looking at easy DIY drone, you could start looking at the ArduPilot, and other variants. I think it caters for planes, helis, quadcopters and hexacopters... I think the later options are worthy aerial drones as they hover... and are quite stable... ArduIMU .. there are lots of free source code, etc available should you want to check it out.
I wonder if one of these could hold a Galaxy S II .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CR5y8qZf0Y

Shield + Portable projector

Nvidia Shield + Portable Project =.... Profit?
No really i literally picked up a cheap portable projector as a joke and went to my old tree house (Maybe 20 meters away from the house). I was surprised to still have a decent wifi connection and broadcasted a decent sized picture on the wall and enjoyed some PC gaming. Really wish I had this as a kid.
Figured I'd share the idea for those who may not have thought of this yet =)
Not sure if the idea of having a great 4g signal in the future going camping and still gaming or watching a movie on a big surface excites me or worries me about the direction I want to take with my media habits....

Err. Um. Ok... Seems like a lot of extra hardware for the bigger screen. But it *would* be nice to have a 7" screen.

yeah I know it looks crazy that's the hardware for the HDMI power and inputs , they have those professional field monitors for cameras even 1080p IPS but they cost more than the shield and they must be heavy with battery installed

How's it going Speedy? I know you from NBR
Also, the Shield already has HDMI output @ 720p via screen mirroring and soon (if it wasn't in the update a few days ago) 1080p.

Hey yes we have 1080p now but the update brake the bit rate streaming so there is a lot of artifacts now

[Q] How Can These 2 Be Combined?

My Core Question:
WHY do no Android tablets have video INPUTS on them, so they could also be used as portable HD screens?
(or better yet as portable HD, multi-touch screens)
Basic Idea: I want an Android Tablet that can ALSO do what the GeChic on-lap 1002 can do (even if that didn't include touch). The on-lap 1002 is a highly portable 10" 10-point touchscreen that plays video from any HDMI source (or vga with included adapter). It is powered by USB plugged into either a usb-charger style wall adapter or directly into a PC. The best part is that if it is plugged into a PC, it not only draws power there but also sends touch commands to the PC through the USB at the same time. Great for portable gaming or a second screen BUT they are about $250 for the 10" and about $400 for the 15.6" and they have no OS, or stand-alone capabilities at all. I want a tablet that is always useful as a stand-alone, but when the situation calls for it, can also do the on-lap's job! (If on-lap still isn't clear to you then here is a video of it's big brother the 15.6" version).
I realize that adding a feature can increase the price and/or size of a tablet, but MOST of the parts that they both use overlap, so I don't think that the increase in either would be all that big. An HD 10-point capacitive touch screen has to be the biggest part and single cost in both (so making one screen do both functions only makes sense for size and cost) and the same USB components could be used, same body, bezel, buttons, etc. Admittedly, some components would probably have to be modified like the screen control board. That might cost a bit more/be a little bigger as a combo item, but still shouldn't be anywhere near double sized or double cost... so go ahead and add a little bit of cost or a few millimeters of thickness if that's what it takes! I would gladly pay an extra $50-100 (and probably willingly pay a fair bit more) for a tablet to add this feature and that certainly SEEMS attainable.
I have done literally days worth of Googling and have read MANY threads (some in this forum) with people asking IF there are any tablets with an HDMI input. At this point I am 99.999% convinced there are NONE (but I would be VERY HAPPY to be proven wrong). In order to be 100% sure and let my brain rest... I just have to have some idea WHY doesn't it exist? I am hoping that some of the hardware experts and creative-minded modders that frequent this forum can help me understand what I'm missing or better yet help make it happen. THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ALL!!!
Some Clarification:
1.) I just want to re-enforce that I am asking about INPUTs, not outputs. You wouldn't believe how much confusion there was about the difference in a few of the threads I read on some DSLR sites
2.) HDMI seems like the logical choice, so I may use it in examples, but my question is really about ANY video input regardless of port-type.
3.) I know that video ports only serve as EITHER a video input or output, not both from the same port (Some day a single port that did both would be nice, but for now) couldn't a tab easily have 2 ports, one in and one out or am i missing something simple?
4.) There is one answer I DO NOT BUY. Which is that 'there is not enough demand for anyone to bother adding an input to a tablet'. I have read several threads that have asked if it exists since 2011 for everything from DSLR photographers, gamers, car-PC builders, RaspberryPi fanatics, techs that want a portable workstation to connect to servers etc etc etc. Whole product lines or even companies (like GeChic) are based on portable screens, so I don't accept the premise that there is no demand. Besides, even if there WERE small demand, that would explain why they DON'T ALL have it, not why NONE have it. All I can conclude is that I am missing something and it must be a much bigger hardware challenge than I realize.
That'd be SWEET!

Well thanks... I want that Too... NOW! haha.
In fact, I might actually buy one of the "on-lap"s you talked about for traveling (thanks for culling me into them!). But it would be awesome if my Nexus could just do it! Or better yet, if they would put some droid guts and a battery in that 10inch on-lap (I have decided too late that I like 10" tabs way more than 7s)
Unfortunately, I don't have the chops to answer your question. In fact, I'm with you that it seems awesome and yet reasonable. But there are some brilliant modsters on here, so I hope you get some help because it's a great idea. Good Luck!

Your Welcome... Assuming that was meant to say "clueing" you in
I am thinking about doing an in-dash car install of a table. But I would LOVE it if it doubled as a monitor that I could also use for a more elaborate windows7 car-PC for a possible later project. That is what made me first want it. I think I have some work-around ideas to fit those specific needs... but once I thought about it I couldn't help but think of how versatile it would be and a whole laundry list of potential uses!

HAHA yes! that WAS meant to saying "clueing"... But... Ya know... typos happen... Unless, of course, you actually ARE planning to install a "table" into your car's dash, rather than a "tablet"!

Touché Sir!

General FlashForge Adventurer 3 3D Printer, Any suggestions??

As title say I want to buy FlashForge Adventurer 3 3D Printer, Looks like this www.amazon.com/3GUg5jg
Also there is one good printer but I dont know which one is better for that price. Its about ELEGOO NEPTUNE 2 FDM 3D Printer. More about - www.aliexpress.com/e/_AU5OXZ
Please any suggestion. Thanks!
Any help?
One of my friends is using a Flashforge 3D printer and he loves that. He says that this printer has all new features
I would go for the Flashforge because it has auto bed levelling. The other one is manual, which I think is a pain in the butt. Most of my print failures come from poor bed adhesion
Flashforge Adventurer 4

Question What's the most key point when you decide to get a 3d printer

As the title said, what's the key point when you want to get your first 3d printer? Speed or others?
Search for printers that meet your criteria and what you will be using it for. I went with the Ender 3 V2 as I was planning to do casual printing.
While resin, filament, bed levelling, and print speed are all essential, you'll want to think about how much physical space you've got. 3D printers come in all shapes and sizes, from mini 3D printers to industrial-sized behemoths.
It depends upon your purpose and how often you would be using it. Also just make sure not to go for the cheap one because it may look fascinating at first but in the long term, it would be of no use. I went with the Ender 3 V2 because I just need it for normal printing.

I look at the characteristics, the number of tasks performed, the quality of finished products.
It´s very individual. Personally I consider the price to be the biggest factor. And as my 3D drawing/design-skills are zero, the next factor, is therefore, the number of upgrades for a specific printer, published on websites as thingiverse, printables, cults3d etc.
Lastly I look at the klipper compatibility for the mainboard in the printer
My main deciding factor was filament flexibility. I was buying my first printer 3 years ago and wanted to try various materials so I settled on the qidi xplus. I've been using it regularly since then and it hasn't let me down. I mainly print ABS now and it prints it very well. I use it to print several classic honda motorcycle headlight adapters which I sell and it's paid for itself many times over.
