Hello fellow XDA users,
My niece's low end Samsung tablet is extremely slow, even after factory resetting the device.
I used to own one of these devices two years ago, but unfortunately the developer of the old custom rom is no longer able to supply the files or anything to do with the custom rom.
What options do I have for this?
Any help is welcome,
Thank you for reading this!
There's saboorROM, which is the one you're talking about, but its not available as you said.
Lineage OS 15.1 is also available for the t377p, but its in beta and most people are reporting bugs for it, so i wouldnt recommend that, alas, you have no other option so here it is:
[UNOFFICIAL][ROM] LineageOS/Go 15.1 for Galaxy Tab E [SM-T377P/SM-T560NU]
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device. LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project...

Here's TWRP:
[RECOVERY][TWRP]Samsung Tab E - sm-t560/sm-t561/sm-t560nu/sm-t377p - Update 13/4/2016

Flash at your own risk, and make sure to take a twrp backup. I wouldnt recommend flashing the lineage rom tho.. I'd recommend rooting your device and optimising it.

You don't happen to have a copy of SaboorROM do you? The owner no longer does
Thanks for the help btw
no, sadly i dont. maybe try making a new thread and asking in anyone has it. even if they have it installed to their device, they could pull it via a twrp backup and send it to you.
Hey, I just happened to stumble across this thread. I installed saboor rom on my tab sm-t337w quite a while ago and happen to still have the zip file. what would be the best way to share it?

Hello, a question from a tab e t377V model. I am not familiar with android tablets, and have messed with some custom roms for androids long ago.
If my function with the tab doesn't extend beyond video, reading, and occasional web surfing- I would think optimising it is indeed best, as long as it will be much faster than what I have right now. Sorry to mention it, but just having it be as responsive as my ipad will be fine. Is there any steps videos avialable to do what you mentioned properly? Thank you!

optimising it is mainly just removing bloatware, and also possibly a kernel manager to boost performance.

Sounds good. Can you link or let me know where I can find the steps to do this? Thank you.
look for a debloat guide. You can do it via adb, but I'm not sure if you'll be able to find a guide for your device. Anywho, just install a root uninstaller app from the playstore and remove extra bloat (be careful though, as you could accidentally brick your device, take a twrp backup before messing with anything). For the kernel manager, I use smartpack kernel manager from the play store, I've also used performance tweaker and it seems to be alright as well.

Er did some searching around, and as you mentioned, there isn't a clear guide for this tablet. If it is not available for this one, can you refer me to a general debloat guide that might be "the best fit" for the tab e? thanks for your continued help.

Hey guys,
can you say me if there will be custom roms for this tablet in the future?
would be very nice, cause i love flashing all my devices
I would like to know too. Lenovo has crippled this version of Android.

They absolutely have. I was able to "semi-root" with framaroot, so thankfully su is added BUT I still can't uninstall bloatware...although there isn't much it still bugs me. full root and ROM still needed.
Custom ROM for S6000 would be very nice. Searching for it every day.
KitKat
Hopefully someone will add a KitKat ROM when possible, don't see lenovo upgrading us to it when it becomes available. Don't think the tablet is popular enough unfortunately though.
Just use titanium back up to remove bloat.... Work great for me
Sent from my IdeaTab S6000-F using xda app-developers app
Yea, I wish there was a custom ROM too. I just got my S6000-H yesterday, rooted it right away and used TiBu to remove some of the bloatware (I froze some more that I wasn't sure of). But it's missing simple things I'm used to from my N7000, like the advanced options in the shutdown menu.
I read in another thread that we do have a type of recovery built in - could someone tell me where to find it?
Never mind, found it ... and finally installed CWM today too. Now all I need is a nice custom ROM, but it doesn't look like any devs have that tablet
Use xposed to add modules. .. reboot, multi Window, floating, etc...etc... my S6000 tab works great. .. Still not good as my note 3 but...almost! My wife is jealous of all my tab can do... She think it stock that way. .. And her weird little Ellipses 7 Verizon gave hercan't do half of it. ... Guess I'll have to pimp her tab up for her! ! Look up x posed installer on xda, or Google it, then just follow where it leads. ... Easy

Thanks for that tip ... I just installed xposed and 3 modules, going to have a look through that huge list these days to see if I find more.
I installed the one to show the temperature in the status bar, the advanced reboot one and the one that shows RAM used/free in the task switcher. Pretty neat so far - if you know of any other "must-have" modules feel free to let me know
And sorry criszz, but no idea if that'll work on your tablet too

Thanks for that update!
I won't hold my breath for anything official seeing as Lenovo didn't even bump up to 4.3,
and zero ROMS out there? Or am I rubbish at searching?
I read in an other Forum that there is no Custom ROM yet because Mediatek isn't releasing Source Code of their ROMs. After Browsing Lenovo Site of the S6000 I have found this:
mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/s6000_tablet?tabname=manuals
You get linked to Manuals, click on Downloads section and then there is:
Open Source Code - S6000 Tablet 10/12/2013 - 320MB
Don't know if it's the right thing, just wanted to mention it here.
And other News on KitKat:
news.softpedia.com/news/Android-4-4-KitKat-Update-for-Lenovo-Yoga-8-Inch-and-10-Inch-Tablets-Coming-in-June-438474.shtml
It's getting closer now, first 4.4 mediatek tablet ( lenovo yoga ) get's update in June. Let's hope for a compatible version / port for the S6000.
In am wondering if the Updates for the Yoga Tablets are compatible with the S6000, cause they use same processor and overall same specs.
Greetings JanDr0id
ps: i erased the httttttp in front of the links cause its my 1st post and xda isnt allowing me to post links yet.
I saw that mediatek released their source for kitkat. All the parts are there. Just need a Dev with one of these to assemble it.

Lets hope there is a developer that can help compile it.
Was just wondering if it was possible and if so, what version of Cyanogenmod would I need?
First off, there is no more CyanogenMod. The CyanogenMod people started a new project called Lineage.
Now to answer your question. Yes, it is possible.
The Optimized LineageOS ROM should work on your device.

The install process is a subjective matter.
For me it's easy since I've been doing these things for over 4 years.
For you it might seem complicated at first.
There are various guides and video tutorials that will show you how to do it. The process is usually the same for every phone and for every ROM.

Fair enough, I guess I'll have to educate myself on the matter before attmepting to install anything.
I do have a couple more questions;
1. Does Lineage improve performance and battery life like Cyanogenmod claims to do?
2. I think Lineage is based on a newer OS (Android 7.x.x) then my phone natively supports (Android 5.0.1), would that be an issue?

Yes, although the LineageOS guys, the XDA community and devs (who work on it for free, during their spare time) manage to port the last version of Android to this device, you can expect some bugs, a degraded camera quality (because of proprietary blobs Samsung do not publish), and to loose some functionalities (smart pause, smart scroll).
However, the stock Android experience is worth the switch and you will learn a lot of things here, which is invaluable.
Try the unofficial LineageOS by side (original development forum).
Ok, thanks for the answers
Last question, would you be able to send me a download link to it? I couldn't find the right one for my phone.

I already told you, you need the Optimized Lineage ROM. It has your device listed as "supported".
It's in the GT-I9505 Original Development section. Impossible to miss, it's always around the top of the list.
And it is universal, meaning that there is no special version for your device.
Do note that the developer himself has a GT-I9505, and so do most of his test team members. So there's no guarantee that it will be a flawless experience.
Sorry, I must've missed that. Will report back once I get it installed
Thanks for all the help
Edit: On the download page there's two different versions
"Optimized-LineageOS-14.1-20170120-jflte-AROMA.zip"
and
" Optimized-LineageOS-14.1-20170120-jflte.zip"
Which one do I download?
YAY, it's all set-up and working now. Thank you all very much

Use the stock kernel. On the download page there should be an "extras" folder.
If you can't find it then download the aroma version and flash it. This one gives you some options during the install process.
Thanks, that fixed the issue.
Got another question,
How do I make my phone show up on my PC? Like it shows up as "GT-I9507" but when I open it, it's just empty. Before on stock Android it had 2 main folders, something like "Internal" or "System" and "SDCard" and they both had multiple subfolders.

Should work straight away normally.
Try enabling/disabling USB debugging while the phone is connected.
Tried that, still nothing

+1 for Pure Fusion, I get up to 10 and a half hours screen on time with better performance than I get on OOS, noticeable by eye.
Ultimately, you may find a better combination out there, but the baseline for me is Fusion, it just works as it should, stamina and power.

Super smooth, absolutely as fast as Oxygen OS. I always use "GApps" and here U should choose "ARM64" and "7.1". I recommend you to use either "Nano" or "Pico", but you could choose whatever you want!
1. Flash the ROM in TWRP
2. Flash GApps
3. Flash Magisk/Super SU (If U want to be rooted)
4. Flash "no_verity_op5.zip" (If your phone are dectrypted, otherwise skip this one)

Yea mate it's always the latest version of the Rom, I always clean flash too.
I've tried all the Rom's on XDA for the Oneplus, No limits for me is the best OOS Rom (personal choice) but overall and for the things I need from it, plus Displaylink technology works indefinitely on it, on OOS Rom's it cuts out after around 9 minutes which is a deal breaker for me.
10 hours SOT is superb.

Basicly:
Encrypted = Makes it more difficult for people who are not authorized to access information stored on the phone. You are thus safer when the phone are encrypted.
Decrypted = Opposite to Encrypted. The benefit with this one compared to Encrypted is a better performance.
You can check what U use by going to the settings menu, then head over to "Security & fingerprint", scroll down to the bottom and done.
PS: I am Decrypted!

This. Also, not trying to be rude and it's awesome that everyone is so willing to help, but I don't think spoonfeeding is the best option. OP has tons of questions (many that are simple and can easily be answered with self-research).
As the user I quoted mentioned, you should visit other threads that have instructions and information on flashing, encrypt vs. decrypt and so on!

Man, i have much phones all of them always have custom rom and kernel, so i never brick the device... All rom, kernel have in own thread installation process and i going with it, newbie for sure will brick the device, if i flashed much devices without a break them, then really you still think im newbie ? Cmon in my thread in #1 post, i dont write " its my first time with flashing the device, am noob or something like that " Newbies having 100% understandable tutorial about unlocking BL, install TWRP or Root the device, but they still ask for help, did you see anywhere in OP5 section about i needed help with that ? First of all, im not stupid and know any flash is risk, but if device bricked then this is not the fault of the author of the topic, only it is the fault of the user who carried out the installation wrongly. This post is for you and means you have to post something like this in threads people who really are green and dont know anything about flashing.

i am NOT calling you stupid. i AM definitely calling you a newbie.
the questions you have been asking are very rudimentary when it comes to flashing ROMs. regardless of your previous experience, it is still best that you do a lot more reading. this obviously isn't what you want to hear, but it is as true as truth can be. if you don't know what encryption is, then you shouldn't be trying to work around it. you should be figuring out what encryption is in the first place.
Ok so i have started developing a oreo rom (Android 8.0) for motorola i have made the zip to flash it and will flash and give you guys an update on whats working and whats not and if the zip file works. I started developing about a week ago so nothing will work properly yet.
Update: Forgot to mention its lineage os 15 but I used files from 14.1 I'll be a day or two for a zip file again
Update: Could be months before this comes out cause my computer has 4gb of ram I'm getting a new one soon and putting Ubuntu on to it I know this is frustrating for you but I promise the Xoom will be running Oreo smoothly soon.
Just so you know I'm not making stuff up
I'm sorry for stuffing up I can't send link for prove of video yet
Thank you.
Just read a blog post, https://www.xda-developers.com/android-go-old-android-8-1-oreo/ and came here to ask if anybody is building Oreo ROM for Xoom. It will be awesome to run slimmed down Oreo on Xoom. Its a great device and solid as a rock.
Since I installed Omni Stingray, DS has been using it every day for YouTube.
Thanks again in advance.
With Tegra 2 and 1gb of RAM the Xoom can barely run Lollipop. I don't see it happening for a device this old with so few users.
I am interested in it, but I think it would be very slow as it has only 1GB of RAM.
How about Oreo optimized with Android Go?
I can test it if needed. I have a xoom in a box somewhere. it could be fun
It sounds amazing, it would be exciting to see Oreo on the Xoom tablet.
Android Go might make this plausible; look at the specs of the devices it's been released on.

Any news? I would love to upgrade my Xoom 2 so that it will run Free Flight Pro and other newer programs.

Have you made progress? I want to keep using my Wingray/Stingray (s) - thanks.
This would be quite nice. I feel the Xoom quickly outgrew itself. Android was kinda clunky back then: low UI FPS, UI V-SYNC, and lacking overall system hierarchy. It would be refreshing to have a modern firmware build on an older device such as this.
It would really prove the dexterity of the the Android operating system. Not to mention, with the Android Go launcher sitting atop, it might actually be a phesable project for a device with such low hardware specs.
Also, I have mistakenly flashed the stock Honeycomb 3.0.0. Apparently this version of Honeycomb disables access to the MicroSD card reader and thus I cannot flash a ROM onto it from a external media source. I found a method Online for flashing a ROM from the internal NAND. You must use the ADB from a Terminal/Command Prompt to transfer the system image from a PC/Linux Box to the device and then flash it from there.
I do not have a good backup, and the recovery partition is currently blank. So I have been searching for a valid stock ROM of Honeycomb 3.1 with Gapps files included to restore it back to stock but with Root access.
If anyone could assist me that would be great!
what recovery did you use?
Wingray

Was gonna keep surprise but yes I'm working on it i put Oreo on it actually it was very slow so i gave up for a couple of months so yeah that was the delay I'm back into it now though and I'm making the android go version as of right now. I was developing on Wingray so no idea if this will work on Stingray.
GO GO GO waiting for ur rom

I'm using this 7.1.2 from crDroid that works pretty well - can be found on this site - but it is still outdated. Was hoping not to have to recycle this little tablet that I love but it is getting slow slow slow

Same here when it comes to speed. I have one stock, no root running 4.0.4 & another rooted running OmniRom 5.1.1, its not to bad but could be better. Hopefully CLOUTMAN will have some success getting Oreo in some form on out tablets
Dear All,
This morning when i tried to restore deleted photos from my A2017G (AEX 5.8 nFound Latest Treble ROM) because i accidentally deleted some important photos yesterday.
These are my spec:
- A2017G 4/64
- AEX 5.8 Treble by NFound build date 20180812
- Kernel Schwifty vR3+
- Magisk v16.7 (1671)
-- GL Tools Module
-- Magic Charging Switch Module
File recovery app:
- Disk Digger Pro File Recovery build date 20180805
I found some recovered photos which i never took with my camera or screenshot, and by the look of them indicated that they were taken silently by system (please notice there is no statusbar on the pics).
Can anyone else confirm my findings? Is it possible that the custom ROM itself does this or other software? I never installed any malicious or unknown apks on my phone but XDA Labs Apk and Magisk Modules.
Attached are some of my proofs (recovered with Disk Digger Pro), there are more but some of them are private whatsapp chat session and my contact lists.
Please be advised, this is a pure Q&A post, i never intended to accuse any developer of any ROM or Software regarding my findings posted in this post.
Any chance that recovery app showed original location?
do you need the file recovery app pro version to check? Root or standard scan?

Does the free root scan work? Or is there a free alternative that works? Don't think people will buy the app just to test this.
Can you tell us in which folder these screenshot files were placed?

free version is working perfectly for photos/videos, as long as you gave it root access.

they were "deleted" and the recovered files show no original name/loc.
For the time being, I move to PixelExperience Treble GSI.
I just hope and pray everyone else's data and privacy is safe using any custom rom out there.
Seeing similar screenshots here on Kranoner's last RR-O. My system has a lot of mods, but yours is clean right so it's not likely our apps or mods. I checked there's nothing similar on my Sony Z3C L14.1. Could be from custom bootstack or recovery. More likely it could be from closed ZTE code in drivers or bootstack. Easy way to narrow the cause to being proprietary ZTE code is running complete stock with root for awhile to check if it occurs. My ROM is B32 Nougat source with it too (though I think it has some Chinese B10 source mixed in looking at github), so can run B32 stock to check. Some screenshots are saved as 1440 while some as 720 resolution.
It will not look weird if this is true.ROMS from axon7 are maintained by someone from an "unfriendly state"
Moderator Edit: Please avoid being TOO explicit in your opinion on fellow earth-dwellers... I've edited the above. Thanks
Well this is strange then. Someone else mentioned the same Disk Digger discovered screenshots thing in the Moto G5S Plus forums earlier this month. Lluvia ROM. Wonder what's going on here.
I reckon it's time I examine my stuff on both phones.

That has got to be the most idiotic thing. So you're saying "they" (Kranoner, NFound, WesTD, et al) are subversives? Secretly and purposely grabbing goodies from our phones for some nefarious purpose? LMFAO.
Sure it's not beyond possibility but still...
That can be the case with anyone, whether they're flying the Red, White & Blue or the sickle and hammer.
Since a big chunk of ROMs are built by folks from around the world what are you gonna do. Start vetting devs to find out what their views are regarding the US/West before flashing ROMs. We really don't need that kind of thinking.
ZTE Axon 7 A2017U, AospExtended v4.6 ROM, LlamaSweet 0.5 Kernel, microG (NoGapps), Multiboot, XDA Legacy

ZTE, a government audited company from China recently got whipped by the USA for breeching privacy laws and providing equipment to Iran and you are worried about Russian and Turkish developers?
Do you realise that the Turks are big allies of the west? They fight with the west against trouble in the middle east.
And what connection would a developer have with any politics anyway?
Who says developers dont work in secret for the government? but i say crazy things fast lol,but not impossible. What else can the problem be?Google sources?

I would try that recovery app but how could I trust that app, not being malicious?
Can't find anything helpful about that app dev.

You can twrp backup first, test and restore after. Keep net turned off all the while or use a firewall.
edit: to external card to not lose deleted recoverable images
Im not saying the developers are,but ther governments. But probably im wrong lol

What directory did you find these in?
I got one better, was trying to download one of the HellsGate Kernels on my computer and Chrome won't let me download it due to a Virus detected and MSE quarantined it. I tried two different mirrors and same thing. Could be a false postive after reading about it but just want to let people know about it.

Report says it's a Win32 trojan. Don't think that applies to an Android kernel build file. Probably false positive
