Hey Yotafreaks! ;-)
Lately I was using YotaCamera on my Yota 3+ and I saw that the image on the EPD was rotating to landscape mode when I was moving my phone around. So I thought: What would happen if I choose 'Move app to second screen' on the front screen? Guess what? YotaCamera does support landscape mode! Looking inside the AndroidManifest.xml I can see <uses-permission name="android.permission.SET_ORIENTATION"/> is set, so propably the only setting you'll need for landscape mode on the EPD, but l'll have to test with a demo app.
Hi, I'm very interested in any way to watch videos in landscape mode on the eink screen of the Yotaphone 3+. If you have any idea whether or not it is feasible, please share =)
I wrote a reddit post about my attempts:

I remember that the implementation was successful, but I don't seem to understand the mechanism of the horizontal screen.

Hi,
I want to use my HD in Landscape mode in the car, mostly for Navigation purposes, but sometimes also 'just' as a phone. (I need the landscape mode to have full functionality of Navigon MN7). The Problem is that the TF3D supports only portrait mode. Is there a possibility to (automatically) use a different Landscape-Today-Screen when turning the device and get back to TF3D when turning back to portrait? The Toch pro has a kind of Landscape today-Screen, although it's not TF3D... could there be a possibility to use that somehow? or just any other sensible possibility without switching off tf3d or manually using second today or something?
regards jan
really no one any ideas/suggestions? am i the only one who has that "problem"?
Have you tried GSen or Gyrator 2?
From what I understood it will fit your needs. Search for any of them here on forum.
i know about programs like gsen or gyrator, but that's not the point... the point is that the tf3d today/home screen itself is not available in landscape mode.
Another problem seems to be, that there are certain applications, who change the orientation again.
When I set orientation to landscape and start Navigation, it works as expected. Then a call comes in and the phone application turns everything back to portrait ... no way, to go back to landscape anymore. Is there a way to tell the phone app, not to turn the screen back again?
By the way, on the touch diamond the phone app runs in landscape, when this is the actual orientation ...

i believe you just answered your own question.
if you look at the raphael, the landscape mode requires an entirely different set of graphics and frames and layouts. it is not a simple rotate of the portrait view. On HD, that set of graphics, and frames do not exist. I _believe_ even if the GSEN or gyrator will rotate the homescreen to landscape, you would get some pretty ugly results. i haven't tried myself.
Yep it's like an untuned tv on the right. I really like it
Having said that if anyone does port the graphics...

I have touch HD version 1.198310 WWE
Radio 1.09
My question is how to manually rotate to landscape mode? How to do?
I saw a youtube clip showing that no matter which application, the sensor is able to rotate to landscape mode. Especially useful when writing SMS and text, since the keyboard becomes larger (in landscape mode) and buttons are bigger. In my case the device, when rotated, does not move to landscape mode, except in these apps: youtube, opera and viewing pictures.
how to solve this issue?
Is there an updated ROM to fix it?
I wish my device goes into landscape when I rotate and when writing texts (SMS or word)
Thanks

You already asked this question in Blackstone ROM Development. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=453

Hi, guys!!!
In Iolite there isn't option to change screen to portrait and landscape screen mode. So, I decided to write a small tool to do it. Hope it useful for someone.

anyone try this??????????????
I didn't, as i don't really see the point...
There is an option in the settings just for that (at least in custom roms).
If you have a stock rom, then it should be useful...

This is neither true, a little registry modify is sufficient, but:
I tried it, it doesn't work, in a first moment it change portrait to landscape but, when you close the app, display come back to portrait it's unhelpful

Some app can't be displayed in landscape mode (for instance manila). If you close this program and then it's manila run, screen mode will become portrait. It's happening with phone, that have option to change screen mode (i checked it).
If you run apps, that can be displayed in landscape mode (windows media player, file explorer...), you can then run this program, change to landscape mode, close program. You'll see that screen mode will remain landscape mode.
ok, but is too work... after registry modify, you can to associate "rotate screen" function to an hardware button, I do it with long press "green horn", thus, I can change portrait to landscape and vice versa in every moment I want...
I have just found out how to enable option to change between landscape and portrait screen mode. I will include it in my next ROM
Best regards!!!
So I'm making a "smart mirror" which is powered by a Galaxy S4 (International variant, 4.4.2 Rooted). I am connecting it to a 19" monitor via the MHL adapter, through an HDMI-->DVi converter, then plugging in to the monitor via DVi. The monitor does not have any native image control beyond color/contrast/brightness.
Initial Problem:

When the phone is landscape, it will fill the monitor horizontally. When the phone is portrait, it will letterbox the portrait view in to the center of the screen so that it is "right side up" . The problem is that my monitor is physically rotated 90* to be in portrait mode itself. Ideally, I'd want the phone to be in portrait and then output it to the monitor which would fill the screen in portrait mode, but this is not possible as far as I know.
Here's how I'm solving the problem temporarily. I'm just playing with image previews right now, so I made the image in landscape orientation with the content sideways.
This produces the result I want. http://i.imgur.com/P92PPPm.jpg
If there is a way to control the MHL output settings, PLEASE SHOW ME! I do not think this is possible though.
So I think I'm going to do this:
-------------------------------------------
The first step to my solution so far is to write my own app to handle everything, and have that app built to display sideways. This is good since I will be creating my own interface for the mirror anyway.
In this situation, ideally I would want to develop the app in portrait orientation with the content right side up, then when I am ready to try it on the mirror, have the app run in landscape mode but with the content turned sideways. There should be no visual difference between these two states on the phone, the only difference is that my monitor will display it to fill the screen.
Alternately, I could build the entire app in landscape mode, and build all the content rotated 90*. This would result in what I want but would be very annoying to work with in the build stage. Regardless, it is better than nothing. If this was the case, I would also be looking for a way to rotate my view in eclipse so that I am viewing the content right side up, but the phone sideways, as opposed to the default condition where the content is sideways but the phone is represented correctly.
If you have an idea on how to make any of these solutions work out, please help me out! If I am being confusing, let me know and I can try to make an image representation.

I have an Carlingkit Tbox Plus. I am looking for a way to rotate specifik apps. (from landscape to portrait).
I have tried a couple of apps from the Google Play store, but without success. They work on my phone, but not on the box.
I wabt to rotate the TIDAL app from landscape to portrait, because there is no navigation panel in landscape mode.
Kind regards
The solution is to use Tidal in split screen. When you do that it uses portrait mode and the apps navigation panel is visible.
You might need to activate split screen in developer mode.

It says tidal isn't supported for split-screen whenever I attempt this, did you encounter the same issue and found a workaround?
any solution?
