Adding More Band Modes - Blade General

I am using the ZTE 2050 and started playing around with different things in the MTK Engineer app when I ran across the Band Modes. As I scrolled through them I noticed that several of them were unchecked. So I checked them all and no longer had any lag in my internet. The pictures don't show them checked, but they are definitely checked now.

How did you get to them service settings? I can't get to them for the life of me I've tried everything about to get to that. I've tried every mtk eng. App still no luck I have a blade v. 2 on Android 10.

[Q] Racht's 2.2.1 v0.15

So I can't post in the Dev Forums so I thought I might create a thread here about the bugs found in floyo v0.15, and maybe somebody could help me on these problems.
1. The auto brightness works but it sometimes results in my screen completly fading black in 2~3 seconds. And then the phone will remain unresponsive for 20 or so seconds.
2.The SD-Card safe to remove reboot. Actually this is not a problem but What I want to say is in the time I've been using this rom I have only had two of these, which is really impressive compared to what I saw in the Dev Thread. All 2 occurred when I had about 10~15% power left. I don't think that is a coincidence so maybe someone could look into that and probably solve it.
3.Not a problem, I just want to say that, battery usage is superb.
4.I had a bit of a problem with the Google PINYIN IME, it would be disabled every time I restarted.I moved it back to phone storage and after one more problem it solved itself.
5.Compass crashes and results in reboot.
6.With PowerAmp and Default music player, the volume keys on the side do not work while screen is off.
7.The camera button is disabled.
That's all for right now.
8. canĀ“t play .avi files with Rock player.
rock player really sucks on this rom
@UAL4588
dude somewhere in dev forums i read that there is a market app for camera. did u tried to use that one?? sorry forgot the name..
if you face any other issues please do mention it
*on the verge of installing floyo 0.15*
installed floyo 0.15 & ran quadrant, score 1070 , cpu 3389, memory 834
Woot, my first post. XD
I've been following racht's work, updating once I deem the ROM stable enough.
About the re-start thing. Yes, it's annoying. But I think it only happens when your system tries to close Root explorer. I'm guessing you're using some type of app killer. At times like these, I try to keep my phone as clean as possible, only installing apps that I need since lots of programs usually ends up messing with non-stable ROMs.
Auto brightness works fine on me. Not perfect but my phone doesn't freeze.
BuG: When battery level is at 10%, auto-brightness doesn't work if you put your phone to sleep. When you unlock it, brightness will be near the maximum level. To fix this, I just re-cycle through the brightness setting in the PowerWidget to quickly go to dim.
The camera here is definitely better than the stock one that Sony gave us. But I'd really want to be able to record videos.
I wonder why the camera button doesn't work to get pictures...
Oh and... Facebook crashes for me. I reinstalled but still, it crashed.
...
Hopefully, racht would be done soon. I'm checking on his thread everyday now. Support him, everyone. XD
fb work fine for me in 0.15 , but I want to remove some of the apps which comes pre-installed with floyo 0.15, like i dont want to keep the skype, but when i removed it with root uninstaller it showed up like a .com.skype...... file in the apps menu, though upon taping on it doesn't works.
Try removing it using Titanium Back-up. Worked for me.
Oh, and some apps leave those things. Check the filesize if it's 0 byte.
If it is, it should be safe to delete.
does ever try to wipe the data first? the Fb app wouldn't be crashed if the data wipe first(factory format)..fb app runs ok for me

found some issues in racht's floyo 0.15, as im unable to detect mobile network through the wireless & network > mobile networks menu. My phone does connects to my operator network & it runs fine, but i can't manually search for a network operators available, it only displays an error as "error while searching for networks"
also when my phone gets starts up if i kept it idle then it gets restarted & thus it gets into a loop
anyone has faced these issues yet??

I didn't have any problems with Wi-Fi detection when I was using Floyo. Try full-wipe and re-install ROM. Though I think you should just update to racht's Gingerbread.
About the reboot loop, that's caused by xrecovery. There's a fix somewhere here in the forums but I suggest just updating to Gingerbread since racht took care of that already.

keeping the radio you dont have off

I found a program called Nobars in the market. What it does is monitor cell reception and turn the radio off when you have no signal. There is an option to keep WiFi active when it puts it into airplane mode.
I have confirmed that it works as it should by taking it out of airplane mode several times. Since installing it cell usage of the battery has not budged.
I know this can be done manually but this is an automatic option that constantly monitors.
Nice find

Does this need root?
Cause it doesnt seem to work on mine (note rooted yet)
I dont see any notification as the settings suggest..
Its not working for me neither.
Mine is unrooted too.
Do we need root?
mine is rooted and it doesnt work : still have the "veille gsm" process sucking battery (A500 french)
I am rooted, it doesn't work for me either.
Does Airplane Mode Work?
Has anyone seen any positive effect of keeping the tablet in airplane mode and just turning WiFi on/off as you need it?
This app does not need root. While it was working great for me initially it now seems to have stopped working. I am going to play with it a little today.
And I definitely see a difference running in airplane mode.
There is another app I run on my droid x that shuts down everything at night. Going to see if that works on Honeycomb.
for anyone that it is not working for, you can turn on airplane mode manually and then re-enable wifi

You can do this, but have not seen any adjustments to the battery use at all. It still keeps draining for the cell standby.

Airplane mode does not fix the Cell Standby drain.
I have seen this topic discussed in the Androidtablets forum under the Acer specific thread. (I still can't post links but it's exhaustively been discussed in that thread).
Unfortunately, the a500 was designed exactly the same as the a501 (which will be the 3G enabled Acer tablet eventually).
The bottom line is, this probably won't ever be fixed. Renaming phone.apk and telephonyProvider.apk does fix the issue - but it also bricks your tablet.
For my Droid X, I use a widget called "Dazzle!" which gives me control over the Cell Radio - even on my Droid, I can disable Cell and not have a Cell Standby drain. Unfortunately, this widget does not appear in the market for the Acer...
I think we've gotta wait for a crafty developer for a workaround, or wait for some custom ROM's... Acer doesn't seem to have any plans for a software update for this.

All we need is a kernel that disables the ril. DJ_Steve did it for the Streak 7.
I have a help-ticket out at Acer about this issues, which has already surpassed Level 2 Tech support. It's been a while since my last response (which told me to send the unit in for faulty parts, haha). We'll see what Level 3 has to say. So far they've only sent form-letters back.
I have a feeling our developer community will have this issue solved well before acer even acknowledges it.

Which leaves us users who don't want to go the mod/root route in deep doo doo.
I completely agree.
I finally decided not to root my Droid X for the gingerbread update. But the tablet, I have to admit, I might have to actually Root to fix the issues.
I hope Acer creates a situation where Rooting isn't necessary. But, it looks doubtful. I'd rather root and gain 4+ hours of battery, than not root and gain nothing.

How is your battery life before and after? And, renaming them does nothing unless you reset the Iconia.
What I don't understand is just what kind of reset does this. There's a lot of chatter here but to me a hard reset always meant a complete wipe of the device back to factory default state. Apparently even a "soft reset", i.e., just rebooting will also bork the Iconia so just be careful.
Am I on to something here?
Hi guys, I am a noob here so please dun flame me
I actually installed minimalist text onto my A500. I tried to customize my widget,
and when I went into the part where I can customize the activity of clicking my widget, I discovered that the list consist of mobile network settings (It actually consist of the full list of mobile networking settings)
Out of curiosity, I selected the mobile data network setting as my widgets default action. When I went into the setting, the "Data Enabled: Enable data access over Mobile Network" is actually being checked. I had unchecked it, and now my "cell standby" in my battery use has stopped.
Maybe I got it wrong or its just coincidence, but I thought maybe someone else can try it and see whether is it really workable?
I am keeping a look out on the battery statistics; hopefully it really works.

Wow! I just went into my Beautiful Weather settings and under the "Advanced Panel" you can specify an action for clicking on the time (or weather). When this is done, it provides a large list of action - this list, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't show up anywhere.
Anyway, Mobile Data was checked (yes or on) so I cleared the list (resulting in mobile data being UNCHECKED) and rebooted. Mobile data remained unchecked so I'll watch for a while and report results later.

Yeah the list didnt show up anywhere unless we went to customise widget setups like what we did. Lets see how things goes!
And it seems as though the mobile network settings etc is hidden due to the fact that our A500 is wifi only?

[Q] GPS broken

Hi, the GPS in my 32A seems to be broken. I've tried several different roms, both new radio and old radio, and depending on the rom it either gets a fix once in a long while, or never. So I suspect a hardware issue. Could this be fixable in any way?
Unfortunately the fact that I had a working gps for several hours on Sunday proved to be some sort of a random fluke. Well, what I did was I reflashed radio, using a different minor version of 3.22, and that seems to have caused the gps receiver to work more or less correctly for a while. However, today it's back to its usual condition: able to tune in to 1 or 2 satellites at most, and of course no location fix. To make sure I kept it active for over an hour today (outdoors of course), running the gps-status app - its (non) performance was very consistent over this time span. At the end 50% of the battery charge was gone, too - but the display was on and at full brightness for most of that time.
UP I've seen other people have also experienced GPS issues esp. on 32 A and using Gingerbread ROMs. I'm interested in knowing whether this is a generic software issue with this combination, and if it would be a waste of time to try to solve it by downgrading.
Did you try to use the "right" GPS configuration.
I'm in EU - so i made sure that the GPS is using Europe settings.
Most roms use the US settings...
The last rom i used, took like 30 min to get a fix..
Changed the configuration file, i got a fix within 45 sec.

I get tired of explaining that this does not work. The gps.conf in this zip is exactly the same as the one that came with my current ROM. Its contents only affects how assisting data is fetched from the net. The GPS however should be able to work even in the absence of any data connection, you should just expect to wait a little longer for a fix. Data or not, I usually do not get a fix even in 30 minutes. In the rare cases when it works, location is soon lost or "sticks" at a previously reported position even when I have moved quite a bit since.
the gps conf is using normal servers or is it set for using google servers too? seems to be working better when using google server settings also on gb so i heard
The gps.conf is totally irrelevant here.
I have tried a total of five different GB ROMs, both on 3.22 and 6.35 radio. The GPS does not work correctly on any single one of them. I tried switching between different (but compatible) radio sub-versions underneath the same ROM. Nothing helps.
On Froyo (CM6) the GPS works somewhat better. Fixes are slow and precision is low; accesing the GPS sometimes causes a reboot; but at least this proves the hardware is working.
Interestingly, I checked that the libgps.so files found on Froyo and Gingerbread are bit for bit identical.

[TIP] FM Radio users one setting could cause drastic battery usage.

First the tip: Don't use the "Show Station ID" option, it causes a massive battery usage.
Here are some numbers, with it turned on 4 hours of uninterrupted radio listening drains 36% of my battery. With it turned off the same 4 hours only drains 20% of my battery.
This is caused because with it turned on the phone never goes to sleep when the screen is off. When it is off the phone actually goes into deep sleep will still playing music which causes the drastic difference.
My numbers are based on 40 hours a week listening for 5 months of Station ID being turned on without thinking about it and getting a consistent 36%/4hr daily
Then I did my only factory reset when going to a ICS rom a couple weeks ago and not thinking to set it I started only losing 20%/4hr and noticed I was spending time in deep sleep.
It's great leaving work after a 8 hour day with a extra ~30% battery then I have been used to.
Actually that's not an accurate comparison seeing that you've switched roms.
Try to compare it now on your new rom so that the comparison is done on same roms.
But thanks for the info anyway.
I think this may be due to the HUGE number of messages written to logs when RDS is enabled. I see this with my FM app using the RDS in my app's Samsung FM API mode, and there's not too much I can do about it in that mode.
====
BTW, I very much need people with S2's to help me get my app working on stock or stock derived ROMs on which the stock FM app works. It works fine on Galaxy S for a while and probably just needs a tweak or 2. See my post here and respond via PM or on my thread, since it's Off Topic to this thread.
Except that... perhaps my app can use less power when in background or screen offm since it can turn the RDS off then.

I did a quick 1 hour test with it on and the numbers still match up. My phone lost 9/hr which does equal 36/4hr.

I'll run a test on my Galaxy S and I'd bet the same thing happens. I think a dozen or more log messages every second can do the battery in faster.
For you or anyone else looking to test my app, there's not much to it:
Feb 26 release on the Market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mikersmicros.fm
Possibly better Feb 28 release: http://www.mediafire.com/file/i5654nm9vzd9d9m/Spirit_FM_Radio_v120228.apk
Just ensure a wired headset is plugged in, install the app and run. If you are rooted you should deny SU when it starts. At the Intro screen, press "Disable".
Hopefully, it will "just work" at that point.
NOTE: I just realized now that if you give my app SU, it will not try the Samsung FM API, it will go straight to the low level mode which gives no audio on the GS2. So set Menu->Settings->Debug->FM API to "OEM Proprietary" to force use of the Samsung FM API. If this API fails, I think the app will fall back to the low level mode. That can be prevented by setting Debug->FM Chip to "TI" and if the OEM API fails, then power up will fail.
Working or not, please give SU to my app, restart the app and send me a debug log with Menu->Help->EM Logs. After a few seconds. enter "GS2" and/or any useful phone or ROM etc. information in the email text and press send.
Remember, this test request is for stock or stock derived ROMs that can run the stock FM app only.
My app has been running in a "low level device driver mode" for over 6 months now on rooted GS2s, but without audio, except I think on the MIUI ROM which supports the CyananogenMod audio method. I need no testing for this mode, unless you know how to enable the FM audio or want to try the different Audio Methods to see if any magically work.

[XPOSED] Mobile Radio Active Fix now available via xposed module

Article about the bug: http://www.xda-developers.com/xposed-module-to-fix-mobileradioactive-bug/
Details here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/xposed-mobile-radio-active-fix-t3137573
This should be considered a must have along with the Lollipop memory leak fix xposed module for anyone rooted even if they don't use any other xposed modules*.
This should noticeably improve battery life.
* Rootcloak is also useful to idol users because it allows system update checker to CHECK for updates without the "root detected" error. You should still not actually INSTALL updates until fully unrooted.
Thanks for the info Famewolf !
I've been closely following the thread but it seems this only fix the wrong reporting of mobile radio in the battery stats and only improve a little the battery life.
Still better than nothing tough.
I'm astonished this huge bug is only looked into by xda volunteers and not by Google...
Bazoocaze did an amazing job btw !

It's more than just "reporting". It's the equivalent of opening the door to your garage or outside in the middle of summer and then wondering where all your cool air conditioning is going. Check your power bill the next month when in this analogy you would have left the door open for hours and hours at a time.
It fixes a bug that dropped the instruction telling it to close the radio so the radio connection remained open using up battery needlessly. I do however agree that it is sad Google and others didn't fix this a long while back as it's been widely reported.

You might ask in the actual radio fix thread linked in the message I linked to as they can better provide you details but it's a given that if you have not patched the bug then you still HAVE the bug.
So, does it actually work?
I think Radio active bug is not present in this phone, i have been all day on LTE and Radio active time shows 2 hours. which is more or less the screen on time, and the phone was 12 more hours in my pocket or on my desk.

hey guys now I can't permanently keep the data to " wcdma only" by going in phone testing (*#*#4636#*#*) remember that?
perhaps it is because of the "mobile active radio fix"
Xposed module because it was working fine earlier but even though now I have tried disabling module and uninstalling module but I can't change it to wcdma only, it keeps fixed on gsm only.
even though in setting I have it set to 3g preferred but because of poor reception many time it goes to 2g and back to 3g it is very irritating.
btw I am able to use 3g, can anyhody tell me how to fix that with fixing of mobile radio active bug
or is it a problem with the cm12.1 itself, btw I'll post in both forums

I use wcdma only mode all the time as i'm in a fringe area that barely has 3g in both stock and now in cm12.1....the radiofix module wouldn't have anything to do with it. You can go into the dialer and do a *#*#4636#*#* then go into phone info which will let you select wcdma only or you can install the "network" app from either google play or f-droid which when ran acts as a shortcut to take you straight to the phone info screen so you can set wcdma only.
