Hi,
Greetings Everybody
I am using Redmi Note 7 pro for last 3 years and have not faced any problem till date. two days back i have factory reset the phone and have installed all apps afresh. Some banking applications which detect sim card automatically are giving SIM not Active / Check SIM in slot error message. All calls, SMS through this number are working as normal
1. I have only 1 sim - AIRTEL
2. Same sim is able to work with the same banking apps in other handset
3. I have manually set all permissions and tried
4. Tried sim in both slots
I am really worried on how to solve this problem. Humble request to the experts in this forum to guide me and solve the problem
Thanks in advance

Yesterday i faced same situation in my device. But i got it after hours of struggle just go to Security menu at Home page and agrees their T&C, this will work in every miui 12.5 after factory reset and new device.
Am a developer of some banking application. From many Xiaomi user i heard the same complaint. @Seshdeep does is started working fine after agreeing to terms and conditions? Your reply will be much helpful for me.

HI Can you please share steps in detail. I am facing same issues. Default system applications are having access but not other third party applications like Gpay etc.
Thanks a lot @Gaurav11x ! This solved the problem for me also.
Exact steps for others: There is an app called "Security" in MIUI. Usually on the homepage after the factory reset. I am attaching an image of the icon of that app for easy finding. Open that app and accept the terms and conditions. After that, this SIM issue with banking apps gets resolved.

Hello there,
I undertook to unlock the bootloader of my xperia x compact, of course without saving anything (bye the DRM keys), I then used the fastboot to install Paranoid Android v7.2.3, success after the second attempt.
So the phone started very well, but no SIM card recognized at the start of the phone. Possibly PIN code appeared after 10 min of ignition, loop on the "unlocking in progress" and then nothing, no network.
I have been back several times on the official rom via Sony Companion without success. Last night I tried to flash a rom stock with Flashtool. The operation was going well and oh miracle the sim card was detected directly, so I'm configuring the phone and installing all my applications, a reboot after all that and the SIM card had disappeared again.
Since I tried Flashtool several times without success, downgrade to 6.0.1 either.
After hours and hours of research I still do not have the solution, I have crossed several times on forums for the same kind of symptoms but always accompanied by an absent IMEI, but when I type *#06# my IMEI is displayed correctly .
If someone has already encountered this kind of problem I would love to talk to him. Thanks for reading me
Good night

Yes I have selected my APN, edited as my carrier said. The biggest problem is that the sim card is not detected immediately at startup. And when the sim lock pop up (about 5min after starting the phone) validation of the pin code is much too long to be normal. The code is accepted but I have no network, and when I try to search manually in the settings I have a loop on 'searching'. I think the problem comes from the modem / radio but I do not know too much these points, I just follow tutorials on the internet.
I say start from scratch but use Flashtool

I've already started from scratch with flashtool, several times ...
Some news of my problem.
I have since tried several times to change rom, to flash the modem / radio.
Now my sim card is recognized, but still no network. I have wrote my APN correctly but still nothing.
The network appeared only once after the installation of Paranoid Android, but as in my previous post, after a mobile reboot nothing.
Namely that in the phone information menu, line data service: Disconnected and in this menu enable data connection does not change anything (I can't even enable it). Select radio band gives me 3 choices (Automatic, USA, Japan) and when I click on Automatic I get Set [Automatic] Unsuccessful.
If anyone can help me, I'm really starting to feel hopeless.

Hi, i had the same problem. To enter the pin straight away simply go to the quick settings and check if you have the LTE tile there. If not add it. Then hold down on the LTE tile and it should open mobile data settings and then it takes about 5 seconds and it should ask for pin. I have no idea why it is like so but currently i am on paranoid android 7.3.1 and have no problems. Best wishes!

Something similar happened to me recently and it was fixed by selecting my provider via wireless networks > mobile networks > service providers
In my case AT&T was selected when I chose Tmo and rebooted everything was fine. Good luck.

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and I would like to reach out to you guys to see if anybody can help me with an issue I am having with my Essential PH-1 phone after updating it to the latest version of Android. Basically the issue is that the system won't recognize my SIM card after the update, it just says "No SIM card - No service".
I've tried so many things already but haven't had any success, here is a list:
-> Rebooted several times.
-> Cleared cache.
-> Reset network settings.
-> Did a factory reset.
-> Rolled back to Android 7.1 (SIM card works) then updated it back to 8.1 (SIM stops working).
What's really funny though is that my girlfriend has the exact same phone, from the same carrier and she was able to update her phone to Android 8.1 without any problem. I also tested my SIM card on her phone and it works fine too.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot it?
Thanks,
Mike.

Where did you get the phones (hers and yours since you specify a diff)?
Did you try the unlock on this thread.
What carrier SIM are you using?
I haven't had that issue on this phone. When I previously encountered it (on the Pixel XL?) I powered my phone down, removed the SIM card, booted the phone up into Android with no SIM, powered back down, inserted the SIM and powered back up.
When you did the factory reset did you restore your phone from a Google Cloud backup? If you did you might have also restored the data that was causing your problem. Choosing the fresh start option instead of restoring from a backup is a much better idea.
Me too, with some added info

Might try having your girlfriend power cycle her phone.
I'm having the exact same issue with phone, Sprint service, except it did not manifest itself until a few days after the update when I power cycled the phone as the youtube app locked everything up.
I tried the advice above by the original poster, and the second poster, less the factory reset, to no avail.
Still looking for a fix. May revert to the prior version if I can figure out how to do that.
Troy.

I am with a Canadian carrier called TELUS. I assume my phone in unlocked already because before the update I tested it with SIM cards from different carries and they all worked fine.

Have you tried manually installing one the current builds from the manufacturer's website? That is what I plan to do next but haven't had the time yet...

I just did a SETTINGS/SYSTEM/RESET-OPTIONS/RESET-WIFI-MOBILE-BLUETOOTH.
It was fast, then I restarted. That worked for me!

This also happened to my wife's phone. It just started not recognizing the SIM card on Thursday the 19th. I tried a soft reset, a hard reset, removing and reinstalling the SIM card, updating the Profile and the PRL, all to no avail. I took it to the Sprint store, and they had no fix for it but gave me a code to dial ( *#*#72786#*#* ) that gives you some service for a short while. I finally had to file an insurance claim on it and had them send me out a new phone. I will not be updating to Oreo until they push out a fix for this...
Hey guys,
Just wanted to give you an update on my issue, not sure which one of these things helped but this is what I ended up doing and it seems to be working fine now:
-> Rolled back to Android 7.1
-> Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & bluetooth settings
-> Reset app preferences
-> Downloaded & install android 8.1 oreo update
-> Took out SIM card and restarted the phone
-> Connected to wi-fi
-> Inserted the SIM card and now it has been working fine

Glad to hear it's now working.
I have the same problem first with [ROM][8.1.0][trlte] Resurrection Remix 6.0.0 [20180425][OFFICIAL]. I took out the SIM card and inserted it back to the older Note II runing RR 5.8.5, it works!
Then I installed lineage-15.1-20180427-UNOFFICIAL-trlte.zip from https://basketbuild.com/devs/ripee/trlte [20180427 today], again, NO SIM CARD!
I noticed that both RR and Lineage Oreo 8.1 have the same problem at the first time system reboot: they both ask for inserting SIM card even though the SIM card was already inserted. I have never had such an issue in the countless ROM changes with earlier versions. Since current RR also use Lineage Oreo 8.1, I think the problem most likely comes from the Lineage Oreo 8.1.

I don't get it. Just realize I may be using a different phone (Galaxy Note 4). This method won't work.
I have a Motorola (Moto G5 Plus) and also had this problem. For me it occurred after 1st power down/up after update to Oreo 8.1 (from 8.0). Note that my phone has a dual sim (which I guess might be important here).
This is what worked for me
Settings → system → reset options → reset wifi, mobile, bluetooth.
Turn off the phone
remove sim
Start the phone.
Settings → network → SIM cards → enable Slot 1.
Then the screen with PIN-unlock was finally shown. I just needed to enter the PIN and it now works.
So thankfully didn't need to reset the system or even application settings. Just needed to enter my WiFi password again after all that.
Essential PH-1 SIM Card Problem
I discovered there is an information tag in the SIM Slot (it's got the texture of a mattress tag) the tag has FCC and Consumer Compliance Information printed on it. In my case, when I slid the SIM card into the SIM slot the tag got between the SIM Circuit and the SIM reader. I blew out the SIM Slot with canned air and the tag extended out the SIM slot. I tugged slightly on the tag. It's firmly attached at the top of the Sim slot. When I slid my SIM card back in I had a connection. I contacted Essential and they confirmed that the tag is there and said the tag shouldn't be a problem, but I think in many cases it might be. Essential said I could remove the tag if it interferes with the SIM connection.
I've been having this problem with the newest Android 10 update after about a hour of installation. I'm running twrp with stock Android tried resetting the connections, restarting the phone, and pulling the Sim tray and reinserting. The only thing the fixes the problem is wiping the phone and reinstalling. I'm currently back to running the last build. Anyone else having this problem?
Greetings, I appreciate your valuable help.
I have a Motorola moto g5 plus, XT1681 channel software retla, Android 8.1.0, security patch October 1, 2018.
The problem is the following a few months ago I received an OTA update of a security patch and installed it left me with no mobile signal , I thought that changing the rom could be fixed but nothing, watching tutorial videos I made flash to the cell phone with 5 rom different but nothing, ticking the * # * # 4636 # * # * tells me "Voice service: radio off". And when searching for networks, it tells me an error when searching for networks. I could not find the problem if someone would help me, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you ...
When I first updated to Oreo before going for a custom ROM I had the same problem for a week or so, after many attempts factory resetting and doing a bunch of stuff I took the Sim card slot out and into my brother's phone to check if it was that and it worked fine, but when I got it back in my device it just started working as usual. Try it if you are able to.

Thank you, if the attempts to enter and remove the SIM card were too many as well as the restored factory values, as I read it is because the EFS folder may be lost or the files may be damaged.

That is the problem because the cell phone has the original imei and are not reported.
Hello everyone. After a lengthy battle, yesterday I finally was able to unlock my bootloader, flash a global rom (via MiFlash) to my Redmi Note 7 and lock the bootloader again using fastboot.
However I've encountered an issue that is very annoying. Every time the phone boots, it fails to read my Sim card, so I'm forced to eject it and then reinsert it in order for it to work properly. I use an SD card and I tend to reboot my phone once or twice a week, so you can get an idea of how much of an inconvenience this is.
I'm pretty sure this must be a software Issue because before the ROM change, I've never had an Issue with this. My phone model is M1901F7H and the rom is Miui global (10.3 Stable 10.3.5.0).
I need to mention that my current carrier (I got the phone from them) disables the hybrid sd card/sim slot and sells the phone with only one working sim slot and a custom ROM. After installing the global rom I noticed that now I can enable/disable the dual 4G connectivity for both sims toggle (it was greyed out before) however that is the only option regarding the dual sim settings that I can interact with and the second slot is still only usable for an Sdcard.
Currently I don't care much about the dual Sim feature, but it has crossed my mind that maybe my current Issue is related to this?
Anyways, thank you for taking your time to read this post and I apologize for the wall of text.
I would be very grateful if someone could help out.
Edit: I forgot to mention that one of my banking apps is now unusable as it crashes over and over again since I've installed the Global Rom. Don't know if it's related to the issue, but it worked just fine beforehand.
Check out my thread.
I'm also on 10.3.5 and think the issue is software related.
After reading your post, I'm thinking we may have something similar going on. My phone is working fine with no problems reading the SIM card after a factory reset a few days ago.
Hopefully you don't end up having the exact same problem I did.
I also have the same problem, I have to take out the SIM every time I reboot, I have the derpfest ROM and so far I have not been able to solve the error.
