network lock and custom rom - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Questions & Answers

Hello. Got a Samsung J3 in germany. Only problem is that it is networklocked to AT&T after a total factory reset and now cant unlock it. Hard to get any help from AT&T.
So, my question; If I do a root and custom rom on it, will it remove the network lock or do i just need to buy a new phone?

[Q] Sim Unlock after Hard Reset

Hello,
I've purchased Galaxy Note 3 (SM-9005 Model) From Italy.
The device was locked to europe only,
but they have removed the lock by making a call for 5 minutes with their european SIM.
The phone is now unlocked for me and works, I can make calls etc.
I would like to Hard Reset the phone or change it's ROM,
but I'm afraid it will be locked again.
Do you know if it would stay Unlocked or not?
Bump.

Nobody can guarantee you anything, but:
1) before writing a custom ROM be 100% certain you have a full backup of the "sensitive" partitions!!!
2) if the region unlock becomes your only problem you might be able to fix that again by either using an EU SIM or by writing to Samsung and asking for a code (there is a thread which has more details on it, Samsung Germany are by far the most professional and helpful from all of Samsung representatives in EU, ideally write them in German even just using Google translate). If you originally had a network unlock then things might be more complex (but I doubt that is the case since a network unlock code would also fix regional unlock) and if you (or the custom ROM) messes with the modem or other sensitive partitions you are your own and only specific backups of those can save you in an effective way.

SIM Unlocking Canadian S5 (900W8) after rooting

Going away, wanted to unlock by Rogers Samsung S5 so I can use a local sim card. Bought an unlock code on Ebay, but it was not accepted. Now I'm doing some reading, says that phones with customer ROMS sometimes have trouble with legitimate unlock codes.
So if it's true, I think I need to go back to stock and try. But I wanted to see if anyone had any experience doing this, if they think that customer ROM is the issue. Also do I have to just go to stock, or also stock recovery, and what about bootloader, does that have to be changed back if I've installed an updated bootloader?
Thanks a lot.

Hello Guys, NEWBIE HERE<NEED HELP WITH ROMS AND CARRIER UNLOCK OVERSEAS FOR THE 350T>

Hello Guys, NEWBIE HERE<NEED HELP WITH ROMS AND CARRIER UNLOCK OVERSEAS FOR THE 350T>
So, heres the deal, I'm currently abroad, so I've got no idea of, if I can flash the Global Unlocked version of the Stock UNLOCKED rom for this variant of the GRAND PRIME.
Since it is the tmobile variant I did had my doubts when buying the phone, but I got it Dirt Cheap, either way i'm stranding of path, tried to unlock with preinstalled tmobile app, checked the imei on the tmobile - us database to see if that was the problem, not reported lost or stolen anywhere, so I figured, what if removing the preloaded apps that interfere with region lock of sim card reader locking, might help me?
Therefore, my question PLEASE HELP ME lol, its the only phone I have on me and need to use it here.
Regards.

Had this experience before. Purchased an S4. Then tried to unlock through the service menu based on a XDA tutorial. Didn't work and it could not be unlocked with a right unlock code later on. Eventually, I returned it and get another S4.
This happened to me on galaxy s4 but it was my mistake. My s4 was rooted and I had attempted to unlock using region lock away for unlocking region lock. But when I received the unlock code(sim unlock) i forgot i had left my region lock away on. So i had to reverse that region lock away (or just restored my phone) and retried the code, which then worked fine.

Did you ever find a solution?

The certain carriers are Cricket / ATT. If your NCK is not working, you have to get the MCK code. I have a special hotline you can call about the issue since normal att tech support cant help. check your pms
