I have a general question on Wifi connection. pls share your thoughts on this.
I have a 40 mbps connection in my room. pls says that any of below 2 conditions makes any difference.?
4 mobile phones coneected to 2.4 GHz in a same room (40 mbps fibernet plan).
2 mobiles connected to 2.4 Ghz and 2 mobiles connected to 5 Ghz of same router (40 mbps fibernet plan).
does condition 2 makes any difference?

After nearly a month of periodic outages and erratic 1x speeds, 4G performance has stabilized at near pre-upgrade levels, but tethering speeds have suffered a near knock-out punch.
Pre-Upgrade
Tower to device average mid day 4.5 mbps / 1.03 mbps
Tethered P.C. (Easytether) 4.5 mbps / 1.03 mbps
Tower to device average evening 2.5 mbps / 1.03 mbps
Tethered P.C. (Easytether) 2.5 mbps / 1.03 mbps
Post upgrade
Tower to device average mid day 4.0 mbps / 0.80 mbps
Tethered P.C. (Easytether) 0.6 mbps / 0.65 mbps
Tower to device average evening 2.5 mbps / 0.80 mbps
Tethered P.C. (Easytether) 0.5 mbps / 0.65 mbps
Now get this sh*t,
Simultaneous speed tests...
Tethered P.C. started first
Tower to device mid day 2.5 mbps / 0.65 mbps
Tethered P.C. 0.8 mbps / 0.70 mbps
Evo started first
Tower to device 3.0 mbps / 0.75 mbps
Tethered P.C. 1.5 mbps / 0.80 mbps
Any ideas how to get tethered speeds up to pre-upgrade levels? My Evo is running the same Myn's RLS 5 w/ SBC 4.1.9. net's before and after tower upgrade. I've done full wipe and fresh install, reprovisioned, the works.
I have played with Filter Proxy to no avail.
Should I roll back to 2.1?
Anyone else getting terrible speed on WiFi. I am getting around a meg down and half up...on FiOS 50/25.
You're not the only one...there's another thread here somewhere.
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using xda app-developers app
Download: 16.6 MBit/s
Upload: 5.6 MBit/s (provider limited)
Ping: 25 ms
Down: 50 Mbps (can get about 95 consistently on my computer on the same line)
Up: 5 (provider max)
Ping: 14ms
I'm happy with the wifi performance. Could only consistently get 30 down on my GS2.
2.4 GHz or 5 ghz? The interference can cause very poor speeds on 2.4 GHz networks as there are only 3 overlapping networks. I get 25 to 35 Mbit on an 802.11n 5 GHz network. Have you run any WiFi scanning apps to check for interference?

On my gs3 same network I used to get 30+/10+...something isn't right.
Yup same issue I think the WiFi radio needs a software update

Getting 17/2.5 here, same as my desktop.

I've had this. Turned wifi on/off and it fixed it so that I got a nice fast connection
i had very slow wifi speed...
the solution that work for me is
on /system/etc/wifi/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini
set "gEnableBmps=0"
disable the BMPS "Beacon Mode Power Save"
now i have good wifi speeds
after the 4.4 upgrade I noticed that my WiFi was significantly (%90) slower
Before kitkat wifi speed was 35 to 40 Mbps max,,After the kitkat wifi speed is 3/5 mbps almost %90 down I try everything reseting the phone, resetting the fibre optic modem nothing works
But i try Ookla speed test on galaxy express 2 connected the same network and speed was 38 mbps
Is this right ?
I can't find definitive specs on the wifi capabilities of this phone. Specifically which speeds each band supports on each standard (N, AC).
My netgear r7000 is capable of up to 600mbps on the 2.4Ghz band and 1.3 mbps on the 5 ghz.
I have a 155 mbps internet pipe which is over provisioned to somewhere around 175 mbps. I can generally saturate this easily on the 5ghz band during offpeak hours. But usually get somewhere around 80-90 mbps on the 2.4ghz band.
From the router wireless status, the 5Ghz band syncs at 866mbps (900mbps), but max I see on the 2.4Ghz is 144mbps. This explains the speed bottleneck. What it doesn't explain is why the 2.4ghz side is syncing at such a low rate. Signal strength shouldn't be an issue as the router and phone are less than 10 feet apart.
Thoughts?
I think I just found my answer.

1. 802.11 40 MHz bandwidth is not supported in 2.4GHz WLAN.

Lack of a 40 mhz bw at the 2.4 mhz band is why it tops out at 144mbps (N150) instead of 300 (N300). I'd speculate the reason might be because some of the supported radio bands are very close by (1900, 2100, 2500, 2600 mhz).
This puts one mystery to rest
Good in depth explanation on the topic:

Hello, I have an Asus zenfone 3 ZE520KL and I have a huge problem with this phone, at wifi capabilities, in 2,4 Ghz 150 Mbps N, and 2N 300Mbps routers, it negociates just with 72 Mbps only. It is frustrating. And with AC band 5 Ghz router it negociates in 150 Mbps.
This is a normal thing ? This phone can not negociate with 150 Mbps in 2.4Ghz N Band ?
Thank you!
