What did i do ??? ->> Root my tab A - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

Hi Everyone,
my device is Galaxy tab A SM-T590
I was hoping with rooting my Tab A to get access to SuperUser commands in the same environment
(just as you create a root password in Linux)
so i found a guide on the internet downloaded a Rom and installed it via Odin
but now it looks more that i installed a factory Binary, with all kind of Hardware tests but not looking in any way like a useable android version
all kind of things even rebooting
is this wat rooting means? or did i just f*ck it up and install the wrong binary?
how to get it back to a working android version with play store access etc?
Thanks in advance,
Jan-Willem

unbelievable .... downloaded another image .... now it is just the way it was ... root checkers says i have no root access ./.. i don't get it at all
no one said it was easy ... but a day later many burnt hours and practically only did a factory reset and wiped all my apps... im a noob

Not my tab so I can't help directly, but you'll need Magisk and a patched boot image for rooting. Check the Magisk subforum for a guide or more users that are able to help you.

learned there i should use magisk ... but the screen of magisk does not really appear self explanatory
looking at https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root
patching images is not that easy ... first unlock the bootloader
found a tutorial https://www.thecustomdroid.com/galaxy-tab-a7-2020-rooting-guide/
the more i read the less i understand
first step unlock the bootloader by pressing volume up and down at the same time
and when you did this, then connect it to the PC while holding these buttons
after long pressing volume up it should unlock the bootloader ... it does not

maybe it depends on what device you have and what version
i think my device does not have the vaultkeeper
used this one https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root
sent the complete AP to the device
patched it with magisk (
uploaded it with ADB
restarted my tab in download mode (power + vol up then choose bootloader mode)
installed BL+AP+CSC with odin use 3.13 because 3.12 hangs detecting my device
rebooting i see a message about setting waranty bit kernel .... bye bye warranty ??
booting takes long long long
magisk seems to be half installed and wants to install aditional stuff and reboot
has now a superuser tab .. looks promising
installed root checker --- oow yeah i can give root acces .. it is like a sudo
installed link2sd --- i can give this one SU rights too .. now the most exiting part
trying to convert an app into a system app
my /system is not in /proc/mounts ... that is a deception
there seems to be a systemizer module in magisk
installed the app systemizer
GPS joystick the special version from their own page
used ADB shell to run systemize
there is a /system ams a somewhat priv-system ... i tried both
but somehow the enable system mode remains greyed out
but rooting worked ... the rest is for some other time

[GUIDE][ROOT] Sim Unlock S7/S7 Edge

This guide is for those of us that have devices that have been updated to the new bootloader 4 firmware which prevents downgrading to a firmware compatable with most sim unlocking tools. Firmware versions that suffer this include PH7, PJ2 or PK1 for s7 and s7e (s7e=edge for purpose of this guide, s7=g930x, s7e=g935x).
This method was used personally and tested using a sprint s7 g930p on PJ2 firmware. Your mileage may vary
This involves rooting and will trip warranty status flag. If you have another rooting method different from this thread that wont void warranty or trip KNOX please use that instead.
After this guide you can use a unlocking method of your choice a few that work will be outlined later and also a few to avoid. I also recommend having a copy of your stock rom in case anything goes wrong.
Part A: Setup
1.) Download Root_S7.zip from the bottom of this post, extract the files so that you have the folder Root_S7 with files inside it.
Copy this folder to the root of your phones internal storage and leave a copy on your PC also so you can run(double click) Root_S7.bat in the later step.
2.) Download and setup Package Disabler and use it to disable the following: (should be about 5 apps total. This step not 100 percent necessary but I found it made things easier)
Anything that says Knox
Anything DM (all of them)
SecurityLogAgent
3.) Go to Settings>About Device> and tap "Build Number" 7 times to enable "Developer Menu" then enable "USB Debugging" and "OEM unlock" in the Developer Menu.
4.) Power off the phone completely, now hold Home and Volume-(down), keep them pressed and power the phone on.
5.) Press Volume+(up) when prompted to enter "Downloading Mode"
6.) Connect USB and wait for all drivers to finish installing on PC.
7.) Download SM-G930x_Engineering_BOOT.tar.md5 or SM-G935x_Engineering_BOOT.tar.md5 (choose correct file for S7 or S7e).
8.) Open Odin3 (Run as administrator), then select the above file in "AP" slot, then press START on Odin3, the file will be flashed.
9.) keep phone connected to PC as soon as the system identifies the device Double click "Root_S7.bat that is inside Root_S7 folder that you extracted on your PC. After the phone reboots automatically it is rooted. (it may take a couple tries due to the phone bootlooping, once successful SuperSU will be installed)
10.) Open SuperSU app and go to its settings>Access> and change it from "Prompt" to "Grant". After you have changed this setting the phone should only reboot 1 more time.
11.) Proceed to unlocking
NOTE: If SuperSU prompts "update su binary" you need to run the Root_S7.bat again, and/also check that you have copied Root_S7 folder with exact same name and location as the picture below. Do not use the SuperSU from playstore use the one included in the zip.
You can now unlock using idoneapps or you can PM grsjohn.
After unlock I suggest reflashing stock rom to remove root and restore functionality.
Part B: If you decide to pm Mr. grsjohn.
1.) On a windows machine download and install TeamViewer 11 and Usb redirector
2.)In Teamviewer click extras>options>advanced>show advanced>install VPN driver (its close to the bottom)
3.)Contact Mr. grsjohn. Prepare to donate because Mr. grsjohn is awesome and is doing this with his own resources and free time. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks to and beers for

Don't bother with Super SU anymore. Follow the instructions to install TWRP via Odin then reboot to TWRP and flash the latest Magisk which you can find here on XDA, along with complete instructions for how to flash & use it.

Here we go. This is for S320VLUDU2API3 firmware, but probably works on any revision 2 firmware.
KNOX should remain 0x0
Instructions
1. Enable OEM UNLOCK
In Settings>About>Software info tap the build number 7 times to enable developer options. Once you've enabled developer options, developer options will appear in settings just above the About device option. Open developer options, the 4th or 5th option should be “OEM Unlock”. Turn on.
2. Flash the eng boot image.
This is a special boot image normally used by engineers, it allows selinux to be booted in permissive mode with relaxed root restrictions.
Do not replace this image with the stock image after rooting your device or you will possibly soft brick your device.
(See below for how to recover)
ENG_BOOT_S320VL_API3
3. Install boot image:
Download Odin v3.11.1
Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the ENG_BOOT_S320VL_API3.tar to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
Reboot
Check in Settings>About>Software, your device should be in Selinux permissive mode.
4. Install and run Kingroot:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
Make sure you have an internet connection.
You may need to run Kingroot several times to gain successful root.
5. Install and run SuperSU me to remove Kingroot and convert to SuperSU (not required) :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ore&pcampaignid=APPU_1_uzPDVbGyFcGNyATHrqmoCA
6. Wifi fix:
modify the line below in /system/build.prop:
ro.securestorage.support=true to false
Recovering from a soft brick:
Flash the stock firmware provided below wirh ODIN
https://firmwarefile.com/samsung-sm-s320vl
Good luck I hope it works for you.

Does it reboot itself as soon as SuperSU me installs supersu? That's probably the reason for root not sticking.
You could try the script below, I have confirmation it still works for the same procedure.
Steps 3 to 12.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ide-how-to-root-tripping-knox-kitkat-t3129484
Obviously use updated apps and don't flash the boot partition.
You will also need to flash the system version of SuperSU not EverRoot.
When you get to step 12, don't flash the firmware.
Disable EverRoot and just flash this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/v2-64-2-66-supersu-mode-t3286120
That should give you permanent root.
Sorry, but I don't use any of those apps you posted.

It's not related to the bootloader, the bootloader is still locked, it's simply an incomplete installation of SuperSU. Probably due to permissions.
Follow the guide posted above and you should be good. I'd also suggest using root package disabler to disable knox.
Hit search in the app and type knox. Disable all knox related files.

Hi,
still not rooting perm -- Followed the exact tutorial you have gave us , me and my friend and we both lost root.
stock > odin > kingroot apk > supersu me > flashfire > supersu-sytemmode.2.79 rebooted lost root.
the only way we can do this is not to ever reboot....to keep root

So even when flashing root with Flashfire still losing root? Did you try using the script posted above?
Also could you post a screenshot of Root validator after losing root?
I would also suggest flashing the stock firmware with FLASHFIRE.
Ensure to Uncheck the boot partition and disable EverRoot.
Add the system supersu zip to the install.
It may be remnants of Kingroot causing the issue. Flashing this way will ensure a clean system with just supersu.
Having the same problem
I can't even do the OEM unlock and wondering if Knox is stopping me from doing it. Kingroot gets to about 77% before giving up. Also tried "one click root" and "odin" and a couple of others. Tried to uninstall Knox with many different aps but noway will it let me. I bought this J3 in HongKong and it is full of crap and adds that pop up and cover the whole screen. I have had some negative affects on the phone with all the playing around I've done to the point where when I hold down the buttons (power volume etc) the phone just goes into its first normal boot screen and stays there. Hope I haven't hijacked the thread but thought I may have the same problem as the original thread poster

I was surprised at first when you directed me to this thread ashyx, the first word I saw was Kingroot and I was sure a dev such as yourself wouldn't use that.
I write against Kingroot all the time. It is information stealing malware that doesn't even give true root, packs PUPs, and sends IMEI and other info to China upon install (check the logcat).
And it's nortoriously hard to get rid of and replace with a different SU. From what I read above, true root hasnt' been achieved yet. Ive used KR a few times in the past, but never again. It used to be easier to replace KingUser w SuperSU. Not so much anymore.
Please folks, Kingroot IS NOT actual root ; please quit posting about it in a true professional developer site.
Ahyx, PM me if you wish. I'd like to work on any methods other than this. I can get the bootloader unlocked from Net 10. But not until having it hooked up w/ lthem for a year. I've already chosen to disconnect this device anyhow because I can't stand using a non-rooted phone. Too bad, it's a good machine. I got a great buy on it. $50US brand new. Same store today $99. WalMart = $120
I just bought an LG G3 for $45. Verizon model, interesting root. I had to downgrade firmware to achieve root. It's TWRPd, and running Dirty Unicorns 10.6, a nice rom, better once I mod it.
Tried the latest RR rom for it. Nougat was cool, but too early, too many bugs.

S6 Edge+ SM-G928A Root [Q]

HI Everyone ,
I have been trying for a while to Root the device, no hope yet.
I'll let you know what I have tried so far, also I wanted to include some refrences "new here, sorry"
First off I tried with Z3X "Samsung Tool Pro"
to do anything on it but flashing stock Rom not gonna work without Rooting.
the app actually roots some devices automatically and for sure mine is not included
so I tried to manualy root it using other methods:
1- normal well known way flashing auto root file using "Odin3" flashing auto root file downloaded through "chainfire" same issue auto root file is not there.
2- downloaded and installed one click root "website uses just the name, easily found on google" that one is so easy to use!
* just enable debugging mode, connect the phone and click Root. (no Root available now)
3- Downloaded and installed kingOroot "website uses just the name, easily found on google" same steps exactly. and same issue
4- Flashing TWRP;
Download TWRP for S6 edge plus: (I mean Compatible)
dl.twrp.me/zenlte for me flashing fails.
also made sure that OEM is enabled and track phone is diabled.
and definitely USB Debugging mode also enabled.
I've tried some other files "G928A_Root.md5, twrp-3.0.0-0-zenlte-zenlte.img.tar, CF-Auto-Root-zenlte-zenlteub-smg928g.tar.md5, CF-Auto-Root-zenltekx-zenltekx-smg928n0.tar.md5 " also no luck at all.
kinda stuck here and need help

change the version of twrp?you can download"official twrp app",then choose your device type, it will show the last compatible version for your phone
Is TWRP installed or not? if so, theres a nougat supersu root without kernel install for s6e+
Find any way?
Anyone??!!??
Any updates on this? I've done all the above that op has done as well before stumbling on this post. twrp doesnt have an exact flash for g928a at&t version. only thing that popped up recently is some guy on youtube showing he did it but thats it for his 2 minute video no description and no replies in comments. hoping someone is willing to spill the goods for this specific device to root. Thanks in advance

root SM-G975F

i know there are a few ways to root the S10+, now we are a half year futher and my question is; what is the easiest way to root the S10+???? because i can't get it done.....
Dont rkot you will regret it
Hi, you can root only if you own an Exynos model, check this first...
The easiest way is to root with magisk without twrp in my opinion, all instructions are in S10 Rom thread, it is the same for S10+. Remember that it will trip KNOX and you will not be able to use Samsung pay, all other apps as far as i know you can get work properly. For me SPay was not relevant, because it is not working in my country.
I have rooted my phone a month ago, installed AdAway and AfWall, some addition open sourse apps and i am totally happy with it=)

I am stuck on canary Magisk not allowing me to patch the standard AP file I loaded onto my phone. It constantly spins "Checking for updates" and never lets me go to install and then patch the AP. Yes I have booted into recovery and erased al data and caches and checked that OEM unlock is greyed out and boot loader is unlocked.

Issues rooting
Hey guys,
I am having issues rooting an S10 +, I used the guide to patch the AP file using magisk and then flashed it using odin, followed the rest of the guide to the letter.
Then once the device finally booted, it showed me the set up screen, then we back to the Samsung splash screen and had a a warning in red across the top of the screen that said "Only official binarys are allowed" and just kept on boot looping.
I then flashed the stock rom using odin, I have used the same process on an S10 without any issues.
Does anyone know where I may have gone wrong ?
