A yes or no answer would be very helpful. Is it possible to do without cross flashing VS995 firmware? Thank you.

The us996 can be naturally bl unlocked with lg site I believe. Bl unlocked is best for root. But if you still want your bl to be locked and yet have root, you can try this... https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/3-18-71-perf-root-root-shell-for-lg-v20-variants.3990145/page-5. Download on page 5 at top post. Instructions on first page. Hopefully this helps your desired answer.
There are various other instuctions on page 5 also further down. Hopefully no issues for you.

Hello
I'm runing S5 Rc Elite rom on my Note 3 N9005 International version. If I want to make update to a CM11 4.4.4 rom can I go back to my 4.4.2 Rc Elite rom after? I don't know how to check if my bootloader is locked or not. Anyone?
Thank you!
You can go back and forth between TW 4.4.2 and AOSP 4.4.4. I have done it several times.

If you are with KK you have the good BL. No need to flash last one, it's useless; I'm still on NA6.....

If you have an application (APK on Android device or EXE on computer...), you cannot know if it is unlocked (full functional version) or locked (trial version), until you actually run it.
And the bootloader is also the same. You cannot know if it is locked or not, until you (or someone else) test it.
Isn't it?
As far as I know all N9005 bootloaders are unlocked.
Here is a thread on bootloader/modem update: [GUIDE]For Flashing Baseband/Modem/Bootloader N9005.
Have fun...

All you must do is flash the Verizon firmware, latest one available works. Then follow the root process for the Verizon SM-G930V. Your phone will be converted to a full SM-G930V. The root process works with a locked bootloader.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
Be sure to read the entire OP and user comments on impacts after root. One think i notice on the OP is that the eng bootloader used is compatible with any carrier variant. Maybe you can try without having to flash to a verizon phone. All done at your own risk.
No need to flash to VZ firmware. Just flash the eng boot.

It should not brick, but if you want to just convert to a full SM-G930V and have a bit of piece of mind in following the verizon s7 root thread then do that.
sm-g930vl straight talk unlock.?
I've a Sm-G930vl s7 straight talk, and need to unlock it, I've read in several places that you can install tmobile software and it will then work on GSM, then I've read you can eng boot it, but I'm unable to find the file to do so, could someone assist Me kindly Thank YOu. Will tip

The unlock procedure works with any V or U firmware. (You can flash U firmware on any V as well - I have the unique-to-VZW gold G930V; however, it's running the G930U Tracfone firmware in SIMless mode - specifically, the June 8th of this year version.) I went with the Tracfone U-ware (despite a VZW version of the same firmware being available) is because of the support for SIMless operation being better with the Tracfone U-ware as opposed to the VZW firmware; odd, but true. Also, the Tracfone U-ware is as close to vanilla as stock S7 gets - nowhere does the firmware say "Tracfone". (Rather surprisingly, it's a multi-CSC firmware - so, unless you have a preference, this rather plain U-ware should save you a lot of aggro.)
ho to unlock step by step please
I read your information.. would YOu be kind enough to inform me how to go about it, step by step so I can be sure I don't mess it up THanks in advance
could some one please walk me tru the process [email protected]

Just Go to settings enable developer options, Enable usb debugging , enable oem unlock <<<< remember to enable all these before going to unlock bootloader!
Just go to motorola bootloader site and follow the instructions!

Do you know what model your friend has? (xt1607- unlocked version or xt1609- Verizon model) If he has the xt1607 unlocked version then he may be doing something wrong in the process. If he has the xt1609 Verizon model then this method will not work on it because at the moment it is not rootable or bootloader unlockable.

Ig u are supposed to post this in the Q&A section for a solution.

Its for op3/t but use the correct files for op5
First download the stock recovery from here and flash it via fastboot.
Then download the image here, follow the instructions there to sideload the image and install it.
Finally once you're sure you have the stock OOS properly installed and the stock recovery installed. Relock the bootloader via:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
And you're done.
Thanks guys, helped me out!
One love

Good question, unfortunately I don't have the answer. Let's wait and see if someone does. You may want to change your title to include the model number of your phone.

After doing some searching on google I found this link
I can say from experience that dirty santa worked with the US996 US Cellular version I have, once I went back to the orginal rom with LGUP. as mentioned in the link above.
I have succesfully done the dirty santa to change my canadian stock firmware to US996 to allow it to install custom firmwares but i had issues with LineageOS and went back to US996. Now i want to try a more recent of lineageos but without the bootlocker unlocking site i see no way to install TWRP as the system recovery
