Has anyone manage to install an usb audio board or usb headphones to ubuntu on hd2? Is it possible? I'm trying to update alsa drivers but haven't managed to solve this problem.
Is there a known way?
Yes, worked fine with new kernel update and modules. It detected as soon as i inserted the sound card even through usb hub.
However audio does not work for phone calls still. Exploring out still...
can you please direct me on where or how these updates could be make. Even external audio would be ok.
I've tried downloading any update i could get, but don't know how to enable sound as my external usb audio adapters are not yet recognised.
Yes... external audio is fine. I tried with a Microsoft USB Headphones and also with cheap usb sound card both are working fine...
Search with the string zImage-htcleo-usbhost-latest and download both zImage-htcleo-usbhost-latest and modules-htcleo-usbhost-latest.tgz
Search [Discussion]Linux and Android on the HD2 and you will get information about updating the kernel.
Cheers!
hello, i did by the following guide
Installing the latest Linux kernel image (zImage)
1) Download the latest Linux kernel image (right click, save file as)
1a)for Google Android
1b) for classical GNU/Linux based distros (Ubuntu, openemebdded, meego, maemo etc)
Be aware these build links are dynamic and will be updated once the Linux kernel source code is updated. See here for static links
2) Rename the file to zImage
3) Overwrite your old zImage file with the newly obtained zImage file
Installing the matching Linux kernel modules (.ko files)
1) Download the latest Linux kernel modules to match your kernel image
1a) for classical GNU/Linux based distros (Ubuntu...)
1b) for Google Android
2) Install the modules...
2a) in GNU/Linux
As root run
cd /
tar xvf /path/to/modules-htcleo-usbhost-latest.tgz
downloaded both zImage-htcleo-usbhost-latestt and modules-htcleo-usbhost-latest.tgz then renamed first one like the older one in the linux folder, then use the tar command in root console to copy files from the archive to /lib folder (or wherever they were put). After a restart i get some fatal errors during text load up of linux, something involving mod probe complaining about not finding something in /lib folder, modules.dep if i remember, then at GUI load i get another error "cannot update ICEautorithy file. When i click ok, i get the desktop loaded but still no sound plus now, no wifi or some other drivers.
I guess i did it wrong

can you please tell me in detail what I have to do to get usb audio working
in sound settings it shows me that there is no hardware????
i didn't manage to solve that problem.
i still have problems replacing the old kernel and modules, after reboot the phone displays some errors involving modprobe then iceauthority files. If someone could upload a newer version using this kernel or a guide to enable sound, it would be excellent.
ok, managed to change to a new kernel and modules with no problems but still.. no audio. By default (no other modifications) i have no audio devices in the hardware tab of "audio" in preferences. When booting up i can see the usb-audio driver loading up and my audio card is recognised as "usb headphones" or something like that, but when the graphical part of ubuntu loads up i can't see nothing related to audio.
Tried with both cheap sound card and logitech usb headphones, same result, no sound.
USB audio works on my Allwinner A10 tablet witn "Unofficial CyanogenMod 9 for many AllWinner A10 tablets" firmware from Christian Troy
Hi,
Not sure if others have had this issue yet, but its been driving me nuts for three days now.
Basically, I done a fresh flash to latest JB 4.3.1. now I having issues with transfering files via wifi or USB.
Its like its not mounting correctly or updating folders correctly.
If I try and transfer via usb, it will transfer one or two files then give error saying device is not present or some other stupid error.
If I try the same via wifi, it gives IO errors.
If I do anything on the tablet itself, it works fine. I can download games and stuff from store and it all works perfect.
This is why I didn't notice it until I spent 6 hours resetting it up and came to installing my emulator files.
I have tried different drivers, but nothing helps. This happens on complete stock or custom kernel.
Never had these issues with 4.2.2.
The current version is 4.3. The latest small update of about 2Mb keeps the version also at 4.3, but the Build number changes to JWR66Y. I had previously updated to 4.3 and recently took the small update to JWR66Y and my usb connection still works fine. If I use the original usb cable and use a rear usb port on my desktop, I have no problems with transferring files. Using a 3rd party cable or front usb port can result in the kinds of errors you're getting. I don't know why the wifi transfers are not working though.

Yep, JWR66Y is the version.
Been using the same ports and cables before update all was fine. USB transfer has never been great, but to play up this bad is crazy.
I disconnected usb and rebooted, then used WiFi and it seems to be working ok.
So it has to be something to do with it mounting when USB is connected. If usb is connected and I do WiFi, then I get all types of odd errors.
In recovery, ADB pull works perfect. I can pull and push as much data as I want through USB.
Hi,
I have just picked up a Note 3 on Three UK.
Am I right in assuming that the wireless chipset BCM4339 which is the same as on the Nexus 5 is still not able to use bcmon mode to allow us to enable monitor mode?
Would a specific ROM be necessary to allow a TP-Link WN722n (RT2800usb) to work on OTG cable?
I have tried both bcmon on my note 3 and also my TP-Link via USB OTG cable and neither have had any results.
Thanks
Toby
I've installed USB Host Check to confirm that USB host support is enabled on my note 3.
(android.hardware.usb.host.xml OK)
(handheld_core_hardware.xml OK)
I then installed USB Host Controller.
Both devices recognised but obviously not working. (Atheros USB 2.0 WLAN for TP-WN772n) and (ASIX Elec Corp AX88x72A) for USB ethernet.
When I run USB Host Controller I get the following error message:
"s3c usb host driver not found".
Another member on XDA posted a link to the Halaszk Kernel on the N9000 apparantly having OTG USB host support for S3C

I'm still hitting a brick wall on this one search wise.
Would stil love to be able to use my WN722N on my Note 3.
Has anyone any experience in modifying the Kernel Module to allow the ath9k to work on Note 3?
Getting a wireless adapter to work on Ubuntu or any form of Linux can be difficult if the manufacturer doesn't provide direct driver support or at the very least a "Tar" which would allow an end user (with sufficient skill) to compile the drivers them self. My understanding of this is limited but from what I can remember Android is JavaScript VM running on a Linux kernel. So you need the Linux source code for the driver which usually comes in a "Tar". Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
Hello,
I have a oneplus2 - Lineage OS 15.1 Stable (Unofficial) . For the last several months I've noticed that my phone isn't detected AT ALL in any of th multiple modes I have tried. Listing a here :
Note that the phone charges fine.
This is also not about mounting, file storage access MTP/PTP modes etc
On Ubuntu Linux :
1. Does not show up at all on firing the lsusb command. (Nothing in the device listing)
2. No devices shown on the adb devices command.
3. Needless to say device is not detected in any file transfer modes
On Windows
Does not show up as unknown device etc in devices
In Lineage under Connected Devices the USB option shows as disabled. See screenshot.
USB debugging is on
USB modes have been set to MTP/PTP
The weird thing is that if I connect a OTG cable to the phone , and run lsusb on the terminal on the phone, 2 devices show up.
However if I connect the OTG to any device like a USB drive or a PC, it does not get detected on the phone terminal lsusb command as an additional device nor does it show up for mounting in TWRP or ES explorer on the phone.
So now the question is is my USB port fried ? If so how come the OTG gets detected on the phone ?
What's the best way to determine if it is a hardware issue ? If so where with the port or on the motherboard ? And before I shifted to this OS around from Lineage OS 14.1 I had taken USB based backups .. and I doubt this is a OS issue since it's also not detected in TWRP .
Any help would be appreciated !

Disable secure boot on your PC. Though if you have Linux I'm assuming it's already disabled but sometimes secure boot can cause certain hardware to not be detected. It should be in your UEFI settings or you can try booting a Linux live cd in legacy bios mode and see if it works
Reason for this answer: oneplus driver for op2 is outdated and oneplus never invested the money to properly sign it so certain UEFI firmwares might reject the connection
Try a different PC, I'm assuming you tried a different usb cable already. The oneplus cable in the box can go bad over time
Yes secure boot is disabled. In fact tried it also on an old Linux desktop that doesn't have secure boot ..and yes tried multiple cables that are working for other phones..

Then I'm out of ideas for now
My OTG was working fine on my device before. But from some time I am not able to mount OTG (I did change ROM's in between). OTG is not detected in TWRP (I'm using this TWRP ) nor it is detected inside the OS.
Has anyone faced this before? Can anyone help me with it.
PS. I have included the android.hardware.usb.host.xml file. My device didn't have the file tablet_core_hardware.xml or handheld_core_hardware.xml .
But I manually added those files. Still with no luck.
