Hello all,
As the title says, can I move (install) all applications into SD card after I root? Because before it doesn't work on most apps (i.e. FB or Chrome etc) thus leaving me with very few internal space which I can't even update the OS due to low space. If it can be done in any other way, please let me know.
Thanks all!

Hi Guys,
I wanted to start a thread to discuss the reason behind why some app widgets work great when the app is installed to the SD whereas others don't and if there's a fix for this bug. I have a rooted Nexus One fyi.
E.g. is the Nexus One Torch Light application which works great even after a reboot.
For other apps, once I reboot, the widgets all disappear. I am using the command lines from Android Terminal to force all apps to install to the SD card. Google really should have done a better implementation of the Apps2SD.
My pet peeve is that some apps are installing 16 MB (Flash and Google Earth) on internal memory even when you force them to install on the SD card. So I am hoping there is a way to force apps with widgets on the SD card and recover some more space in the internal memory.
Rant: Google you really ****ed up a great chance to redeem yourself. You really should have given the user an option to format and install EXT for total Apps2SD implementation - especially on new phones/ after a user-initiated wipe.
So, you have the final Release for Froyo then?
Also, you do know you can go into applications and move Google Earth to SD right ?
Yes - and moving Google Earth to SD still leaves 16MB on the internal memory down from 21MB. Likewise Adobe Flash also leaves an absurd amount in the internal memory. So Move2SD is almost moot.

As with most people, you are missing something here.
The APK is moved to the sd, true. The app data (in your examples they have large lib files) is not moved. Thus, with each installation /data will decrease in available size, especially for ones with large lib files - Earth, Flash, CoPilot, etc.
Also, I am pretty sure the widgets shouldn't be moved in the Froyo implementation of A2SD because of the simple fact that it is using a file stored on the Fat32 partition of the SD card which is NOT immediately initialized by the OS upon boot, it requires a FSCK (File System Check) before it mounts the SD. Thus, widgets most likely attempt to load before the APK is available to load them.
EDIT - Also, this is not development, it should be moved to General discussion.
How did u get the Final Release?
There's a reason the option to move the applications to the SD is left up to the developer.
Some things SHOULD NOT live on the sd card. (widgets for one).
Stop forcing the apps to the sd card. A good developer knows when to allow it and when not too.
You are not a developer so you shouldn't be making choices as to where the app should be installed.
(the sd card gets mounted after the home launcher is retrieved. If the app is on the sd card the home launcher doesn't find anything to load.)
After flashing a new rom I can't move apps to my sd card. I have about 11 gb free and it says I don't have enough space. Please help I've looked everywhere and tried all kinds of apps. This is really annoying since I can't even install a facebook or youtube app because I don't have the space. I tried to set the default app saving place to the SD card with the terminal emulator but that didn't help at all. my phone is a motorola defy.
Thank you in advance.
Hello,
I have a S4 I9505 with XXUBMGA rooted.
Usually I move to external SD card all the apps capable of being moved. Today I noticed that a lot of apps that weren't movable became movable to the SD card.
I didn't do any ROM update. The only two significant updates I can think of were the Xposed framework and Busybox.
Could this be caused by any other app (some were updated from the market but I thought this functionality was ROM based and not really app based)? I don't use any particular app to move the apps to SD, just the Applications screen from Android Definitions.
Did anyone notice anything similar?

this is just the way things are ; a lot of apps are not movable to sdcard using the move to sd card option. a better alternative is foldermount .
Hi guys. I was wondering if there's a way to install apps on SDCARD without root? I've already changed the default storage in settings but it doesn't seem to work.
mine it's working.
I think normal apps aren't normally allowed to use sdcard in Lollipop(or maybe from Kit Kat onward). They don't even have permission to see the sdcard...But why would you want that? Do you have that many apps installed that internal is full?
@andrei80 yup. Some of my games are 1gb above. @ItalianWolf when you install an app, does it directly go to the SDCARD? I wonder why that's not my case.
@rHycH
yes (memory usage tells )
Maybe sd card isn't fast enought? It's, at least, a class 10 card?
Some apps can't be installed on sd card and can't be moved to sd card from app manager.
@ItalianWolf Yes, I believe this is a class 10 card. If you don't mind can you give me an example of an app that you were able to install successfully on your SDCARD? Thanks!
Also, Link2SD/Mounts2SD/Apps2SD doesn't work for me. Anybody else got a different experience? Games are taking a lot of space on my internal SD. Specifically talking about linking/binding obb files.
@Rookert I believe link2sd requires root to work.
Yup, all I have read indicate that root is needed for achieving what you want
Hi Everyone,
I need your kind advice.
My Redmi Note 7 has 64GB internal storage. Half of it is in use/busy. Google storage is 54GB 22GB of it is in use/busy. Google doesn't allow to update apps saying that there's not enough space... My phone's performance can't be optimized better than 97%.
I bought an SD card storage of 256GB. Then I am disappointed. Obviously not the photos, videos, and music of 5GB the problem is. I thought that I could transfer apps to SD, but I was wrong. I don't know what to do now. Should I root my phone I could get huge storage. Problem is that banking apps cannot be used on rooted phones. I can get a great phone, but I guess no more system security patches and can't use banking app.
What the *** should I do? And how?
Actually, I certainly have to do something, because my phone freezes very often.
I need your advice, please.
Thanks.
just backup everything online and reset it first

Thanks, but the only one cell I have rooted was a KitKat 4.4.2 Navon Mizu D402. It was over 3 years.
I don't know what back up exactly means -- is it possible to use the phone as not rooted one day?
When the phone is rooted is there an app that is able to hide root from banking apps?
Link2SD and there were a lot of apps that were necessary to use SD card as internal storage.
Actually, I haven't got a clue how to root the phone, which app works on mine and what about system security patches.
So, I'm a totally novice now.
Hello you can move apps to sd card by formatting your sd card as internal storage (check youtube) but I wont recommend bcz sd card are slow than internal storage and can make your apps perform slow. If u want to root than magisk already have a way to make banking apps work using magisk hide. U just need a bit of research to understand this things. Things in rooting changed a lot after kitkat and its much better now.

Just keep apps on internal and media on external, how u got your 64gb filled with only apps? Banking apps can be easily used after rooting. System security patches are faster with custom roms than miui.
