I have done searching with my crappy searching skills and cannot find anything that has helped yet so here is my problem.
I have my buddy's phone that was rooted but never given cwm and so is running the stock rom. The phone itself will not go into debug mode when I plug it into a computer. I have reset the phone through recovery and in the os but neither have fixed the problem. Is there an update zip i can flash to fix this? Or what do I do?
I'm running Win 7 32 and have the samsung drivers installed.
Figured it out, the phone has a bad connector.
Hi guys,
I have a massive problem.
I recently updated to 4.3 rooted etc, after a few days of not using my nexus 7 on the pc I wanted to flash a new rom.
Now my N7 is only shown as an "Unknown Device" in my Device Manager.
I tried to deinstall Drivers, install, everything, I tried every possibilty in Wug's toolkit, nothing worked. I also tried it on another Notebook where i have never connected any mobile device, same message and i'm not able to install the drivers.
I also tried several ports and cables(the original one included)
Here is the message:http://i.imgur.com/tgxOeZQ.jpg
Translation: The optimal driver software for your device is already installed.
After this I flashed back to 4.2.2 (downloaded the rom on my N7) while performing a normal factory reset, I can't wipe everything because then I am not able to flash anything.
So after flashing to 4.2.2 my N7 was shown as a portable device in my device-manager. I then turned on USB-Debugging to stock+unroot, it was then shown again as a Unknown device, in both modes, USB-Debugging turned Off and On.
So now my question, is there a solution to this? I searched for possibilites to get back to stock without USB but most of them were a bit sketchy or had dead links. Please help me (sorry for my bad english)
Edit:
I just the cable of my old Motorola Defy, and it randomly connects and disconnects(still shown as unknown), so basically I think it is possible that my USB plug is broken(it takes about 6 hours to load the battery which I think might be as well a reason for a broken USB plug).
But to send it back to Google I need to Stock Unroot first so here my problem is again!
greetings
Hello guys,
At first, I know that the problem of stuck boot animation is common and there are already a lot of topics about it, but here I have some particularities that create a really bigger problem.
The problem started when my Nexus 4 stopped to connect to any pc, I tried more than 5 computers, diferent drivers, 3 cables, changed my rom, tried to connect in recovery, fastboot and anything find my phone, it just charges...
Then I decided to buy this USB port replacement:
http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/7111654281.html?orderId=71054284143593
After the replace, the phone won't turn on anymore, stay always on the boot animation of chroma rom, I tried to wipe cache and data, restore previous backup, factory reset and reinstall the rom, put back the old USB port, nothing worked.
The possible good point is that, with the new USB port, my computer detect a device when I plug the phone in bootloader mode (this wasn't happening with the old USB port), but I canĀ“t get in ADB mode.
Help me please guys!
Help me please guys...
Can it be a problem at the logic board?
Hey!
New to XDA but a complete fan of the help and guides you guys provide.
So, I acquired an i9060 smartphone and successfully installed CM 11 without the help of my laptop since the usb cable through Odin never worked for me (driver issues on Win10?).
Unfortunately, my phone entered an Android boot loop. And now with a lot of attempt I can't even enter CWM or even charge my smart phone, as it always reboots while trying to charge the battery (it's always drained) or gets stuck during logo before accessing CWM.
I tried to install Samsung drivers, Kies, ABD, Odin to restore the firmware but... nothing seems to recognise this Samsung device. Does anyone had the same problems I'm having now? Any suggestions?
You might try another USB cable, USB port, or even another computer. Without Odin, you're not going to be able to fix this since recovery is no longer available.

Tried on 3 laptops but the problem persists. Never thought of changing my usb cable though. I'll give it a shot
Btw, is there anyway to use an external SD card to force a factory reset?

Have you considered the possibility that your power button is sticking? Not the part that you touch but the hardware switch behind it?
Do you have USB debugging enabled?
Are you using the stock cable or at least a USB cable with the same number of pins/pinouts?
Back in 2014 my device stopped charging with USB. I just happened to find it the other day and put it on a wireless charger and lo and behold my Nexus is alive again. Back then I used to do a lot of flashing ROMs but I'm very rusty now. It has a custom rom called Vanir on it and is rooted and has twrp. If I just download a custom rom to the device will I be able to go into recovery and install it? My laptop just died on me and I can't use it to flash the ROM. I just want to try something different for fun.
Thanks!
Edit: the USB won't work even if my laptop hadn't died.
Download custom recovery to internal memory. Make sure it's not saved in to system directory, but internal sdcard directory. Boot in to recovery mode, wipe cache, then chose install and find your custom ROM. Press install. Make sure custom ROM is definitely made for your device and was confirmed to work without any issues. USB stops working for few reasons. First and easiest to fix is damaged USB socket. You can replace it by buying a new or second hand one. Second reason is short on OTG activation pin. If its's shorted to GND, USB charging will not work and no communication with computer possible. There is a lot of possibilities where this short could have happened. On my 3G device this happened under main processor, and the only way I managed to revive it was injecting 1V to OTG activation pin, which somehow made short disappear.
