Hello everybody, I have my s5 for now 2 months and since the beginning I have notification issues like in what's app... Sometimes I getting messages but I have to open the app to get the notification and the message or in Snapchat I don't get any notif when I get a snap and often my Instagram app stuck and I have to close the app and open it to update my feed news.
I have stock rom and it's just rooted, xposed framework are install that's it. And thanks to all for the help

You didn't give nearly enough details to begin troubleshooting in any methodical fashion. But a reasonable guess would be that your push notification service is not working. So see if that installed and enabled as it is the most likely cause of your issue.
Alternately, you may have an xposed setting or module blocking push e.g. xprivacy or a similar app. Or perhaps your apps aren't configured to use push, in which case it would be normal for them to only update when you open the app.

Ohh Ok what Infos you want and do you mean Samsung Push service? And all my apps a set to use push notifications sometimes it's work like Charme but often is didn't notify me

Your phone has to have some type of service (BroadcastReceiver) that listens for incoming notifications. Without that your applications could only check for notifications when you open the app.
This is referred to as a push service. The default android push service, I believe is Google cloud messaging (Google Play services). An earlier iteration was called C2DM. There is also a Samsung version for Chaton, et cetera.
So the suggestion was to look into your push configuration. If you're not sure how to check if the service is running, then search the forum for more information about push services.

That is a pretty worrisome bug. Not just it's a security issue, but also probably there will be an OTA update soon, which might ruin all the hard work people have done recently to get root!
I wonder why there doesn't seem to be an update for Hangouts to fix this? Is that not where the actual bug is?
I was just surprised there are not more people talking about it.

From what I have read, you can avoid the problem by disabling automatic download of multimedia content. Uncheck "Auto-retrieve MMS" in settings if you are using hangouts for text messages. The verizon messaging app has a similar option. If you get an MMS message from an unfamiliar source, delete it without opening.
I heard it on npr couple days ago. Problem in using hangouts as your default sms mms is that it preproccess video sent via mms thus auto infecting. Atleast with default messaging app you have to actually open the message.

I'm using the stock LG Messaging app (yellow icon). But for peace of mind, if nothing else, I set it to not auto-retrieve multimedia messages. At least if I get one from an unknown source, it would give me a way to delete the message without a risk of downloading it.
For all of Android's advantages over iOS (and I feel it's a better system, at least for what I want from a device), the fragmentation and multiple layers between a possible Google patch, and it getting to consumers (Google->manufacturers->carriers, for a lot of us) definitely adds to the challenge of fixing this quickly.

Does anyone have any insight for me? I use an android wear smart watch and I want to use the default email and sms programs on the S7e. The problem is that if I get a text message or email through those default programs and then I swipe it left (which dismisses it) the phone itself still retains the notification and acts like I have not read it.
If I use gmail or inbox and also google's s no issue. The problem is that to take advantage of the edge functionality I need to use the default apps.
can anyone provide a way to make it so my android watch can dismiss notifications on my phone?
I'm curious about this as well. Getting tired of having to manually clear the notification.

Within the android wear app itself I decided to disable phone notifications when connected to my watch... that is a temp fix I guess but I think there has to be a better way
MY girlfriend bought this phone a month ago.
There were problems from the start - sometimes, but rarely, she didnt receive notifications from both IM's she is using, Viber and Whatsapp. Only when she enters the app, she sees that there are actually new messages - I checked Emotion UI settings for Battery manager and both apps are protected from the start (should work in the background). It wasnt such a big deal until today when she noticed that not a single message (7 viber and 2 whatsapp messages) didnt "go through" and only when the app is opened, she sees the message received. On top of that, problem got even bigger in the evening - in the middle of chat session, she doesnt even receive messages, until certain delay. I checked, it was not mobile data/wifi issue as everything else was working fine, one phone next to another, I send her a message and her's phone doesnt receive, while her phone is pretty much able to run a 1080p video from YT
Any solution to this .. ? she needs Viber very much as her work group from her job uses Viber extensively and she cant afford to miss new messages
tried: restarting, checking for EUI blocking apps, checked data/wifi for always ON on sleep, checked everything there is ..

Have u allowed notifications? Go to settings/apps and find whatsapp there.Tap on Notifications and Allow Notifications.
I have this same problem with others apps I tried ever everything, I think it's problem with Huawei optimizations (same says others, maybe this will be fixed in Android N).
i had a similar problem with my other apps...i just made them system apps... you need root for it, but no problems since
I Dont have any such issue.I Have tried sending Whatsapp message on my phone from another phone and it gave me notification instantly.
I'm using Viber, Telegram and whatsapp on this phone and I don't have such issues.... I'm not using any of the battery management or optimization apps by the way.

I have the same problem and still found no solution... In WhatsApp, you can see the when it goes off on your mobile - just open the desktop WhatsApp version on your PC and wait until a message saying something like "your mobile is not connected" appears.

try to set in phone manager all apps in protected apps section and keep the phone in performance power plan not smart...

i have the similair problem
i add the apps to protected apps but nothing changes, still no notifications
any new solutions, maybe?
What battery profile are you using? It looks like Smart is affected by this problem, while Performance is not. I guess it somehow breaks the GCM service used to deliver push notifications for those apps.

Guys found a solution for the problem but need somebody to test to confirm. I connect VPN with opera max or other VPN app and then i get notifications as normal with mobile data. Anybody who can try and see if it works for them too?
I've had the same issue with mine since I got it. In my case I'm not using WhatsApp but Ebay and Amazon Seller apps. So that means that the problem is the phone, not something specific to any app. I often get a backlog of notifications when I unlock it, all at once.
I've tried every bit of advice offered in this thread and elsewhere. I'm now trying the Opera Max app - it could well be a useful work-around. I suppose if something changes the way it communicates by adding a proxy then it may be enough to bypass whatever thing is causing the problem, hopefully just until Huawei get round to actually fixing this widespread problem.

Regarding push notifications issue i have some news.
- on P9 Lite, VNS-L21, new stock with B114 firmware, whatsapp, skype, gmail - works fine on both profiles (smart and performance)
- after a few days i make update from B114 to B120, B131 and B151 firmware and that issue appear only at whatsapp (skype and gmail work fine)
- first workaround was to maintain active whatapp application when device enter in sleep, simply start application and notifications appears.
- second workaround is to revert firmware to B114 version on wich my device work fine with whatsapp.
- final workaround is in Huawei yard....
PS: if whatsapp is closed notifications appear when i open application, not when i wake up device...
My firmware is VNS-L31C432B130 which I installed manually, using the procedure on this forum. I did this to enable the second SIM, as for some stupid reason they disable this feature on UK phones, and Carphone Warehouse don't tell you about it when you order one.
It looks like it's pretty widespread though - there seem to be lots of reports on the web, so I don't think I've caused this problem.
I got a notification from the eBay App over 2 hours late this morning, after I installed Opera Max the other day. It's possible that this was an error at ebay's end though - their IT systems can be quite random sometimes anyway, so I wouldn't take this as evidence that Opera Max doesn't fix the problem! There are far too many variables in the chain to conclude anything really.
However, I've just manually updated the firmware from VNS-L31C432B130 to VNS-L31C432B151. I've checked and all my app and performance power settings are still set OK.
If my phone now starts working properly then I won't know whether Opera Max or the firmware update fixed it. If so then I'll try uninstalling Opera Max so I can report back here on it.
Update: after a few reinstall of B122, B131 and B151 firmware, notifications of whatsapp works again properly, but now i have problem of syncing yahoo mail account (sync error)....

Yeah, the Verizon face sucks, not much customization but you should be able do it in the android wear app on the phone, works for me. Just remove the message app tab and re add it ( first install the android messanger)
Use different face, watchmaker is great
Hi, I was able to change faces and such, but still unable to send messages with the android app and message+ is disabled. Also my microphone seems to not work, ok google doesn't work and a voice call the other person could not hear me.

I struggled with it for a bit as well. so what i had to do was do a factory reset (after updating wear 2.0). then somehow, i paired it to my phone, but skipped the rest of the initial setup stuff it wants you to do like giving it your phone number and setting up vzw message. first thing i did was disable all of the system apps like "phone" and "vzw messages" and/or wear24 app. Never having opened vzw messages, i downloaded google messages from play store. It works great now. google now works perfectly. i don't try to make phone calls off of it so can't help you with that part. but make sure you turn the cellular radio off after every reboot (just to save battery).
this is an amazing whatch for someone like me who does not *want* to have an lte watch. I just wanted a bluetooth only watch with a high res screen, big battery, modern wear processor for $80 shipped. - nfc and heartrate and swappable bands would be nice, but oh well. It gives me all of my notifications so i don't have to take out a phone during meetings and it's much snappier than my urbane was. - nfc, heartrate, and swappable bands would be nice, but oh well.
I've disabled msg+ and installed android messenger.
I can receive texts, but the only way I can send a text is via google assistant because even though the app is installed, the icon wont show in the app drawer.
But after I go through the voice process (send txt to blah blah blah), it errors out on sending it.
I've granted all permissions

I agree with mistermojorizin - for the price it is now if is a good watch. My issues is this:
I want to use LTE and have it working fine. I can send and response to messages from Message+ (ugh), but when I use google assistant to send a message - which I have done often with other watches - I says sending with watch and hangs on a spinning wheel.
Anyone else see this and have a suggestion? If I could change the app that Assistant uses to send the message to Message+ that might solve the issue, but I haven't see how to do that.

If you try and send text message but it says send from watch and just sits there spinning, you need to disable VZW from sim info. That will also help battery life too. Only thing not working on my watch is the mic in a call. I'm using it with BT/WiFi only with my P2XL on T-Mobile.
I have installed Android Messenger and it works for me with the voice to text, I like that one a lot.
The watch in general is great, I wish that the speaker was louder (as I thought that it will be) and the NFC to be working. I paid $94 CAD for it, you can't even get a used Moto360 first gen in good condition for this price, never mind a high end device.
The band could be replaced, if you don't have Verizon for a provider why would anyone care for the antenna anyway? I have a Moto360 first gen and this is better with the Android Wear 2.0 and bigger battery, after 11 hours of moderate usage I am at 51% of battery remainig which is pretty decent.

Thanks for the siminfo trick. I think that might have done the job for getting voice assistant to use android messages instead of Verizon messages+. Before that, I could respond to text messages but just couldn't initiate a message using voice.
I also disabled the Verizon apps where I could. And I "deleted" Verizon as a carrier altogether (in the siminfo area). The other things I did to get going (and not wait for the system/google updates) was to sideload android wear 2.8, google play services, and finally the google app using ADB on my iMac. It needed all three it appeared.
Here's the command for ADB:
adb connect [IP of your watchort] (I didn't use a port)
adb install -r [app.apk]
Liking the wear24 quite a bit so far as compared to my old Moto 360 1st gen which is still going strong after a battery replacement. Kind of wish the watch diameter was as wide as the Moto 360. I'll do a video comparison of the two soon (makethistechwork.com).

Thank you for the info! I'm using this watch with a Pixel XL and Tmobile just like you. However, even after disable version from the sim info, it still doesn't work. I have the same issue as before where it says that could not connect to a phone. I've included some screenshots showing my sim-info to illustrate what I'm talking about. Kindly suggest anything else that I can do since I've tried everything including factory resets.Thanks!
After updating the wear app and android messages, I can see previews of all my text threads, but when I tap the threads, messages crashes. Has anyone else seen this with all the recent updates?
EDIT: After futzing with permissions for a few seemingly related apps, Messages no longer crashes on me. I could swear I had already tried all of the changes I made this last round, but maybe I missed one every other time. If anyone else runs into this, I'll be happy to share permission settings to see if it helps.

Sure. First, I'll mention that I have removed all of the VZ carrier information, as suggested in this thread, as I don't use nor plan to use VZ, so that may or may not have anything to do with it.
I also disabled Message+, the default text app, in system app settings. I did not touch permissions there.
On to permissions... I pretty much went with all or nothing, looking through system apps and messing with anything that might have to do with messaging...
Android Messages: All on
Phone: All on
Wear OS: All on except storage
As I said, I had reset the phone a few times, and the last time, directly off of reset, my order was: update Google and WearOS system apps, disable Message+, install Android Messages, change permissions, open Android Messages. I didn't try to open Messages until after checking permissions.
