I'm having the following problems with my TAB and would like to know it's fixable. I treid almost everything to fix it without success. I'm hoping someone can help me. Anyone have these problems before?
1. Doesn't charge normally. It would charge but charge really slow like it's connected via us. It shows an x next to the lightening icon when I charge it using the original charger and cable.
2. I cannot go into recovery mode. I get the black screen with the white line. There's also no boot animation when it boots up.
3. The camera doesn't work. I get a fail message when I open it.
4. My computer doesn't detect it in download mode, kies or mass storage. My computer detect my samsung galaxy s i9000 without any problems so I know it's not the computer. I cannot change the firmware because my computer doesnt detect it.
5. I dont have the receipt to do a warranty repair. What are my other option?
AT&T SGH-i987
Firmware 2.2
Baseband P1000XXJHA
Kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #19
Build XXJMA
Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!
Did you register your Tab with Samsung?
If so, they have a record of your purchase and will be able to provide support.
If not, then try this which I got from their online chat: Hope it helps.
"Kyle: To recover the device via the hardware keys, do the following:
Kyle: 1. Power off the handset.
Kyle: 2. Hold the Vol Down Key + Vol Up Key + Power Key for 15 seconds then release.
Kyle: 3.When the recovery screen comes up, use the volume up key and volume down key to navigate through the selections and the power key to select item.
Kyle: 4. Select Delete all user data to recover the device. To confirm, scroll down and select Yes – delete all user data. The phone reboots and again displays the recovery screen.
Kyle: 5. Select Reboot system to restart the handset again. "
Thanks but I cannot get to that recovery screen like I said above. All I get is a black screen with a white line when I try to go into recovery mode. I also purchase this used with no receipt.
U just need to flash a working rom. Try roto jm... in the dev forum
Your tab was modified. I wont blame Samsung if they wont fix it for u

How do i flash to a different rom if a computer wont detect it?
Do you have the latest kies installed? Is USB Debug on? If it still doesn't detect, have you tried android-sdk or heimdall. Each comes with usb driver. I find it hard to believe your PC doesn't detect the tab. I never heard such thing before unless you're the real first victim then...yeah, try to call Samsung and pay a fee.
Yes, I tried to use android-sdk and heimdall but they don't detect my TAB for me to do anything. I also installed the newest KIES software. I also don't understand why it doesn't detect it in download mode. This is the first time I encounter this problem. I flashed my Galaxy S I9000 phones many times without a problem. Is the combination of the firmware and kernal I have that is causing my computer not to detect the TAB?
Is there a way to root my TAB via an APK? I tried Z4Root but it's not working. It tries to acquirer shell and closes after a few vibrate. yes, debugging mode is on.

You've followed Heimdall's README and installed the included driver? Make sure you follow the instructions exactly.
If you have done that and your device still isn't recognised consider trying a another cable, USB port or entirely different PC.

Thanks for your advice but I already tried above. I didn't have any problems/trouble connecting my Verizon Tab and Galaxy S phone to the computers to change the roms. There is most likely something wrong with the Tab. I gave up and contacted Samsung yesterday. I sent the Tab to them yesterday and hopefully they won't charge me to fix it.
Hello, I so hope someone can help. I just updated my galaxy tab 2 7 p113 to Android 4.0.4 UEBLH2. That was done automatically from samsung. I wanted to then install the newest update to 4.1.1 jellybean. So I downloaded it from this link. http://www.trickytweaks.com/update-...ecli4-4-1-1-jelly-bean-ota-test-firmware.html. I put the official Android 4.1.1 UEBLH2 Firmware on my sdcard then held down my power and up volume and installed it. HOWEVER, it never finished installing. Went all the way to the end. Now I HAVE NO USB CONNECTION and NO BOOT UP. Just black Since I dont have usb connection I cant us oden. CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP? I still can put files on my micro disk card and then put sd disk in my tab and use the power button up arrow to install something but I tried installing clockwork mod but that did not work. Iam out of ideas. P.S. My tab IS NOT ROOTED. I tried updating back to and original rom 4.04 I download but that did work. Thank you.
I think you need to enter the download mode volume down+power or recovery mode volume up+power to be able to restore the tab
Try multiple times close the tab even with long pressing power then try the button combinations (press both for multiple seconds) and release to see if you could enter any mode
If you reached download mode try flashing stock firmware for your tab specific model 3113 or 3110 or 3100 via odin (install kies and reboot before)
If you reached recovery (stock) then connect with kies and choose recover firmware from kies options (near the word file in top) you should have active internet connection
You could try charging tab even for some hours before trying button cobinations
If not try to return as not rooted so warranty is goood

Yup, this should get you going again. If you can get into download mode, you should be okay. That's what Odin needs.
Download mode is volume down plus power. Then volume up
Recovery mode is volume up plus power.
I want to thank both the posters on trying to help me. I did hold down the power and download button and it went in to the download mode. HOWEVER, since I can not access usb it did not do anything. Just kept saying downloading. As I mentioned in my first post I CAN ACCESS MY SD DISK FILES by doing the power up button thing. Thats the only way I can get files on. But the DOWNLOADING down arrow just does not do anything. hmmmmmmm will keep plugging away.
I can not understand how you can not access usb, is it a lacking driver so download kies and reboot and try connect again ,also try a different usb ports (esp the rear of case) of your computer
Was usb working before the problem?
do you have cwm or stock recovery?
If cwm so download cm10 or cm9 from www.teamhacksung.org and put in usb card and flash but do a cash delete and dalvik delete afterwards not for boot loop
If stock so try stock firmware from www.samfirmware.com (register their first) and put in sd card and try to flash

I think you're misunderstanding download mode. When you get the device in download mode, connect it then to the computer, with Odin open. The only reason Odin wouldn't recognize it would be a driver issue. In that case, do as the previous poster stated. When you're in download mode, you're strictly flashing through Odin. You aren't going to see the device as a storage device on the computer. The only way your computer can interact with it at this point is Odin. Via Odin, flash the proper p3113 firmware file from sammobile/samfirmware (will be a large 600mb+ file). Once that's done, you should then be back to completely stock and healthy recovery and ROM. Reboot tab and see what happens. If it boots, and you still want to update, then make sure you get the correct ota for the base file you just flashed (that is, if you're trying to upgrade to say Jellybean). If you need more help always ask, but you should be fine. If I lived nearby I'd do it for you.
All I can say is unbelievable help here! Thank you. I am spending hours on this (plus a fortune on this new Tab 2 7). After studying up I do now understand how Odin works and how grabbing the correct firmware will do the job. HOWEVER (maybe others come across this huge roadblock) nothing can be done with out usb interaction. I DID DOWNLOAD KIES and installed it. But no matter what I do can not get any storage device listed or anything going on between tab and computer. Only thing my Tab does is when I plug it in to the computer via usb is go in to charging mode with the charging icon showing. Loading Odin does not show any connection. I have tried different computer USB plugins, 3 different computers (all I have loaded Kies on). Iam sooooooo close. If only while in the POWER BUTTON DOWN ARROW DOWNLOAD MODE and running ODIN on my computer there would be a connection I would be home free and able to flash firmware.

Once you are in download mode, connect your tab to the computer with the usb connection.....you should see a com xx number pop up in Odin in yellow reporting your device is connected thru a communication port. From there you will be able to choose the file you want as a PDA uncheck everything else...reboot...reset timer....whatever. Just make sure you have the correct firmware. There is a Odin flashback to Stock rom in the development section. Make sure it's for your device. Once you start Odin, should take about 4 mins...disconnect and hold the power button down to reboot. That's it....
Hello Everyone Again, I just want to say thank you for all of you who took the time to help. I hopefully will become knowledgeable enough to help people in the forums as I gain knowledge. I finally did find the solution. I did everything that was mentioned. And no matter what what I did with KIES drivers Samsung usb drivers, etc could not get a connection so I could us Odin to keep me back to the orgiginal 800 mb 4.04 original file. My solution was (as mentioned) I deleted all my windows drivers dealing with usb, kies, etc. Then rebooted. I notice even though I did not have a direct usb connection showing up now Odin was showing a connection! So using Odin I got to restore everything and now back to like new. Lesson learned. Hope this helps others that almost fatally brick their tablets. Thanks again for all our help

Is there any way to save my tablet if there is NO firmware out?
Im talking about the SCH I705, I followed the root guide, and it got ****ed up.
Unable to boot into recovery (it goes to Odin "could not do normal boot.")
Tablet seems unresponsive sometimes (to power on/off)
Will boot cycle occasionally
???????????????????

You have to reflash your tablet using ODIN. It's not that hard. Just follow the second method here (you don't need to download android SDK)
copy this in your navigator bar : rootzwiki . com/topic/37272-verizonsch-i705-root-for-all-current-firmware/ ( delete space around the dot)
Plus, your tab will be rooted.
You're welcome.
P.S : This limitation of URL is annoying as hell.
Hello everybody !
I 've spend a long time on this forum and i've found a lot of interesting and useful tips.
I'm in a bad situation today and I can not find a solution so i thank you for the time spent reading this.
Yesterday i've seen an icon on my desktop and i couldn't remember what application it is. I clicked and it was the beginning of an endless nightmare... A huge lag began by making the phone unusable and apps was installing one after one...
When it has calmed down a bit, i tried to install cleaning softwares but i couldn't do anything so I tried to do a factory reset. After that... the malware was still here... So i've decided to clean all by installing a new ROM.
This is a Jiayu S3 4G 5.5 Inch MT6752 Octa Core RAM 3GB 1080P Screen Dual SIM 4G LTE Mobile Phone (invoice description) so i wanted to try the CM12.1 for Jiayu S3 (found on needrom).
My phone was Rooted and TWRP was installed so i've copied the ROM files on a SD card, rebooted in recovery mode, wiped cache, data, dalvic and system and tried to install the new ROM. it was abnormally rapid and now the phone bootloops.
The only thing i can do is activate Fastboot (if i choose normal boot or recovery it continues to bootloop).
I've tried to flash recovery with :
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
but i get an error message : FAILED (remote : partition 'recovery' not support flash).
Does anyone has ever been in this situation and solved it ?
Thanks for your help !
Hello,
I got exactly the same problem. Did you find a solution?
My phone is in a bootloop, I can only access to the fastboot mode. (fastboot devices show my device).
In this mode, I can't flash my recovery.img:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img --> partition 'recovery' not support flash.
I can't see my device with the command adb devices (adb devices doesn't show my device, I think because USB debugging is off, but i can't switch it on)
Did someone find a solution ?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks !
That's the behavior of a wrong preloader that was flashed / malware that affected preloader.
Grab a full spftools ROM set, and flash the entire ROM using " upgrade mode"
Cheers
PS: on s3 you need to have both volume buttons pressed, then you can press download on the spft.
PPS: this will destroy all of your data, so back it up first ..
Thanks for your answer.
So, I downloaded latest version of Flash_Tools, but i can't find any complete set for flashing... only recovery.img (I'm searching on needrom.com). Do you have a place to find these?
>PS: on s3 you need to have both volume buttons pressed, then you can press download on the spft.
I think i got another problem: with Flash_Tools, I'm unable to flash anything to my device... There is a special mode to launch, as you explained, but it seems I can't access it... By pressing both up and down volume button, the phone should boot on a special mode ? How can I know if the phone is booted in this mode ? The USB cable must be plugged before/after booting the phone in this mode ?

There is no special mode, please serach the forum on how to use sptools, i am sure you will find plenty of them.
Sorry for late answer !
Thanks for this advice, i will try as soon as possible and post if it's ok or not.
Hello everybody !
Ok, I got it !
My problem came from the drivers... But not the ADB drivers, the preloader drivers.
In the Windows device manager, when I plugged my phone (previously swithced off), I got a "MT65xx Preloader" device with a warning. Be careful, this item stay 2 or 3 seconds before disappearing ! This driver wasn't installed correctly, that's why Flash Tools didn't worked for me (it didn't see my phone) !
So, I got the driver on the web, by typing "MT65xx Preloader driver", I got the drivers that I installed. This guide gave me the files and a method to install them:
http: //laurentiumihet.ro/sp-flash-tool-mediatek-mt65xx-drivers-download-and-installation-guide-including-bricked-devices/ (can't post links, delete space after http: )
To install the driver, you can set up manually by right clicking on the "MT65xx Preloader" > "Update drivers". Then, browse to the drivers you previously downloaded (a folder containing .inf and .sys files). Windows should detect the driver and install it.
To check if the preloader driver is correctly installed, power off your phone and unplug it, them plug it. Instead of the previous "MT65xx Preloader" entry, you should now see a "MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port" under "Ports (COM & LPT)" (same as before, this item is displayed only 2-3 seconds...).
Now that the preloader driver is correctly installed, Flash Tools works for me. I successfully flashed a new rom I got from needrom.com (a full set, as suggested by superdragonpt), and my phone boots now =)
Thanks all for your answers ! Xehon, hope it will works for you !
Thanks mick605 !
I travel for work so i can't try all the advices on this forum atm.
I'll check this when i get back home and i'll tell you if it's ok
Thanks again !

First of all hi I'm new in this thread,
I have installed everything correctly but I still have only 3 seconds before my phone showes the the charging icon and disconnects.
Can anybody please help me? I actually have been stuck with this problem for months now and all these months I have been using the samsung galaxy s advance (launched in 2011) on marshmallow.
Hi,
It looks my tablet got hardbricked. Apparently, it looks like it was turned off completely automatically, when in sleep mode. When it's powered off now - pressing power button for a while makes nothing. When connected to charger - white LED flash is blinking only and when trying to power on, and there is no "Lenovo" logo at all. I've tried some of "power cycle" tutorials - but no luck. Once, when using power button, tablet was vibrating crazily and screen blinked, but it was shut down after moment.
Sorry, if there is existing similar thread - this tablet is not very popular. If there is any "magic trick" to make it work, I'll be grateful, if now - probably I'll need to flash new firmware. Currently, I'm discharging it completely.
Best regards.

Are you still bricked? There is the firmware flashing method using SP Flash Tool which restores both the 850F & 850M to full factory condition. Let me know if you need the method and I'll get you links to the guides here on XDA.

I've had two 850F devices hard bricked and was able to recover using SP Flash Tool and a stock firmware package. I'll get you the method posted here. But, out of curiosity, how did you hard brick yours?
(The 850F is pretty much an 850M without SIM/data connectivity support. They also have slightly different chipsets, but many of the specs are very similar. So, I know the method will work on both variants of the Tab3 8.

Hey, thanks for you reply! As I'm not owner of the tablet, it's hard to say how it was bricked. It was on stock firmware, it was not rooted and TWRP was not installed. I've helped to configure this tablet, tablet was turned off everyday at 11PM automatically, and powered on manually, by device owner. She said sometimes instead of powering on to Android, it was booting into FASTBOOT mode (green android image). Once, it just failed to boot, without any reaction. I've tried to recover it using Windows machine, when plugging it into computer (no matter, with, or without Vol+ pressed) it was recognized as Unknown device (instead of Qualcomm, or something). I've tried many drivers - but with no luck, device was not recognized. Also, I've tried 2 machines with Win7 & Windows XP. I've managed to reboot device using power key long pressed, but starting from this point device was not recognized at all... When plugged into USB, nothing was happening. Service guy said he was able to make his computer recognize device using some technical cable plugged directly with motherboard, but all methods to flash firmware failed. He said probably EEPROM chip is broken completely and replacing this part is half of device cost. Thing is, this tablet was bought from China - so no guarantee at all. Well, probably she need to buy next tablet from local electronic store...

Yeah, the service guy is full of it without any doubt. Using a modded fastboot cable, like he was likely referring to, will not only fail to push firmware to the eMMC, but will very likely damage or corrupt the partition index. I can't promise my method will work, but I can say with some certainty that it will. Ok, first things firstt: install the latest SP Flash Tool on your Windows PC or laptop. Also, you will need to install the latest vCOM drivers (for the Mediatek chipset). Do you know how to do this or do you need links? I can post a link for unbricking the 850F, which has been reported to work on 850M, but the thread is a bit erratic and non-concise. It will be much easier if you and I do this step by step. Also, you will need a stock firmware package for your 850M (build version is not relevant). Do you have one or do you need a link?
In a nutshell, this method will do an emergency recovery by directly pushing a stock firmware package to the device's eMMC flash memory. Although your PC is not currently recognizing your device, the vCOM drivers/SP Flash Tool, & your volume down button, will force recognition of the Mediatek chipset. Again, I cannot promise this will be successful, but I can say I've not yet seen a single hard bricked Tab 3 that could not be recovered from a hard brick this way.
Step 1 -- install the latest vCom drivers on your Windows (7, 8.1, or 10) PC/laptop. Here is an excellent XDA tutorial that provides sources and detailed instructions. https://forum-xda--developers-com.c...-10-mtk-vcom-usb-drivers-32-64-t3267033/page1 Sorry for the lengthy url.
Step 2 -- install the latest SP Flash Tool on your PC or laptop. Go to this website for download sources; https://spflashtool.com/
Step 3 -- download a stock firmware package for your TB3-850M. This is a link for a solid firmware package, confirmed to work (take note that build version isn't a factor. The SP Flash Tool will push a downgrade, upgrade, or collateral installation {same build version}): https://cloud.mail.ru/public/LHhe/NkpAi7WuL
When you've completed the above 3 steps, let me know and we will go forward with the firmware recovery process. :good:
I have the same issue. I dont know how but i got hard bricked completely. I was flashing rom on it and it got bricked. Now service centre guy is saying that i have to change motherboard altogether. But your post seems convincing. Please let me know the next detailed process.
i have the same issue.
one day stop working

what is next? i have a tab 3 710f that is very dead.. hardbricked in wont boot into nothing.. black screen like its shut down
Hi all,
So my J7 2017 (SM-J730FZKDLUX) basically soft-bricked itself after an official update. Everything on this phone is stock and I never installed anything suspicious on it either.
The current situation is as follows:
Booting the phone normally doesn't work as it gets stuck on the first Android/Samsung screen.
Recovery and safe modes don't work at all: nothing happens.
Download/Odin mode works.
Samsung Smart Switch says my device is not supported while it's supposed to be...
Samsung Kies does not want to start on my PC and says "Update in progress. Unable to run Kies".
Even though it is still under the standard warranty, I've been told I would have to pay for the screen to be changed since the current screen has a scratch on it...
Since Download mode works, I've tried flashing the phone by following this guide from SAMmobile (https :// www(d0t)sammobile(d0t)com/firmwares/galaxy-j7/SM-J730F/LUX/download/J730FXXU3BRL3/247119/) as well as this guide from updato (https :// updato(d0t)com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=0E6D53429C5B11E89F15FA163EE8F90B).
Both result in Odin getting stuck on the "Initialzation" phase. I've searched on the Internet and people said to remove the SD card (I don't have one in that phone), remove the battery (impossible), use a different USB port (tried all of them), be quick (I click on the "Start" button as soon as the phone is "Added" in Odin), enable Debugging mode (well... I can't boot the phone...), make sure to install the Samsung drivers (done from https :// developer(d0t)samsung(d0t)com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows (official Samsung site), but that didn't change anything), using an older version of Odin (but which am I supposed to use? There are tens of them), make sure that Kies is not running at the same time as Odin (Kies was not even installed at the time), running Odin as admin (this is actually required otherwise it doesn't get passed the "SetupConnection" step unless I'm quick enough), use the original USB cable the phone came with (impossible, it was destroyed by my dog however the cable I'm using fits well in the USB port of phone)...
So what am I doing wrong? What can I do? Please help me!
PS: You'll note that my links are a bit weird, it's because I'm new to xda, sorry about that.

You should use the latest odin (3.13.1) and use an official samsung USB cable if possible. Not all cables (although it fits) are wired the same.
If the problem is hardware related at least you have warranty.
