Disable 'auto-reboot' in Odin first.
Then flash twrp.
When the flash in Odin is complete do not reboot your device, instead take the battery out (yes this sounds a bit weird but it's okay) and then reboot to recovery. Do not boot to system first or else the system will overwrite the custom recovery for stock recovery which happened to you and you will have to start again

Hi guys,
I cannot get my Verizon GS4 to boot in to twrp recovery. I've tried both twrp coordinator (stuck at "processing data from server") and twrp manager. in twrp manager i've tried installing twrp using normal install and install from img file. both appeared to download and install properly, but when I boot into recovery mode (either through twrp manager or through the normal samsung method) I get stuck in download mode instead with a "could not do normal boot" message. I end up needing to re-flash the stock kernel to get unstuck. Also, I couldn't find a tar file for jftlevzw to flash via Odin.
Any suggestions?
same issue for me. 2.7.1.0 solved the issue
How to view encrypted drives?
I'm running TWRP 2.8.3.0 and CM11, and have encrypted my phone. Ever since thenwhen I boot into recovery none of my drives will mount. Is there any way to decrypt my drives on TWRP?
installing 2.8.4.0 to jfltexx
Hi Everyone,
I would like to install the newest twrp to my i9505.
Android version XXUGNG8 4.4.2, samsung stock one.
I have root, and installed twrp app from play.
All set, do i need something other to flash it or simply just hit INSTALL RECOVERY?
Theres a warning message after i hit it about /dev/block/mmcblk0p21. Whats this?
Thx!
Edit: googled it! mmcblk0p21 is right place to choose.
The only thing is i get the message with the unwritable sd. When i press yes, nothing happens. All the time i start the app the message appears.
Edit 2: Nobody using this one i guess. Gonna install cwm instead.
Hey guys,
I wanted to have my phoned backups stored on my computer as well.
In attempt to do so I have just copied the TWRP folder to the computer, however, when I copy the folder back to the phone it won't list as a restorable backup on TWRP.
Anyone could advise how to have then backups on a computer so that I could in the future just easily copy paste and restore?
Thanks!
official 2.8.6.0
the official twrp website now lists a 2.8.6.0 img file in their download section, after downloading, flashing and booting into recovery it shows version 2.8.5.0 ... strange
Wrong version number in image?
Hi. Thank you for this glorious recovery
However - I'm on i9505 jfltexx - downloaded twrp-2.8.6.0-jfltexx.img (was on 2.8.4), flashed, now version is 2.8.5 - Did you forget to update version number?

Except for this minor detail, it's working great thus far Great job!

[Q] Recovery Update.
Hi! My friend has an S4 i9505 with TWRP recovery v2.6.1, and wants to flash a lollipop rom but its required to have the v2.8.6 which has f2fs support. Is it okay to flash the newest version via ODIN? Thank you.
...
galaxy s4 albe s6 porting problem
followed step by step guide: I had lollipop official samsung rom; I rooted with auto root; installed TWRP recovery; wiped data, dalvik and cache; flashed the custom rom (version 2.0). Now it is locked in the Samsung logo since 15 minutes ago. I dont think it is ok. Please help me.
You don't specify which custom ROM you installed, but if it's an Android 5.x ROM, the initial boot after an install can take upwards of a half hour to accomplish due to ART having to compile all apps.
I can not access the recovery menu, it hangs on the logo of TWRP. What can I do?
Sorry for my english.

What version of TWRP did you install?
I was usually getting access recovery mode. But it started to give this issue today. I am using version 2.8.7.0 AntaresOne
Enviado de meu GT-I9505 usando Tapatalk
Install the version at the TWRP website in place of the AntaresOne F2FS-modified version and see if that changes anything.
I've tried and continued the same problem ?

Your phone's storage seems to be corrupt. Flash a stock ROM through Odin, then flash TWRP through Odin. That should fix things.
Fixed with Flashify back to v2.8.7.0. Will go from there. Original question below
Oops. I did something wrong. At the suggestion of some forum members on another thread I attempted to update to 3.0.2-0 Coming from '[JDCTeam][Recovery]TWRP Touch Recovery 3.0.0-0 with F2FS Support', I followed the instructions on the twrp.me site for the S4 VZW I545:
Download the latest TWRP image file (.img) from the download link and boot TWRP. Go to install and find and select the Images... button. Browse to the image that you downloaded and select it. Choose recovery and swipe to flash.
I dowloaded twrp-3.0.2-0-jfltevzw.img, confirmed the MD5 first and then did the flash per the above. Once I did this and rebooted to recovery, I got ! System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless...
I am on MDK bootloader. I thought the image was Loki'd already? I'm not sure how to fix? It said that the image isn't flashable via Odin, so where do I start, TWRP Manager? It looks like after a few tries it's booting to Android so I'm going to try that. Where did I go wrong?
TWRP Manager install fails. Rebooting and trying again..."Something went wrong. Flashing recovery was unsuccessful. Either you already have this recovery or another error has occurred..." Hmm...I don't see an error log or anything. Note that under "Recovery installed" it says "TWRP TWRP". Stumped. Tried the dd method. It provided no errors, but upon reboot to recovery, I get the same ! message.
I suspect I need to Odin back to stock...

So I flashed the latest TWRP 2.8.1.0 using ADB on my 2012 N7 running the official 5.0. Read the OP to see if it was compatible and didn't see anything mentioned about it. It flashed without an issue but upon booting into recovery, I got a dead robot with the red triangle with an exclamation. Does this mean that Android 5.0 isn't supported yet? Thx in advance for the help!
Edit: Reflashed and fixed. 1st flash was probably a bad download. Thx!
Edit 2: flashed recovery.img successfully, but was stuck on boot up for 30mins. Had to reflash device back to stock to fix. Is lollipop not supported yet?

Was able to figure it out and make it work. Not sure what it was that didn't let cmd flash the recovery, but when I used the flashing recovery option in NRT, it worked like a charm.

g530h keeps getting detected as hm2014811

I installed the twrp 2.8.4.0 on my rooted G503H, but when i tried to install a custom rom, it shows: "error executing updater binary in zip" and says that the package is for g530h, and that my device is detected as HM2014811 (XIAOMI REDMI 2). I rooted the phone using the Mohan metod described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/general/successfully-rooted-galaxy-grand-prime-t2935607

Instead using mohan root, you could actually use latest supersu flashable zip to get root, and there's twrp v2.8.7.0 on this grand prime subforum , you can get a guaranteed rooted device with no errors

Before doing my suggestion, flash stock firmware first then factory reset and wipe cache partition using stock recovery to avoid errors

Step No 1:- First, download the TWRP Package (TWRP-SMG530H.tar), Odin tool (Odin v3.10.7) and SuperSU (SM-G530H-SuperSU-v2.46.zip) files on the desktop of your PC for Grand Prime.
Step No 2:- Copy/paste the SuperSU file to the internal storage of your device.
Step No 3:- Extract the TWRP file to get the file with .tar extension and Odin flashing tool also to get the Odin3_v3.10.7.exe file.
Step No 4:- Switch off the Galaxy Grand Prime in order to boot into the Download Mode.
Step No 5:- Switch on the device while pressing and holding Volume UP + Home + Power buttons at the same time. Once a warning screen with a yellow triangle sign appears, press the Volume Up button to enter into Download Mode.
Step No 6:- Run Odin as administrator on the PC.
Step No 7:- Connect the phone using its USB data cable with the PC.
Step No 8:- Once the Grand Prime is connected successfully with the PC, the ID:COM port will turn Blue on Odin and you’ll see “Added!!” message.
Step No 9:- Click on the AP button on Odin and locate the firmware file (TWRP-SMG530H.tar) that you have already extracted. Select it.
Step No 10:- Ensure that the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are checked and the Re-Partition option should be unchecked.
Step No 11:- Begin the TWRP installation by clicking on the Start button in Odin. This process may take a few minutes.
Step No 12:- A PASS! message will be displayed on Odin after the TWRP installed successfully and the device will restart.
Step No 13:- Disconnect the device and turn it OFF to boot into TWRP recovery mode.
Step No 14:- Turn ON the phone by pressing and holding the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons altogether to boot into the TWRP recovery.
Step No 15:- Tap the Install button in TWRP and select the SM-G530H-SuperSU-v2.46.zip.
Step No 16:- After the installation is completed, reboot the system.

I rooted the smartphone and installed recovery twrp recovery successfully and wiped out dalvik cache, data and internal storage which led to deletion of the OS from the system so whenever i reboot the phone stays in the initial boot where it shows the samsung logo so i downloaded custom roms from xda dev site XDA Member kn06497

MAGISK V14.0 New Method Installation Bootloop Issue

Trying to utilise the new method of installing v14.0 of MAGISK.
I've installed Magisk Manager and got a copy of my boot.img, I've patched within the app and flashed the patched_boot.img.tar via ODIN and got the Green PASS.
This however after a couple of vibrations just hangs the phone at the BootAnimation when restarted.
I've reflashed the stock boot.img and my device boots correctly.
Also posted this under the Official Q&A Thread:
Samsung G935F Samsung S7 Edge on Three UK FW
I've tried using the new method to create patched_boot.img.tar to flash with ODIN.
ODIN flashes successfully but device just hangs at boot animation.
Reboot and flashed stock boot.img and boots fine.
Opened up New Issue on @topjohnwu GitHub here: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/issues/356
I've seen these quotes:
Quote:
Samsung devices are quirky. The normal installation instructions are in the release thread. If you're device requires a special installation process you're probably better off checking in your device's forum.
Quote:
No. You have to unlock the bootloader since you need to be able to fish a modified boot image. Only exception are Samsung devices since these can be flashed with ODIN... Which most likely will exclude the locked down is versions
With v14.0 and this method being so new I can't find anything on a special installation process as I want to install using new method only. Any advice or anything further I can supply to help Troubleshoot.

I had the same issue - the only way is to wipe the data and cache in recovery after installing the new boot.img (its because the phone detects the new boot.img and so prevent access)

rr 7.1.2 without gapps/ recovery mode not possible

Hello xda developers this is my second thread sorry for the first one that i made yesterday, I am having a problem with my lenovo k4 note a7010a48
after rooting successfully I proceed to flash rr 7.1.2 but did not flash the gapps now my problem is how to go back on recovery mode to start over again
I already used the power button followed by the volume up down buttons but it is not working like before it is nougat. I only need to get to recovery mode. Please help and thankyou in advance. More power
Does u have root access now and which version of rr u flashed
yes the phone is rooted already and flashed with rr 7.1.2 only need to open recovery mode which is I have no idea
Contact in telegram app 9032015333 I will tell u

I have the same issue. Can't enter into recovery and the phone is unable to start.
Same Issue || Don't Know How To Fix
Hi,
I am searching for a possible solution from a day. But could not find a working solution.
After successfully flashing RR-N-5.8.5 (Android N)
Unable to go into recovery.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
1. When Press Vol Up + Vol Down + Power Up
2. Recovery is not loading up
3. Instead it goes in boot loop
4. Normal boot mode and fast boot mode are working perfectly fine
SOLUTIONS TRIED:
1. Flashing recovery again using fastboot mode
2. Flashing different recovery, i.e updated version of recovery
As all recoveries which were available were for marshmallow version. I am not sure but have doubt as android version is updated so the kernel so do recovery also become obsolete in this case ?
Any help is welcome and appreciated
Thanks

for fastboot mode and for recovery mode yes i tried it also but thats the problem no recovery mode. I will wait for the solution when it comes i will just store my phone for a while.
Hi Developers,
Is it possible to reset the phone at hardware level? I can't even connect the phone to PC as it keeps on rebooting.
Please note: upgraded to Nougat and wanted to do the second recovery as suggested by mohancm in the post. When the phone rebooted (before flashing the second recovery), the problem started.
Please let me know if any one has a fix/workaround for the issue.
Thanks,
Srihari
1.Download TWRP recovery unzip files.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1CKVcdcbHFPUzFCODVMN0ZfTW8/view
2.Now in folder TWRP\img\ there is the file recovery.img.
3.Download the second recovery for nougat recovery-Nougat.img and put in the TWRP\img folder.
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298981920
4.Rename it as the original, recovery.img and replace it.
5.Then connect your phone to usb and select the 3th option from usb debugging message
"Transfer photos(ptp)"
6.run TWRP_Install.bat from TWRP folder
And you are done, had the same problem and I figure this solution, hope it will help.
I cannot locate the transfer photos(ptp)
ok I already done the part I am now on the recovery mode thanks. new problem of mine is after flashing the rom gapps and recovery after reboot it goes back to recovery mode did I miss something on flashing?
ok so i already passed this problem thanks for the help xda community thank you very much but I have this bootloop problem maybe I did a mistake flashing before rebooting sorry i am a noob in this kind of upgrade specially in mobile phones. I will be careful next time after I passed this problem I hope you will help me once again, my phone in bootloop is killing me.
I have same issue... I flashed gapps and my phone is working smoothly... The issue is i can't go into recovery mode... I tried some one tap reboot to recovery apps but all whats happening is phone restarting normally.
For those who can't access recovery mode. You were supposed to flash updated recovery image after flashing rrn rom.
Enter into fastboot mode by using adb shell.
Flash the updated recovery image
Now try rebooting into recovery.
Should work.
Worst case, restore by flashing stock rom using SP flash tools. And then start all over again.
If you face any issues ping me. Even I had faced this issue and fixed it after a lot of struggle. I can try to help you.
Or you could download Official Twrp App directly from play store, then find A3000 (Air Row) in 'select device' and flash that to recovery, (if your phone is rooted) then you are good to go, go to recovery mode and thats all, your twrp is now has been flashed.
Thank me later??

This really worked for me. Many thanks man.
Well it got me some time to find the right recovery image for my ROM so I decided to give you link for anyone going through the same.
My configuration at that time was: DotOS 1.2 and TWRP 3.1.1 (or so).
On the DotOS thread was enclosed link to wrong recovery image file (or its version was changed as of 28.12.2018) but after small investigation I found this file recovery-mohan-N.img.
Note: This recovery worked for TWRP and Android Nougat and I'm not an expert to suggest this will work for your case either.
Thank you again and have a nice time
