I have a 950 dual sim that I want to reload the OS on to refresh it. When I try I get prompted for a recovery key. I do not have a recovery key. Any way to get around this and just load it from scratch like it came from the factory?

I just got my Nexus one, but I cant start it it just keep rebooting when the four colord logo appears. I have tried to clear the storage but no luck. Really need som serious help here!
Thanks/ Viiddee
had the same problem. went back to recovery mode and used 'wipe' for all partitions (earlier i had done it only for the first on the list).
reinstalled CM from the SD card and all was well this time.
hope this helps you.
Yes krumbs is right you need to do a wipe upfront flashing the rom.
Without I also had the booting loop.
Maybe therefore in the installation instructions there's the point do a wipe ;-)
Sometimes we should read a little better, to prevent such problems.
Did you flash a rom? Or it's looping out of the box?

it looped out of the box.. and since i am new with android i need some help with this recovery wipe thing!? I got into fastboot mode and found recovery but when i did that i just got the android logo with a ! . And since it was like this out of the box I dont feel like try rooting it..
Oh didn't notice that you wrote that this booting loop is right out of box...
Let them change it, that's what I would do in that case.
yes it was.. the thing is that i live in sweden and it will cost me alot if i have to send it back.. so is there anything eles I can try? If I unlock the bootloader can reverse the unlock so that the warranty still works?
thanks in advance/ V
No, you can't relock the bootloader. Turn off the phone... restart by holding the volume down key. Scroll down to wipe/factory reset and hit power to confirm. Should reboot automatically. If this doesn't work, you have no choice but to get it replaced. HTC normally pays for the shipping... and since this is Dead on Arrival, they shouldn't have a problem sending you a new phone.

Ok. anyone having the experience of returning a nexus from any other country then UK or US?

I have a Nexus S 4G which is rooted and had an ICS rom installed on it. I was attempting to go back to stock and during the process the phone got disconnected from the machine. Now the phone will boot into the welcome to android screen but has a lot of force closures. I can't get into the settings to turn debugging on. I've tried rebooting and holding the down volume key and power button but it just boots straight into the OS.
It still boots up and shows the phone as unlocked, I can enable usb storage and that is about it. Does anyone know a way to bring the phone back from this point?
Nevermind, i guess it was up and power to get to recovery. Once I was in there I could send the fastboot commands to put the new images on there.

I tried to root my s7 and it got stuck at the samsung loading screen. I tried to restore factory and wipe the phone and restarted it. I ended up with the annoying activation page where it says "welcome, preparing your device..." and can't get pass that. How can I get to the home screen?

Do you know what Firmware you are on? (Since your phone won't get passed activation, you can find it in recovery, in the text at the top. Something like: G930******PJ2)
Also, did you Factory Reset from the Settings Menu, in Recovery Mode, or through ODIN?
SIDE NOTE: When I got stuck at that I would go back a step in the setup wizard, then forward and it would usually take.

The firmware version is G930PVPS4APJ2.
I did factory reset from the recovery mode.
Since I don't have a sprint account, it doesn't allow me to pass the activation stage. Though I have a sprint sim card it says it's locked.
I added an image of the page.
Try Flashing the stock firmware with odin. See this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s7/how-to/official-pj2-stock-firmware-t3495866

Thank you so much! It worked
I know there are many threads on this and I have tried everything...I think I'm FUBAR on this one. I have the SM-T520, I think. It was running a old 12.1 cyanogenmod and 2.X version of TWRP. I wanted to get to LineageOS. So I downloaded the image for my tablet. Made a good backup to SD and did a wipe and install of the LineageOS image. It boots up but the curve line with the circle just never went away. I could boot to recovery and restore my backup and all was good.
So next I got the latest TWRP version , 3.1.X. Booted into recovery and flashed with that image.
Now I'm at the downloading....death screen. I tried draining the battery. The numerous power combinations...no luck. Everything just goes to that screen. If there is no way back I get it, thats on me. Just looking to see if anyone has another idea. Hook it up to my computer?
Thanks.

You don't have to drain the battery. Hold the Home + vol- + Power buttons for about ten seconds and the tablet will reboot. However, if you don't do anything else it will just boot back to the same download screen. What you need to try is holding those keys, and as soon as the screen blanks, switch from the vol- button to vol+ button. That should boot you into recovery.
If that doesn't work, your only option would be to use Odin to start over again

As soon as the Samsung SM-T520 screen flashes it goes right to the download screen.
I'm trying what u suggest but doesn't seem to do anything, unless im doing ir wrong. Once I go with + volume I get to the ODIN mode and the same downloading message.
How do I start over? I'd like to use LineageOS if possible.

You have to be quick to shift from Vol- to Vol+ as soon as the screen blanks or else you are right back to download mode. What I mean by "start over" is just that. Use Odin to flash a STOCK ROM, then TWRP and only then can you use TWRP to flash a custom ROM or restore one you previously backed up with TWRP.
edit: Change that "quick" to "very quick".

FYI....I went to sammobile.com and found this model but it had no US version. I choose the UK version. Odin looks like it's working then at the very end it ends up failing the final write. Samsung wants $65 to start for me to get it serviced.

The U.S. version is "Cellular South". Are you sure you are using the latest version of Odin? Older versions won't work with the latest STOCK ROM. Only flash the BP and AP modules.

Dont pay anything to Samsung to fix this. Its easily solved by either flashing the stock firmware or just flash twrp and boot to recovery.
I was finally able to get a good working stock Samsung rom to start with. I'm back in business. Thank you all for the help!
So my phone is stuck in an endless loop where it keeps going back to TWRP. I tried using the MSM tool, and its not recognizing the image on my phone it says. Not sure where to go from here.

How did you get into the loop? Were you flashing something? Might be worth going into TWRP and flashing the full system image.
Pretty sure you are using msmdownloadtool wrong. Completely shut down the phone. Make sure to DISCONNECT the phone form pc. Hold vol up and vol down for 5 sec. And it should unbrick hour phone
Hold power and volume up till the phone shuts off...
Now with the device completely powered off hold both volume buttons down at the same time for about five seconds then while continuing to hold both volume buttons plug USB in from pc to your phone the screen will be black and it's normal.... After this it should be showing up in the MSM tool....
It showed up in the MSM tool, but when i click start it goes for 4 seconds and then tells me that it doesnt recognize the image.

Yes, i was on the NoLimits rom and wanted to stop using it since i felt it was impacting a few things on my phone that i didnt like, but i really enjoyed Viper4Arise. So i was trying to flash V4A and after i was done flashing it wouldnt load past the unlocked bootloader screen, and i was stupid enough to not create a backup before i started because i didnt think V4A would be that harmful. After trying to wipe my phone and start fresh, i got stuck in the recovery loop.

If you are booting into recovery, first try formatting your data. In OnePlus's recovery, select English, and somewhere there is an option to "ERASE EVERYTHING." This will format the partition for OOS. On TWRP, go to Wipe--> Format Data. That may fix the bootloop.
If this does not fix it, the MSM download tool is a good option, however, I see it did not work for you. You can download OnePlus's official ROM from here, and for that, you want to flash it in TWRP like any other mod, then reboot. If you are still boot-looping after that, try formatting your data again for good measure.
For the MSM Download tool, you MUST be on Windows, and you must have extracted the archive fully, which can be done by right-clicking on the ZIP and selecting "Extract all." Then, turn the phone completely off, no USB attached. Press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down, and connect the device to the computer. You should then be able to launch the MSM tool, selecting the normal one for the stock variant, and the factory_mcl for the McClaren variant. If your device does not show up, make sure you have installed Qualcomm drivers from here.
Good luck and I hope you get your phone working!

That happened to me as well with the 9.0.1.2 version.
What I did is I used an older version 9.0.1.1 works all the time. No matter what Rom you had previously installed, So try an older version.
