Vk_WakeLock - causes battery drain - what is this? - Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Questions & Answers

I have rooted my S5e and have a firewall installed, blocking most stuff. It seems that while network connected this casues a lot of power drain and keeps device on (screen off but no deep sleep obviously).
Anyone knows what it is and how to solve that?

found this thread thru a google search, I don't have this device but I have this wakelock.
if anyone passing knows how you figure what app amongst "the system" this belongs please share... thanks.

[Q] need help or advice on deep sleep problem

Hey guys,
i am on latest CM9 quarx build..but my phone is not going into deep sleep atall
it says 0% deep sleep in CPUspy...tat has become a headache..i was on epi CM(..there also it had come problem..then installed latest quarx build..then it was going into deep sleep unto few hrs ago..now it says 0% deep sleep.
I cant few detailed battery drinking info on ICS unlike GB..
Any help would be appreciated name of the app..or advice..or any kind of help will do..
Thank you
Try editing your build.prop and adding
Code:
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=1
Don't know if this will help , but in the event that it doesn't , try ending processes before locking the phone , or use some system analyzer to see what app is stopping deep sleep
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
thanks but i did a full data wipe and reinstalled everything from scratch..later restored apps with the help of titanium backup
its pain in the ass to do everything from scratch...anyways if still i face this problem then will report back..anyways could anyone suggest me some apps which can findout which app or process is the culprit?
Try this one:

I had the same problem on CM7 120126.2206, and it turned out that Google Maps was the culprit. However, I discovered that Google Maps doesn't prevent the phone from going into deep sleep when the GPS is disabled. Try disabling GPS whenever you're not using it, and see if that helps.
Edit: after further testing, it seems that Google Maps may not have been the culprit after all, or I may have more than one problem with deep sleep. Occasionally the phone gets locked out of deep sleep even when GPS is turned off; yesterday it failed to enter deep sleep even while the phone was untouched for 4 hours. The "BetterBatteryStats" app indicated listed "wifi_wake" under Kernel Wakelocks as the primary culprit. Disabling then re-enabling wifi solved the problem, at least temporarily.

[Q] Bluetooth wakelock Solved

Hi,
I've installed Better Battery stats and found that when BT is connect to the car, the "bluetooth_timer" kernel wakelock keep the phone awake, which drains the battery.
Googled it, search here nothing on that wakelock.
Does anyone know how to fix it? is there an option in the Note somewhere that controls BT timer?
Thank you
Solved:
If you press "cancel" when phone asks you to allow messages, and you don't check markalways allow for the phone book, the wakelock is not a problem. Also don;t set phonebook to auto download if you have the option, just do one time download.
I am pretty sure it's the "auto phonebook download" and check marking allow for always, but I disabled messages just in case.

Mac computer waking my s4 when connected to wifi.

Hello, for some reason my Mac is always putting out large amounts of traffic on my wireless network causing my S4 to wake killing battery life. A while back I ran into a thread that showed how to disable a print service that was constantly waking my phone up and I was able to solve that issue, but there are 6 or 7 IP's that my computer keeps talking to that is causing WIFI to wake up. Its gotten to the point where connecting to my home WIFI causes more power drain than cell standby. Has anyone run into something like this before, or can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!
224.0.0.1 is the worst offender.

Do you have any idea whether or not you've paired them using Bluetooth connectivity at some point in the past?

No, definitely not.

[Q] How to debug “wlan_wake kernel wakelock” on an unrooted device?

The question is as short as the title. I've a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 & it has started showing issues where the CPU remains in lowest possible frequency (250Mhz) and it doesn't go to deep sleep.
I tried uninstalling all the apps that I installed in last 2 days but I can still see the issues.
Searching on google isn't helping either. Most of the posts that get in search results are the posts where people paste the betterbatterstats output. On the official wiki, https://github.com/asksven/BetterBatteryStats-Knowledge-Base/wiki/wlan_wake , it's mentioned that a sniffer should be used to debug.
I saw that most of the sniffers actually require root. So, how do I debug this wakelock without rooting my phone?
Thing to note is, I was not seeing this wakelock since a few days back and I started seeing it just today. I don't want to switch off the wlan while the screen is off & I actually want to fix this.
PS: Please help as I've actually very religiously searched on the internet and I'm unable to find the solution.

That's how I came to know about it (using BetterBatteryStats though). It's a kernel wakelock, not a partial one. So, it's not what's triggered by the apps and hence it isn't easy to find the app that's causing it.
At various places, people are suggesting that some app is constantly using the wlan0 and hence the wakelock but I'm not sure which one.
So, anyone knows?
Bump

N900 Wakelock
Hi
I had the same problem
Sometimes it's happened when I change WIFI state (On/Of)
Follow this:
0)I use Cpu Spy app to determine wakelock & Deep Sleep Problems
1) go to Wifi settings & turn on Wifi
2) go to Advanced
3)Set "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to "Never"
4)Wait some seconds (I used to turn off screen, wait for some seconds)
5) turn off wifi
if you want to use wifi, turn on wifi and set "keep Wi-Fi..." to "Always" or not.
Notice that befor turning of Wifi, set it to "Never"
notice that when your phone is connected to charger T before disconnecting charger, unlock phone and wait for a few seconds while screen is on, then disconnect charger,

Few possible causes:
- Do you have Wifi Scanning set to enabled? (Wifi settings)
- Do you have Use Wifi Networks enabled in Location settings in both Settings and Googe Settings?

WLAN_WAKE wakelock + Wi-Fi not showing

I'm at a loss here and i hope somebody can help me out here.
I've had my Note 4 for a while now, working great, but after a week or two after flashing Simpl-rom (latest)(Android 5.0.1) it started to drain battery while the screen was off.
I tried to debug this issue and found that WLAN_WAKE is preventing the device from sleeping.
Of course i did search for solutions but none of that worked, disabled all the background scanning and stuff in advanced wifi settings.
I tried to freeze all my regularly used apps planning to unfreeze them one by one to see when the issue started to show up, odd thing is, the issue persists even if i freeze all my daily-use apps.
I also noticed no networks in range show up in my Wi-Fi list, only the ones that i saved in the past (of course most showing out of range).
Using a 3rd party Wi-Fi manager works fine, it detects all the networks in range.
Disabling Wi-Fi allows the phone to go back to sleep again. However, when enabled again after that no more sleeping occurs.
The only "solution" to this is a full reboot. This solves the wakelock/batterydrain issue temporarily but not the Wi-Fi networks not showing up.
It can take 30 minutes before the issue shows up again or it can take half a day.
I also tried to detect if any apps were using background data, none that i could detect.
Even stranger, i have the exact same issue with my Galaxy S5 running Omega-rom (latest). (Android 5.0.1)
The drain on the battery isn't huge (10-15% per night), but it's there and unnecessary (i know it can do with 2-3% per night if the bug doesn't occur), obviously something is going wrong and i wish to find out what and resolve it.
Anyone experienced similar problems or knows how i can proceed to debug this issue?
I say issue because i feel these problems are related, they could be separate problems though..
