Hi everyone, so i just rooted my S20 (980F) and i was wondering how to change the csc ? i know there are some files to edit but i don't recall which.. I'm fully rooted, i just did it to change csc and go back to stock.
Hmmm. Did you try with some custom ROM because I know mine offers the ability to change it for S9+.

He asks for CSC with root.

I have rooted my Note 3 succesfully with RDLV, without tripping Knox. I am really happy with that.
My phone is branded Vodafone, with CSC N9005VFGBMI1. The latest Firmware for that is MI7.
I have a few questions about this, hope someone can help me with this.
I want to update to N9005XXUDMK2_N9005OXADMK2_BTU.zip. I know it's a different csc, is that possible? (I know I will lose Knox 0x0)
If that is possible, how do I do that?
Thanks!

1. You should read the thread on how to update the system using Mobile Odin PRO without losing knox 0x0. Also keep in mind that you need to stop both ROM and security automatic updates in order to avoid having the knox flag triggered.
2. Also check http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SM-N9005&pcode=VOD#firmware
3. If you really want to change CSC away from VOD and for instance to BTU you should probably do that first at MI7 level (from your current MI7 VOD to MI7 BTU) if you want maximum safety and to be able to root again with knox 0x0. You might also need an app to help you checking/changing CSC, look around for threads discussing that specific topic.
Can I safely use a firmware with a CSC N9005VFGDMJ1? Or do I always have to use a firmware of the original CSC? (N9005VFGBMI1)?

You do not need to use a firmware with the original CSC, BUT:
- you should try to do as much of the changes as possible on OLDER versions with the old bootloader (so that you can still root and keep knox 0x0)
- writing a ROM with a different CSC will very often NOT change your effective CSC - many ROMs are multi-CSC and you might keep existing CSC on the new ROM; in order to finalize the change you will need to use a program that forces the CSC change (and you will see that the CSC was changed since it will totally wipe the user data in the phone - like a full factory reset)
- you should also be aware that some changes might mess things on your phone, so instead of jumping to the first change you can think-off you should first try to read more around here.

Thanks for your helpful reply. I will take your advice and will read more around here before I do things I don't understand. I'm rooted now at firmware MI7, with 0x0 Knox. I did a lot of reading before I took that step. I will take time before I do the next one.

Don't forget to disable automatic updates and security updates. Especially read the thread on Mobile Odin PRO and updating while keeping knox 0x0. (CSC is almost irrelevant in most cases - as long as 3G/4G from your provider is correctly detected; if you are rooted with knox 0x0 you will ALWAYS want to update the ROM manually under YOUR control and not when Samsung or your carrier wants to update your phone).

Software Update (also Samsung Hub Update, but that is just since I never use the Samsung Hub). Right now I did not freeze the Security Policy Update but I am tempted - but on that I first disabled automatic security updates somewhere in settings.

Download S8 India firmware extract CSC.
Install safestrap in S8 and then either raplace CSC manually in /system or make a zip of CSC and flash in safestrap. And delete OMC folder having original CSC. before changing anything make sure you backup efs partition in safestrap in case something goes wrong.

Thanks much man. But that would mean that i can't update my OS beyond nougat, isn't it?
This might sound stupid, but can i do the flashing using odin? or would that brick my device?

With safestrap you can have either rooted nougat or Oreo or pie and switch between these anytime you want. I guess you are on bootloader rev5. To get safestrap you have to follow jrkruse EDL method then follow his Oreo or pie guide.
This process uses modded Odin and safestrap to install. Make you follow his instructions to T
If you want rooted nougat let me know I can send you instructions.
What software you are currently on?

Yes.. I'm on rev5. Please don't mind me saying this, but I dont want to root my phone coz i tried it before on oneplus 5 and it went terribly wrong  . So, if there is no way i can do it using odin and flashing HOME_CSC i really don't want to risk it. But, thanks a lot for all this . And sorry for bothering with so much details. Thanks much.
hi folks,
Please can someone give me pointers on how to flash a stock rom on and S8 to remove the enterprise edition. Not keen on rooting but could consider it as an option.
Do I need to change the CSC code? Or leave it to the existing carrier? Whats the best option.
Please advise

Hi,
Changing CSC is not mandatory so it's up to you. You can flash stock ROM without changing it.
- Use Odin on PC for flashing, download the ROM on the internet and find it once downloaded by pressing AP button on Odin.
- Use Samfirm to download firmwares from Samsung (adviced).

Thanks Benjamin..
Can I get away with installing a stock rom or do I need to install the carrier rom? The carrier is vdaphone..
Depends if your device is vodafone branded or not
Thanks folks, I have been able to flash the BTU rom and it all good..
I have one issue, the enterprise knox enrollment service still comes up at startup.. I was under the impression that a stock flash return it to standard from enterprise.
Please advise
Update: I went down the root option and wiped the phone which got rid of the enterprise software. I didnt know about the e-fuse (last I rooted a phone and was able to return it to stock years ago and thought it still to be the case) now despite flashing the stock BTU firmware I have 0×1 flag which means I can't use S Health etc.
Not fussed about the warranty as it was out anyway.. can anyone recommend options I should go down?
Any pointers folks?
Find a stock based custom rom with patched s health and other apps with fake Knox 0x0, that's the only choice for you now
Hello everyone. I'm new here. I wanted to know if I can change my S7 edge (exynos) sm-g935fd firmware from UAE to India. I am currently on Oreo G935FXXS8ETCA Xsg which has bootloader 8 if I'm not wrong, but I want to install ins firmware G935FODD7ETA1 also Oreo which has bootloader 7 . Is this switch possible?
P.s. I want to change firmware bcoz I am not getting volte on my phone. I've tried a few things without any luck. And the only solution seems to be to change my CSC. Any help will be appreciated.

As far as I know you can't downgrade due to antirollback protection. I don't imagine switching firmwares would work very well at all

It not a rollback technically it's more of a sideways move but I might be wrong. Is it because of the older bootloader on the firmware I want to switch to?
Thanks for the reply.

If you attempt to switch your bootloader to an older version it can cause a hard brick putting the device into EDL mode but I do believe you can switch the system a bit
So there is no way to change the firmware? Is there any way I can get volte

You should be able to swap the system partition and CSC to something else as long as your not in any kind of Android Verified Boot
I don't know what that is. But I've only been using stock ROMs from ota updates. My phone isn't rooted either. I just want to activate volte on my phone. I would really appreciate if you could help me.
Btw thanks for the prompt replies.

You're absolutely welcome! I'll have a search around Google and maybe point you into the right direction. I'm sure there is a flashable firmware for Odin (combo-firmware) that enables this
EDIT:
Because your on an International chipset (Exynos) you can actually flash a custom OS which supports the Volte. Just ensure you've taken the steps to unlock the bootloader through the developer options in settings (enable OEM unlock)
Don't unlock your bootloader and dont root your phone
if something goes wrong the EFS patition will corrupt and you are on U8
U7 combination firmware is not available and we dont know when will it will be available
you have to download U8 rom and flash home csc from U7 INS (latest software available for India)
it will enable Volte on your phone
make sure to tick nand erase when flashing Autoboot and f.reset time

Unlocking and root have nothing to do with the EFS partition. Sounds like you may have did something like modifying it and caused data to be corrupt and you never kept a backup.

6 monts before i didn't know things now i know things like bl and opening and booting phone wihtout bl and many more
its the easiest method to get INS VOLTE on UAE Exynos Model
My phone is running smooth but efs is corrupted that makes S/N No. none and no network
Phone is dead from march
Lets hope for U7 and U8 combination firmware
Thanks for the help. Really
Volte used to work before the Oreo update. And won't a custom ROM trip my Knox? (I use secure folder). I recently tried to flash a stock ROM with modified CSC file to get volte working on my S6 g920f. But it didn't work. It tripped my Knox and now my short codes don't work and CSC shows blank. Calls work though. But no volte.

You can wait for the INDIAN U8 STock and then flash it on your device with Home CSC which will surely enable volte
Remember With Nanderase f.reset time and auto reboot
Don't trip your knox i regret it!!
I would wait too if you trip Knox with a warranty then your SOL. If your lucky you won't be it's best to wait for the firmware
Well I am waiting till there is a stock firmware. But I don't think there will be an official update seeing as it's an old model phone and the official software support is only 2 or 3 years from the company. So fingers crossed. I might flash the ins version and try to make it work if I get a new phone and my S7 will become a spare.
And thanks for the help guys ?.
