As many in this forum, I realized that the unit I bought is not up to expectations and I am seeking software alternatives to improve the user experience.
After having read many posts in this forum I am left with a key basic question:
Given all the information I can collect from the device (see picture) how can I tell which rom is compatible ? Where can I find a collection of roms and how do I know which ones are compatible ?
With phones it is simple enough to find alternative compatible roms. I did not figure out how to do it for a HU.

Compatibility of the firmware is mainly decided through Android System and MCU parameters.
In your case Android System is HMI and compatible firmware is TSKJ.D.0.F.2.C04 the rest of that row shows the date of the firmware.
MCU has to be as close as possible but preferably exactly the same.

Thank you for clarifying.
What does HMI mean ? is it some kind of category ?
So any new firmware that I select needs to be a version of TSKJ.D.0.F.2.C04, and should be listed as compatible wtih MCU TS907.190518(H) ?

HMI stands for Human Machine Interface and it's just a type of Android operating system. I had a look at 4PDA and there is a thread about these units with plenty of tweaks. The site is in Russian but you can use Google translate.

Well, after a bit of searching, I downloaded Rockchip SD Firmware Tool and it did the trick.
All I needed to do is put a SD card and check Upgrade Firmware, select the CORRECT update img to load and click "create".
Insert SD to bricked HU and after rebooting, it installed the original firmware previously loaded.
So, in case there´s another incautious like me, there is option to recover from shame.
Anyway, Is there any late firmware I could flash in order to make DVR cam (6-pin connector instead of USB) work?
Thank you.

Hello Folks,
i recently bought a Pumpkin Head Unit.
Description as follows:
PUMPKIN 32GB + 2GB Octa Core Android CarRadio Multimedia Player Opel
Modell: CN10-04202H-01A-DE1-FBA
ASIN: B075WPSSDS
CPU: Ultra Octa-T8
MCU: 5.3.19-11-81-453101-170502
System: V9.1.1_20170904.191626_KED3-5
Android: 6.0.1
I did a lot of reading / searching for Pumpkin Octacore etc. to find the appropriate forum for custom ROMs. But I just can’t find it.
So I am hoping that someone might be able to show me the way!
Best regards

Google gave me amazon.de via "pumpkin CN10-04202H-01A-DE1-FBA"
I was not 100% sure, but there is hardly any other possibility. I pointed you to that thread as it also helps you to identify your own unit if it is really an MTCD PX5, by looking at the settings "about my device"..

That's not really enough information to determine whether or not it can be rooted. Pictures of the unit, processor type, maybe a link where you ordered it from would all be helpful.
Please see first post for pics, thanks for taking the time to answer me.
Ah, that's one of the "Tesla Style" units, just like the ones that people use in their Mustangs and Focus.
There's a thread on the AC models here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...its/identify-head-unit-apps-kk-4-4-4-t3446989
If that root method doesn't work, Kingroot & Kingoroot usually work.
Thanks for you reply!! I already read the whole thread and also tried to root it like they explained. Does not work. Also Kingroot give me a “failed” error. Do you now where to find more info about this?

With the old Tesla Units, Kingoroot (not Kingroot) worked like a charm. Have you tried that? Also make sure you're connected to a WiFi network when you run it.

I did not tried it yet. I will and report back.
Is there a high risk of bricking it?

The risk of bricking anything that isn't a major manufacturer is inherent any time you try to root via any method. I've personally never bricked anything with Kingoroot.
Patrick: thanks so much! It worked with Kingoroot!
Hi, I got a Skywell ET5 from China. For those who don't know the vehicle, its a chinese SUV that is being introduced around the world including europe, the middle east and the Americas.
It seems like I was kinda screwed since I purchased the chinese version - so the headunit language is in Chinese and only chinese!!!
here is an international version of the vehicle that comes in English, and possibly another Chinese version of the vehicle that also comes in English.
Do you have any idea if its possible to change the software to an English capable version?
My understanding is that it runs android. Here are screenshots of the settings, (See translation in the images below).
Would love to hear from you, and excuse me if I am in the wrong section of the forum.

Hi Dear, Thanks for trying to help.
I am not looking for the language settings as they don't exist.
I am wondering if I can flash a custom rom based on the international version of the vehicle to solve my issue.
Do you have any idea if development work for things like this is being done, or is it considered not safe since it involves smart vehicles?
do you have stock firmware
This is no Android radio, this is an OEM system.

Thanks, Yes, its OEM - I'm pretty sure its android based though... someone was able to install apps using ADB on it, so I thought it maybe a good idea if I ask about it here....
May be it´s Android based... nevertheless, the language settings is part of the OEM system.
You need to go the way to ask the car dealer to help here. There is nothing someone could help here in the community.
May be ask in a forum for your car make?
Click few times bluetooth version area until you see popup. Then you will able to enable adb and install apk.

I have a bluetotth issue that it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting by it self. I complained to the seller then he has provided me with a firmware which name is (TS10.2.2_20220629.144922_THEME1_V2.zip) . I get the flipped screen right after the firmware upgrade. and the bluetooth issue wasn't resolved.
