I tried Sakura Project 5.1 and I liked how it looked. Only some things weren't working. So I was wondering if there are any other good stable ROM's out there for Samsung S8 with android 11?
There's Havoc OS with official support, check this thread.

If I want to try that one, should I download the one that says ROM [GAPPS] or the one that says ROM [VANILLA]? I am not sure what the difference is.

GAPS has built-in Google Apps, you won't need to install anything other than the ROM. It's nice actually, you won't get too much trouble. Once installed, it's ready just like any normal device.
Vanilla is just the AOSP-based ROM without Google Apps, it's lighter, more .. simple, and probably more secure if you're that kind whom hates tracking and stuff.

Havoc looks great. I just had one question though. How do I turn on the navigation bar at the bottom? All I can do right now is swipe up to close the app.

I've seen a lot of threads about this but I can't quite seem to understand them. I switched from an iPhone and they have tweaks and such. Now I know Android is more open and more possibilities but I can't quite find a guide of some sort for my s4. I mean, is there a list of the most popular things to do on a rooted s4? Essential tweaks? Any recommendations? What I mean is that I'd like to customize my device without having to change the entire rom. I think I said that right.. lol.
Thanks in advance!
Start with xposed framework and all the various modules. Also definitely check out Wanam in the play store.
Thank You!

Can you use the XPOSED framework with the stock TouchWiz rom using 4.4.2?
In terms of customization I do:
1. Root the phone. I use root to get extra functionality out of a few apps.
2. Disable or Uninstall bloatware.
3. Download Apex Launcher [Free] and setup my homescreen with some basic gestures. I only use one homescreen with a calendar widget and 6 icons.
4. Download Better Battery Stats [Free/ROOT] from XDA so that I understand how my battery is being affected.
5. Download LMT Launcher [Free/ROOT] from XDA so that I can simply use PIE to control/navigate with my phone easily.
6. Download Llama [Free] or Tasker [Paid] or both for automation and doing custom tasks.
7. Download AirDroid [Free/ROOT] for a wireless way of managing my phone, needs root for special features.
8. Download AdAway (not sure where to get this, I forgot) but it will help stop ads in apps/games and more.
9. Download Light Manager [Free] to change the LED colour for events like charging, charged, text message, email and more.
10. Change how all notifications appear, have a look at Floatifications [Tria/Paid] and there are many others.
I find that the customization of Android depends on what you find to be annoying and inefficient, therefore I change it.
I personally think LMT Launcher to get access to PIE is the absolute best way to navigate and control your phone or tablet.
Think about themes for your phone, at least for the homescreen, I like dark icons and a dark wallpaper because when I use my phone at night it is really easy on the eyes. However certain apps don't have a night/dark mode and instead a white background and that's annoying.
Just to reiterate, think of something you dislike about how Android works and change it. There's literally an app to customize anything and majority of them are free.
Good luck!

You are like me, you want to mod your phone while keeping stock ROM intact. Well, head on over to the Google Play store and download Wanam Xposed. You need the Xposed framework installed to use it though. Wanam enables you have a scrolling background, CRT off animation, change or hide the battery icon, etc.
Keep 'em coming!
I really appreciate all the replies!
But I typically want to keep the stock system.
May be hard to believe but I actually like TouchWiz UI. Lol.
But all suggestions are considered. Thanks again to everyone!
Hey guys!
I was messing around with Google Now Launcher, which comes with last OTA update for our Moto G (unless you're a soak tester).
I'm not sure if this is a problem with all users, but the transition between home screen and app drawer are quite laggy, not smooth compared to launcher3, the old launcher before that update.
So, in order to make this stop and get a little better performance, there is a thing you can do.
1- Go to Google Now Launcher settings (Located sided of wallpapers and widgets options)
2- Tap on "Voice"
3- Tap on "Ok Google" Detection
4- Unmark the "From Google Search App" option
5- Soft reboot your phone
Done!
I think many of you guys already know that trick, but i'll let this here if anyone who have this problem can actually solve it.
Hope I helped, cya! :good:

Nice tip. Here's one for you now - may I suggest changing to title from "GNL" to "Google Now Launcher", as there's really no useful reason to have abbreviated it. I am sure many people will look at "GNL", as I did, and think "What on earth is GNL?"
If there was a good reason to have done so, yes, but it is just confusing.
Cheerio and thanks

You can find it on French website Phonandroid.com, just google it, it will be easier. No new touchwiz notification panel, no major changes, just icons and animations is changed. But it works really fast and it gives you permission to change default dialer

Yes, that was the only thing I was waiting for so long... try using "Good Lock" app from google store (if it's not available then google it - there is a link, it changes a lot of things like notification panel, new lock screen, user interface, works great so far!
I know it's a basic function, but I've had it on every Android I've had in the last 5 years. Without xposed my phone feels so basic and I have to turn on the screen to change track.
Is there any ROM for our phone with this function built in? I don't care about any other features so anything else is a bonus. I couldn't see it in any of the features for the ROMs available
Appreciate any help.
I believe resurrection remix has it. Or at least I had it on my OPO.
I miss that function aswell. And not to mention pie controls and ad block. Might aswell start flashing custom ROMs
Carbon rom have it, im currently using it
thanks for your replies guys. I'll check them out
You could also do this with a MacroDroid macro or a tasker scene, no need for a custom rom if you're happy otherwise

hi for the last year or so i've been working on designing a custom environment for android, i just released a custom navigationbar app called arc lighting navigationbar on the playstore allthough it has been used and tested on galaxy devices such as the note 9 it works on any other phone too, this app will let you customize the navigationbar extensively, which includes changing each button back, home, recent apps to various icons both presets and icons from any iconpack, you can also place colored layers behind the icons, each color can also follow your wallpaper or app, you can customize it so much that you can turn it into a taskbar for desktop use meaning you can use any phone as a pc without a seperate environment such as samsung dex, the app is called arc lighting navigationbar, i couldn't possibly describe everything it can do so you'd have to test it i don't think theres anything you can think of that you can't do with when it comes to customization, whats left is the dockmenu for true desktop and mobile environment but the developer i am working with does not want to finish the work until this app gets traffic as i owe him too much money for the work he did.
here you can see it on a s9+ https://www.facebook.com/symetium/videos/441167859757603/

honestly it means a lot when someone truly appreciates my work i have to go through a lot of 1 star ratings for really weird reasons such as too complicated or uses too many permissions so it's nice when someone actually appreciates it thank you, and yes it is difficult to figure out as i wanted customization per button rather than all 3 at once, i could have made it simpler and had one light control for all buttons at once but each button has it's own full set of settings icon, color, light indicator, movement, layer etc i don't find it complicated as i designed it but i understand if other people do.
I'm impressed. To be able to do that without root is awesome since this thing is in root limbo. As soon as I have 6 bucks I'll donate. I'm on an N9... Can't get the advanced option to work... Any thoughts?

well i am really sorry to say but the advanced option does not work on galaxy phones for some reason so the app has been made to block the advanced option to function, we tried to get it to work but it crashes the phones ui theres something with oneui so you'd need to use the mode that requires no root or software, the difference between advanced and simple is simply no transparency theres no other difference so you get all the same features as advanced but instead of modifying the navigationbar it will place one ontop of the old one i recommend doing this with gesture navigation enabled as then you get a very thin navigationbar as well as the gesture navigation, but i am so sorry for this i should have been more clear on that, made me sad considering you liked the app.
Sounds great. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
