Help resetting on oneui 3.1 - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Hi. I'm using s10 5g running android 11. After updating to android 11 my phone does lag a lot so i decided to reset my phone. Since my power button is broken so i can only reset via Settings. I have something to ask you:
My Secure Folder contains a lot of files, can i reset without losing them?
Will resetting solve my lag? apps even reset when I back to home, use other app and back to that app. it also takes me up to ~10s from tapping shutter button to taking pic. Camera sometimes out when swipe to "other modes".
Which section in reset in settings equivatlent to factory reset/wipe /cache, dalvik and wipe /data? I previously use TWRP to reset but i cant now (broken power button). Resetting options of samsung really confuse me.
Can reset in Settings be done without power button?
Thank you

Destroyed my Reset Button

I had some problems with my Touch Dual which forced me to reset it by means of the reset button. Now finally it seems that I've destroyed the button
Since I need Hard Reset (system is locked and I cannot enter the requested "a1b2c3" sequence) just removing the battery is not sufficient.
I there an alternative way to force a Hard Reset?
I think...
Start > Settings > System > Clear Storage
...is the same as a hard reset, other alternative is to reinstall a rom...
Reflash a ROM if you have one.
I also wouldn't be surprised to find there is an mtty command that does it too - check the wiki.
Is there an SSPL for the Niki that would allow people to run mtty commands? not sure but worth checking into...
Found out that with SKTool one can perform a hard rest, too. Works perfect and finally solves my reset button problem
BTW: HTC rejected to fix the button problem, very very very poor service ...
do they have a reset button, cos mine doesn't. i usually have to take the battery out.
which reset button, if you mean the little one in the back you can hard reset by holding red and green buttons when you switch on

Power Button Dead - another way to flash roms via hard reset?

Hi Everyone,
Of course - it had to happen to me, one in a million; with the power button dead on my htc touch hd, is there any other way to do a hard reset, particularly when upgrading roms? As instructions are very precise to ensure you do a hard reset after flashing.
For me, the volume buttons combined with the top power button method don't work. - And unfortunetly, the unit is out of warranty.
Appreciate any suggestions, or any other methods possibly in trying to hard reset for flashing? Guess I'll give anything a go... 8)
thanks in advance.
Woz.
Clear Storage.
Use Clear Storage to reset your device back to factory default settings.
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap All Settings.
2. On the System tab, tap Clear Storage.
3. Enter “1234” and then tap Yes.
This is a hard reset via software.
~thank-you~ wasn't sure if this was an acceptable method for flashing, but new rom is now working well.
Cheers.

Bootloop on an unrooted Iconia

Couldn't find a thread with precisely same situation - this morning I left my Iconia with WiFi off on standby with plenty of battery left (70ish %), only to just find it powered off. Now when I try to power it on, it stays in the Android boot animation and doesn't go anywhere from there.
And like I said in the title, it isn't rooted or in any other way hacked, so this is really weird. I think a factory reset would make it work, maybe, but if anyone has any other ideas I'd love to hear them before resorting to wiping.
Also I have no idea how to do a factory reset without CWM. Long press reset button doesn't seem to work?
Hold Volume Down while turning Power On?
Nope...it tries to run update.zip

A simple method for wiping is described in this thread.
Alternatively you can connect an USB keyboard, boot to recovery (vol-down + power) and press HOME on the keyboard. This will open a menu where you can select factory reset.
It got stuck at "Erasing cache" but I just shut it down and rebooted, now it started. Thanks a lot. Somehow I think I'm going to root it now and put CWM so I won't have to lose all my data because STOCK ROM crashes for some weird reason and I don't have a backup.
in my opinion u should just go ask for replacement....

[Q] How can i hard reset my phone in this situation?

Ok so im running custom Paranoid cyanogenmod android rom v1.5 and i need to hard reset all information in my phone.
I've tried doing the both volume buttons and power button to hard reset, but that didnt work, even my messages stayed.
I've tried doing factory reset in option, didn't work either.
When im entering aMAGDLR V1.13 recovery( pressing power button til i enter boot menu) there is an option for AD hard reset or just reset and i think they might work, but the key problem to this is that my calling button isnt working and i just cant choose anything in the boot menu..Any ideas if i could hard reset with pc or in any other way?
Have you tried resetting from within android?
System settings > Privacy (I think) > Factory Reset **BE CAREFUL, this might format your sdcard, I'm not sure. So either keep the card out (If you're not doing a2sd or similar stuff, or back it up**
Also, for the device hard reset, it's volume UP only.. But I think it was part of windows mobile ROMs so it might not work with MAGLDR.
Another option for you to try is to reflash MAGLDR. That might erase your stuff, but I don't know how you'll put CWM back since your CALL key is not working.
Sorry, I don't have the HD2 anymore and I'm kind of rusty.. Hope the above helps

[Q] pin incorrect after cache wipe

Posting for a friend here. Running the Verizon note 3 on what I assume is the most up to date stock software.
Basically he informed me that he wiped cache from recovery because his phone "was having issues" after he rebooted his home screen pin unlock is saying he entered the wrong pin. Is there any way short of a factory reset that will fix this. Thanks for your help

We'd need a bit more info but here goes.
If he's pure stock they can try going into download mode and doing a hard reset. Turn off phone and follow these steps.
1) Press and hold the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time. For about 5 to 8 seconds, the phone will reload.
2) Release all buttons as soon as you see the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 logo.
3) In the Android system recovery mode, use the volume rocker to highlight wipe data/factory reset, and then press the Power button to select.
4) Select Yes — delete all user data
5) Next, select reboot system now.
He'll have to redo his apps and stuff all over again but he'll be into his phone.
If he is rooted and running a custom rom just reboot and hit safestrap recovery button on start up and reflash rom. You are assuming he on just stock software but we aren't 100% sure.

I stated that he was running stock. He is trying to find a way to do this without wiping data as he has information he doesn't have backed up that he doesn't want to loose
Thanks

I don't know what else he can do other than hard resetting the phone. Did he save it to his sd card or internal storage? If it's on his sd card he's fine. If it's on his internal storage I don't know what else to do. I don't think there's any software for that as it's his phone but bypassing the pin lock any other way might be considered phone piracy and I doubt the xda governing bodies will let that be posted here even if something existed. There was some software for the s3 that let you put your imei number back on your phone if you lost it flashing roms but xda had to not let it be posted here as it could have been used to activate a stolen phone. I don't know what else to do to help. He may have to bite the bullet on this one unless someone else knows something I don't.
