What's the best android 11 version? - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi all
I recently purchased and SU/rooted my OP8pro and currently on version 11.0.5.5 international*
I'm always getting the update notifications however I'm worried it will compromise my root..
How can I update ( should I update?) and keep Root ?

Check if the newer version is rootable then upgrade.
Or look if supersu has update support in which it won't compromise the root access

And if you want to update, update if not then don't.

Thanks, I've got a few magisk modules installed already but do you know a way to simply hide/mute those system notifications?
Appreciated

Try disabling notification access for the updater app

K do you want u mean through the default settings or via magisk or something?

With default settings.

Steps to upgrade and keep root:
1- Uninstall ALL Magisk modules (if you have any). Reboot to System.
2- install Oos.zip with Settings > Local upgrade . Do NOT reboot!!!
3- Open Magisk > Install. Choose (Install to inactive slot after' OTA).
5- Reboot to system.
Re-install modules one by one so you know if one of them cause issue.

I run 11.0.7.7 EU on mine with Magisk 23.0 and as modules I use Riru, LSPosed, Gravitybox R, Dolby Atmos (with EQ), Swift Installer module, BusyBox, Magisk hide, CTS profile fix and systemless hosts. Works fine.

They're all rootable, they're all the same pretty much, so the latest would be the best

Yep, very small changes unless you alter the base (10-11) but even then it's minor cosmetic changes.
Couldn't speak for the beta but the stock is as I've said, I wouldn't imagine the beta to be too dissimilar

Beta is awesome! And always with new options/features, wich will be on stable later, Much later.
I use open beta since OnePlus 3. Still use it. Too bad that is show up after Months.

Yeah it is but buggy af though sometimes

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Only problem is that I have no time do even tgink about this at the moment.. Is there a way to hide/ disable system notifications? It gets annoying and sometimes I almost install the updates..

Xposed install guide

Hi all,
First off, backup everything and you do this at your own risk!
Okay, so you'll need a unlocked bootloader, twrp recovery and a rooted system with supersu installed.
Download the following
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3383776&d=1435601440
http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/sdk23/arm64/xposed-v83-sdk23-arm64.zip
Install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
Open SuperSU and leave it running in the background. Open Xposed app, click on framework and select soft reboot. You should now get a popup from SuperSU requesting access from the xposed app.
After reboot, browse to the following location. / system / EMUI / base / prop , open the local.prop file and locate the line "ro.config.hwtheme = 1". Once you have located the line, change from 1 to 0. Save the file and reboot to twrp recovery.
Install the xposed-v83-sdk23-arm64.zip, once installed click on wipe Dalvik cache.
Reboot and test.
The first reboot after the install can take up to 10 mins, don't panic its normal!
You can update to the latest version of xposed-v85-sdk23-arm64.zip after this, but for whatever reason v85 doesn't work when installing first.
Cheers,
Paul
Hi,
Thx for this!
I've a question: is it possible to use Xposed but to have possibility to change theme?
Because with "ro.config.hwtheme = 0" the theme app is down (normal i think) but the theme is ..... not very pretty :/
Thanks, sorry for my english!
Do v83 have some serious bugs or its ok to use?!

The setting does not work intermittently, won't load, tried on two Honor 5c so far, latest version as well as xposed-v85.1-sdk23-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam-20160530.zip - a reboot fixes but may be other issues as only had the phone for a week or so. Any solution?
There is no need to disable Huawei Theme Engine. Just flash Xposed v86 (or any version later than 86) and you're good to go. No build.prop and local.prop edits needed.

I had exactly the same problem, and to make it even worst I was having crashes when trying to call someone and also unable to receive calls. Sometimes a reboot would fix the situation but then it was back again. Are you facing the same problems with newer versions of xposed?
@Liffeyman Could you update the thread to the most recent xposed and installer? And also the change of the value inside the file is not needed anymore. Check this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-workaround-running-xposed-t3338765/
Mike_Wasawsky, didn't notice any other issues but settings won't launch - it was also the case with p9 lite. However, I am currently using Xposed framework 86.1 (custom build by wanam / 20160904) on build NEM-L51C432B120 and settings works most of the time if not all the time (I think I had to reboot once, not sure whether it was p9 Lite or 5c). Same version is also on a p9 lite and working OK. I would advise you to use latest Wanam build.

Thank you very much. I tried it anyway and I'm having the same issues.
I've been exploring this situation and realised that the problem wasn't specifically Xposed, but some of the modules.
I always use Youtube background, Youtube adAway and xInternalSD. Only installing youtube background it goes fine, but when I activate one of the others or both of them the problem starts again, randomly crashes settings and I can not make or receive calls, because the call app crashes too. :/
Why dint u tried from official site of rovo

passing safetynet with magisk 10.2 on x727 or x720?

It's working for me with android pay.
Safetynet is passing for me using Magisk v9 & phh's Superuser r266-2, but a new version of each was released last week that chatter in other forums seem to suggest device-specific trouble with. I might try but first wanted to know if anyone else in the LePro3 world already has and had problems. My current interest in safetynet is for Android Pay and DirectvNow.

Linked method is outdated ever since the introduction of November security patch.
Magisk V10 and phh SU r266 working fine for me on 20s
Upgrading worked for me too and I like how safety net check is part of the new status screen.
Seems like known issue but installing Xposed caused safetynet to fail, both before and after upgrade. Uninstalling Xposed caused safety net to pass again.
Root working and safetynet still passing on my x727 after taking the Magisk Manager upgrade to Magisk 11.1 and MagiskSu.
are all of you on a stock ROM and bootloader locked, I am using lineage OS 13, but safety net fails? do you have any idea how to fix this, just wanted to use ANDROID PAY, or do I need to be on STOCK ROM, just don't like the EUI and the status bar icons and the way they look(it's just me). Any help would greatly be appreciated=)
I am on stock ROM and unlocked bootloader. Magisk lets the unlocked bootloader stay. I don't see how safetynet could be expected to fully pass on a non-OEM supported ROM, especially over the longhaul of the cat-and-mouse game.
I don't like EUI either but changing out the launcher and even the notifications pulldown with Play Store apps helps immensely, along with using Titanium to freeze the bloatware. The main EUI remnants left after that is the lockscreen, the settings application, and the recents screen which I tolerate so as to have safetynet.
I could not pass safety net, got CM13, with MAGISK installed. Dang=)

Hi, Did this but after installing MAGISK, everything passed, except FINGERPRINT got disabled, says hardware not supported. Android Pay works, just went to gas station and tried it, works flawlessly. FINGERPRINT is the problem I'm seeing now. Thanks for any help.

Yup, what boot image did you install? I think the problem was the boot image I used, are you on the 20's now? thanks
I am running the aboot from dr4stic's 19s unlocked bootloader zip, everything else is from the stock 20s OTA zip.
Ok, I have spent several hours trying to make it work and now time to ask for help. I got Leeco LePro 3 with custom Ron based on EUI, and trying to get Magisk working. First I tried installing system less SuperSU and Magisk, but it failed safety check multiple times, so I tried uninstalling SuperSU and use Magisksu, but not I am not able to move forward. I installed Magisk manager and when it try to install Magisk manager it downloads but doesn't show way to install it, I even try flashing Magisk 12 zip using TWRP, but it fails to update. Can someone please help me with getting Magisk working with safety check?

Installing custom ROM without root issues

I used to have an LG G3 which I rooted and installed custom ROMs on. I stopped doing this for my LG G5 when my bank app and Pokemon Go started checking for root and would refuse to run on rooted devices.
I see that it is possible to install TWRP without rooting my LG G6.
Does this mean that I can install custom ROMs on my phone without the root detection causing me issues for these apps?
Thank you

Just use Magisk (Fulmics has it included in the aroma installer) and you can hide root to the apps with MagiskHide and pass the safetynet.

Thanks. I looked up Magisk. If this app would keep itself up-to-date that would be awesome.
I guess for now I'd rather not have to rely on Magisk, since I might have to wait for updates to it, when my my banking app updates it's safetynet code.

Didn't understand nothing. Magisk allows to hide root from the app you choose and doesn't break safetynet at all, and safetynet is not app-related but system-related so you should wait for updates only in case of android updates that break some function of magisk.

I assumed safteynet is built into the applications, such as my banking app. I thought that they can update safteynet within the app and thus break the hiding of root.

Don't know if it's built in Android or in the GServices but it's a google thing, not an app one =)
Still, with magisk your device could stop passing safety net any when Google decides to raise the standards. You would then have to wait for magisk to update and pass the safety net test again, or decide to (temporarily) uninstall magisk.

"Battery level full" - Any solutions to disabling this notification?

I am running rooted Swift and Fast B170 ROM on one XT and stock B180 on another and have yet to find a way to disable this seemingly system based notification. On my rooted device I tried to install Xposed but ran into a boot loop issue after installing the framework so I am inclined to think that isn't a possible route to a solution. The OS notification center is pretty useless in managing app notifications and the battery notification doesn't seem to be tied to a specific app anyway.
Does anyone have any ideas how to disable the notification?
So I ended up disabling the System UI notifications all together. And that works but I'm pretty sure its going to disable other important notifications controlled by System UI. If anyone has any true solutions let me know.
Xposed can be installed on the Ascend XT. Search for my Xposed thread. I'm using Magisk Systemless Xposed v87.1.
Why not just swipe away the battery full notification. Yes, you've probably killed other things too by disabling SystemUI.

Because it's a nuisance, and I've notice with some games that notification (w/sound) will kill all in game sounds until the game is restarted. But that's just my 2¢

yes it can pop up at the most inopportune time and its honestly a useless notification in the bar that is distracting. notifications shouldnt be in the bar that i should ignore.
@mattzeller and like i said before i tried installing Xposed before i believe the regular installer and that went fine but when i installed the framework and rebooted it kept boot looping at the android logo and i had to reflash the Swift and Fast ROM.
I plan on exploring the Xposed install that divineBliss mentioned I just need to backup my current ROM first and then double check all of the steps required. I hope it works. cause it really is a distracting notification.

Using systemless Xposed is a fairly straightforward process. This is the way I got it working on mine since Magisk wouldn't flash because of the modified boot.img and would only modify stock, you don't have to flash the ROM like I did, but I was doing cleanup and reflash anyway.
1. Download all required files and put them on your external SD card.
a. Swift&Fast: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=72258982
b. Magisk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=68966662
2. Make sure you have the correct boot.img for the firmware version you are using, can't use B160 boot.img on B170 ROM, it causes wifi problems. I extracted boot.img from @madvane20 's Swift&Fast ROM since that's what I am running.
3. Do all necessary wipes and flash ROM, do NOT reboot yet.
4. Flash extracted boot.img (select img in TWRP to show *.img files) do NOT reboot yet.
5. Flash Magisk (I'm using current/stable)
6. Wipe caches and reboot.
7. Boot your phone, open Magisk Manager and go to Downloads and install Xposed Framework (SDK 23). I got an error here trying to download and install. I fixed it by adding the folder Magiskmanager to internal sdcard.
8. Download and install latest Xposed installer for systemless Xposed. The link for that is in the Magisk module information for Xposed.
9. Reboot (got a kitK Kat? It's gonna be a while) and everything should be working.
Occasionally after a reboot you can't open settings(Xposed issue), just reboot again, should clear that up.

Although I'm sure there's a way via xposed to disable the notification, I haven't found it yet. The xEMUI module has some nice tweaks, but nothing related to that.
Perhaps via appOpsXposed, or via stopReceiverBroadcasts... remove the ability for SystemUI to see the charging related events..?

Thanks -n0cturne- for the xEMUI tip. I have been dying to center the clock in EMUI w/o having to use FSBI. FSBI works really well, but slows everything down.

Disable update notification on OOS 10.0.0

Hi,
I am on OOS 10.0.1 and plan to downgrade to 10.0.0. I know that once i do that, i will get a constant reminder on my notification bar about updating to 10.0.1. Is there a way to disable that message from showing up? I tried blocking or disabling it from android's notification settings on my wife's phone as she is already on 10.0.0, but it says it can't be disabled.
Thanks!

Yes, it's possible, but you'll have to be rooted with Magisk for that. I have a Magisk module that I use myself that spoofs the prop which the system updater reads. The prop is from the latest version of OOS, so the system updater will tell you you're on the latest version and won't have that nagging persistent notification. Let me know if you need it.
Yeah, sound great! I have magisk so this will definitely come in handy. Thanks!

Attached with this post. Install the module, reboot, clear data of the System Update system app from settings, reboot, profit. You may have to check for an update for it to remove that notification (it'll remove it once it detects you're on the latest version).
Thanks, will downgrade this weekend and give it a try!
