8227L FM radio app and steering wheel control - Android Head-Units

Hello everyone!
I have simple question regarding SWC buttons mapping and switching radio stations by SWC.
Im using a resistive-based SWC controls connected to head unit by KEY-1(or Key-2. dont remeber, but there should be no difference at all). And I mapped << and >> buttons on SWC to the buttons in applicanion as in the picture below. There no other options for 'next' and 'prev' than those in red circles, so obviously I used them.

And it works very well with built-in MP3 (and video) player - switches next/prev song or video correctly. So absolutely no issue there - works as expected.
But using SWC witch FM radio app seems to be a little annoying.
There are 4 buttons to switch radio stations with built-in app:
RED - switches between stations saved in memory (white). To save stations in memory I have to use 'Search' button(GREEN) and takes several seconds, because it scnans whole FM range, 87 - 107 MHz.
YELLOW - Scans FM frequency till finds next (or prev) stong FM signal (radio station). In other words those buttons works as original bmw head unit. And this is what I would expect by using << and >> buttons.
Unfortunately mapping next/prev buttons[ like on first pic] actually uses functionality of RED ones. And its annoying because if I do scan, then drive another 30-50 km there will be for sure only noise on most of saved stations.
So, I think that I explained what I meant. And there are 2questions from me.
1. I assume there is no way to change SWC mapping in existing fm app. Is available other FM app where prev/next works as YELLOW buttons?
2. How does it work in your head units? (using steering wheel control only ) does it cycles through stations in memory? or quick scans till next strong fm signal? what kind of SWC is used in your car - resistive (key1, key2) od data-bus like CAN etc?
Thanks in advanc 4 feedback!

It doesn't matter if you use key1 or key2 to connect SWC. Some cars have key1 and key2 because they have buttons on both sides of the steering wheel with separate circuits.
The problem is just your radio app doesn't handle the next and previous events according to your needs. The radio app is extremely hardware related and part of an huge main application building the bridge between Android and hardware. So I think you won't find a radio app according to your needs. For me that was one more reason to use a DAB+ USB adapter and the app DAB-Z.

andriod head unit factory setting menu

I have installed an Andriod 4.2.2 Head unit in my 2013 dodge challenger, this is a unbranded unit,
I have been trying to get my SWC to work.
I can enter a "Factory settings menu" with the Password "126" this allowed me to change logo etc.
there are many options under canbus settings in this menu under "Applications"
Mine is currently set to jeep (union) there are other options ie jeep hiworld , Chrysler and many others.
I have searched for posts that explain these menu,s with no success.
My handbrake canbus radio interface works OK but not the SWC.
can I do any harm trying other settings?
The supplier of the radio just tells me to hook up key1 and key 2 wire and ground, however my radio installer
tells me these are only for resistive touch buttons.
The unit was supplied and installed with a canbus adaptor.
Can anyone help me or point me to a thread that explains this.
Thanks Mike
Its a HuiFei type unit (its not unbranded - there are about 10 brands), read the HuiFei thread.
Most steering controls work by sending a certain voltage down the wire that your head unit interprets. Like 160 mhz is play/pause while 190 mhz is volume up. (those numbers arent accurate, but you should get the jist). This type of controls is a direct analog type and what the chinese units use to intrepret your control data.
Some cars,I'm guessing yours is one of them, use a digital signal that can't be interpreted by the analog wires that come from harness. You'd need an SWC interface as a go between for your car and HU.

Or a CAN Bus adapter from the manufacturer of his unit. but as I said earlier all the info he needs is in the HuiFei thread . . .
Re Headunit
Thanks guys, so as I interpret this I need a further adaptor additional to the canbus adaptor supplied by the head unit manufacturer.
I would still be interested in finding an explaination of the factory settings menu ,the one you need the password to enter, as I can not find a post on this?
Hi everyone, I need help with my HU. I followed the factory guidance to set up the wiring and installation but my camera lines appears 90 degrees (from the left) instead of the center. I have tried mirroring, no luck. Please see picture. Can someone help me please.

Peugeot 508 aftermarket radio no powering on

Hello!
I have a very strange problem with my android radio in my 508. When I'm trying to connect it with delivered canbus decoder, it's simply not powering on. I tried various combinations with power supply to the unit but without positive result yet. The only way that turns my radio on is bypassing power supply of canbus box and conecting it directly to power in on the unit. I thought that maybe canbus decoder is defective, so I returned it to supplier and received new one...still no success. I have red many manuals and forums but I cannot find the answer how to power on the unit with canbus decoder. I really need it to be connected because I need steering wheel buttons and readings from car computer (like AC, fuel consumption etc.). I know that to maintain it, power supply must be connected to canbus decoder, which triggers signal to power on the unit. Somehow it just doesn't work. I measured voltage on power harness, there is a good reading. I have also readings on canL and canH line. Everything is good on input side to canbus, on output I have zero...just like canbus is not working.
My radio is 1din android 8 unit equipped with canbus decoder:
decoder: MH (PA-SS-05)20180402
SS-PA0503271018-2
For: Peugeot 2008
P/N 1801300412
Software: PSA V2.27 005BYPS
Unit: MCU version: MTCE_MX2_V2.83_1

Hi,
I know it's a long time since your post, but I just installed an Android Head unit in my Peugeot 508 with JBL Sound, and the decoder I received was one for Peugeot 407, maybe that's why it's not working?
Also I cannot see your photos, they are most likely not online anymore.
Android radio
Hi
Did you find a solution for this issue.

Car builtin display shows "mute" on audio menu after installing Android Unit.

Car builtin display shows "mute" on audio menu after installing Android Unit.
I installed this radio, it works, steering wheel buttons work. Only thing is the display audio menu in the car shows "mute" regardless of what channel is in (FM1, FM2, DVD, AUX etc). The radio is not mute. The canbus decoder is connected. Any idea?

I had something similar a few days ago.
In my Joying I have with the steering wheel buttons in third party apps problem. Then I have to test the CAN BUS adapter infected by the Old Joying radio. After a After a restart I also had Audio Mute. However, the buttons and knobs on the radio were no longer synonymous.
In the radio app, I could not select a station.
Then I exchanged the CAN BUS adapter again and then it ran well.

Sorry but I don't think I understand what you are saying. Do you have a mercedes benz with cluster display that was showing mute or what? Also, you changed the can bus, you mean the canbus decoder or a setting in the radio? My unit doesn't have access to factory settings menu.

I have a VW and there I exchanged the canbus adapter. After that, I had the problem that I no longer had an audio output. Mute was displayed on the car radio with me.

PX30 Android steering wheel control problem Opel/Vaukhall Corsa C

I 've recently bought PX30 Android 8.1 multimedia for my Corsa C /2004-2006/.
Everything is functional except two things: no vehicle info readings and steering wheel controls are not working. There are three buttons on left and right rudder, on Steering wheel APK only volume up and down are shown on the right rudder are shown and I cannot assign any key.
Under factory settings on multimedia right Canbus is choosen and steering wheel assign button option are enabled.
And worth mentioning when I installed reverse camera I tried to connect reverse detective wire that goes along RCS video cable on the headunit side to connect to reverse detective wire that comes out of the canbus and camera didn't work. I got camera functionality only when connecting reverse detection wire with corresponding wire from headunit.
AliExpress told me I need to conect KEY2 wire that goes from headunit to SWC wire from native powercable for car stereo but I haven't managed to detect that wire. On wiring diagram for factory radio there is male connector for power cable that has pins for RSA SWC and RSA GND but on the corresponding female eurojack connector powercable there are no corresponding pins only empty plastic holes.
Any suggestion, I think that Canbus is faulty because it's not reading car information or I need to rewire cable connections ?
Thanks

Those are pics, last one is seller suggestion for rewiring which is impossible with available wiring diagrams, does anyone knows which pin from circled square handle SWC?

Can anyone point our where WIFI antenna is (is it integrated with 4G cellular?) and where internal SIMM card (not the one on a cable) could be?
I thought WiFi was integrated with the 4G antenna, too.
Turns out the two stubby (in my case, white) wires poking out of the RCA backup camera harness are external WiFi and Bluetooth antennas. Go figure.
Forgive my ignorance - Topway is the manufacturer and they all run the same firmware?

According to the manual I have, the antennas are actually what Patman27 is saying - "two stubby (in my case, white) wires poking out of the RCA backup camera harness are external WiFi and Bluetooth antennas".
Here is how this looks in in my manual.
I was wondering if there is a way to improve the abovementioned antennas?

I believe so. Topway makes the MCU, and wrote & supports the "factory" ROM with the magic Bluetooth, Radio, etc. apps that play nice with it. It may then be up to the reseller to configure which features are turned on or off on the unit.
That's the impression I have from scouring XDA forums.

Maybe? I'm not versed in WiFi antenna design, so I don't think it's as simple as soldering on an arbitrarily long wire.
If you find something will you share it here? I'm curious, myself.
To add antenna it should be as easy as adding pigtail with RP-SMA or SMA (depending on the antenna you want to attach) to the connector (not the current 'antenna' wire). Problem is that there will be signal leakage at the connector since it's not shielded and some of the power will be lost due to impedance mismatch. Connect to both, ground and wifi signal of course. Without being able to limit transmit power this modification can cause a lot of unwanted interference - so figuring how to control tx power should be the first step, IMO.
On different topic, all touch controls (including side 'buttons' and screen) on my radio stopped responding recently, but returned after pressing reset through reset hole - has anyone experienced that? Steering wheel buttons were working and I could control the apps (that seemed to work fine) through them. I wonder how to troubleshoot this w/o touch access?
Hi, I had to restore the factory settings, after that all the applications on navigation are gone. I can't even install anything because the play store app is gone too. What now? How should I install play store app now ?
