Hi,
I hope everyone is fine. Nexus 6P has 3GB RAM. I want to reduce the RAM size i.e., I want to bring RAM to 1GB or 512 MB for my research purpose. Can anyone please guide how can I reduce RAM size using ramdisk and how can I use that so that my application only see 1GB or 512 MB?
Thanks

Does anyone know exactly how much ram the focus have, I have seen statement from different sources with 256mb ram or 512mb ram.
I have the HTC 7 Mozart, are they the same phone apart from the screen and design.
Thanks
it has 512 mb ram
Thanks for your reply
Hi, I've just noticed that if I go under Settings>Applications, I see 144MB used and 386MB Free, resulting in a total of 528MB of RAM, so I am wondering what is going on with the almost half gigabyte of RAM missing, is this allocated for the OS?
Buddy, what you're seeing is free ram and ram used by your apps. The ram you are NOT seeing is being used by the actual OS.
thanks buddy, that is what I was actually thinking.
Vega has 512 MB of RAM but the tegra 2 GPU takes 128mb , so "real" Ram memory is 380, as seen on Set Cpu.
on LG device it is possible to change value from 128 to 64 MB RAM of the Tegra 2 SOC,they say initially was set to 64 ,as seen on this post
I assume this "hack" has to be implemented through a kernel change?
Am i wrong?
Could someone with skills have a look into it?
Maybe with more memory apps would run more smooth...
Wat is the Ram memory in ideos?????

I have the bestbuy version 104 I think, two cameras but with resistive touch screen and I see through quadrant it has 416mb of RAM and some other system info program
Sent from my IDEOS S7 using XDA App
does 416mb include swap and cache? i thought it was more like 256meg ram, 128 swap, 32 meg cache = 416
It doesn't have swap; it doesn't need it. It has 512mb ram with some of it allocated by the system for low-level functions like the radio, GPU framebuffer, camera firmware and such.
I have u8800, not pro. Using legorom gingerbread. device is only showing 345MB of ram. Doesn't it has 512 MB ram
Because a lot of memory RAM consumes system, graphics,...
Not free memory. Total RAM 345 MB.
The one used by graphics isn't shown in running application??
Edit:- Did some search and the reserved ram is not shown in running services. Thanx
Thats normal if you buy a 8gb flashdrive you only have 7.7gb and if you have a 250gb hdd you can only use 230gb

Yes, it always happen. In specification sheet of external hard disk or flash drive. 1GB is treated as 1000MB(mine does) not 1024MB(actual size)
My phone also have 512mb ram and I installed 32mb ram hack. My phone is LG Optimus 2x speed

The real reason is that graphics takes 128MB for itself. Then, the kernel needs some memory for the display itself (the pixels) and for video decoder/encoder.
So in total you will have about ~350MB of usable RAM for apps (including Android).
