So I'm looking to get a Samsung Tab S6 Lite LTE (Wi-Fi version isn't available in my country) and all the custom recoveries and ROMs are all for the Wi-Fi only version (SM-P610, gta4xlwifi) not the LTE version (SM-P615, gta4xl).
I don't plan on using the LTE capabilities at all. My question is that, if I flash non-LTE recovery/ROM on the SM-P615, will it brick the tablet?

gta4xlwifi builds would probably boot but e.g LTE (obviously), GPS and Audio won't work probably as these are different.
Anyways I do support the LTE model (gta4xl) in my unofficial builds (it's just not official because I only own wifi model myself), see here:
[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][gta4xl/gta4xlwifi][11] LineageOS 18.1 for Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
I need opinion if this Rom is working well? I want to buy Tab S6 lite but I hate Samsung rom, and I'd buy this device only if custom rom is working well, i like lineage os. Thanks

Damn, that's a shame. I thought only LTE wouldn't work. I'm not gonna really use GPS, since I'm just gonna be using it to watch movies and such, but audio is a big deal-breaker.
Thank you though, you probably saved me a lot of troubleshooting.
I suppose I'm gonna be able to only use Lineage, since that's the only one that kinda supports it.
I just have another question, would this happen even if I only used the recovery for the Wi-Fi model, not the ROM?

No, but what would you want to do with lineage recovery on stock anyways ...
All the stuff is working fine on lineage tho! In case you misunderstood me ... you just need to flash the right build for your model.

I meant that I wanted to flash TWRP, but I could only find it for the Wi-Fi model. I would then use your unofficial Lineage build for ROM.
I'm more comfortable with TWRP than anything, and encryption isn't really a problem for me, since I'll use multidisabler-samsung to decrypt it.
Either way I'm not gonna install a custom ROM until Samsung stops offering OTA updates for this tablet. I just like installing TWRP on all of my devices as a sort of failsafe in case anything goes wrong. From TWRP it's a simple wipe data then reflash, instead of using Odin and having to flash everything. For now, I just use it to install Magisk and then I don't touch it again until I need it again (when Samsung decides that this tablet is no longer important enough to support and decides to stop updating it).

Hi there!
I'm planning to buy a Galaxy Tab S6 lite LTE version.
Is there an official LTE Lineage OS on the way or does that mean that only WiFi is the one and will always be the only official one? Is there a reason why the LTE version isn't officially supported?
Thanks in advance!

Literally the only reason is that I only own the wifi model myself, but I actually said that in the post you quoted.
Anyways thinking about doing it for LTE model too but I can't promise anything yet.
Ah, yes. I'm sorry. Now I got it (right).
Thank you for clarification.

Hi guys, my dad is bring a n9008 back from China. It has the qualcom 800 cpu onboard. I have done alot research on this phone, and only found the guide to root and flash recovery. So my question is: is it possible to flash roms made for other variants( such as n9005) onto n9008? Since the n9008 won't support the wifi calling from TMO, i would rather put a CM or AOSP on it.

as always, you got your phone from china, get help there, in other words, if you want support, get yor phones in your own country, imagine this, you will get a warranty also, is not that amazing?, yes you save some money buying overseas, or from a no one knows about seller, but, at the end, you get no support, think abot that in the future,

well i got the phone as a gift. so its not my choice at first place.
so far i'm able to install all of the n9005 roms(x note, omega, lidroid) and everything works flawlessly.
the tmobile rom can be installed normally, but i just cant turn on the wifi( it stucks at turning on screen)
anyone got a solution to that?
Now you can install a CM11 ROM!
I too have been given a GN3 as a gift but it's the N9008 model.
I tried flashing the latest N9005 KK stock firmware, but I had no luck.
Do you know if there's a possibility of "changing" the model to a N9005? Hardware wise I believe they are exactly the same?
I imagine LTE is also not on this particular model? Am I correct to say that all Snapdragons are capable of having LTE? Would it be the firmware that "enables" LTE?
I don't really want to be on the Chinese firmware.
I've rooted the device and got gapps on their, but I'd rather a proper international firmware.
If anybody can help, it'd be great.

Ok mate Here is the Solution that worked for me... (if you want your native Language)
1.Install Offical Firmware from sammobile.com of Canada with Product Code : XAC
2.Root your device.
3.Download Language Enabler from the Play Store
And Walla.... Work perfectly for me.

Thank you for asking the stupid question I was too afraid to ask but needed the answer too. I just successfully rooted my SM-T530NU, next I was looking for a custom recovery. Does anyone know if recoveries that say they're for the SM-T530 will work for the NU version? Specifically, I was thinking about using the TWRP in this thread but I'm nervous about using a custom recovery with a different model number. If the only difference is in fact the IR blaster then I'm inclined to believe the custom recovery is safe, I just was hoping someone could give me some feedback so I wasn't going blind. Thanks in advance, any input is greatly appreciated
hi,
just a thought about compatibility, i'm working on a rom build for the sm-t531 which i run on my sm-t530nu [it runs on both]
the sm-t53xx are largely the same as well as nearly the same as the sm-t33xx's, it's likely that as long as you keep
your kenel and modules sorted, the roms can like be used interchangeably.
Further the same rom i'm working on boots on my sm-t330nu albeit with screen glitches.
goto gsmarena andmcompare the specs between the galaxy tab 4 10.1 and 4 8.0 and youll see what i mean.
so if one variants firmware or new firmware get a new feature it's probably highly and easily portable.

Thanks for the help I was more stuck on installing a custom recovery but I gave it a try and TWRP installed successfully. Now it's time to start playing around with some ROM(s). If you just give me another day to get acclimated to this tablet and learn my way around it, I'd be happy to start testing your rom or any others, if and when they are ready to be tested
So then what is different between the t530nu and T530NZWAXAR model? I have found both and am confused. I am looking at purchasing larger screened tablet. We currently own several smaller tablets and I wish to stick with Samsung as it has been the best manufactured one for are use, but am unclear if there is a difference.

If anyone wants to root their US cellular S6 Smg920r4 on 6.0.1, I know there's no section here for US Cellular, but this works perfect. It's the Sprint TWRP 6.0.1 Marshmallow root method. Just follow the instructions in the Sprint thread. Root in minutes thru Odin. Hope it helps someone else like me who was looking and looking for Sm-g920r4 specific root.

I've got xposed running with a few modules that are stable and somewhat supported on marshmallow. Again it's super easy to root your stock firmware on your US Cellular SM-G920R4 Galaxy S6. If anyone has any questions, please let me know. Thanks
Twrp
My s6 won't boot into system it boots into twrp recovery. And I did make a backup of my phone with Smart Switch and now Smart Switch tells my device is not supported. Any solutions?
What firmware were you on? Were you already on 6.0.1 and did you get it fixed yet
How did you get Xposed to work? Did you have to use a custom rom? If so what one did you use?
thank
Thank to me
I'm still hesitant to pull the trigger on this. I see questions being asked about things that I don't fully feel comfortable stressing about. Was this a successful way to root or a fluke that may work for some?
how to install edge screen on s6, just like s6 edge

For sure. US Cellular is small beans compared to the other major companies so its always been hard to find it. This is the first device I have ever struggled to find a way to do it though. All other took work, but this one is the only one so far that has been impossible.
I was able to get his ROM loaded onto my phone but there was a spot where I had to "select CSC" and US Cellular wasn't listed as one of them. I think T-Mobile and Rogers were the only USA companies that it had. Maybe I should have tried it by selecting T-Mobile or Rogers but I just didn't really know what to do. The one that I tried (which was a UK CSC - because it mentioned something about selecting it if yours wasn't listed..but I believe it was only talking about UK companies not listed) wound up getting the ROM to load but I had NO touch screen capabilities.
After 6 hours of getting that that point and having to reload the official Samsung ROM, I gave up and went to bed.
I wish I could find someone that has been through this already to lean on for some assistance but with this phone, it seems like no one has been first. Maybe that is my purpose in life.. But then again, I also don't want to completely brick my phone in the process. Maybe I'll try again tonight.
Hello, I was searching the forum and Google and didn't really find much.
I was wondering if the S7E had the ability to dual boot Roms? The goal for me is to have a N7 port on another slot than my standard rom that I'm running. I have a 935F.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
+1....but i don't think will have such thing thanks to exynos chip

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I recall being able to do it on my Nexus. I also believe my s5 had the option. It's been awhile though.

Yeah, too bad you can't do anything with the snapdragon on the S7E. I started out with a snapdragon, got so angry with it and traded it out for the 935F.

- tapatalked - from my VANTABLACK S7 EDGE
I also have exynos now. Nothing was "wrong" with it. I had a locked bootloader which limited the things I wanted to do. Trying to make Roms work the way I wanted was a PITA. Hence why I switched.
Dual boot is possible with Dual Boot Patcher on note 5 which I had before S7E , so that means it is possible for exynos chips but I don't know if our S7E is compatible with this app, as I decided not to root this time .

Thanks for the find!
Update: As of right now I cannot get it working. I get it to say "Switching rom" and then the rom stays the same. I will continue testing.
So, I tested it out and I was not able to get it to work. My initial problem was that aroma installers were not supported. I tried both TWRP and in app flashing. The error logs stated it failed to update the binary. I'm not a dev, nor do I pretend to be one so I have no idea how to fix that.

It is on the list of supported devices actually. That's why I was hopeful. Everything goes like it should, but when you switch to the rom nothing happens. Or you get it to say "Switched roms" and you are on the same rom. The dir isn't populated with the boot.img either so you can't manually flash it.

When I had the note 5 N920c some roms were successfully booting as a secondary rom and some perhaps most didn't because of twrp recovery, but there were moded twrps which solved these problems.
As I decided not to root then I don't know if there's a work around for S7E or not.

It will depend if its EXYNOS
If so you should be okay, If its Snapdragon then its locked and there is limited support.
The dual booter Patcher app, Bascailly allows you to installed selected ROM's in the Internal or External Memory.
And from within the App you select your Current ROM, Upon restarting the device will boot into the addtional ROM.
Now chenxiaolong is updating to Support android 7.0 And the dual booting is newly supported for the S7 Edge so it may be some time before its perfect
But keep in mind that the Root method Magisk is also bringing a Universal Dual boot so this may be another option.
CM builds are not yet created for this device, So it is only Stock ROMS you can dial boot

Thanks this is really helpful. Based on what I found online about the Snapdragon distribution, the US 100% snapdragon, so I think I'm going to pass on this brand/model. Any other recommendations for devices? I'm thinking the Google Pixel, or the 1plus3T. They are both really new phones, so I'm guessing they wouldn't be supported. So new to all this, my head is spinning.
Hey all, I have successfully achieved root on the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G SM-G977B. The process was simple due to it being the same process as topjohnwu already published. This is the official page for the instructions by topjohnwu which do work: topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root. If you struggle at any point feel free to reply and I will help where I can.
Currently TWRP doesn't work but I am spending time attempting to port it over. I am in no way an advanced developer but technology is my passion. So if I am successful and another developer hasn't already ported one over I'll be happy to post, but expect bugs. Due to this my device is currently unrooted but I can quickly root it and add pictures to prove .
Happy Rooting!.
Verizon Locked?
Are you in the US? The only way to currently buy it is through Samsung/Verizon and I am worried it may be locked to Verizon. Will that cause any issues in terms of rooting?

The US version of the Galaxy S10 5G Model is snapdragon 855 SM G977U and from a bit of search you won't be able to root
If you want to root your phone your going to need an Exynos version SM G977N Unlocked & SM G977B of the Galaxy S10 5G which he has above
Your going to have to wait until someone sells a unlocked version of the snapdragon even then don't know if you can still root

I'm new to this but does rooting depend on the phone being carrier unlocked? Or by "unlocked" you mean bootloader unlocked?

Exynos bootloader unlocked
Hey all, a proper guide with all the information will be posted soon in the meantime I am working on TWRP and will post updates on how I'm doing. If any developers want to potentially lend a hand then feel free to PM me or email me.

Currently I can successfully boot into TWRP by flashing a custom modified built using the s10+ device tree as a base with modifications to fit the s10 5g.
TWRP seems to work perfectly, and it seems that the current issue is all the security measures Samsung put in place. I have attempted modifying the multidisabler just by adding my version to the support list but while I do get further then without it. I still get stuck on Samsung logo before a reboot. And based in my limited knowledge on the script and also looking through the files as root previously it seems Samsung has changed a few files around. So that is were I am at.
Latest update: I am now working with ianmacd (the current maintainer of Unnofficial TWRP for the s10/+/e) to bring youse and myself a working twrp for our devices!, according to my observations and Ian's observations when building a custom kernel that the s10 5g is more different than the s10/+/e range so please be patient while me an Ian work on this. Based on everything he will now be the lead developer and I'll be the tester gathering all required files. I doubt my work will be used but it was fun experimenting with it and who knows maybe it could help. I'll continue to post updates

Hey there! Do you have any updates on this? I just received my new S10 5G today (coming from G975).
I saw @ianmacd mention this variant on his G97x TWRP thread... is it already working? Safe to patch AP with Magisk? What about the multidisabler?
Thanks mate!
I just seen that Sprint's US 5g ver has a boot loader that can be unlocked. I just checked on my fully updated Sprint 5g the setting is there. One step closer to root?
guys
do you know if exynos 5G will give 5G signal on tmobile ?
i want the 5G model
Any progress?
There seems to be a lack of progress in the recent days.
How are we going with it?
I am trying to make a rooting solution as I type this.

I'm actually considering purchasing this phone since I find out it's bootloader can be unlocked and there's root possibility.. I really hope it can be done.
no progress right ?
most people dont have the phone
and the root right now is for the B model which is going for 1500 on ebay
while the N model can be found for 700
N model needs root so badly
i want the 5G but due to lack of support i can't buy it
keeping the s10+ for now

I will not charge anything for the rooting to occur.
I wish to keep it free.

Exactly that.
I will charge $0.00 for the ability to root a Samsung Galaxy S10 5G.
Hey all, sorry for my lack in response. I'll post a post up shortly describing the current situation. Wish you all well.
God damn it, he managed to escape us for 3 months this time with out answering to our hails!
MarshiMello you fluffy white sugary softy! My husband has a very "similar" perhaps exactly the same perception of the word "SHORTLY" us Samsungites are onto you!.
Hello everybody,
I have an SM-G977B and I followed the root guide in the top of this thread.
Arrived at "Unlocking Bootloader" => "Long press volume up to unlock the bootloader." in download mode that option is not in the list and pressing volume up nothing happens.
By skipping that step with Odin I can only load original roms without the root.
How do I get the option to unlock the bootloader in the download mode menu?
Excuse me for the bad English,
best regards.
