Hi all,
I would like to use the Tab2 7 as a Kindle reader and don't need it for any other apps as such. I have used Slim 6, Slim 7 etc. etc.. and today I installed Resurrection Remix (Android 6 based). Speed seems to be good but once I install Gapps, it slows down a bit. I tried sideloading Kindle app but installation fails. (Tried Kindle V14.41-xx)
Any solution? (Searched a bit before posting, but couldn't get any solution so far)
Anyways, found solution. Instead of deleting the thread replying to my own post.
I figured out the issue that the APK , I was downloading was 64 bit and Tab 2 needs 32 bit version. Got a 32 bit version of KIndle app and able to install.

Hi all, I have one Kindle fire with CM7 working great (thanks developers!!!), but i have one question.....
I was using my kindle fire normally, with amazon S.O. Installed lot of apps and games from amazon market and others downloaded form internet. Then I installed FIREFIREFIRE + TWRP, installed CM7 throw TWRP and click on WIPE.....
But when my CM7 first start i see all my data still on device, at their folders, but apps and games dont. And i see lot of storage is full, but with which data? i think, maybe, games and apps installed before CM7 still mantain their data on my kindle Fire...... then my question is, where i must look for to delete that data and free that storage? Wich step must i folllow to clean my kindle system?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english, i was looking for another thread like this because lot of us have installed CM7 and i think we must have same problem, but no lucky.
Hey guys i have a Kindle Fire i rooted with burrito root 3 when it was 6.2
Okay so today i turned on my Fire only to see apps missing and so i proceeded to
go to my root app delete application and tried to uninstall the stock facebook app as superuser, i was then notified i wasn't rooted. I immediately went to /device/ checked system version and seen it was now 6.3
I went trolling the web for answers to root and found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568340
long story short i decided to take a risk and opened up Kindle Fire Utility hit the #3 key (Install Permanent Root with superuser) once the kindle fired back up (no pun intended lol) I was once again able to be superuser and fully rooted.
I just wanted to let people know 6.3 is still able to be re-rooted via Kindle Fire Utility
Take care and God Bless
When I woke today I seen update 6.3 on the kindle. I seen the posted link showing how to root the 6.3 update. I was able to root my kindle fire again using that post.
Every since I owned my Kindle Fire I was following the CM. Thought I would install CM9 and gave it a try. Besides the current Hardware acceleration issue which I'm sure it's being worked on. I really do like how the CM9 runs and feels so far.
Just cant wait for the Hardware acceleration to be fixed. Just kinda wish I could post in the CM9 post here. Let the guy know how much I like it.
I have just restored root with Kindle Fire Utility 0.94,
option 2
All fine by now!
.........edit..........
Only that I still have 2 problems:
- cannot install Winamp, at all, just gives me an error about "not available shared library"
- cannot install Titanium Backup. I had it before and after update it kept force closing. Now, when I try to install, it says "Insufficient Application Storage", which surely isn't the case, as I could install NFS shift after this error and it shurely had enough space to do that.
Does anyone know how to solve this? (
Thanks!
.........edit(2)..........
OK, I solved with Titanium Backup:
- I could finally install, after finding and deleting this file "app/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBac.....odex"
(where points are, I am not sure what letters were). But I remember it was an ".odex" file. And after deleting it all went well!
.........edit(3)..........
OK, I "solved" with Winamp:
- Kinde Fire has some restrictions I wasn't aware of, that stopped Winamp from installing with some shared library, I had to downgrade back to the old Amazon version, and now it installs
My kindle updated 6.03 this afternoon and it worked perfectly with me

Amazon Fire HD Tables with Fire OS are great and even more enjoyable with this work around so you can enjoy your favorite apps from Android.
this method was tested on Fire HD 7 running Fire OS 4.5.5 but it should work with all Amazon Tablets
Here is the video how to Enjoy

Hello,
I rooted my tablet a while ago, froze several apps with Titanium and all works fine. Save for the Kindle app. I'm a Prime member and I use Kindle. Since the root, the Kindle app won't update and often crashes. I must often re-download books I had already downloaded before from my library. Is there a way to fix the Kindle app?
I tried freezing it with Titanium along with other apps that seemed related, and then to install an apk of a different version, but it will never install.
I was afraid to uninstall Kindle with Titanium. But is it even possible? If yes, will I be able to install the Google Play version of the app after? Thing is, I don't want to lose access to the Kindle app for good...
Thanks for any input.
Hello
I had similar problem before (rooted). You can try to clear the cache in recovery mode.
+ plus power on button to clear cache.
It works for me afterward.
I cleared the cache already, not in recovery, and it seems fine so far.
Still, being able to uninstall the Kindle version and get the one on Google Play would be best....

Good to hear that
The Kindle in Fire OS has some advantages over the one in Google Play...
However, it might be better to have a unified interface for most people ( I am one of them) , please share if you can get rid of that and if any side effect available.....

What are the advantages of the Fire OS Kindle vs the Google Play one?
I'm still very hesitant to completely uninstall it with Titanium (if it's possible), fearing I could not be able to install it again after the fact... If it goes on like now without crashing or erasing my downloaded books, I'll live with the Fire OS Kindle for now...

1. It don't need you to login XD
2. Not sure if Newstand an exclusive feature to fire os kindle ?
I think the package name for both play and fire store might share same directory so they are killing each other.
I am not a hardcore android user so i wont' able to test all of these, but worst case just adb update the fireos again should be ok
I have a HD 10 (7th Gen) on Fire OS 5.4.1.0. I uninstalled the kindle app using titanium and didn't have a backup (whoops). I downloaded from playstore and it installs but does not open. Anyone have the original kindle app apk? Also have same problem with Amazon Shopping.
I rather not have to factory reset and root again. Only have a few frozen apps..Advertising ID, amazon.jackson19, devicesoftwareOTA, Email, Fire Keyboard (Asian, Chinese), Fire Launcher, Forced OTA, Silk browser, Silk content service, Special Offers, and Unified Search. Any suggestions???
Good afternoon,
I recently purchased the fire tablet, not realizing I wouldn't have access to Google play store so I'm looking into dumping fireOS for standard android OS.
I tried installing play service all with no luck so I'm looking at this as my next hope.
Is it possible or am I SOL?
let me know if you find a way to root the device
Not rootable at present - however, you can get quite far by using Windows Fire Toolbox
I'm on linux so pretty much manually installed everything instead but can confirm google play store works and signs in.... i'd suggest using the fire toolbox anyway
