if I use the official rollback download will I be able to root my phone and install twrp as normal? if I go the msm route, is there an official archive of firmwares or would I have to rely on questionable downloads?

Hi, I have an Axon 7 2017G with an unlocked bootloader, twrp, and root. Now I have the stack rom V1.0.0B09 and I have some OTA updates to do.
How I have to proceed if I want to update? There is some issue if I will update with TWRP or with an unlocked bootloader?
What is the procedure to have the last rom and, at the same time, maintain an unlocked bootloader, TWRP?
Thanks ,
youngz
Find a firmware thread, download what you need and flash in twrp. You don't get ota now.
Ok, so, if I will able to find the updates (also from the zte website?), can I flash them with TWRP? Have I to perform all the steps or I can install directly the last update for my device?

Use raystef66's thread. Download a stock recovery from there (for example some Nougat stock recovery) and the latest stock ROM. Then flash the stock recovery through TWRP and reboot to system. After that go to Settings - Updates, and it should find the update, just le tit update
Is it safe to do this security update on my LGMP260 rooted device? Or will I lose my root?
Not safe.
Currently, of you want the latest stock updates while rooted, you'll have to use the unroot/unbrick method with the latest kdz file. I've tried it with flashify/flashfire in the past to no avail. Ota's also don't seem to like custom recoveries on this device. Best of luck.
Alternatively, use a custom rom like incipient and dirty flash when new updates happen.
You can use LG uppercut to restore the stock kdz, which you can get from here:
Make sure it's the MTP region version
https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-mp260-firmwares/firmwares/
If you restore the kdz, you lose root & everything. Then the existing root method may not work.

Hello all awesome members, i have searched google, xda and even bing for answers but none have answerd me yet.
So i have an OP5 wich is running Oxygen os 5.1.2 and now i want to update it to the latest.
Things i have tried:
Download and update through the phone updater: Fail
Recovery manager: Fail
ADB sideload: Fail.
To be clear i don't care if i loose root i just want my phone back to fully stock.
So how do i get there? what am i missing?
Can you tell us more details, what ROOT method you are use? If you are using TWRP + Magisk, it's easy to update. Just download Full Update (not OTA) mostly OnePlus 5 will detected if our device ROOTED then will download Full ROM.
Then Goes to Custom Recover, Clear Cache dan Dalvi, install Full Update ROM and flash Magisk again and done

I diskussionen use twrp and magisk bit when i Tried to update via twrp i get error 7. I want it to get normal again
So, due to my Pixel's battery life being atrocious I wanted to try LineageOS 14.1 and use my P9 Lite as a daily driver.
I started by downgrading to Marshmallow from Nougat as DC-Unlocker wouldn't work on 7.0 and I needed the bootloader unlock code.
( I used the firmware and tutorial from 4mobiles dot net, looks to be a polish one. )
Once on 6.0 MM I was able to get the code and unlock the bootloader, however, LineageOS and it's TWRP does not seem to work on 6.0 so I needed to upgrade to Nougat again.
Unfortunately, when I try the official update it says there are no updates available and any time I try to use the firmware finder app either the download fails or upon attempting install the phone reports a 'compatibility issue' and won't accept any firmware.
I tried loads of different update.zip files via the recovery update as well as through ADB. Nothing seems to work.
Finally I was able to get TWRP 3.0.2.0 on it, but again, only the version from 4mobiles dot net works. Other versions of TWRP just remove recovery altogether. (I guess they don't work with 6.0)
At this point it's a bit easier to try roms, but still none of 'em seem to work.
-I tried sideloading and manually installing lineageos 14.1 from the sdcard, it fails with ERROR CODE 7
(currently I'm stuck on the 'YOUR PHONE CAN NOT BE TRUSTED/BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED' screen, no splash but I can get into recovery and fastboot)
-Tried flashing boot.img and system.img of various OEM firmwares as well as LineageOS's manually through ADB, same result, bootloops
It seems to me that some other file makes the phone believe that it's incompatible with any of my roms. Maybe the firmware i got for 6.0 is region locked, or perhaps it's the vendor.img that I don't know how to flash?
I know it's a grave mistake but I didn't take a note on what my original version number was. It was the latest 7.0 Nougat EMUI 5.0 update on a UK based unlocked VNS-L21. The 6.0 MM I flashed on it with a rollback update was C900B300.
I tried the proxy method, custom DNS, and manual download on various roms in the Firmware finder app. Even when the download doesn't fail, the system always says the firmware is incompatible when I try to install.
Right now I could put 6.0 MM back on it and make it usable, but I doubt it would be much better than the 7.0 that was on it originally.
Can anyone tell me how I could put the original Nougat firmware back on it? eRecovery doesn't detect any possible updates.
Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

use full update.zip from firmware finder. to upgrade, you can't use latest package. you must use first nougat update.zip.

I've only used Full-OTAs, no bugfixes. None of them seem to work.
Yesterday I tried manually selecting a different model in Firmware Finder;
VNS-L21C185 instead of the default VNS-L21C432-
and downloaded VNS-L21C185B397 update. It verified fine but I couldn't install it due to my recovery being TWRP and not the stock one. What I think I'll try is flashing the recovery of the original Marshmallow firmware that's currently on the system and seeing if it will install this update. I kinda doubt it will tho.
Any other suggestions?
Is there any way I can install a nougat TWRP without my current working firmware being on nougat?
If not, is there any way I can install a nougat firmware with TWRP 3.0.2.0? In order to flash update.zip / update.app files I need to get the stock recovery back, but I can't seem to be able to do that.
Is there any way I can flash a standard OEM Rom onto it with TWRP?

you can't install nougat TWRP in EMUI 4. you can install update.app with original recovery.
extract UPDATE.APP from update.zip
place UPDATE.APP to dload folder in sdcard.
press power button, vol+ and vol-
Hi there, I'm quite a noob at this, but I want to upgrade from Android 7 to 9 and also resetting all data/cache, and I'm not sure how to. I had Magisk root, and uninstallled it by restoring stock image through Magisk. Although I thought I could do an OTA after that but it says my phone is modified.
I am guessing I will need to use Odin to flash to Android 9. What firmware do I flash to upgrade from 7 to 9? Or do I need to go from 7 to 8 to 9? I will want to root with Magisk when upgrading to 9.

i cannot currently advise on how to maintain root while updating to 9, but i can advise on the rest.
get samfirm or frija
get the info those tools ask for from sammobile.com/firmwares and download them with either of those tools
unzip the contents of the firmware package and put each file in their respective places in Odin, phone in DL mode, connect, flash
from there you should still be able to root if the bootloader is unlocked and so forth. You might need to wait the 1668 hours to unlock the bootloader again. Not sure tho as my device isnt able to be rooted
