So I tried flashing the stock rom using fastboot and at first it seemed to be working. when I flashed every image they all said finished with no errors but then I tried to boot into the system and the phone went into fastboot mode. Now I can't even get it to recovery or even turn the thing off. It just reboots into fastboot. I tried erasing partitions and flashing images again. Even tried some custom img's like lineage os but none of that fixed this soft-bricked phone.

Do you have the OP 7T Pro MacLaren or the OP 7T Pro like your thread title states? In later case, I suggest to move your thread to the OP 7T Pro forum.

I was trying to install The paranoid custom rom 6.0.1 to my OPT when I started to running into an issue with boot looping. The phone would run through the bootup animation and then say it way starting up the apps. Once it was done with all the apps it would just start rebooting again. I tried to get into recovery to flash an old rom but I couldnt get in to recovery (holding the volume down and power button just turns the screen on and then back off.) I then tried this firstaid script I found on here that would supposedly install an older twrp and allow me to get into recovery mode, but that has not worked. And now I cannot even get the phone to go to a boot animation, it just sits on the oneplus logo. Adb is not detecting my device on windows or mac, but fastboot is working. At this point I have no idea of what to do, becuase even if I get into recovery I dont have a backup rom stored on my phone. If anyone has any ideas, I please share, I am in desperate need of help here.
Flash fastboot images search and follow naman's unbrick guide, skip the data partition to keep your files

This thread will help you, https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...wrp-root-nandroid-efs-backup-and-more.345478/
if you use twrp recovery and is not working on the Vol+ "-", try this way : RENAME your recovery file into twrp.img and flash it again.
If is not working,
following this thread first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/guide-official-op2-stock-reset-to-oos-3-t3402020
Then repeat my rename recovery method.
SOFT brick
You are a happy owner of a SOFTbricked OP2, happends mostly when you corrupt the partions. It easy to recover by Oneplus guide. You can use the link provided above by colleague on oneplus forum or this one XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/guide-unbrick-recover-oneplus-2-to-t3269543. GO step by step works 100%

Indeed but i prefer to go back to the previous build as per I know its stable. I like to do rollback and then the update. So I can better isolate any new caused issue
I've been installing ROMs for a couple years, back to my LG G3 but this is the first major hiccup I've run into.
So I was trying to install This ROM. For some reason it never got through the initial boot sequence and then wouldn't boot past TWRP.
Now I had taken a backup before doing the wipe/flash but even that won't boot. Sometimes TWRP will read "no OS installed" or it will get to the boot screen for OOS (The red circle with the white dots going around it)
I'm kind of at a loss here because my backups won't boot and neither will the ROM I have downloaded. They all will just get to the boot screen.
Any help is much appreciated. Also going to post on XDA.
EDIT: Now it's when trying to boot to recovery it is booting into a ONEPLUS screen which I have not seen before. It isn't going to TWRP any longer. It has the oneplus logo and what looks like stars near the top.
Here are my options from there:
Install from internal storage
Install from ADB
Wipe data and cache
Advanced
Exit

Stock Recovery Screen. Put your phone in fastboot mode, download latest bluspark twrp and flash it with fastboot flash recovery filename. After that you can boot to twrp again. Download the last official release and put the ROM on your phone and then install it.

Thanks. I actually tried doing this but for some reason when I try to flash blu spark via fastboot it's not seeming to like it. I can do the regular twrp but not blu spark. Is this the right file location?
I tried flashing twrp and sideloading a couple different ROMS but they all get stuck in the boot animation, strange huh?
I did notice that when I am in fastboot name it says the following:
PRODUCT_NAME - QC_REFERENCE_PHONE
VARIANT - MSM UFS
BOOTLOADER VERSION -
BASEBAND VERSION
SERIAL NUMBER - (MY SERIAL)
SECURE BOOT - yes
DEVICE STATE - unlocked
Should the bootloader version and baseband version be empty like that? I'm at a loss right now and don't know what to do at this point.
Edit: Found this link where someone has the same deal, empty bootloader so that's reassuring

Rename recovery, like 3.2.1.8.61. The name it's too long.
In FastBoot mode type, or copy/paste:
fastboot flash recovery 3.2.1.8.61.img
Why such a complicated name? Just name it recovery.img
Is your phone encrypted or decrypted?
ROMs only work on one or the other and will result in a bootloop if flashed on the wrong encryption status.
Man started supporting encrypted devices, though I don't know if the one you mentioned, or the ones you've tried, do support that.
Hi.
I found in this forum a boot.img of 10.0.3, and i patch it and flash to my McLaren Edition, now, in the settings, appears "One Plus 7t pro" instead "One Plus 7T pro McLaren Edition"
The device works fine, but it is that detail that bothers me.
Does everyone think so? or "McLaren Edition" appears in the device information
Does anyone have the ROM or OTA of 10.0.4 McLaren Edition international? or at least the Boot.img
Thanks!

Check my post history, don't ever flash a patched boot image, just boot it and then direct install in the magisk app

"fastboot boot boot.img" command is used to boot from the boot.img from your pc . what it does is that it boots the phone from the boot.img on your pc instead of the one that is in your phone. That way you can try out the patched img file to see if it is ok . If the phone does not boot then you simply reboot it normally after disconnecting it from your pc and you revert back without any permanent modification to your phone. On the other hand if it does boot normally and you want to continue with this modified (rooted) boot.img file than you have two options.
1. After booting from modified boot.img patch your phones boot.img with magisk direct install and reboot or
2. Flash the modified boot.img on your pc to the phone with "fastboot flash boot boot.img" command . This will permanently flash the modified boot.img on your phone
Was on Rooted device (Magisk), phone got OTA updated, lost root and TWRP, I tried flashing via cmd "twrp-3.2.3-x_blu_spark_v9.86_op6.img" in fastboot mode. Now the phone is forever stuck on the fastboot screen. It won't even switch off. Please tell me how to get out of this situation.
Literally had this happen to me today. Hold volume up and power button worked for me eventually

I tried this, the screen goes off for 0.5 seconds and the same Fastboot screen shows up again.
Edit: Never mind, it finally worked after few tries, thanks.

I used my computer to boot twrp.img then flash twrp.zip
I still don't understand why so many people are using blue spark TWRP..... Nearly all posts in the last few days talking about issues related with twrp were with this one out with outdated versions of mauronaufrio's.
The TWRP to use is latest mauronaufrio's one there is a whole thread about it.
You don't 'flash' twrp in fastboot mode. You temporarily boot the phone with TWRP: 'fastboot boot twrp.img'
And THEN only you flash twrp installer from within this booted twrp.

Man, there is a whole thread in ROM section.... It's called TWRP
Hi all. Im quite new to this whole flashing stuff so would like to request some help on how to recover my OnePlus 8 pro. I was previously running Pixel Experience 11 on my Oneplus 8 pro when i decided i wish to return to OOS 11. I folloewd a forum online using a flash-all.bat file with my widows pc to return to stock OOS 11. When the process completed the phone only reboots into fastboot mode. i went into recovery and did a factory wipe and cache wipe but no hope. I then tried to follow the forum but using the MacOS method of individually flashing the images but no hope. as it mentions the following "Flashing is not allowed for Critical Partitions". Ive tried running fastboot flashing unlock_critical but it keeps saying device is unlocked. Could anyone please help me recover my device? I just want stock OOS back . Many reboots results in just going into fastboot mode. Thanks for the help.
