Hey everyone, thanks for your help.
So I recently bought a SM-G900V that was originally used on a Verizon plan. It was factory unlocked and sent to me. I have been using it on the AT&T network through Cricket for about two years. Recently I decided to add a data plan to my phone, and I researched and found I have to add a custom APN profile for it to work with the AT&T network. I discovered that the original Verizon APN is locked, and I cannot add any other options or change the original.
I researched for a bit and found that I can change the settings and add a new APN after I root my phone. I have previously owned Nexus 4 and 5 phones, so I have had experience in this subject. However, I didn't realize what a task this would become. I have tried towelroot (with all possible modstrings), kingroot, and multiple other sources, but all say that my phone is not supported.
Do you have any suggestions? This is very frustrating as my Nexus phones were VERY easy to root in comparison.
Thanks, Luke
You need to backup all important data to your pc and know your Samsung sign in info
To root phone it has to be on bok3 firmware or pb1 firmwares you can download these firmwares on sammobile.com once they are downloaded
Download Odin to your pc and got to samsungs website
And download the driver for your device
Then get a usb cable for your phone and connect your phone to your pc
Open Odin on your pc and place the firmware file in the ap/ pda slot
Boot your phone into download Odin mode
Then click start
Your phone will bootloop
Boot to recovery mode and wipe data and cache
Then phone will boot
Now find ok3 root method on xda under s5 Verizon section
And follow that guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370

Okay thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. :good:
As a side note, if I try this method, will I be able to bring my GS5 to Verizon later and use it on their network with a different SIM?
Thanks, Luke
As long as you don't return the phone for service or warranty you will be fine if ou need to return it or get it repaired just flash an official firmware first

It passed Odin and I'm setting it up now.
I'll update you after I attempt to root.
Okay! It's finished! Now I just need to work on changing the APN profile. Thanks for all your help!
As another side note, can I update to Marshmallow and keep root?
Thanks, Luke

Hello everyone, i noticed chainfire put cf auto root on his website for SM-G950F, and i have the SM-G950FD, will this root file works for my device ?
Edit ; the root file in chainfire's website indicate this firmware build number : NRD90M.G950FXXU1AQDG , and i'm on NRD90M.G950FXXU1AQDD
Thank you in advance.
Have you tried it? I also got the G950FD but there's no specific file for it.
I got the SM-G955FD, also want to know if the F version will work just fine or not.

can you show some proof/screenshot that the one for SM-G950F works also for SM-G950FD? Thank you.
Just making a quick comment, should someone see this and have the Snapdragons... While you may find the download file.. Read this on the site.
UNLOCK BOOTLOADERS
If you have locked bootloaders, flashing one of these will probably brick your device - with the exception of Nexus devices, which will usually automatically "OEM unlock" and wipe your data !

c f auto root sm-950fd

I tried the 955F one, didnt work, booted to an error of integrity and had to reflash stock rom.
Can I turn off OEM-Unlock after the phone is rooted? Thanks in advance.
Cf autoroot g955fd
Will the root disappear after factory reset?...Had tried G955F CF autoroot on G955FD and it worked like a treat..

I recently purchased the S8 Plus [SM-955FD], because I got tired of waiting for root. I am selling my SM-G955U T-Mobile. I flashed the TWRP file for SM-G955F and the phone went into a bootloop (stuck at Samsung Logo and wasn't turning off). It kept saying the phone could not be verified and keep looping.
At this point, I had nothing to lose so I downloaded this file from CF-Auto-Root website: samsung SM-G950F dreamltexx dreamlte universal8895 exynos5 NRD90M.G950FXXU1AQDG 7.0Download 32f539743cd2959c42120ab4cf34a870. The zipped file had another version of Odin [Odin3-v3.10.6.exe] than the one I used to flash the TWRP. I flashed the CF-Auto-Root file using the Odin version [Odin3-v3.10.6.exe] it came with. I was pleasantly surprised that it fixed the bootloop and rooted the phone. Using the same Odin version, I flashed TWRP again and it worked. So, I have a rooted S8 Plus and life is good. It will be better when I sell the T-Mobile version.
The SM-G955FD is working well with the T-mobile network - LTE speed.

Well I just got my phone bricked, the root did not work, I comitted a jugé error after switching the oem thingy to on again, now im Locked on frp...
Dunno what to do
I have an S7 Edge from Sprint. I have tried several times to root it, but all attempts have failed. I have also tried flashing TWRP from Odin, but that seems to fail if the phone is not rooted.
Does anyone know where I can find instructions for a working root procedure for this phone?

You realize there's a website called google.com that results in direct results if you type in "galaxy s7 edge snapdragon root"
It's really not that hard, and no, you can't flash TWRP.

I'll help you buddy . Spoon feed you and everything.its because that what I do help people.. I don't ask like a smart a and tell you to go to he'll and look elsewhere I help you .If you have an sm G930p you have a snapdragon phone. You cannot put twrp or any recovery or rom other that a factory.rom. you must put the exact same firmware you have on it now.do not put a newer firmware on it if you intend to root!!. Right now they are at revision 7 and there is no root for it at all. Only 4 ,5 and 6.you can tell by the software version you
Have now..its the 5th number from the end of the software string.
Step 1: model number
Step 2: firmware revision number
Step3: root depends on above information

Choice is CSC or HOME_CSC. Success will vary depending on previous firmware and/or phone data.

I have tried flashing an unlocked Samsung S8 with the above Verizon firmware but I am running into a problem. I set up to flash the BL, AP, CP and HOME_CSC files and Odin begins the process but hangs for many minutes at "Setup Connection", and then eventually states FAIL for reprogramming. It knows the phone is connected and "added" on the right COM port but will not flash. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help, a lot!!!!! I am running Odin3 v3.13

I was enabling USB debug in developer mode but when I went into download mode it would not work. Apparently I am fat fingered and deselected USB debugging so no usable connection. Once got that done used ¡BBB! Odin patched (THANK YOU SIR!!!!!!!!) and loaded the files above. Reflashed and rebooted in a few minutes, got PASS out of Odin and phone booted up just fine. Now I am able to enable the Advanced Calling feature which I sorely needed living in a lousy reception cell zone area. Thanks all for the work you put in, it is most appreciated!

It sounds like you are trying to flash a version 2 bootloader when you already have a version 3 BL installed. You need to find an updated ROM that has the version 3 BL.

So, I found a firmare from sprint that it will verify. SPT5BQK1...
