Hello everybody
I wonder if it is possible to create a kind of emulator for that platform ? I mean a kind of VM where we can flash roms, install APKs etc without have to run every 5 minutes to the car to test things ?
A newbie question of course
Thanks for your help
That would be nice

Hey Im planning to install ubuntu based on your thread I have downloaded the ubuntu.zip file and now I just want to confirm will it run perfectly on my Galaxy 3? Will it conflict in any way with my operating system? Will it function properly without any possible problem? And also which kernel can support loop devices? Please answer my question. Hope you reply soon. Thanx in advance.

just make a point of 1-2 things
when in android vnc server u need to give nick as root and pass as whatever u set
besides Ip localhost (127.0.0.1) and port 5901
and the color format should be 24color (4bpp) and it works awesome
i am using gnome havent installed XDE
Lol, i like it.

resolution aint a problem
u have scaling option ... u can fit it to screen
or put it zoomable where u can float the full screen
well the android is running
ubuntu is in chroot mode
that is that android is running as usual and ubuntu is just running over it
that means its using the linux/ android /(marcellusbe's kernel)
for going back just hit the home key
and to go back go back to android vnc viewer (long press home key and select)
** this will work untill u have manually shutdown ubuntu from terminal emulator/adb or something

yes bro ! i told i did those things
sqlite annotation processing is ticked
I have tried and I have not got it to work yet. However, I found a tutorial on the web to fix it: http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/issues/detail?id=282
Try it and report. It has not been working for me yet. (It is for androidVNC as your one seems to be a fork of AndroidVNC.)
If you still cannot get it to work, contact the developer of the programm. He should be able to help you.

I do not think that there is any difference. As far as I have seen, bVNC is a fork of androidVNC. For that reason either both should work or no one.
Hey everyone,
I want to get into android development and I want to start with rom porting. It would be great if anyone could help me get started and answer a few of my questions:
Do I need anything special to start with?
Do I need a really beefy PC to do it?
What programs do I need?
Do I have to learn C++?
Is it safe to test my so called "ports"?
Do I need permision from the developer of the base rom I'm using?
Does the base have to be for the same device?
Thanks for your help and time!

You can port roms with different hardware , its safe, just make a backup because you will probably boot loop. if you port it and post it here then you will need the devs permission. The base has to be the same android version as the rom you want to port, and the base has to be for our phone.

I was going to try to port miui but now that you're doing it I might as well try to port something else. Any suggestions?

I can not tell because even I'm not good with porting, my best result with all roms try and bootanimation been blocked.
my opinion is that there is something missing in the guide, some guides say they modify the init file in boot.img for example.
What I realized is that the files that are to be created well for not having problems updater-script and build.prop.
