Hello!
I'm a CyanogenMod user since a long time now and although I really love this ROM and appreciate how much effort the team from Cyanogen Inc. and all the contributors are investing to make this ROM perfectly stable and tuned so that it runs much better than Stock Vanilla Android.
I too like that there were very few - if any - customization of the overall User Interface, but still love the really useful features which got added to AOSP.
Anyway, there's one reason why I sometimes switch to ParanoidAndroid for a short period of time:
Firstly, I always choose this one as this is the second most popular Custom ROM out there, and AOKP or similar ROMs to AOKP have just too much features and customization options that I wouldn't really play with.
Secondarily - but mainly - because although it's not that customizable like AOKP (and such), it still has these one, two, three, or even four features that are giving me this excitement and "WOW!"-feeling because of really running something (with) MUCH more useful (features) than AOSP, like QuickSettings 3+ (actual version is 3.1), HALO, PIE, Hybrid (sorted by the importance and usefulness for me). [NOTE: the named ones after QS are not (yet) in the latest version (4+) but were back in good old 3+.]
If PA would still be based on CM but "just" with the above named features added to it, it'd be the ROM I use as my daily driver, but sadly, it isn't anymore.
If I then go into the (Original-) Android Development section(s) here at XDA Devs, I always find some ROMs which are based on CM11, have HALO and sometimes even QS3+ built-in ... but also much more (IMO unnecessary features and tunings) - so much that in the end I don't even flash it and test it...
So: I want to make ROM that's based on CyanogenMod's latest version (11.0 ATM), but also has PA's HALO - always in its latest version - and PA's QuickSettings - of course also always in its latest version - built in - but: NOTHING MORE!
Also some little gimmicks from OmniROM like Lockscreen Blur/Notifications - if they'll ever get introduced into it after months of code review - and Smart Pulldown shouldn't be missing - but really: NOT TOO MUCH AND TOO GIMMICKY! CyanogenMod with more nice and really useful features added, but it should not end like TouchWiz compared to Stock Vanilla Android, like some other ROMs do... and we just saw what this leads to!
There's just two things why I don't do it:
1.) I can't do it, as I do not have enough (coding?!) skills to merge the commits (links down below) properly into my CM build setup and clean up merge's remains.
2.) I believe I can't do it on my own as I always want the ROM to be on CM's latest base like its nightlies are, but still have to see that those new commits are not conflicting with PA's features' commits. And that probably half a week...
SO: Is there anybody out there reading this post and saying: "Nice idea! And I too have the necessary skills to realize it. Let's do it!"
If so, please contact me via PM! if you have any major doubts about this 'plan' please comment down below!
Thanks for any useful tips, comments and THANK YOU (!!!) who is willing and able to help me!
Cheers

As you may have noticed there isn't a lot of ROMs for the nexus 7 2013. Tell me what kind of nougat ROMs you want.
I'll build the ROM that has the highest amount of votes.
P.S if anyone's wondering i was the former SAOSP maintainer.
Simple, clean and fast...
-fast
-complete debloated
-oms support or dark ui
-maybe privacy guard and advanced reboot
-permissive + enforce bootable and tweakable kernel with non standard govs and hotplugs
-no preroot
-Fast
-oms support
-optional pixel navigation bar w/animation setting
I know that you already build DU for another device. Would like to see DU on Flo, I think it pretty much has the features that most of us would want. Thanks.
Mike T
I'd be super happy with a Lineage build that has cherrypicks for our device. Lineage and CM officials were always nice but the reason I started coming here was the optimized versions for various devices. Having somebody that knows our device and what extras to add or remove based on our chip/gpu/flash was always nice. Sort of what DevSwift1 was doing at the start.
I'd like to see substratum support as well but i generally don't run themes.
Purenexus or a similar experience. I'd love to get pixel features with this device and manage to pass safetynet.
If this is still an option, I would love to see paranoid on the n7 2013. It's amazing on my n6p. They always looking for a maintainer.
Of course omni is great too.
I would like the latest Paranoid Android to come to FLO! But, as an alternative,
The Major Features I would like:
- Clean, Debloated & Beautiful (latest Paranoid Android Wallpapers and Stock UI look gorgeous)
- Very, Very Smooth & Snappy
- Full OMS Support
- Built-In Kernel with best Performance-Battery Balance (you can modify the latest ElementalX Kernel to suit the need)
- No Pre-Installed Bloatware (cLock, OmniStyle, OmniJaws, CM/LAOS/Omni Browser, CM/LAOS File Manager, Terminal, Stats, MusicFX/AudioFX, etc.)
- Not an overwhelming amount of unused features, just the basic & adequate amount of customization (unlike Resurrection Remix, having an unending amount of pretty useless customization, which is a waste)
- Lowest possible System Footprint (System Partition space is a bit low on our FLO/DEB)
- Comes Unrooted (passes SafetyNet but can allow for Magisk)
- Regular & Meaningful Updates (Weekly Builds are better than Nightlies)
Additional Featues, which if implemented, would be lovely:
- Basic level of Built-In Themes/Accents (like OxygenOS' Light/Dark Themes and Multiple Accent Colours)
- Good System UI Animations & Animated Elements (like OxygenOS' Power Menu, which has animated & colourful large buttons instead of a list and allow for seamless Power OFF and Advanced Restart while looking beautiful)
- Use as much of Google Apps in the build (Google Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Clock, Contacts, Chrome & Email instead of other AOSP & Open Alternatives or make a zip to replace the built-in ones with the Google ones)
Please, make this happen! Upvote if you too wanted this ROM...
Thank you.
Thank you for developing a new ROM. It is great that there will be a new build for the old tablet. If you could include substratum, viper4android, or xposed framework with rootcloaking module (not that it can't be done individually), that would be awesome. Thank you again for bringing new life to Flo (aside from generic LineageOS builds).
Not to discourage you from doing your own thing, but if possible, I think it would be best if you build something with changes that could easily be merged into the latest nightlies of LineageOS. With the number of Nexus 7 2013 users dropping as the device ages I don't think it would be wise to splinter the community too much more than it already is
As similar to the stock one as possible. That means without root, with Google Apps, without non-stock features, and with stock kernel.
We got that, aosp rom, check it out
I want a nougat ROM that will work with VOIP/SIP apps like TalkaTone for the occasional phone call with the 2013 LTE device or through WiFi. It's been a month since I've tried but TalkaTone locks up with
every Nougat ROM I've tried with the 2013 LTE and Flo devices I have. Funny thing I picked up a used 2012 3G and it works like a charm with the Nougat ROM and the VOIP/SIP app TalkaTone. Kurt
Hi, a lean clean rom as described above - would love the addition of some of the features from Timurs rom v4 (on git hub) so can be used for a car install. There quite a community and we really need a decent updated rom. Features, power event manager including forced sleep on power off, USB host, USB DAC Support.
Don't forget the deb devices.
I just want SlimPIE.
Whats the status here, is there a new room coming any soon?
I am not the developer and this is not my work. I am just sharing this ROM here with reference to real developers' website.

Enjoying new features but Facing battery drain issues?
Android 10 has been the most versatile Android hence, it came with all kinds of goodies such as new features, performance improvement, better permissions and security settings.
Please, don't complain that battery life is not as good as Android 9 because, Android 9 was NOT as good as Android 10.
Overnight battery drain issue has been fixed. If you are still facing it then you can try following methods to improve battery life (I will update it if there is a better strategy):
# Install blazemax kernel 3.4 and Magisk for root. Install a kernel manager app. Select "elementalx" governor for CPU and "balanced" governor for GPU. Enable "IntelliPlug" from CPU Hotplug and that's it.
Following are optional:
# Use Pure Black theme rather than light or grey
# Disable "Device personalisation services" from settings
# Disable "Find my device" from security settings
# Disable printing services from system settings
# Disable "Battery Manager" from system battery settings (optional)
# Freezing "Digital Wellbeing" may also help (optional)
More Tips for Improved Performance and Enhanced Battery
We install plenty of apps in our mobile phones to use for various reasons which may require us to use those apps regularly or when it's needed on random days a month. Some of apps are needed to work in background such as social networking apps. Whereas, gaming apps are needed to work only when needed. Other breed is known as bloatware which are not used by us but are part of system app partition. Gaming, infotainment and bloatware apps shouldn't be working in the background as they not only use battery but also use our data for ads and such. So, these apps should be disabled when not in use.
We need to have knowledge of all such apps and their relevant categories because this information will result in snappier performance of our phones along with good battery life by following the below mentioned trick.
You will need:
1. Titanium backup app
2. AirFrozen
Detail is given below:
1. Titanium backup app is one of the veteran apps which is good for backing up your app data so you can resume from where you left in previous ROM or phone. It's made for rooted phone users. It can be used for disabling the unwanted apps by using freeze command. I recommend that you should freeze bloatware which you don't use at all. But be very careful while disabling system apps. You can download this app from Google Play Store. But if you don't want to backup your apps then no need to install it. Just go for next app.
2. AirFrozen app is for people who have such apps which are not needed to work in background but are needed to be installed. Such apps include gaming and infotainment apps etc. By using AirFrozen; you can easily freeze/disable an app and can still open frozen app for use with couple of touches. This way the app gives you few major advantages; disabling the app which prevents background processing, data and battery usage and unwanted notifications. Secondly, frozen app is hidden from sight yet ready to open upon couple of taps. I don't want my son to know that I have battle royale game installed in my phone. Hence, I've frozen COD in AirFrozen. Few other infotainment apps and Titanium backup are also frozen in AirFrozen. Give this app a try and you will love it. You can download AirFrozen from Play store.
Did the developers of Mokee OS wait for the developers of LineageOS 17.1 to fix all the errors?!:good:

Ok my fingerprint is not working.so I needed atleast face unlock to work.atleast this is official rom .I'll try it out later .thanks for getting us this rom dev
Is this rom fast and smooth as LOS 17.1 ?
Please tell more about battery backup, bugs, sot, native video calling, And audio/video bug
Performance is good as I played COD on it for a few moments and I found no stutters. Battery seems fine as I saw only one percent battery drop overnight. I've used mostly mobile data since installing it and it hasn't really struggled with battery whereas data drains battery faster than WiFi. I cannot say anything about SOT at the moment as I couldn't fully recharge my phone since installing this ROM. I've been testing this ROM for last 19 hours with conservative governor. Added features as I mentioned are pretty useful. Unlocking with FP is snappy, signals are strong and LTE is connected all the time. I can't say about native video calling as my network don't have it. I use WhatsApp video calling which is fine.
No bugs encountered so far

Google had dropped face unlock with Android 10. Hence, official ROMs have dropped it as well. You should try LOS 16 or Mokee 90 or other Pie custom ROM for this ability.

Actually msm xtended v8.0 and havoc os 3.5 both have face unlock and both of those roms are android 10 .so I'm stuck with them untill another android 10 rom gets face unlock.by the way the next update of both msm and havoc os removed face unlock so I don't think they'll add face unlock any sooner.however the developers of this rom can definitely add face unlock as an added bonus

Yes, Degrus and VladSor added that functionality on their own fulfilling community requests. But in order to make a ROM official; it needs to follow AOSP code which doesn't allow face unlock.

Request one of our many gracious and wonderful developers to port a Samsung Nougat ROM for our beloved P905. I understand that porting a One UI based ROM would be very tough because of the deep changes. I hope porting a Nougat ROM from one of the many Samsung Nougat tablets would be a tad more do-able.
I once again acknowledge that our developers have their own lives to lead and priorities in life and are doing us a favor by spending their valuable time to develop ports and Lineage OS based latest android builds for our aging dinosaur.
A Samsung Nougat based ROM would be wonderful for the P905.

Hi Chudu.
What are the Samsung specific features that you're looking for when it comes to One UI or Touchwiz?
Hi shardsx,
By Samsung specific features, I mean mainly the Samsung Touchwiz/Grace UI and the myriad of settings and customization features unique to Samsung firmware.
And as a possible bonus, if the ported ROM is from another S-pen supported tablet/phone, then the included S-pen features would be the icing on the cake.
Developers like Valeria1978 have developed Lineage0S for this aging tablet based on Android 10 and it feels so much lighter on the resources. But inevitably, I find myself going back to the Note 7 ported ROM because I miss the stock Samsung firmware look and features.

Unfortunately it appears that the best path forward is to go with the Lineage OS builds from Valera1978. There hasn't been any other developers taking up the mantle with the P905, so we're only here at Android 10 by the good graces of Valera and his work. This is why I was curious to see if there was something specific to Touchwiz ROMs that appeal to you which could be mimicked in software but allow you to continue using the latest Lineage builds. For example, there's online praise of SPenCommand which is a 3rd party app (outside of Google Play) that recreates TouchWiz's S-Pen functionality for Lineage and AOSP ROMs, (note that I haven't personally purchased or used this software). LectureNotes, which I do use, is a very good note-taking alternative to S-Notes.
Since knowledge emerged on how to fix the S-Pen palm rejection that has been broken since Lineage 15.1, Lineage 17.1 has been my daily driver and working pretty well. I would have liked to stick to Lineage 16.1 as I find it more stable and polished than 17.1 but I cannot get a successful compile of Valera's 16.1 ROM to boot on my tablet.
If anyone can figure that out, I can probably provide a Lineage 16.1 build that:
- enables S-Pen palm rejection
- enables Bluetooth pairing of PS4 DualShock4 controller without the associated nasty input lag
I fully agree with you. I have not tried the Spencommand software, but now that you have mentioned it, I will try to find it and use it.
Apart from the comparative lack of customizability, there are 3 reasons which I find irksome about the 17.1 build.
First is the rotation bug. After a while, the tablet simply gets stuck in portrait mode and only a reboot gets the landscape mode working again.
Secondly, I need to swipe at least 3 or 4 times in order to pull down the quick settings and notification shade and it is extremely slow while it opens out.
Thirdly, I use my P905 a lot for making calls and in spite of trying everything, I'm unable to hear the voice of the person on the other line when on voice calls. I'm forced to use a Bluetooth speaker which is not always convenient.

The telephony aspect of this tablet is something that I am unable to provide any alternatives. My carrier appears to be incompatible with my tablet so I never looked into this at all.
In terms of the rotation bug, I use an app called Ultimate Rotation Control and manually rotate using its Notification widget. This bug exists with all versions of Lineage OS and this was the only workaround I've found which consistently works.
For the notification shade, this is one area that I think Lineage 16.1 offers a smoother experience. I found that certain apps like Youtube, TunedIn Radio, or any apps that utilizes a background image for its notification card will cause the notification shade to lag. Once an affecting app generates a notification card that causes the stuttering behavior, there's no way to recover other than to reboot. Even if the affecting app is closed, the notification shade continues to be slow and stuttery. The only workaround I've found is to disable all notifications for the affecting apps and then reboot.
In terms of quickly pulling down the notification shade with everything expanded in one go, there is an option in Lineage OS in the Settings app, under System > Status Bar -> Quick Pulldown. Enabling this option will allow a single swipe from the status bar to display a fully expanded notification shade with all the toggles and cards expanded.
I know the biggest problem for you is the telephony and call volume. Unfortunately nothing I have said is going to help with that. I hope perhaps Valera or a new developer may be able to help you. At least I hope my words would help anyone else with similar problems who happens to stumble upon this post.
Lastly, I'd like to share that to get the experience of a fullsize keyboard similar to Touchwiz, Hacker's Keyboard is probably as close as you can get with so little developers producing keyboards that are appropriate for tablets of this size.
Thank you so much for all this information. I will definitely try out the spencommand apk and hacker's keyboard.

Hi Chudu,
I'm afraid to report bad news. I tried SPenCommand downloaded from the developer's page but it doesn't seem to launch on my device using Lineage OS 17.1. If you are going to try and switch ROMs to try this software, please be aware of this potential snag.
Hi shardsx,
Can you provide me a link to the download page? I'll try it out on my weekly off and see if I'm able to launch it.

The developer of this app is called @emandt. He had a thread about this app here at XDA.
His website is http://www.emandt.net/Android/SPenCommand/Website/. On this page you can find the download links. This is a paid app hosted outside the Google Store and relies on an in-app purchase to unlock. As I mentioned, this app seems to instantaneously close on me so it seems to do nothing. The author seems to have last updated this app to support Android Oreo or Lineage 15.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 13 (T), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. This version comes in two flavors, GMS and vanilla. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

This looks tasty!
Two Questions:
(A) Is it possible to upgrade from your other LineageOS 18.1 Rom, or is a clean install required?
(B) I do a lot of long exposure pictures and therefore use the pro mode on the stock camera app quite often. Is it included again? (The camera app in LineageOS was always very limited years ago, I don't know how it is now.)

A) you can't dirty flash, clean flash required
B) the stock cam is not included, but the aperture camera lineage 20 comes with is really great, not sure about long exposure shots tho, probably some gcam would suit that need nicely

Hi,
I installed your rom on my Mi A3 European model.
Since one week, everything went well, and overall everything works fine except:
- SMS won't send if LTE call are activate (I use google message app)
- Battery decreases when I use android auto in my car (connected on USB) whereas before (A11 xiaomi stock rom) my phone was charging
- The "night filter lighting" is too much yellow even when setting it to the minimum (0% now is ~30% before on A11 xiaomi stock rom)
- The automatic brightness works badly (I had to use macrodroid to manage this setting)
Otherwise thank you very much for your work, everything else works perfectly for the moment. It's the first time I use lineageos on my phone, how will it be for updates? (OTA or manually?)

1st and 2nd issues i haven't encountered (i don't have android auto easily accessible to test), night light can somewhat be tuned manually via the live display color calibration, auto brightness is tuned to your usage, if you have it enabled try nudging the bar to how you like it, after a while it will follow the preferences you set.
I might implement OTA, but that would still require at least one manual upgrade
Glad you enjoy the rom
Thanks a lot for the rom. Everything works perfect out of the box. I did a clean install coming from your lineageos 18 build. The new lineageos camera app is really good. I could easily install microG and universal safetynet fix. If we can't find updates here, I'll take a look at your telegram channel OTA would be a great solution to this.
Any chance of trying to go official? The immediate advantage would be the automated (weekly) builds, with free OTA upgrades, and fixes from the upstream devs when they break things on their side.

Hi,
For Android Auto, I tried with another USB cable and it charges correctly during use. It's strange the USB cable I had, worked perfectly for 2 years, I tried it again after android auto update and the phone still discharges but less... I think it comes from android Auto updates more than your rom.
Now I'm looking to recover the stock camera app from the mi A3 which allows the use of wide angle, the 48Mpx sensor and saving directy on SD card.
Anyone tried ANXCamera?
Can you release a version without the GAPPS ?
Or at least with the minimal Pico variant?
There are people who really dislike to see google everywhere and prefer to use devices that are out of the scope of constant surveillance and some of them prefer using LOS exactly with that idea in mind.

There are several problems with official, the source modifications i made aren't allowed in official (without them performance would be slower, FOD would be blinding, just to name a few)

Please read the post again, especially the download section, the vanilla version is available, and the gms variant is (as it states in the notes) only core Gapps (playstore and play services)

Thanks for your time
Edit (quick reply posted prematurely on line change, sorry): Because you already build two different versions (GMS and vanilla) maybe it would be feasible to have the "less than ideal but well supported" official version while still keeping the "optimized and overall better" fork? Just spitballing here, I am fully aware of the hurdles the device charter creates -- incidentally, those that make it through the process usually end-up being well supported all-around.
I second that, that would be wonderful. People are so disappointed by Xiaomi about the A3. A nice device with great hardware but abandoned early by Xiami and the community and lots of problems during its official life span.

I thought long and hard about applying for official, but in the end i didn't think it would succeed, there are a plethora of different officially supported roms for A3 which would all perform better than Lineage official, and i feel that official is really limiting what i can do. About mainting two versions, yes i do, theoretically even 4 versions (GMS/Vanilla for Los 18/20), but official also needs a lot of attention, they require you to spend time on it, and that would mean it would eat more of my time, doing a thing i do not believe will succeed (maybe the fod can be fixed, but geekbench scores and others cannot be easily fixed from the device tree alone)
And what do you mean about the good all-round support? Getting regular updates?
The whole device tree and vendor passes the device requirements afaik, but i don't wanna release a build with FOD that doesn't have dimming, it would really make the build failed in my eyes.
Hey thank you for this great ROM, I really love it, it has much better functionality then stock. I like the adb root feature. Of course official would be nice, but I understand your decision.
I am having only one issue: When calling with headset via audio jack the volume is way to high even on the lowest setting. Is there any way to change this? Couldn't find a proper way to adjust that.
Thank you for a reply

The volume of the mic, or the volume of what you hear?
Hey, I am interested in installing this on my Xiaomi MI A3. Does it support adding a work profile/account? This is a feature that I use on my stock rom and it is essential. Thanks

Are you talking about the launcher (some google launchers have seperate tabs at the top to pick which profile to open an app in) or system wide (when you have a logo in the status bar/qs that you can open to sign in to another "account")?
