TEST POINT method - Android Head-Units

Hello, everyone.
I have something like the one in the picture.
I wanted to do an upgrade and .... bricked - only black screen.
I read about the TEST POINT method. I found this point on my board and. what next? I've read that I have to short it with GND - but for how long? with power on or not? if I short it with GND, can it be from power supply or some other on the board?
Can someone of you show me how exactly I should do it?
Thank you for any suggestions.

8525 Screen Problem

this has happened over 5 months ago my screen had turned white with a bunch of straight lines coming down from the screen, this was after i was trying to update my phone and in which i had not tampered with it when it was updating. I've tried to mess with it when i took it apart to see if i could fix it, and after a few hours i got sick of it and just junked it somewhere in my room. Now that i have read the possible fix's for the screen, what i found out is that once i disconnect the connector to the buttons at the bottom the screen would just become white instead of the color strands on it. I've even tried to re-update it but the same problem still persist. If anyone has any idea how i can fix this problem that would be great.

no one has any solution for this problem ?
can anyone help me please ? or has anyone had this problem.
Looks like Lcd flex cable may be loose. You'll have to pretty much dismantle your Hermes and see. Go to this site for HTC manual - http://michael-channon.spaces.live.com/
You should also PM Mike Channon if you really need help or advice as he is the Hardware specialist.
Cheers...
thank you for the help and the support bro.

Original Poster/Source is also in this forum. I tried to find the original link for the post but I can't. Credits to him, and if someone can find it please give a link. TY. The pics above are from a tutorial of the original poster for replacing the connector of the XDA I, but it should work well with the XDA II since that's how I'm syncing with my PC right now. Remember that pins 1-22 are left to right when your xda is facing UP (see below).
jo_iii Thanx a lot.
May be anyone can help identifying where path for pin #14 goes to? It doesn't exist anymore on my mb

Removing the camera unit from SGS, please help!

Hi,
I'm thinking of removing the Camera unit from my phone as camera mobiles are not allowed in my office.

http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-S-I-9000-Teardown/7122/1
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Opening-tool...4?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item416585c42c
Based on this, I'm confident that I can remove the camera from the mobile. But after removing the entire chip, will the phone have any trouble in booting?
I mean, while the phone is booting, will it be looking for camera unit and will fail in booting if there aren't any camera units found? I know this doesn't make any sense, but still I don't want to take any chance....
XDAians please shed some light on this topic! Also if you have any tips on removing camera, please share your information.
Thanks
Removing the camera is very easy if you know how to take the phone apart (don't break the tabs on the chrome trim).
And the phone will boot just fine.
This is my first time removing the panel. Hope it is as easy as you say.
And I'll look out for that tabs on the chrome trim.
i have changed the Mainboard a few weeks ago.
The hardest work was to split the cover.
Here the guy use a tool

i suggest to use your fingernails.
Second, there is a small white cable between mainboard and the board in the bottom.
Don't crush it, when you reassemble the phone.

[Q]How to read kernel output from UART cable ?

Hello, I've made a UART cable and used it with note 2 (I used 610~619K resistor in case you're curious) and I was able to read from bootloader but there was not output from kernel

}
so what should I do to read kernel output ?
one more question. I've tried to use the cable with my samsung galaxy star gt-s5282 but it didn't work so I tried different resistor values from 150K all the way up to 619K and it still the same. so I tried to use 300K to see if it's gonna enter download mode but it didn't work too. should I modify something on phone's board to be able to use the cable ?
thanks in advance

Help and guidance required please.

Hello all,
I've been using my device in my Audi e-tron without issue, last week without anything changing it just stopped working, I've tried a different cable just in case but it's made no difference. When the device is plugged in, I can see that the unit is getting power and I can see a dim white light on the housing. What would my next steps be please? Are there other steps that I can take to troubleshoot the issue? Is it repairable?
Thanks in advance.

Anyone? I'm completely stuck on how to move forward with this, even a link with details on the steps that I can take would be hugely appreciated.
